This is a great find. They have good food, reasonable prices, and nice atmosphere. Make sure you make a reservation if you are going around 8pm. It's my go to restaurant on Santa Monica and it works for just about any occasion.

I come here quite frequently and the food has been consistent and delicious. I love the green drink....so delicious and very good for you (added bonus!)

Now I can't speak for most of the items on the menu but I will speak for what I have

This is the first restaurant to which my dear friend brought me when I first moved to Hollywood. I have been going faithfully ever since... Delicious food, Incredible selection of Teas (which my mom LOVES whenever she visits), Vegetarian

Great french toast with strawberries. It can get busy so get there early if you want breakfast. I've never been here for lunch or dinner. Minimal parking in back.

Loved the food and the sidewalk view. The location is great for people watching. I had trouble deciding what to get on the menu because there were too many things that looked good. The food is very satisfying and the service was great.

This is one of the many brunch places I tried within a month span in West Hollywood. I loved the healthy, organic foods they offered. Loved my bloody mary, too. The food tasted very fresh. Not comfort food cause it was kinda healthy. I liked it, but you have to be in the mood. Good price and expect a deli, crowded atmosphere.

1 associate who prepared and gave me my to-go order was very friendly. The associate who took my phone order was a bit stoic.

I asked if they validated, only to receive a smirk and remarked that there is a $3 fee after 6PM ( which ended up being $4) for a five minute pick up.

Food is above average.

never seen anything like it. Great guy. Treats the staff amazingly well.

Food is great, service is great. Starts from the top down, people.

If the great food isn't enough for you, or the people watching not interesting, then go because of the respect that is given to the employees. Places like that should be supported!

Not that I dislike eggs, but tofu in a scramble is a yummy unique change of pace! I got a scramble loaded with cheese and veggies. It was a decent price for good quality food. We also saw the girl that played J-Lo's assitant in the Wedding Planner :)

My favorite place to get breakfast in LA. The mimosa comes with a do it yourself kit of fresh squeezed OJ and a mini bottle of champagne. The food is organic and the restaurant is very big since the renovation, though the bathrooms are the sometimes typical onesies. The wait can get intense between 11am and 2pm on weekends, but the free and spacious parking out back makes up for the occasional wait. I am an eggs benedict man but the more California style breakfasts are delicious as well. Healthy eaters will find plenty to choose from. Great expresso too!!!

I used to eat here more than once a week, but ever since they re-opened after the remodel and everything I haven't been too impressed. The atmosphere and food suffer compared to what it used to be. It was always just a nice, casual place to grab a quick bite, but I don't find myself going unless I have to.

I was surprised to read all of these positive reviews. I had breakfast there today and it was absolutely terrible. I had eggs benedict and I've seen and tasted better at a Denny's in the middle of Nebraska. My partner had some sort of tortilla egg scramble which was just indescribably odd, and the potatoes were dry and overcooked. While I'm at it, the coffee was terrible. I eat out a lot in a lot of different cities and countries, and I know good food. Hugo's doesn't have it... Hugo's is a no-goes for me!

Every few weeks, something or someone reminds me of Hugo's and I immediately begin to salivate. Almost invariably when I go to Hugo's in West Hollywood, I'll order the skirt steak vera cruz. It comes with a great dipping sauce with the perfect kick. The side dishes are great too, making for an overall great dinner. Order their strawberry shortcake (when in season) with the sweetened fruit glaze and you'll be in heaven. Generally the place is popular but not usually enough to have a wait. And somehow I always do find parking in back, which is absolutely necessary here in West Hollywood. In a word, a GO.

Some of the best restaurants in LA are often indicated by how prepared you have to be in advance if you want to get a table. Hugo's is no exception (for breakfast anyway). It's been a neighborhood favorite FOREVER. And it's even better now. More light, airy, and comfortable (i love the booths--very "in crowd"). Food's still great, maybe even better. I was always one to go in for breakfast, but with the fresh dinner and drink menu it makes for a great night spot too. Grab dinner, then go to whatever's next for you that night. I like that I can either eat comfort food (mmmm, mac n cheese) or something more healthy (love the salads!). They lean adventurous without going too far. And they do the muddled fruit & herb drink trend well (can you say Mojito).

In conjunction with the comment "thinking twice before you eat at Hugo's," I went to the LA County Health website and looked up the violations myself. The vermin this person spoke of unfortunately are very hard to control. which is why the restaurant was closed, but it never said anything about "prevention of entry," nor did it give exact reasons. It gives examples as to why they were in violation, but doesn't say specifically that they were using unclean untensils. In college, I worked as a server and as gross as it is, most restaurants have to struggle with controlling vermin. I eat at Hugo's regularly and was disappointed that it was closed for close to two months. During that time, they did a complete overhaul and remodel. The place looks great, but I think that it's louder now, which I'm not fond of. I was happy to see the same great menu and many of the same smiling faces. I can also say that I haven't seen a single insect, so I think that they have taken care of that problem.

hugo's is our favorite neighborhood spot to go to for comfort food. really tasty soups of the day, salads and rolls. both vegan and vegetarian options are available and still have lots of flavor, and we're not vegetarian. we've never had to wait for long because the restaurant seats quite a large number of people and service is brisk.

breakfast/brunch at hugo's rocks, it's definitely one of the best places in l.a.

just one problem - the service here is horrendous with a capital H, so if you're already hungry when you arrive, there's a chance you'll pass out before you even get your food. but if you do manage to get served, it's worth it.

You know when you leave a restaurant feeling disgustingly full? You will not feel that way after Hugo's! They use only the freshiest ingredients -- their sesame chicken salad has real orange segments, not mandarin oranges from a can! The pumpkin pancakes are another must, as are any of their teas. Get there early on the weekends or expect a wait!

I found this by accident while driving home from Cedars. What a FIND!!! I've been back 4 times since. There is significant care taken with high quality ingredients, like the chicken. My last great one was the risotto with mushrooms/chick, but the turkey appetizer was my first love from the first time. The carrot soup was one of the all time best evers. And the blueberry pancake (upside down) had one of the greatest concentrations of blueb's. A personal favorite has been the red pearl tea which I have never seen in any restaurant...and haven't seen anywhere else for sale. They do have a fantastic selection that can be bagged and bought there.

Tried this spot for breakfast after a long night at the clubs in West Hollywood. It's not the typical greasy spoon one might be seeking after an evening on the town, but the food is surprisingly tasty. If you're into counting calories and fat grams, I'd give this place a shot.

I came to Hugo's after reading reviews on Citysearch. The reviews were accurate to the experience. Granted, it was a Thursday, but service was adequate. The knowledge of the server however was exceptional. She knew about everything on the menu. Suffice it to say, you can just put the menu down and ask the server what is good. We ate vegetarian meals that were outstanding. The price was compariable to the ambiance. I recommend this for anyone who wants a great meal in a great part of town.

I hate waiting so I was almost scared off by some of the other reviewers' warnings about Hugo's being overcrowded. However, my wife, daughter, and I came in on a Saturday morning around 9:00am and were seated immediately. Upon leaving one hour later, patrons were still being seated immediately. We found the atmosphere to be very pleasant and enjoyable. Unlike some other breakfast spots, Hugo's did not have the fast-food/diner ambience; rather, it was more like a restaurant. We felt like the staff were friendly, and we plan on returning. Lastly, they provided a child seat for our one-year-old and there was ample space between patrons.

Hugo's is simply one of the best restaurants in LA. It's not overly expensive and yet some of the best food you will find. Hugo's also has a great selection of vegan or healthy plates along with a myriad of teas for practically every purpose. Also the ambiance is always fun and cozy, and the staff really friendly, not too mention good looking!!! Also, if you come to meet her, weekend manager Jasmine is amazing and loveable.

i highly do not recommend the eggs benedict. how hard is it to toast an english muffin, keep the meat off and prepare a good sauce? the staff was polite and friendly, but if you are sitting outside, they use plants to block the sun. this place is overall too over priced for the quality of food you get.

I went for brunch. It was great! The service was wonderful. Someone was always checking on us. I brought my 2-year old. The only thing is the tables are a little close. But the food was excellent and the options were great. Oh I didn't like the hot chocolate that was the only down fall. Just wasn't chocalatey enough or sweet enough.

This is by far the best brunch spot in Los Angeles. Not only do they have a great selections of meals, teas and juices, but everything I have tried has been excellent.

Hugo's is also a fun place to take out-of-towners, as it is a good place to spot celebs.

If the wait is too long, try Caffe Latte, a Hugo's spinoff - same high quality of food and service, smaller menu.

I went to Hugo's with my husband on a Sunday. The crowd was hip and beautiful but the wait staff were apparently thinking about that day's audition because service wasn't up to par. I tried the Pasta Papa and was less than thrilled although my husband's pankcakes were fab. I saw Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit fame come in with an entourage - which was a highlight of the meal. I'd go again.

I loved this restaurant!!

I shared an order of the Pineapple Upside-Down pancake and it was pure heaven!! My friend loved it as well. She also got the Desauno Fuerte (sp?) and she absolutely LOVED it.
The coffee was good, the servers were nice, and I even spotted a celebrity having breakfast with her baby.
We went back a couple days later with our dog and sat outside. It was GREAT!!!
There's outside parking, and if the lot is full, there's free parking across the street. It cute and cozy.

The era of celebrity-watching at Hugo's may have waned, but the innovate and high-quality food endures. The Desayuno Fuerte (poached eggs and vegetables over potato panackes), the Papa's Eggs (eggs scrambled with bacon, sausage, scallions), and the Chilequiles (tortillas, eggs, and sausage in chipotle sauce) are always reliable, and the specials are often hard to resist.

The specials at Hugo's sometimes sound bizarre, but don't be afraid to try them. I have never been disappointed. All the food is fantastic, the staff is friendly (with an occassional exception, but they don't seem to last long), and they have a six page tea menu! The dining room can be noisy, but the patio is peaceful and usually offers a good view of lots of cute dogs. Prices are reasonable and portions large enough without being ridiculous.

Only been for breakfast but they serve lunch and dinner as well.

The food is mainly organic variations on traditional breakfast fare. The pumpkin pancakes are delicious. But if your guests are in the mood for typical breakfast foods, this really isn't the place to go.

Their menu of teas, coffee and juices is practically twice the size of the food menu so if you like your morning beverages, this is the place to go.

This is a great place for breakfast. The breakfast pastas are terrific (not bad with light or no oil either). Pasta Mama if you only want to spend $8.25 (this place isn't the place to go for a cheap b-fast) or Past Amelia for $9.25 are good bets. Eggs benedict or Cinnamon French Toast are also really, really good. West Hollywood crowd makes for good people watching.

Eggs benedict or Cinnamon French Toast are also really, really good. West Hollywood crowd makes for good people watching.
