We have had a business exchange with Basement Waterproofing Technologies for the past several years. They are our customers and we are theirs. In both capacities, they have been reliable, courteous, and exceptionally easy to deal with. The job that they did for us was top notch. When we had additional problems in the same area, they came out and fixed them with no questions asked. The customer service that we receive is exceptional!!
I bought a fixer home as an investment knowing that the basement was going to be my biggest project. I shopped and read reviews. I also did a lot of research on the problem I was having as well as the solutions. I seeked professional advice pretty simply because the project was too massive to take on myself. Not knowing that I had done my homework and knew what they should be telling me, I had Waterproofing Tech take a look and give me an estimate. I met with Todd, who was very honest with me about the problem and didn't jerk me around on the solution. He even pointed out a few areas that would save me money if I repaired instead of replaced. I have always been sketchy about sales people but I went with BWT for their honesty. Definitely worth the investment of both time and money.
My husband and I have had issues with water in our basement for many years but fixing it was never a priority until our family began to grow and we decided to turn our "dungeon" into an extended family room. We, like most people shopped around for the best price as well as the best service until we found someone we were comfortable with. (Which was huge for us because we didn't know a thing about water proofing) The first time I spoke with BWT I felt like they were genuinely concerned about our problem (I wasn't just another phone call) Other companies all of which asked me the same monotone questions checking off a list. Had BWT out last week to finish the job, and would have to say it was by far, the best choice of service I could have made! Sart to finish. What a relief!
I have had water problems for some time & finally decided to have it fixed professionally. After making several inquiries & follow up recommendations, I have decided to go with BWT because of their excellent satisfaction record & good communication with their clients. The owner (Todd C.) was very professional, never pressured me, and spoke in simple terms so that I was always aware of what was needed and why. I would definitely recommend the company to family or friends.
I cannot say enough good things about BWT. Todd Coleman, the president/owner was very professional. The work crews were all pros. They showed up when they were supposed to. They were extremely careful about keeping the house clean while they worked. It was obvious from watching them that they were well versed in what they were doing. They "operated" like a fine tuned surgical team.
I bought my house in dry weather----shortly after six months of moving in I noticed in some rain events that I would have an inch of water in the basement after a moderate rain---this is a 1,200 sq. ft. basement. The usual landscaping and gutter work had all been done. I actually hired BWT after an emergency service call when I thought my sump pump was malfunctioning. Upon calling several other local waterproofing businesses, BWT was the first that responded with a caring individual. I had an inspector out to my house within an hour who assessed the situation and made his recommendations for emergency repair. Mr. Coleman himself then walked me through the entire process and offered me various options that worked with my budget so that my emergency situation did not happen again. He was thorough and he was very honest in the recommendations he made. I did all the finishing in that space after the chosen system was installed and the basement was allowed a couple of weeks to dry out---no more water---or even moisture problems.
After signing the contract, I was unable to speak with anyone for three days. (You have 3 days to cancel a contract after it is signed). My messages were not returned. I was told the job would take about a day to complete, and if it was not complete on the first day, that they would be back out the next day to complete it. It was not finished, and no one showed up on the second day. After the third day, my card was charged the remainder of the balance. When I went to the house (it is a rental property) to look at the job, the toilet was sitting on top of the sewer drain, but was not hooked up. The drain tub for the washer/central air was sitting out back. Todd (owner?) told me that he didn't know the tub was originally installed, yet he had been up to take "before" pictures of the house before he started. He told me at another point in time that drain tub was not installed because it had a broken pipe on it, although the pipe was not broken before they removed it. He then told me that it was not reinstalled because the cement was wet. That's 3 excuses! The pointing of the outside brick, and the installation of 3 structural stitches (as per contract) had also not been completed - but my card was charged! The discharge pipe was not installed where we had discussed. I was not told of an additional charge to replace the toilet and washtub. I ended up hiring a plumber to replace them. I was told by BWT, "Again, keeping in mind that we are not plumbers, I will have your Foreman attempt to put it (the toilet) back in place free of charge". After a statement like that, how can you charge someone $150 to replace a toilet? My biggest problem was not with the installation, but with Todd either lying or not answering / rejecting my phone calls. In one instance, I was told that someone would be over in 20 minutes to replace the washtub. After 1 hour, I called back. His phone went directly to voice mail. After leaving a message about being avoided by him numerous times, and threatening to call the BBB, my call was returned. As it turns out, no one was available to reinstall the washtub that day. Todd is a great salesman with an honest face. Don't let that fool you. About 3 months ago, I had asked that BWT come over and redo the pointing, as they had used caulk, and not cement on the mortar. It looked terrible, and was not sealed. I also sent pictures of it to them. Todd agreed to come over and "look at" the pointing. I'm still waiting. At this point, I don't want them back at my house. I had to withhold payment on my credit card to get them to respond. I don't think anyone should have to go through this. This was the worst contracting experience I have ever had.
I am writing to let everyone know of the excellent customer service and experience I had with Basement Waterproofing Tech. Several weeks after purchasing my first home, and after several days of heavy rain, I noticed water seeping into my basement. I was mortified, After exhausting my own knowledge about how remedy the problem myself; looking on various 'Do It Yourself' websites for further information and getting nowhere, in desperation I called BWT.
After my initial call I was informed me that an inspector could come to my home to asses the problem the very next day. I was delighted to learn that my inspector, Todd, was also the company owner. Todd was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He spent three hours with me, walking with me through the diagnostics and offered several solutions.
Frank, the job's foreman, and his crew did wonderful work as well. Frank was there every day supervising the crew to be sure the job was done as it should be and that it was finished on time. I was also glad that he was easy to understand and that he was able to explain what they were doing and why.
I would recommend this company to all family and friends.
