I work with Paul and his movers often. As a real estate broker who often stages apartments, I move furnishings several times a year from apartment to apartment. Gentleman with a Van is my go-to company. This past week, they helped me move some of my own personal items and, as always, Paul's guys were friendly, efficient, and professional. After every move, Paul emails to check in and make sure it went smoothly. I highly recommend this company!

Easy to set up (e-mail correspondence); friendly, professional crew, reaonably priced. One caveat: not all crews are created equal. Our second experience with them was superb: Andy and Ed were consummate professionals, who blanket-wrapped anything that might have been scratched; taped together stacked plastic drawers so they were more stable and could be moved in stacks, moved items with extreme care, etc. (They arrived 45 minutes late, but called to let us know they would be delayed, and we put the time to good use.) They worked quickly, carefully and efficiantly, and the move went smoothly and didn't take long at all; in fact, we took a cab to the new apartment, and they were already there waiting for us when we arrived! They truly were "Gentlemen (With A Van)".
The first time we used the company, it was just two basic guys with a truck; fortunately, we were primarily moving boxes of unbreakable items, as they were adequate but somehow managed to squash several of the boxes, even though their truck could have held 5 or 6 times the amount we were moving. The driver was personable and had clearly worked as a mover before, but the assistant was green and a little thuggy. Still, they worked quickly and we paid a fair price for the work they delivered. And they were obviously good enough so that we opted to use the company a second time.
I would absolutely reccommend this company, particularly for small to midsize moves.
There does seem to be some lack of communication between dispatch and drivers, as each time, I had sent carefully counted estimates of what we would move: the first time, the truck was nearly empty, while the second time we just about filled the van, even though we decided not to move three items of furniture that had been on our original list.

These guys were terrific! They were on time (early even), very friendly and efficient and not only helped move the furniture, but helped make sure it was set up well. I would definitely use them again!

I used this service to deliver an expensive mid century bookshelf from the east village to Brooklyn on short notice. I was very satisfied from the initial contact through to the completion of the job. Paul was very accommodating and helpful and they even helped me reattach the legs on delivery. I would highly recommend them!

These guys were terrific. I had a very large, sentimental item to move and I was worried about getting it out of my apartment withot damaging it.. But, the guys put me at ease. They showed up on time, they were resourceful and worked around tight spaces, and got my stuff into the van with a scratch. They were also great about protecting the walls and floors of the building. It was worth every penny.

I recommend Gentleman With a Van without reservation. Paul responded quickly to my inquiry about price quotes and reserved times for my multi-day move soon thereafter. Andy and Ed were very prompt, professional, and quick. Plus, they were friendly and conversational to boot. And these moves were done at a really, really reasonable rate. So, in short, this move was about as painless as a move can be. I've never really been able to say that before.

Excellent and extremely professional. The guys showed up right on time and they were very careful with my boxes and furniture. I would recommend them for both big and small moves. They are the very best!

I had a hard time finding a company interested in moving four heavy boxes, a mirror and a large framed picture from my office in midtown East (UN) to my apartment in Hoboken. Paul at "Gentleman with a Van" was extremely helpful, and available by phone around the clock. Jason, who picked up my boxes (and me!) and drove us to Hoboken, was punctual, courteous and efficient - I was most impressed! And the price was right.

Paul Kennedy and his staff have moved me several times.
Each time I'm impressed by the courtesy and competence of these movers.
The pricing is very good - and on that note, this most recent time the movers came back to me to point out I'd overpaid.
They were prompt and the time estimate was correct to the minute.

I Needed a piano carried up to the third floor. Two guys showed up - early! - and carried the monster up in 10 minutes. Done and done!! GWAV is highly recommended and the prices are great!

I actually called Kevin's Van Service first. Kevin answered right away and said he was on vacation, but would put me in contact with his associate, Paul. I was moving from Utah to New York and I used abf u-pack to ship my furniture and everything I couldn't take on the plane. i needed someone to unload my u-pack trailer and move everything into my 3rd floor walk-up apartment. It was really short notice - same day, and I didn't have a specific time to give Paul as far as when the trailer would arrive. However, I was only able to have the trailer outside my apartment for four hours so I needed the guys to be close and available when it arrived. Kevin and John were really nice and professional. They prevented people from parking on the street in front of my apartment so there would be room to park the trailer, and when it arrived, it was unloaded and in my apartment within 40 minutes. Kevin and John were very careful with my things and worked well together so that it didn't take too long. I think the price was a little high. There is a two hour minimum, plus I had to pay for an hour of travel time, at $85 an hour. Ultimately, on such short notice it was the least expensive I could find, and I was very pleased with how nice, careful, and professional everyone was.

These guys were great. I hired them to move a sofabed I bought on Craigslist. They were there early, were prepared and got the sofa from Murray Hill to Greenpoint Brooklyn in about 30 minutes. I'm adding new furniture to my new place and plan on using them again.

Gentleman With A Van (Paul) helped me out with a move within Brooklyn. I found a different mover at first on Craigslist, Kevin, who responded quickly to my call, but when he heard the size of the move recommended that I go with Paul instead because of the bigger van. I needed a bed, small sofa, dresser, a couple of mirrors and bookcases moved and then some things moved out of my house to the curb and yard.
Paul was very responsive when I got in touch. Always quick to call back or email as needed. I appreciate that his rates vary depending on the time of month (that's reasonable considering most movers are in demand at the end of the month), and he also was willing to charge for a half-hour of time. He may ask for time shifts, but doesn't put any pressure on you to make a change if you can't.
The movers, Jason and Nico, were extremely polite and careful with the items. They worked well together and continually consulted with me to make sure they were doing the job exactly right. For example, they would ask which direction I wanted a piece turned, that sort of thing. And if I changed my mind about something they responded with not complaints. They were also continually checking to make sure they had closed the van when in the houses to keep things safe.
There was one small problem that arose on the day of the move. I was the first move of the day and the trucker over-slept his alarm, but I contacted Paul, who said I should if there were any problems, and he set off immediately to track the driver down. He got back to me in the middle of his search to let me know how it was going and within a short time the trucker called with his apologies and an ETA. I can live with this sort of thing since I wasn't in a big hurry that morning (it may have been more of a problem with the next job). The trucker also called when he was on the block but stuck behind a garbage truck.
Paul says he also can offer handyman service, so I'm sure it's worth considering since his guys really do pay attention to what you need done.

The move from Jersey to NYC went very smoothly. George and Raoul were lovely angels, very accommodating and patient. I wanted to shoot you a mail thanking you and asking about an estimate on my friend's move from New Haven to NYC. I am certain that it is more expensive given the traveling distance, but wanted to let you know she has very little to move. I wanted to ask if you could give her a good price, because of my having just used your services, and I'll definitely recommend your company to anyone and everyone that I know. Thanks, Jessie
