I recently went to see Ray for highlights and a haircut. I have hada very rough year with the death of my fiance. And so with it being 2 weeks till my birthday I thought I would get my hair done to boost my confidence. I did not have a clue what I wanted but Ray had a great idea. My hair is beautiful!!!! All my friends and family love it!! Its so cute and stylish!!! And the salon was great its very nice inside! And Ray and John are hilarious!! I had so much fun! They made me from a nervous wreck to feeling very pretty again!! I would like to add that my highlights are amazing!! They are so neat and look very expensive!! It was quite a bargin too!! Its a great place!! :) Oh yea, and to the guy who said the place was gross you obviously were in the wrong place! Because the place is great very nice!
I've been going to ray for years and every time i come out feeling like a new man because he gives one mean fade. He can out cut anybody in Ohio. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Thanks Ray
OK...My mother has been going to Cuts Off High for years. She has extremely curly hair, and she ALWAYS comes home with an excellent cut. Not everyone can cut curly hair! I have very wavy hair, so she suggested I try Cuts Off Hair. Ray did a superior job, and I walked out feeling like a million dollars!!! I had not had a haircut in 4-5 years, and I walked in with no idea in mind except I wanted Ray to give me a new style. He took off about 6-8 inches, and "created" a new look for me. My girlfriends L-O-V-E what he did and they want to know where the shop is! Thank you so very much, Ray. I plan to return for shape up, and also will spread the word on your fabulous work! Love it!!
Perfect strangers compliment my hair, and friends tell me I look like I'm sporting a $75 cut. I followed Ray over from his previous location. Nobody can cut my hair like Ray!
I'm a former member of the Ohio State University Marching Band and have had hair cuts from Grandview to the Hamptons in New York and no one can touch how well Ray cuts hair. Nobody knows shape and style like he does. Never-mind the great deal you get at his shop. People all across town are charging over $25 for a man's haircut, he comes in at under half of that.
I do not know why anyone would go anywhere else!
FYI this woman is the roommate of one of my stylist and she told me to do whatever i wanted for FREE because she wanted to see what i thought she should look like. I gave her a gorgeous copper color that actually looked natural and normal instead of the side of a fire engine. So LEAH try getting some therapy before asking people to do what they think looks good on you for FREE!!!!
On a final note she never requested it to be changed, this is the first I heard of it. I want to stress she NEVER asked me to change it. I do not know why she used this forum to address her dissatisfaction with the FREE hair color service, which she gave me carte blanche. To view my work for yourself visit my website.
I came in a few weeks ago lookin to change my look....
Ray (said he wuz the owner) told me he wuz going to do just wut I wanted....ummmmm NO
I told him I wanted my hair to be like a penny.....and wut did he give me???? BROWN!!!!! he made my hair BROWN!!! he had everyone around tell me it wuz red....I no wut red looks like!!! he didnt give me red n he didnt even say hed fix it!!
the cut wuz good but I can go newhere n get that.
BECAREFUL when askin for color!!
I truly appreciate all the feed back. Have a blessed day.
I really have no idea what the raging lunatic who wrote the first review is talking about; the place is impeccably clean and very modern looking. Even if you have crippling homophobia, I really don't see how that applies to getting your hair cut, unless you're an intrinsically hateful person.
I'm a student at OSU, and I've been getting my hair cut there for four years now. Ray and Jake are exceptionally friendly and professional, and always somehow know exactly what I want. Being a student, I don't exactly have much of a budget, but the prices for their haircuts are so incredibly low and the quality and service is so exceptionally high that there's no question in my mind where to get a haircut in Columbus! Especially if you're a student at OSU; it's a quick five minute bus ride down high street to Clintonville--there's no excuse not to give them a try, especially if you're new to the Columbus!
Pros: Great Price!
They recently opened up a tattoo & piercing studio inside of this already shady looking hair establishment. The artists are not certified in OSHA compliant Blood-borne Pathogens or First Aid, the tattoos are being applied feet away from hair cuts. This opens various avenues for infectious diseases to potentially be spread to clients who're simply trying to get their hair cut. I highly suggest you avoid this establishment at all costs... it very well could save your life.
My daughter and I ventured into here looking for a nice place for a haircut and I couldn't even allow her to open the front door on our way out in fear of what could be crawling on the door. My ex-wife is a body piercer and I know for a fact how serious you must be to maintain a safe and sanitary environment. This establishment disregards those necessities and takes a quick dollar at the cost of your health.
STAY AWAY!
Pros: None, they're allowing Tattoos feet away from Hair cutting!
Cons: Uncontrolled Blood-borne Pathogens and Cross Contamination!
I have been going to Ray for years. I have very thick hair that needs a lot of layering and tapering, and he consistently does a high quality job in a flash. It's rare to find a good stylist whose prices are so reasonable.
Pros: High style, low price
Cons: Must be specific about what you want
When my fiance told me last year that I needed to quit wasting my money on overpriced corporate salons and start going to his barber he had been going to for like 10 years, I thought to my self yeah right like I'm going to let a barber even come close to my hair with a pair of scissors or a bowl of dye. It wasn't until this crappy economy set in and I had a bad couple months at work that I decided to put Ray's highlight skills to the test. Let me tell you, I am so glad I did! He uses 3 different colors of blonde on my hair and helps make this natural blonde look better than natural! I am so glad I quit wasting my money on bad roots in less than 2 months and wish I could have found Ray sooner! Ladies, he's not just a barber he is a stylist! Trust me, I am trusting him with my hair for my wedding in October! Parking is tricky especially with the construction on High St. and being on campus so make sure you print off the parking pass on the website.
Pros: Price and Highlights!
Cons: Construction on High
DON'T GO HERE!!!!! Stylist is rude and half listens. Cuts your hair worse than a child. He botched my hair and I will have to wear a ponytail for months. There is bad and then there is HORRIBLE!!!
Cuts off High is the best place to get a hair cut in Columbus! The staff is professional, kind, and attentive. Growing up in southern Ohio as a kid I only had one barber; he cut my fathers hair and my father?s fathers hair after I moved away to serve in the Marine Corps I returned to Ohio from San Diego and the one thing I needed to do was find someone who could cut good hair. My search ended when I found Ray (owner) of Cuts off High; I have been going to Ray for 7 years now and not once have I had an issue. I am also married and a heterosexual male I do take offense to the reviewer who said if you were not gay you would feel uncomfortable; get over it. Let people be who they are and if you are uncomfortable with the way people talk then you need to lock your door and pull the blanket over your head buddy because this world is filled with all types of people; gay straight, black, white, etc? Don?t let this reviewer stop you from going to Cuts Off High you will be missing out on a great hair cut!
Pros: Everything
Cons: None
I've been going to Ray (the stylist) for about ten years now along with several friends, and even my 12 year old son. He does excellent work, his prices are very reasonable, he's friendly, and my haircut is perfect.... every time. And just to respond to what someone mentioned below: I'm not gay by any stretch; and no one there has ever made me feel uncomfortable at all. It's 2008, people... let's not be so closed minded.
Pros: Skilled stylist, friendly atmosphere
Plain and simple. I got the best highlights and cut since i have been in columbus at this salon. The owner was my stylist and he used three different shades of blonde in my hair which made it look really natural and the best part was it wasnt an added cost to do this. The price was really reasonable as well. BTW I also wanted to point out the address on here is wrong. I cant remember exactly what it is right now but you should call and ask.
Pros: highly skilled stylist
Cons: none
I just transferred to OSU and it took forever to find a place where i could get a good haircut and be able to afford it. They only charge 10 bucks (go bucks) and gave me the best haircut ever. I wear a tight fade and my girlfriend has been making fun of me because i kept getting cuts and they would leave a line around my head. This was the first place i have found where you can get a true tight fade.
Pros: great price and quality
Cons: parking is somewhat limited due to construction
***DO NOT GO HERE*** If your not G A Y you will feel very uncomfortable. On top of that the barber is very sloppy and consistently does a half a$$ job. Then complains when you ask for a touch up on waht he missed.
Pros: none
Cons: everything. POS
