Found an item of clothing I wanted to purchase - BUT when I got to the checkout one of the supervisors took it right out of my hands and said they couldn't sell it to me because it was deemed "missing". How it could be "missing" when it was right there and I was ready to pay for it I really don't understand. This was after I tried it on twice and other clerks there commented on how good it fit and how nice it looked on me - with NO indication it wasn't available for me to buy!
The supervisor said the consigner would have to take it back and she would reconsign it the next week. I asked her to take my phone # & let me know when it became available and she promised I would be called 6/20 or 6/21. Well now it's the evening of 6/21 and no phone call. I tried calling them and discovered it's impossible to get a human being on the phone.
This was my first and will now be my last visit to this shop. These policies make no rational sense to me. The item I wanted to buy was something I really need and was so happy to find there. Can't believe they took it right out of my hands at the checkout!
OMG ....I just left there....I can't believe the one reviewer said they wouldn't take her clothes....some actually alot of what I looked at was filthy, smelled and had stains all over them.,...they have been outdated for years...and I passed a comment to one of the nasty volunteers about some of the prices...I have just bought brand new t-shirts in KOhls.....yes I recognized thier brand for $6.99 and the Thrift shop sells them for $8....with or without stains....there was a handbag there that was old and dingy for $17 .....I saw a similar one in Sears on Sat ...brand new for $19...she all but called me a liar....I know there are mostly elderly people who volunteer in thrift shops BUT they are all nasty there.....one was in the back coughing so bad I thought she was going to pass out...Was she sick and spreading germs.???? I have no Idea....try Surrey Services....there is one in Broomall and one in Berwyn...much more pleasant atmosphere....
I recently consigned at Riddle Thrift Shop. I brought in 25 items and soon after half of the items were rejected without my knowledge. Because I was not told the consigned items must be in impeccable condition, I complained to two managers of the shop. I was told they would consider my situation. I paid them a visit and nothing was done. I complained via email and was ignored. What a bunch of ***holes. I will never consign there again!
I have always been able to find good quality second hand clothes at this shop. Their things are always attractively displayed and in good condition. You can save a lot of money by shopping in a place like this. Plus, the money goes to the hospital and you can feel good about that.
