This review is actually in response to the review posted by nicoleelizabeth. It's actually quite a bummer to see that you can let one person get you SO down. That was actually a really horrible review considering that the Wavehouse has SO many amazing things about it. So there was a rude bouncer?! Trust me when I say that it won't be the last time you run into one of those at a bar. I will be honest and say that some of the bouncers are very aggressive, but can you blame them? The Wavehouse has managed to keep their establishment family friendly for a reason. I'm sure the parents of the world are really happy that the bouncers have a little attitude; they need it to stand up to those "under 21" bunch who try to get an "over 21" wristband with their older brother/sister's ID. Ok, enough of that; let's talk about what's most important here - THE WAVEHOUSE! As already mentioned, this establishment is family friendly and has still managed to maintain the vibe of being that fun, hip, beach spot you really want to be seen at. The bouncers do NOT stand for inappropriately exposed body parts and will ask you to leave b/c they know that a 12-year old may be sitting at the next table. However, for those of you who have surpassed puberty, you will be pleased with the amount of skin that is allowed - (it IS a beach mind you). The Wave(s) are not only available to the public to ride, but extremely entertaining for those who don't dare. Loud fun music, moderate food, (when your buzzed, you won't care), a crowd to keep your eyes busy all day long... not to mention a few ways to get wet, the Wavehouse is a Mission Beach landmark and is one of the best spots on the beach. Parking can be a pain on weekends, especially in the summer. But trust me when I say - it's totally worth it.
Pros: Under 21, Outdoors, on the ocean, fun vibe
Cons: Can get really crowded.
