I have been taking my pets to Dr. Airhart for 18 years. Dr. Airhart is the most upstanding veterinarian that I have ever seen. He is honest, very nice and I have total confidence in what he says. His prices are lower than several veterinarians in the area. This is the cleanest clinic that I have ever been in and the waiting room is beautiful with all the stained glass. To top it off, my dog Layla loves the treats she gets from the staff. I highly recommend Town East Animal Hospital.

This is a fantastic animal clinic. We have been taking our pets to Dr. Airhart for 20+ years. His technician's are very nice and they love our pets like they were theirs. We always get the information that we need and it is explained to us where we can understand. Thank you Dr. Airhart for always being there when we need you and taking such great care of our pets (and we have had many!).
We love you!!!!

My dog was hit by a car and I took her in right after this clinic had closed. They rushed me in and immediately started working on her. They did xrays and found she had a badly fractured leg. Dr. Airhart performed extensive surgery on her and she is now happy and bounding around the yard. Thank you for being there for us when we needed help so badly.

Lower prices than several clinics in the area. Clinic is clean and staff is really friendly. They gave my little girl a balloon and showed her the birds that live there. It was like a field trip for her.
The doctor is very nice and went over what all we need to keep our 7 puppies healthy. I urge everyone to go to this clinic if you are looking for a veterinarian.

My cat was very sick and dying. We took her here and the Dr gave her medicine and shots. We took her home and by the next morning, she was so much better. She was back to her normal self by the second day. I am so thankful and grateful!! Go to this vet if you love your pet, he is the BEST ever!

My entire family has been going to Dr. Airhart since 1980 and we love him! He is very nice and honest. He takes time to talk with his clients and get to know them on a professional and personal basis. He is on the Board of Directors for the Texas Veterinary Medical Association and his name was published in the AVMA Medical Journal as one of the TOP THREE doctors having the MOST CE classes out of hundreds of veterinarians. We have complete confidence in him and speak from YEARS of experience going to him with our pets.

My first visit was this morning. My experience was very pleasant. The doctor is a very nice man and very knowledgeable. He explained to me what was going on with my cat so I could understand it. The girls who work for him were so nice and friendly. Prices were lower than other places I checked. I highly recommend this pet hospital.

I really like Dr. Airhart and the ladies that work with him. My dog had his eye popped out and we were all really scared and freaked out. Dr. Airhart came in and explained what needed to be done and the cost. I was expecting to pay alot more than what he charged me. He was very down to earth but still professional. It was a warm and friendly enviornment and it put me at ease knowing my dog was in good hands.

Town East Animal Hospital provides exceptional care for my pet. Dr. Airhart and his staff are committed to the on going health of my animals. The office hours are very convenient for my work schedule and I especially appreciate that the doctor takes time during the exam to answer any questions or concerns. I would highly recommend this veterinarian.

Pet Care at it's best...Town East Animal Hospital provides not only the best care for my pets, but the staff treats you and your pet like family. Dr. Airhart and his staff take time to listen to your concerns and make every effort to ensure you are comfortable with any procedures or medications that may be required.

Dr. Airhart is the first Veterinarian that I trust 100% in the treatment and care of my pets. He and his staff take great care to answer any questions you may have about your pets health. If you believe that your pets should be treated like one of the family, then you need to bring them to Town East Animal Hospital for the best care and personal attention they will ever receive.

My Mother and Father use Dr Airhart and has for many years. I go with them often as they have many pets. I??ve read many postings. So I am going to post mine here as well. I do agree that the overall personality of the business has gone down hill and has been that I notice for about a year. The way the receptionist Jacky treats the customers is very condescending and insulting as she tends to correct customers in front of everyone. I understand she is doing her job, but how many postings does it take to get the message across from your clients...It may do the office well to get her out of the customer service contact. We try to overlook her attitude when we go in. She asks too many questions and if she is going to then why have the nurse ask the same extended questions again in the room? There has been a turn over in staff, most of them young and inexperienced. I would prefer a more seasoned nurse that knows what they are doing. I know many times where one of the nurses would have the medicine sitting on the counter in the room before Dr. Airhart says it. I do not remember her name but she has been there a while. She was not there the last time. In the rooms there is always Dr. Airhart. I have had the pleasure of meeting his wife in the room with him, however it does not look very professional her working the rooms. Sends the wrong message. He is a good Dr. and appears sidetracked. Lately the last few times we have gone he tends not to visit on the patient immediately and talks more first but few times we walk out knowing more than we did going in. We have been happy so far. My mother and father have mentioned maybe looking for another Clinic to take the family pets to. I cannot comment on their behalf if they will. We used to feel very welcome there. Evelyn has not been there in the front lately. Dr. Airhart is a good vet, as for the front staff I would rate low. The care, we are not unhappy. I am rating a 3 due to the front end staff.

I have been a long time client of Dr. Airhart. When I had to put my dog down, Jackie worked my room. She was so compassionate and supportive and I am so grateful to her. This was very hard for me. This happened a couple of years ago and to this day, I STILL bake her cookies and cakes and take them to her as a token of my appreciation. Thank you again for caring so much.

I took my two dogs in to see Dr. Airhart this morning. I found the staff to be very friendly and efficient. I was pleasantly surprised when costs were considerably less than expected. Dr. Airhart spent time getting to know me and my dogs and I enjoyed his humor! DEFINITELY recommend this veterinarian!

Just responding to the negative message from "tt". A friend had recommended me to see Dr. Airhart and I was very pleased. I think "tt" must be a crackpot or not pay their bills. This clinic was very relaxed and friendly to me. Does "tt" stand for totally tacky?

Wonderful vet! Dr. Airhart is my new favorite vet. We have been in the Mesquite area for many years and have been to several veterinarians throughout the years. The staff was super nice and helpful with information about flea prevention and heartworm information that we did not know about. Jackie was very helpful and nice as well as the assistant who worked my room. I saw a negative notation from "tt" and completely disagree with them. I am going to HIGHLY recommend this vet and staff to anyone who reads this. :)

I am a second generation client of TEAH/Dr Airhart. I am a multi-pet owner and have been committed to Dr Airhart as a vet for 30+ years. I am disheartened to watch the quality of service wither away. After moving into the new TEAH facility, my family has noticed that the services were becoming sub-par. It appeared that the new facility was driving the clinic towards a more money-motivated business instead of the quality care that had become associated with Dr Airhart. Since the new facility opening, staff turnover has continually increased, probably due to the overly condescending desk clerk Jackie. Either by phone or in person this woman attempts to make you feel inferior and worthless and to her - your pet is just a dollar sign. With Jackie, payment method seems to outweigh the reason for the visit. By reading these reviews I now discover that this overly condescending/holier-than-thou counter jockey has been made the Asst. Manager for the clinic after repeatative complaints about her and her attitude. The only reason this entry reflects 1 star is because it doesn't allow negative stars. Please Dr Airhart, remove Jackie from your staff before your clientele abandons you for a new vet.

I am so grateful for Dr. Airhart and his staff for being so attentive to me when I brought my cat in this morning. She has not been eating or drinking anything for a couple of days and I was really worried. Dr. Airhart examined her and explained a couple of things we could try before doing alot of testing. I felt like he was thorough and cared about me and my cat. I feel we were able to make a good decision as far as treatment and I understand what is going on. We will definitely recommend this clinic to everyone we know. Happy New Year!

I am updating this posting. I since Jan 11th no longer work at Town East Animal Hospital. The business has been slow, My hours were severely cut and I was let go. I was told it had nothing to do with my job performance. I was happy in my exam rooms . If anyone comments now after I have gone, That pretty much means it is not a client and that it may be a disgruntled staff or member of management. So I hold no comments like that with any grain of salt. I am currently looking for full time work. I have received numerous questions about my position there and well I am no longer there. I requested back in August to step down from the position due to staffing/training issues, it was not my decision when to adjust that on the web staff page. I am glad to see most of you are still reading these reviews :)

last october a little yorkie showed up at my door. Starving, flea invested, and abused. I was 4 days shy of payday and this baby needed care. I found this vet via goggle. Called and asked if they could see him and allow me to pay with a post dated check. They had never seen me with any animal and still said yes. I took gizmo in and had him checked shots and dewormed. They were caring and the doctor put me at ease with him. Gizmo is now a healthy little man living with my mother in N.C. If it wasn't for them I don't know what I would have done. I think their great.

Most of Doctor Airhart's long term patients know he is not in the office on Thursdays until 3:45 pm. There are clients who overlook those hours and are directed to "come back when he is available" and some go to another vet as you did because you did not have time. As a courtesy there are times when a tech is asked to look at an animal when there is a serious issue and even then they are redirected to come back and have doc examine them. There is no reason to do any kind of Tech exam on a pet just in for regular exam and vaccinations! Some get upset some not because they have to go out of their way to come back. There has never been any disgnosis on a pet without Docs examine first. Any guess or mention of what an issue may be or look like is not any kind of diagnosis to any means and should not be assumed so. A "fatty growth" is not a term I would use. Certainly would not have anybody wait months later to address any issue like that and much less wait for months later for a normal routine exam and vaccinations as they need to be on time. I empathize for any words or assumptions that may have taken out of context. Defamation of Character is a serious allegation and should be handled carefully! I am stating this on my behalf. My heart goes out to your family for the loss of your pet. Please contact our office manager for any additional records needing to be sent to any vets ofc if requested by the owner.

Dr. Airhart saved my puppy! We got a new puppy (Bingo) and she started getting sick. We took her to the doctor and found out she had Distemper. We didnt know much about vaccinations. Our puppy had one shot but was too young when the breeder gave it. She still needed two more shots, but we did not know this. The assistant explained to us when to get shots and about other things our puppy needed. Bingo had to stay 3 days in the hospital. We would visit her unannounced and her cage was always clean. A couple of times a staff member was in her kennel comforting her. They were happy to let us visit any time. Now Bingo is home, happy and healthy. Thanks to everyone at Town East Animal Hospital we now know how to take care of her so she can be with us a long time!

I recently moved to the area and needed a veterinarian. Dr. Airhart was highly recommended so we took our 3 dogs in for checkups and shots. We got what we went in for, without coming out having paid for alot of unexpected services. My uncle is a vet in Austin, so I am aware that some places will get you in for a small exam fee, then pile on the charges for things that may not be needed. The staff was helpful and friendly and made us feel like our pets were their own. We highly recommend this veterinary hospital.

I have been a client for 20+ years and have never had a bad experience. I recommend Dr. Airhart to all my friends. He is one of the less expensive vets in the area. When Puff was sick, he discussed test and treatment options and let me decide what I wanted to do, since money was an issue. The staff was very helpful and offered me a couple of different payment options, so I was able to pay it out. They treat my pets with love and affection and even gave my little boy a balloon! My dog always gets a treat when he leaves. I love this vet!!

My cat had a urine infection and was very ill. This vet told me he had to drain his bladder, and start antibiotics on him. They kept him over night. After two repeated calls to try and get information on my cat that day, they called me a half hour before closing, and told me I could bring my cat home. I paid the bill, and they brought my cat out in a carrier I had left, It was closed and I could not see him well. The vet was not available to talk to, and receptionest instructed me on how to administer the medicine she had for him. She said it was ok for him to be around my other cats, and let him do what ever he wanted. When I got home the cat could not move and was dieing. I tried to phone, and had to leave a message at the office because it was closed. To make a long story short my cat suffered and died that night. They sent my cat home dieing. You did not need to be a vet to see that. How heartless is that. They did not even have the decency to call me back. Please DO NOT USE THIS VET. HE AND HIS STAFF ARE TERRIBLE, AND TREAT ANIMALS TERRIBLE.. .

Dr Airhart is the best, however Evelyn is very insensitive and uncaring. My dog is dying this morning and because I do not have the money to run any tests, I am just to let my dog die or find someone else that will work with me. My family has used Dr. Airhart since before I was born. I am absolutely appalled at Evelyn's responses to me. I was asked if my son was sick and needed to go to the doctor, how would I pay for that. I explained that my doctor would allow me to pay it out. It is really a shame when a VET clinic cares more about MONEY than the ANIMAL. I know that bills have to be paid, however THIS IS CHRISTMAS!!!!! HO HO HO..bah humbug

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE IF YOU WANT IT TO LIVE!!! It pains me that I have to write this. I had been a VERY long time client of Dr. Airhart's until his staff killed my dog. I took my dog in for routine shots and Jeani, the assistant manager, assisted me that day as I didn't have the time to wait to see Dr. Airhart. During her exam on my dog she noticed a lump and I asked her opinion as she talked like she was very educated and experienced. She said it was nothing. Due to the fact my dog was a little older I was very concerned and asked if Dr. Airhart should check it. She assured me that she has seen the same lump on other dogs many times. She diagnosed it as a "fatty growth" and said it was harmless. So like a fool I believed her and took my dog home. Several months after that my dog started feeling very sick so I called to try to talk to Dr. Airhart or a technician of his. The receptionist, Jackie, was downright hateful to me and said that she would have to call me back because she was to busy to handle my call or get someone else to. I never recieved a call back. That Saturday I took my dog in to see Dr. Airhart. I once again had a horrible experience with Jackie. I was never greeted and when she was having difficulty locating my file she was so rude to me. She was practically yelling at me in front of the entire full waiting room! I asked to peak to her manager but she said there wasn't one there. I got so upset I just left and took my dog to my "back up" vet that I use whenever Dr. Airhart is not available. It turns out that the lump Jeani had told me not to worry about was cancer and my dog ended up dying, The vet I took him to said that had we caught it just a little bit sonner he most likely could have survived. I told him about what had happened and he told me he had heard similar stories from other clients about Town East Amimal Hospital. I do not blame Dr. Airhart for this so I have not taken legal action. I will however never return to his practice and advise everyone who loves their pets to do the same. Dr. Airhart I highly reccomend you make some changes concerning your "girls" if you want your practice to survive.

There is not enough room on this web page to give an accurate description of the terrible experience and service I had with this office. The veterinarian should not be practicing any longer. He not only almost killed my pet (who only survived due to a second opinion and a QUALIFIED veterinarian??s office) he was also very unprofessional.
While he was examining my pet, Dr. Airhart proceeded to explain to me that the reason why vaccinations are so important now days is due to the increasing Mexican population. He said that all of the illegal immigrants in Texas are ignorant and below poverty level and that this leads to them not immunizing even their children and this is why Whooping Cough has came back in humans and why canine diseases are showing back up. Wow! What arrogance! He then proceeded to tell me that people that bring their pets in with Cancer and other deadly diseases that he just wishes they would let them die because it was just selfish to save them.
What kind of vet is this? I don??t know if he has been in the business too long or what but I have NEVER experienced and individual like him before. He did not even perform a full exam of my pet before diagnosing him (which ended up being a wrong diagnosis) but he actually refused to exam the things I asked him too.
The staff at his office was actually very good. I??m not sure how they work in an office with a man that seems to care NOTHING for animals but I assume they are trying to take up the slack for his incompetence. The only other person that I had a bad experience with other than the ??Doc? himself was Jetta Tacker the Office Manager. She was rude to me in person and was rude to me on the telephone. She was also VERY rough with my pet. She was so rough that I found myself secretly hoping she would get peed on or bitten ? I find her posts on this site about the office and herself somewhat humorous considering that anyone who has dealt with her knows that she does not find your pet ??precious? and clients are not important to her or the ??Doc? at all (unless they are not of the Hispanic ethnicity-Doc??s words, not mine).
I would not recommend this place to anyone that cares about their pets or their dignity. I hope for the sake of the community that the word gets out about this place and pet owners take the pets to VCA or one of the other CARING clinics in the area.

The staff has never been rude to me, but I don't care for Dr. Airhart. He likes to talk more than listen and he often goes off on tangents that have nothing to do with the situation. Since he is a lot older, I feel like he is "set it his ways" regarding treatment and doesn't open up to any 21st century medicines. For example, he doesn't believe in systemic flea control, only topical, because "anything that stays in the body killing things cannot be good" and he'd rather pump my allergic dog full of steroids that are continually getting less effective rather than seek new ways to manage her skin condition. She broke out in a bad rash with pustules and he never fully examined her and dismissed my idea about antibiotics because he told me they were worse than steroids on a dog's body. (Later at another vet, the Dr. prescribed my dog antibiotics for a short period and told me there was very minimal risk of any damage but monitored her bloodwork just to be safe and the pustules and redness cleared up without any problems.) Last time I brought in an internet source to talk about and I got so frustrated that he wouldn't open up to any new possibilities and he got really mad, raised his voice at me and made me cry. I told myself I'd never go back and have since been to another wonderful vet who prescribed my dog a "new" (FDA-approved, on the market since 2003) medication that he dismissed but has finally been the only thing that has worked to keep her allergies under control and it's safer to keep her on long-term unlike steroids. I transferred my pet's records and have never been back.

Worst vet in Mesquite! They are rude to the customers, they don't treat the animals very nicely - not sure how they have any customers left! And Dr. Airhart, well, all I can say is I hope he's treated with the same respect he gives his customers and their animals - everyone would be better off never going to this man for animal services!

Was treated awful by the receptionist! I've been going to this vet for years and had never seen this woman before so she must be new. I took my new puppy in because she had runny poop and the lady at the front desk was very rude and gave me the third degree and looked down her nose at me for not having a answer to all 20 of her questions. Plus she couldn't get my name right and took forever to find my chart. The nurse was very nice and apologized because I wes so upset when I got in the room. I had to go back a couple of weeks later for shots and the same lady was there and I watched her do the same thing to someone else. I hate to give a bad review based on one person but I probably won't go back now because I'm not going to pay money to be treated badly.

I have used Dr. Airhart's services for 30 plus years. He saved our lab's life. This kind of experience is priceless. I highly recommend Dr. Airhart to those who need expert care. He also understands when you do not want to spend 500.00 to save an animal. Very much like a good old fashioned country vet, and the prices are also very reasonable, too.

This clinic is one of the best and all is very caring. No where have I known of a clinic that would lay down a quilt on the floor to make the dog more comfortable since she did not have her master's bed to lay in, or to hand fed her to get her to eat. When we lost our Wiggles, everyone cried, and it was so nice to get a card from the entire staff. Dr. Jim explains in great detail what is happening. When I say to our dogs that they have to go to see Dr. jim, they all fight over going. They love all of the staff and we love all of them.Breeding Bulldogs, you need a touch notch vet and Dr. Jim is one of the best. We all love him and his staff. God bless him for the work that they do.

Terrible vet! I took a stray I found into the office for treatment. The doctor suggested that I not waste my money on it and the staff acted like they did not want to touch him. Very Sad! Then when I tried to hang a photo of him I was told the doctor does not allow clients to post lost and found signs. Again very sad. Bad business.

My experience with this clinic was great. My daughter had a guinea pig that was very sick with a skin condition. It was hard to find a vet who would even see a guinea pig but this office didn't have a problem. Once Dr. Airhart saw our little guy he did everything he could to figure out what was wrong. He even sat holding the guinea pig, staring at his skin through a microscope, for 20 minutes trying to see if there was some type of mite. The medication Dr. Airhart gave our pet worked very well for about 4 days but I had unfortunatley waited to long to take him to the vet and he was so sick he passed away. I didn't know what I did wrong or why it happened so I called Dr. Airhart's office to see if there was some explanation behind his death. Dr. Airhart called me back with 20 minutes and sat on the phone with me for 15 minutes explaining what happened. He was very understanding.I would suggest this veterinarian and his office to anyone who cares deeply for their pet or has children with pets. My daughter felt much better when I relayed to her what the doctor had explained to me. Not many people understand caring for a guinea pig but Dr. Airhart didn't judge. He cared for our pet to the best of his ability.

Our beloved Beau (choc lab) has been a patient of Dr. Airhart since the day we brought him home two years ago. We have had NOTHING but positive experiences at the office with ALL the staff.Dr, Airhart has been in practice for many years and is a wealth of information. Beau loves going to see "the girls" and they treat him like a king (with treats too) when he is there! I would trust ANYONE else with Beau and his care!

I took my cat there because I thought she had some type of virus and I was ready to do all kinds of testing. Doctor Airhart examined my cat and turns out she has an upper respitory infection. We got some anitibiotics and she got an injection. It has been 4 days and she has already shown signs of improvement. I am glad i have found him. He was very conservative with her meds and she is so much better. I am sure I would have spent more money and got less time with my cat had I went somewhere else. Thank you.

Pros: Local, full service and conservative

Cons: Thursdays he's in too late

He struck my cat right in front of me. What does he do when you aren't there?\r\n\r\nHe tried to give my cat a pill and when the cat pulled back, he walloped him.\r\n\r\nWhen I took the cat home, I checked his mouth and he had an infected tooth, so I took him to another vet who did the dental on him.\r\n\r\nDr. Airhart should have known the difference between a cry of pain and an attitude. My cat was old and that ""person"" stuck him without a moment's hesitation and not one word of apology.\r\n\r\nI have heard stories from others, but will allow them to write their own review. This man now has an office next to the new Mesquite Animal Shelter. Beware people.

We took my dog in awhile back and the doc was able to tell that she had a sprained back without taking extensive tests. He was right on cue! After a couple of days with muscle relaxers, she was back to normal being playful and feeling great.
