Only wants your money

by zutto

I had heard from others in the neighborhood the place was like a mill only interested in making money. Nonetheless I took my cat their a few times. You see a differfent doctoe every time, and 2 out of 3 doctors II liked. But yes, I did fill like I was in a "mill"
One Sunday I am there picking up meds for my cat, and a good samaritan brings in this adorable kitten that was lying in the middle of 7th ave with cars going over it. They refused to take in the kitten unless someone accepted financial responsibility and ownership for this kitten. The good samaritan was appalled, he said ' but your doctors aren't you" they said that was their policy and would't budge,
I said I would pay for the cat the be cleaned up and checked but couldn't take ownership I said I needed a
few days to try to find him/her a home. So with a large deposit they took in the kitten.
The had the nerve to charge me for an office visit! They did almost $ 300 worth of tests, charged me $ 65 ea say to board this little kitten in a day. The medical tests I understand charging me for, but an office visit and for boarding in a cage? Outrageous.
I did end up keeping this adorable sweet little kitten who sadly died 2 months later from a fatal disease she had all along. A vet I took her to in Manhattan picked up on it right away yet these bozos and their $ 300 worth of tests did not.
Stay away from this place...they really do just care about the $

SCAMSTER ALERT!

by mau1

The groomers here are EXCELLENT. But NEVER EVER take your pet here for medical treatment! That part is nice to people, animals, but determined to grab as much money as possible, not do much. I really know this because I?ve been a cat guardian for over 35 years, know a lot more than the average non-vet person about feline health. It was Sunday afternoon. I was happy somebody was nearby & open--no ER fees. My elderly cat was constipated & in pain. So I went, thinking maybe I could just get it taken care of--her regular vet would have just given her some fluids under the skin, an enema & sent her home. The AK vet stuck a finger in the rectum, but said that doing an enema could cause "damage". So she wanted to hospitalize the cat there for "a few days", costing who knows how much. I said I couldn't afford it, didn't believe it was necessary, & asked if she couldn't just lube the area a little (since she?d put her finger in there) give some fluid under the skin & some oral stool softener. She went out to "check on something". When she came back, she had a 2-night stay with lab tests (after I showed her the 2mo old ones I had) mapped out, costing about $350. I said, "dammit, I said I can't afford that & no way is the cat staying over." I asked again if she couldn't just do subcutaneous fluid & some Colace (oral stool softener). She said they didn't have that. I asked if they really didn't have stool softener in their veterinary office anywhere. She said they another kind but to not swear anymore. Guess she can't watch TV, since they say dammit on TV! They took my poor little pal "upstairs" for over half an hour to do something they could have done in the room with me in about 5 minutes. I was at the counter & asked how much the subcutaneous fluids were. Desk lady said $7. When they gave me the bill, it was $30! I asked why. She: "Oh I thought you said IV fluids". Me: ?How do IV fluids cost less than fluids given under the skin?? She: ?That's just the way it is.?

Pros: open 7 days a week, nice on the surface to people and animals

Cons: everything else
