My partner and I took my new rescue kitten for his first vet check up. Before we even got in the room, the nurses were amazing! They talked to us, made us feel welcome and said hi to our boy. Very good first impression until we met the actual doctors.

We thought everything was fine until in the office, the vet pulled junk out of our cats ear and went to check it out. He came back, scribbled things down and didn't tell us what it was until I asked. Even then he just said that it wasn't ear mites and that it was perfectly normal, but couldn't tell me what else it was. [upon looking once we were home, i noticed it was only in one ear and his ear was then and now red and swollen. still don't know what it is.]

I mentioned to the vet that our boy had a little cough and some wheezing while he was laying down or sitting. After I got a look from the vet like I had 3 heads, he said he listened to our boy's breathing and didn't notice anything. Oh yeah? How is that possible when you had to wrap my poor cat in a towel because you were being so rough with him! The nurse handled him fine, she was actually a sweetheart, but once the doc touched him, he went crazy! Never saw him like that before.

Then, after we already paid for a stool sample test to be done, the vet said it wasn't an important test and the chances were very slim for anything to show up. $30 down the drain. Then we had to pay $60 for a ten minute blood test for something that apparently isn't common, either.

Now that we're home, our cat still has wheezing problems and has now started coughing. His eye is constantly watery and sometimes it isn't clear. Also, last night we noticed that he has what looks like an ulcer on his lip and this morning when we saw his lip was swelling up, we knew it was time to see a REAL vet about this.

We're traveling all the way up to Lebanon to see a vet there later this week instead of driving 5 minutes down the road, that's how bad the vet was there. NEVER going again.

Does this vet even LIKE animals? He could have fooled me.

I just read the review above of Manheim Pike Vets while searching for their phone number, and I felt compelled to respond. I have been going to Manheim Pike Vets for over 9 years. I switched to them after being unsatisfied with 2 other vets, and Manheim Pike were immediately wonderful. I have seen all 3 doctors, and thoroughly trust them all. Their front office staff and vet techs are equally kind and helpful. A few of my pets over the years have had ongoing issues, such as arthritis, blindness or end of life care. The vets have always taken the time to explain all of the options to me, they have all received appropriate treatments, and never have I experienced a problem. If I ever do experience a complication, I have no doubt that honest discussions would ensue and every measure taken to keep my pet happy and comfortable. I have recommended Manhim Pike to many of my friends and they have all been extremely happy. I only wish I could find a primary care physician for myself in Lancaster that I trust as much as my vet.

I do not understand the comments made about MPVH.
My wife and I have been going to this practice for over twenty (20) years, and have NOTHING bad to say about their services.
WE lost our beloved Shetland Sheepdog Shadow appoximately
four(4) years ago.
The caring they showed us was above and beyond what I would expect from a vet.
We were seeing Dr.Steed at the time, however, when we took her over,he was unavailable,so Dr.Rovner had the unpleasant task of "putting " her down.
It was very heartbreaking to lose her.
Dr.Rovner was very caring and understanding.
EVERY member of the hospital staff signed a card and mailed it to us.
I have continued to take my dogs to them, and will do so as long as they are in business.

I can not even give this vet 1 star. cold hearted is all that comes to mind when i think of this office and the heart ache we have been through. you trust them as professionals to take good care of your pet, a routine procedure is done and your pet is not the same. no explanations. And when you do go for an explanation - youre told - "Sorry, I dont have a magic pill" I would never ever refer this vet to anyone! Please make another choice for your beloved furry friends!
A lesson learned too late in our case.

My dog had surgery and when he came home, he had problems. I called the office and none of the doctors called me back. I had to take the dog to another vet for care. They are very, very expensive for their services.

My dogs and I love Manheim Pike vet hospital and have done so since we first moved to Lancaster. Drs. Herr (our first vet at Manheim Pike), Rovner, and Steed have taken care of my Pekes through routine check-ups and allergy shots (Dr. Rovner can give shots without making a pet give even a minor skeak), to problems with meningitis, to helping me put my 19-year-old Marysol to sleep... they took good care of both my dogs and me. The front office staff are friendly and organized and the technicians are great with my little doggies. I would never go anywhere else! I recommend Manheim Pike Vet with no reservations.

We have 3 dogs and 2 cats. Dr. Corey has been my dogs' primary vet for over 8 years. Unfortunately, we had some emergencies and could not always see Dr. Corey and we got to meet Dr. Steed and Dr. Rovner. I am happy to say that they were great with our pets too! The vet techs are so good with the animals and the front office staff is always helpful and friendly. From yearly check ups to some major surgeries, they always treat my pets like they are part of their families and always have time to answer my questions. We are very lucky to have such great animal health care!

I went to 2 other vets before finally finding Manheim Pike, ande now I will never consider going to another vet. I have had 3 dogs, 2 cats, mice and a rabbit over the past 10 years, and they have all received great care! The first vet that I went to told me that my dog needed to have medication for his bile reflux. I went to Manheim Pike, and they told me that I should first try feeding him on a different schedule. It worked like a charm, and nearly 10 years later, he's never had bile reflux since. My pets have needed surgeries, suffered allergies, arthritis, you name it, over the years. And they've all received excellent care!
