I've been going to Presidio Way for the past 10 years now and Dr. Bloom has been the primary Vet for my pets. He has always been thorough and given my pets the best veterinary care possible. With the exception of the parking being an inconvenience because of the location, I still recommend them. I don't think their prices are anymore than other vets and you pay for quality when you go here.

I started with Presidio Way in the mid-seventies when they spayed my dog. I stuck with them through four other dogs until I had to move away a couple of years ago. I can only speak about the two vets that started the place, Drs Bloom and Phillips. They're great and when I move back to San Francisco, I'll be going back to Presidio Way.

My dog had a minor problem so I took him to Presidio Way Veterinary Clinic. Everyone on the phone was great, a little paper work to get started, but nothing out of the norm. However, once we were seen by the Vet, I know we were in for trouble. She wanted to do TONS of tests and seemed very unfriendly. I left without any tests and went to another vet down the road. They figured out what was wrong with my dog during the exam, fix him up and he was good as new. PWVH wanted 600 dollars..........for tests, etc. I paid less than 65 bucks........and my dog is perfect. I'd never go back there (even tho the other staff was great).......Money is all they care about!

We've taken our dog to Presidio for about ten years. Other than a very minor billing glitch, everything has been fine. Great office staff, assistants and Doctors. They truly care about their patients, and it shows. Costs are high at ANY Vet nowadays, that comes with the territory. Their hours of operation are very convenient, and getting an appointment is fast and simple.

First off the front office was very pleasent. The doctor recommended unnecessary, costly testing. The doctor himself was OK, he did his job but nothing stood out. The back rooms have a cluttered feel with stuff laying around, I guess just from a lack of space.
In all it was a costly, unfulfilling visit.

Presidio Way Veterinary Hospital is great! The doctors are thorough and really seem to care about the health of your pet. They can push a little bit for testing and excessive care, but I think that is in the interest of good medicine. They also have great recommendations for holistic animal care providers in the city and have an emergency twenty-four hour help line. I have called them more than once when my dog has gotten into bad things. I would recommend it, but be ready to drop some cash.

I've brought 6 pets here over a period of 15 years. We've seen mostly Dr Phillips and Dr Hazenow, but have seen the others at times. Sandy and Ken have drawn on their own extensive knowledge base, and have spent hours conducting research to make sure the diagnosis and treatment of our "furkids" is the most appropriate to their (and our) needs. They call back regularly to check on progress, and never miss making a call to report on test findings, etc. Although we've moved 115 miles away, we're still clients and patients.

Pros: flexible, conscientious

Cons: parking!

I've been taking our pets (4 dogs, 3 cats) to PW for 12 years, seeing primarily Dr Phillips and Dr Hazenow. They have provided consistently outstanding care. They take time to research unusual problems, consult with specialists, make referrals as needed, and hug, pet, and kiss their "patients". They explain the problems, the alternatives, and the costs, answering all our questions.

I've recommended them to my friends; none of them have been disappointed and all have become fans.

Parking can be a pain, and they aren't cheap (but I've heard of similar fees being charged by other practices, so I imagine they are not overpriced).

My cat means the world to me but like so many people I don't have thousands of dollars to spend on him. Presidio Way at first comes across as a very costly place - located in upscale Laurel Village and frequented by some wealthy looking clientele. I was at first taken aback by some of the costs involved in my cats procedures - and it seemed like he needed a lot more done than I had initially imagined. BUT, soon after his dental operation he appeared vibrant and happy - not like his previous experience (with another vet) getting sick from the anesthesia and falling down all over the place. That alone impressed me very much. Dr. Hazanow came across as very knowledgable and explained exactly what needed to be done and why. Other places may be cheaper, but this place is top notch.

Pros: great vets

I have a problem doggy. She has problems (>$38,000). I have gone to this hospital for a long time and I know the doctors. Stick with Dr. Moran. He loves animals and is the most caring and involved vet I have ever had the pleasure to deal with.

Front Desk Staff = Dedicated, Passionate and Professional

Doctors = Personally I have only seen Dr. Bloom, but he is amazing. I have never questioned my bill and if i did I know I would get any honest answer. This man is dedicated and a real pro.

Cost = Considering what measures are taken to ensure no mistakes are made, the cost is not as bad as people make it out to be. Just because you got your cat for $20, doesn't mean that their life is only worth that much. I adore all my pets and would no anything for them, even though I'm not a wealthy person. If you can't afford an animal (Food, Medical and Love), don't have one. If your not willing to do what it takes to care for them, don't be selfish. Veterinary medicine is as technical as people medicine and costs can reflect that.

Don't go here! The worst vet experience in my life. Brought my 10.5 year old golden retriever to have tumors looked at. All I got was completely unnecessary anal(anal is not a naughty word) gland removal, unnecessary ear cleaning, and unnecessary ear medication for $160. Didn't do I thing I asked them to do and only did things I directly asked them not to do. These are not vets they are absolute liars. They certainly didn't care about my dogs health, only how much money could they steal from me. Avoid this place!

Some users expressed a concern over the extra costs for tests that they may have deemed unnecessary; my experience has not been the same. Our vet has never suggested tests or treatments that our dogs did not need. Dr. Sandy Hazanow is thorough without being extreme. She will determine what the client's interests are and work from there. She'll let you know the difference between a test/treatment that is necessary and those that may be optional, depending on your needs.

The staff has always been friendly and caring -- we especially appreciate all the support we had through our senior dog's final days before her passing and the sentiments we received from the staff afterward.

If you decide to make an appointment at Presidio Way, be sure to ask for Sandy - she'll treat your pet with all the love he or she deserves.

I have had my beloved dog for 7 years and we have had many emergencies (and non-emergencies that seemed like emergencies) during that time. As a result, I have been to countless vets getting care for my boy. I have never experienced more warmth, understanding, and skill as during our visits to Presidio Way. We have seen several of the vets (all fantastic), though Dr. Moran is our current vet. His down-to-earth nature puts you and your dog at ease immediately. He is thorough without being redundant, and he is always thinking about what is best for the situation at hand. The offices are clean and bright. The ladies up front are kind and informative. I can't say enough about the whole experience. Some vet clinics feel like factories. Presidio Way feels like going to a friend's home.

We've been taking our pets here for 3 years and Dr Moran has always been amazing. Whether it's for routine care or making some difficult decisions regarding our dog's plight with bone cancer, he has always been there for us. Now that we have a crazy puppy who has really been testing Dr Moran's patience (chewed off his cast 5 or 6 times) we wouldn't think of going anywhers else!

Pros: great all around staff, easy to get appt, open on saturday

Cons: sometimes can be a little expensive

Presidio Way came highly reccomended by the specialists at SFVS. I called and got in the next day to see Dr. Moran . He was the kindest, most thorough vet I have ever had, explaining everything and taking time to answer my questions. I didn't feel "nickel and dimed" at all, in fact, he outlined his approach and made it work for my budget. My cat has kidney disease and I know it will be expensive but I am not made of money. The staff was sympathetic and I did not feel judged, like I have at other places. I feel like Milo is getting great personalized care by professionals that actually care about more than money. Dr. Moran gives us the best veterinary experience every time.
The one major drawback is parking - I found out you can park behind Laurel Village shopping center next door, for 90 minutes free. That helps a lot.

You would want the very best care you can find. I cannot speak highly enough of P.W. and the veterinary care that my cat received. They literally saved him. I brought him in after 6 months of treatment at Pets Unlimited, who very nearly killed him and received intelligent, thorough information and advice from Dr. Phillips. He took time to discuss possible problems and the different ways to approach them. He also worked with me on payment. He even gave me his cell phone so that I could follow up with him regarding the results of a test. Cost was only slightly more than P.U., but the quality of care was at least 200% over what I was getting at P.U. My cat is now thriving thanks to these people.

I don't know if it is the affluent area that they are in, but they seem to assume that everyone who walks in is 1) Made of money 2) totally devoted to their pets and therefore willing to do anything it takes. I sort of felt they were milking me for whatever they could charge me, sort of the way an auto mechanic will look for trouble spots in your car and then recommend expensive repairs.

Don't get me wrong, I think they are good vets and do provide good services assuming you can afford every last thing they suggest. I just wish they'd get to know the individuals and the animals a little more first.

Also, beware that you will be charged for every little thing there. You'll be nickeled and dimed until you've spent $250 just for an annual checkup for your pet!

While the service is certainly friendly, every time I bring my dog in for the most minor problems, they recommend numerous tests and procedures that bring the final bill to between $200-600 each time.

I've switched to a less convenient vet seems less aggressive with testing.
