Just so you all know it is against Petsmart policy to cut out mats. Using scissors to cut them out is what leads dogs to get hurt. If a dog gets mats because you don't brush them often enough the best thing for the dog is to shave the area. I am not a groomer at Petsmart but I have worked with dogs and I am sick of people who haven't berating those who have. I do not tell you how to do your job and it is clear you do not know how to do your groomer's.

Petsmart is general is a great store. I think it's great that they are so compassionate about helping needy animals. Petsmart charities really do make a difference! There may be some no so good employees at Easton but it is a high demand area so it may be harder to keep good people there. All their animals are vet-assurred as well. Which means you don't have to worry about health issues, over-breeding, etc. I bought a hamster years ago from Petsmart and they thought me a lot of things I didn't know about keeping it healthy such as feeding it certain veggies and fruits to make sure he gets all his vitamins! Also they don't mix genders so you don't have to worry about getting a pregnant pet.

The people working there need some kind of course in customer service. Petsmart, in general, is a great pet shop. The store near Easton just happens not to be one of them. Very rude, know-it-all people (especially in the fish department). You are much better off going to Jacks' Aquarium & Pets across the street from Easton (near Wal-Mart).

In short - I will never take my pet to their groomer again and I wouldn't recommend them. I made the mistake of giving them a second - and third - chance, and was more and more disappointed each time. The staff is rude and unprofessional and the services are overpriced.

I am a grooming instructor and I have been grooming for 20 years and I was reading some of these reviews. I don't work for petsmart however I would like to say something in defense of groomers in general. First of all accidents happen, I am not saying that it is okay but they do happen. We work with very sharp objects and we use them on moving targets. I'm sure if you tried to do the detailed work that a groomer does on your dog at your home you would hack up your dog worse than any trained groomer would. You should be thankful that they didn't hide it from you and I hope you didn't' have to pay for it. I have heard horrible stories about dogs getting cut and the owners neverbeing toldDogs suck as cockers don't get "hairballs" cat puke up hairballs. Cockers do not have an au ndercoat so if they are not combed they get matted. The only safe humane way to get the mats out of a dog is to shave them. If a dog has mats and a groomer brushes them out the pet could have serious irritation from the excessive brushing. To me being an instructor in the industry it sounds like the people who work for this company are well educated. Keep in mind that I have nevery met anyone that gets into thisline of work b/c they hate dogs and purposly want to harm them.

I took my Cocker to Pet smart because I could not get him into his regular groomer. The girl that was going to cut him said that he was matted, which he was not. He had maybe 3 to 4 hair balls which could have easily been cut out of his hair. He was cut the way a Cocker Spaniel is cut normally. Long at the bottom short at the top. My groomer takes the time and cuts out hair balls and grooms wonderfully. This lady says that he is matted and needs to be shaved completely. He looks like a potbelly pig right now. I PAID $56.00 AND I AM NOT HAPPY!!!! Do not take your baby dog, cat, or anything that you consider part of the family to Petsmart. They are over priced and they will ruin the coat of your pet. Now I must start him all over again so that he will have a beautiful coat. If she would have taken a little time with him and cut out the hair balls he would look wonderful, but she did not want to do that. She said that he was matted.

I normally handle all grooming care myself. However, I was really busy and she needed a little trim, bath, and nails done so I took her to the Petsmart at Polaris. This was the first grooming experience for me. I get a call about an hour later asking if they can take her over to banfield (their hospital) because they nicked her ear a little bit. I thought okay, not a big deal, just a little nick. I then get a call 20 minutes later asking if they can give my dogs stitches! I then got ticked and asked how bad did they hurt my dog. The lady on the phone started off her reply as, "Well you know how she's hyper..." She's a terrier breed, of course she's hyper. Has the grooming department ever seen a dog before. I immediately drove over there and found out that the vet had to cut a piece of her ear off. I will say it wasn't the vet's fault, they where actually decent. This happened on a Thursday, and I didn't even speak to a manager until Monday. I complained to corporate and was supposed to receive a call back and never did. I went there with my dog just needing a simple trim (eyes, ears, pads, and tail) and bath, and ended up with a sedated, sick, upset puppy who now has a chunk out of her ear. Don't take them here if you want to come back with as much dog as you left there.

I am just not into chain service for my dog. This place is overpriced. Your pet will get much better service from a local groomer who ahs their own business.

Petsmart is dog-friendly so you can take your dog, and even if you don't have a dog, other people have their dogs there, and that's always fun. We buy our cat food exclusively there because it's reasonably priced (it's their house brand), it's a premium quality, and it doesn't contain dyes that stain the carpet when the cat pukes it up.
It's also fun to shop there because they have a wide variety of dog or cat toys, and other fun stuff. They also carry the huge bags of dog food for your big dog, and their prices are pretty comparable to elsewhere.
The salespeople are usually fairly helpful, and the lines at the registers aren't bad at all.

(That's "cat talk" for I Love Petsmart!)
I always find everything I need at Petsmart for AWESOME prices. The staff is really knowledgeable, too. I get everything here ~ food, treats, litter, toys, flea drops, etc. It's convenient to find everything in one store for a great price. It has stuff for all sorts of pets, too. Cats, dogs, birds, etc. It's really great for anyone who has a pet!

We tried trimming our dog's nails at home, but it was too difficult, so we always take her here. For only $12.00 they will trim her nails and clean her ears. It really is a bargain compared to struggling to do it yourself.
PROS: Great deal on nail trimming
CONS: You can often find a better deal elsewhere on dog treats, etc.
