Dr. Lampe is fantastic and the rest of the staff at Mass/RI Vet ER is a cut above the rest as well. Very professional, but also kind. Prices are very reasonable considering it is an animal ER. These folks truly do care about the animals and are not just in it for the money. Dr. Lampe diagnosed my cat with a very rare congenital condition that almost never occurs in cats.

He had been very ill for a while and despite multiple trips per week to our vet and lots of home care (sub-q fluids from home, syringe feedings, etc.) we wound up in the ER with him. While we ultimately were not able to save him and it was time to end his suffering, Dr. Lampe was able to provide us a definitive diagnosis that made the decision much easier to let him go. Just from listening to his symptoms in the course of a few moments she immediately suspected he had a condition called megaesophogus -- confirmed by x-ray -- she was correct.

This condition is rare even in dogs, but hardly ever occurs in cats. It was never suspected by our other vet (that is feline only and consulted with many colleagues) that worked very hard to treat him. I was very impressed by Dr. Lampes quick thinking and accurate diagnosis. It was a shame we had to euthanize our poor little guy, but they gave us time to say goodbye in a private room that was more comfortable and were very sympathetic.

I have owned animals all my life and have never experienced an ER visit like this. Very impressed with the level of care and compassion. I would highly recommend them over other hospitals in the RI/MASS area.

Compassionate and competent care. We have an older GSD with multiple health problems, and a younger GSD who constantly gets into trouble. On the two occasions we have had to use emergency services we were seen promptly and the staff was very kind and all procedures were thoroughly explained. Emergency service is expensive no matter where you go, but access to 24hour care for my pets is well worth every penny.

unless u have money dont bother coming to the emergency room..of course it cost more than a regular vet..but if u have an emergency and your dog needs some kind of surgery asap..and it was a couple thousand and u dont have the 75% down..u might as well say goodbye to your pet..harsh but true..they say "i wish i can help" but in the end it all comes down to $$$..i know its business..but oh man..its sad

I just went here tonight because my puppy hurt his leg. From the moment I called until I walked out the door, I had an absolutely amazing experience here. Everyone was extremely nice and very helpful. They took the time not only to deal with the issue we were there for, but also to answer a few other questions I had (I have only had my puppy for a week) I definately recommend this ER to anyone with a sick or hurt animal. They made me feel like my dog was the most important patient they had. =)

Mass-Rhode Island Veterinary are run by animal lovers and you get that sense as soon as you walk in the door. The care is outstanding, the staff are absolute pros, and I recommend anyone in need of emergency veterinary care to go there without hesitation. You will feel that your loved one is in good hands and will get the best care possible. They even have visiting times in case your pet has to have an extended stay and they never seem to mind if you call for an update or 2 or 3!

The doctor looked like she just crawled out of bed. They just wanted money and only care about the money. They wouldn't treat my dog until I filled out a form and give them money. The lady at the front desk didn't care about my dog being in pain. I would never go back there.

Absolutely Fabulous Care***From the minute we walked into Mass/RI ER we knew we were in the best place we could be. They took out little Daisey Mae and began accessing her wounds within 1 minute of our arrival, even before I had finished the paperwork. They treat each and every patient as if it were their own. That same respect and treatment extends to the family members. You don't even have to ask any questions because they answer every question you have without you asking, even questions you didn't know you had. The office staff, techs, assistants, doctors all have that same love and concern for each and every patient and family. We believe that our little Yorkie would not have made it if she were taken anywhere else. I tell everyone I know to go there if the terrible event arises and you need emergency care.

Everyone should provide the same care and love. Please I can not tell you enough that the MA/RI Er is the only place you should take your pet in time of emergency. The staff at the ER are amazing. If they can not help you then no one can help. If it wasn't for Dr. Lamp and her staff, I would not have had the two years of happiness and love with my boy that I did. There is nothing the staff will not do to protect and cure your pet. They have given up their lives and dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to providing the absolute best medical and emotional care to pets in need. I will always be grateful and dedicated to the ER. The best part is that they are honest regardless of the news. We all want to hear good things but even when the news isn't good, they still tell you in a compassionate manner. They understand tears and fears and make you feel totally comfortable that your pet could not be in better hands, other than your own. But sometimes we need specialists and that is exactly what they are. Once your pet is there, he or she becomes their pet for that time. Your pet will never feel alone or abandoned. They love them with all their hearts while taking care of their medical needs. I can't say enough about them. I have been in and out of there for 2 years with emergencies with my MAX and I will never take another pet anywhere else than the ER if that should arise. If you truly want the best care for your pet and self, don't go anywhere else. I have known people that were told there was no saving their animal at other Er's and once they went to the MA/RI Er they found out that their pet could be helped. Please don't take a chance on losing your best friend and companion. Take them to the ER, you'll never question yourself.

Our cat, Tiamo, is a diabetic. We brought him in to the animal hospital for a urinary tract infection and high glucose levels. Tiamo received excellent care while he was at the Mass RI Veterinary ER. Staff at the ER are kind people that are dedicated to helping animals. Very, very helpful.

There is absolutely nothing negative that I could possibly say about the Drs and staff at this emergency veterinary hospital. When something happens to our pet, it is indeed traumatic to us and our pets, but to be honest, the staff at an emergency veterinary hospital sees the same the same thing, over and over again, on an almost daily basis. One would think that this would breed an apathetic attitude, but I have witnessed the extreme opposite at MRI Vet hospital. The Drs and staff both have shown true compassion and caring when I have had to bring in my beloved pets for emergency treatment. They have gone far beyond the "call of duty" to ensure both mine, and my pets, comfort. I have had need for emergency care more often than I would expect, and found I could always count on the staff here to provide the best professional (and personal) help that anyone could ask for. I trust the staff 110%, which is really saying a lot, when entrusting the well being of a beloved pet. I only wish that all emergency care facilities were as efficient, professional, and caring, as Mass RI Veterinary Emergency Hospital. If you, unfortunately, found yourself in need of emergency care for your pet, I would HIGHLY recommend this hospital

This is a great place to take a pet in an emergency! The vets and staff there are great! They are very skilled and have been so kind to me and my cats! It is very clear that they really care about what they are doing!

PROS: convenient location - open when regular vets are not - great staff
CONS: not one so far!

My cat Critter was suffering from extreme anemia when I brought her in on a Saturday afternoon. The front desk staff rushed her back and when the nurse came out, the news was not good. Her chances of survival were minimal. I sent them back with a mandate to "save the cat". When I went to the car, the nurse came rushing out and was visibly upset. She rushed me back in because Critter had coded while they were setting up her IV and they had given CPR to bring her back. They stabilized her while I was with her and began a transfusion.

I paced in the waiting area while the staff kept coming out to update me and, at about the two hour mark, one of the nurses came out to tell me that I could go back to the ICU to see her. They had her hooked up to IVs and monitors but she was standing in her cage and devouring some soft food. Over two days, she steadily improved and returned home.

In less caring hands, I would have been told to euthanize her. In less skilled hands, she would have died on the table. As I write this, she is chasing a bottle cap around my office and clawing at my chair. We both have the incredible staff of Mass RI Veterinary to thank for the Critter's continued good health. From the reception area to the ICU, they are top notch professionals and even better human beings. Thank you all.
