Woody's City Market

Woody's is my favorite bar in Raleigh. Food is pretty good. Wings are excellent. Beer is cheap. They actually have a wide selection of imports and microbrews, I think people would be surprised with that. The waitresses and bartenders give great service.

This is not Ruth's Chris, but a great place to watch sports, have a beer, or six, and relax.

Once thing I will say is I hate live music at this place. Not that the bands are terrible, it's just too small and you really can't hear yourself think.

My friends and I started coming to Woody's to watch the NFL this year, and we're hooked! The staff goes above and beyond in terms of being friendly and accommodating. They've got plenty of TVs on which to watch all the games and even a non-smoking back room. The food is yummy (especially the Rangoons and the French Dip) and the beer is cheap. Perfect place to watch your favorite team!

Pros: Friendly Staff, Lots of TVs, Great Food, Good Prices

Cons: Parking can be a little difficult, depending on the day.

Even before Woody's City Market came around in 2003, I had gone to the Woody's in Cary for many years. The wings are great, the TVs are everywhere and the service is friendly (even if occasionally slow). This is less of a problem than it used to be. In my personal opinion Woody's menu items are pricey for how good they are. I stick to the wings & beer. The Sunday beer & wing special is unbelievable.

I started going to Woody's this year with a group of friends to watch NFL Sunday football. We picked this location because we'd all been before on random nights, really liked the space and the food. Plus, we figured it would be easy to get a group of people there early and beat the crowds so we could all have a space to hang out and relax on Sunday.

Management and the staff have been great to us this season. We show up every Sunday, they take great care of us, and you can't beat the beer and food specials they run. It must be catching on, every weekend more and more people are showing up, making it an awesome atmosphere to watch the games. The staff is always on top of getting refills, orders come out right almost every time, and right before 1pm the room seems to work on where they want games to be placed, which management is happy to accommodate. This is far better than most of the other sports bars in the Raleigh area that pre-assign TVs, so if the table closest to your team is filled, you're out of luck. Here, everyone seems to agree on where to place them and has a great afternoon. Sound is provided for some games as well.

You're definitely missing out if you're not there on Sunday's. If you haven't been, take a break one Sunday from your usual spot and check it out, guaranteed you won't be disappointed.

It's been awhile since I've been here, and I now remember why..The food was normal bar fare served..well just dropped in front of me only to return with the bill..I get the feeling they felt like I was lucky to be there..Oh well

We were celebrtaing a 40th b-day and decided Woody's was the place, so sorry for that choice. We all ordered and one in our party ordered extra salad dressing. Immediately our bills showed up hwever, our food came 20 minutes later. My roast beef wrap did not have au jus sauce, I askedi f they had some and she said they would bring some 5 minutes later it arrives (out of a can I am sure). We had 3-4 different waitresses and none knew what the other had done. We had to ask for H2O refills etc. Amazingly, I and my friend were charged $.75 for the dressing and au jus. When asked we were told no, it is a charge. when we stated too bad you will lose 5 customers over $1.50, the waitress just looked like "well". I took it upon myself to call the manager on duty later that day, and I was appauled at his reaction to our incident. Not only was he not apoligetic he stated people get offended when they are informed there will an extra charge for items, so they just charge them. when questioned about how both salads had two dressing yet one was charged for an extra dressing, he stated the chef under filled the ranch therefore two of them were served. Very poor service and a don't give a d**n attitude. We will never be back for the the fried not very imaginative creations they servce up in city market. they get an F.

because we never got a chance. My friend asked the waitress whether they had any drink specials and she said "no, we don't need any" in an unfriendly way. Really. She said she'd be right back...15 minutes later, she was still nowhere to be found so we left. Not only was she rude to us, she didn't even acknowledge us when she came back out. Terrible service, will never go back.

I have been going to woody's for some time now. I have eaten wings from coast to coast. These are pretty much the best I have ever had. I have read other comments on how the service has been bad in the past. I tend to agree with that though I must admit it has gotten much better in the past year. I actually spoke with the owner (which acknowledged the past service issues) and has taken steps to hire better people (anyone that has worked in a restaurant knows that is not always an easy task). Give it a try, even if your not a sports fan, the atmosphere is good and the plasmas are everywhere.

My friends and I went to Woody's @ City Market on New Years Day to work off a hangover and watch the Bowl games. Our intention was to grab a few drinks, eat some luinch, check out the early games and move on. Well a couple of hours turned into many hours, pints ran into pitchers, lunch was followed by dinner and the evening bowl game was entering the 4th quarter. Can not tell ya the last time we had so much fun. The staff was great, the plasmas are great for sports and the food was really good for bar food. By the way the Wings are the bomb! Going back for the Superbowl!!

While visiting city market my party and I were intrigued by Woody's and thought it would be a great place to grab some lunch in such a quaint and interesting area. The menu choices were appealing and we all had trouble deciding what to choose to eat. After we ordered, it took 40 minutes for the rest in my party to get their food. Mine arrived at least 10 minutes afterwards and our waitress had forgotten that she didn't bring me my food until I reminded her. She seemed very unaware of what was going on at her tables but I did see her spending plenty of time counting out money (i'm assuming figuring out her tips). My cheeseburger had very dry meat and the bun was extremely dry as well. The fries with cheese were good however. The buffalo sub consisted of mostly breading with tiny pieces of chicken and gave my boyfriend an upset stomach. My cousin ordered the chicken strips which looked good and he said they weren't bad but tasted like the frozen kind he makes at home. We do plan on returning to City Market but never to Woody's.

Woodys' was great!!! Upon sitting outside we were greeted immediately by a waitress that was very cheerful. Service was excellent!!!

I took four others to lunch during the week day. It took the wait staff twenty minutes to get drinks and all the food wasn't out after an hour and fifteen minutes. We asked to speak the the manager. He told the wait staff to tell us it would be twenty mintues before he could talk to us. We left. Other groups left also.

The other time I was there I bought the Sliders and was disappointed with the food. They need a better cookbook. The buns wasn't cooked and the hamburger was cool.

Don''t waste your time.

I hate Woody's. It was my best friend's birthday and my end of school celebration. It took over an hour for our food to come out and fifteen minutes after that my mother STILL had NOT gotten hers. The incompetent waitress said four times that it would be out in a minute.. about every ten minutes. By this point we were all extremely upset and disappointed and when we voiced our complaints the manager (who was also supposidly the OWNER) not only refused to see us, but would not compensate in any way for our displeasure, not even with a simple apology... AND my mother NEVER got her order. We had to pay for everything even though hardly any of us ate because we were so sick to our stomachs that we couldn't. My friend and I were supposed to be celebrating and instead we left still hungry and incredibly unhappy and disappointed. PLUS, the food has never been that good, and I have eaten there about five times. I always try something new hoping to find something good, but never have. Not that that matters now, because I will never be eating there again. I have also been spreading the message to my friends, family, coworkers, and schoolmates who are all appalled about what happened to my family and friend and I, NONE of them will EVER eat there again. I will NEVER recommend it to anyone.

I just got back from this place and felt compelled to write a review. We had shrimp cocktail with chicken wraps. The shrimp cocktail was miniature shrimp with a lackluster cocktail sauce with the shrimp guts still in it. This took about 10 minutes to arrive. Our wraps were constructed horribly and felt apart once you tried to eat them, and the chicken was flavorless. Over priced and terrible service. Mad i wasted money.

After waiting nearly 10 minutes, we had to find our waitress and request service. A few minutes later, she arrived to take our order. After a longer than normal wait for
our food, it fianally arrive and the hamburgers were burned and uneatable. They were sent back. In the meantime, we had to take our beverages to the bar ourselves to be refilled. Finally, after a longer wait and subsequently canceling the order, the burgers arrived and were again burned.
Apparently, there was only one waitress working the entire restaurant and not once did the manager make a visit to our table to apologize for any inconvenience or attempt to make a bad situation better.
We will not go back.

Woodys is the best place to go in raleigh. Ive been going here for a year now and its got everything you could want out of a bar and more, from the food to the 22 beers on draft...the waitstaff is great too, you never have to worry about bad service, the girls are hot which is a plus too...if you havint been yet youre missing out on a good time...and awesome food.....just go and find out for yourself...:)

I went here a while ago and had some of the worst service AND food ever! The inside was crowded, so my friend and I sat outside. This ended up being a big mistake. Our waitress virtually ignored us the whole night, and when she did come to the table, it was with a scowl on her face. We received our food, which was a bit over priced, and mine was not very good. I ordered chicken and waffles, and got a burnt piece of chicken and what seemed like an Eggo waffle. Maybe this place is better for drinks and appetizers, but for dinner, it's a definite no no.

Woody's@city market is a wonderful places filled with laughter and cheer. Everything from the wings to the $2.50 draught beer make Woody's a great environment for all ages. Not only does woody's make you feel like you are at the game with there multiple HD plasmas, it also brings a smile to your face with all the neon lights everywhere. If you haven't been to woody's lately, detour that Hi5 place and come on down to Woody's@city market::)
