Brunch

Message from Rustik Tavern

As soon as you set foot in the door, it is evident that a great deal of time and effort was taken to achieve a very cozy and inviting gathering place. A predominence of beautiful wood and mismatched furniture characterizes the bar and lends exceptionally well to its name. Of the many details perhaps the most intriguing is the incredible working Butcherboy walk-in refrigerator that dates to the 1880's. There is a wood-burning fireplace, in addition to an ample outdoor patio area that features its own fire pit and will be open for dinner and brunch during the warm months of the year. So come in and enjoy Brooklyn's Finest Neighborhood Tavern and their exceptional brunch menu with a Rustik Pink Lemonade our signature drink. Also, don't forget about the Exciting Daily Events.

In Short
Antique wood cabinets and the scent of smoked cedar lend this Bed-Stuy tavern a homey, countrified air. There's some Brooklyn funk too, with scattered loveseats, vinyl record covers on display, and vintage magazines on-hand for perusing. An easygoing crowd drawn largely from the nearby Pratt Institute joins a diverse group of locals, where they nurse beers at the communal table or mingle outside on the trellised patio. The wide-planked bar is stocked with bowls of peanuts, helping to ease the wait for grub like Louisiana-style crab cakes and Buffalo wings.

Hits:
The bartender can mix cocktails like a pro, and the draft selection isn't overly ponderous (think Sierra, Guinness and Blue Moon).

Misses:
The kitchen might close a bit early for those craving late-night grub (11pm most weekdays).

Key Points

  • Exciting Live Music
  • Amazing Food and Drink Menu
  • Outdoor Patio Area for Dinner

The Inside Scoop

  1. Brunch - Save your appetite for the weekend, when Rustik offers mouth-watering plates like chicken and waffles doused in coconut syrup, and cheddar cheese grits topped with grilled shrimp.
  2. Know Before You Go - It may be worth the trip on the G train if you're planning ahead, but it's generally more of a neighborhood hangout.
  3. The Extras - Rotating art that adorns the walls comes courtesy of students from Pratt.

Great brunch spot

by kartah

A friend that lives in the neighborhood showed us this perfect brunch spot. We tried it out on a Sunday afternoon, and everything was great. If your drink is not fixed properly, all you have to do is ask your waitress and she will take care of the mistake. Plenty of room for large parties. Chicken and waffle was delicious. We haven't tried it out on a regular week day/night, but we definitely would like to go back there and try it out again.

Pros: Nice atmosphere, comfortable setting

Cons: Mixed drinks can be tricky for the bartender sometimes?
