I told them I had an emergency, they put me on hold for way to long. When I told them the problem I was having with my puppy coughing and sneezing, also not eating they said I could get an appointment the next evening, with no concern at all, she had an attitude almost as if she did not care. I called Banfield in Yonkers and they told me to" Come In Now". I went to Banfield instead and I am loving the decision I made. Call Banfield instead 914-771-5223, they care about your animal much more. My little Peanut was a priority to them, I also joined there Wellness Plan which has saved me alot of money. Thanks Banfield.

I still take my pets to this place but my gut is telling me to find another and better facility after reading some of these reviews. I agreed with most of them. We are impressed with Dr. Gross though. She is the only reason we return. I cannot stand the animal handlers or the girls behind the desk. No one seems to care about who you are. The animal handlers are too rough and the women behind the desk are indiffferent as hell. I wish Dr. Gross had her own practice. And the place does nickle and dime you which is also annoying when you are a steady customer.

I was appalled to read any negative comments about Central Animal Hospital. I have interacted with them when my beloved Bichon Frisse, Samson was dying and they could not have been more understanding, caring and sincere. Dr. Cheryl Gross is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, kind and professional. Though it is true that it is a "busy" office, the staff are helpful and kind. Being "busy" is a true testament to the skills and professionalism given to the pets entrusted to their care. I am now the owner of a Yorkie and Dr. Gross and Central Animal Hospital are my Yorkie's healthcare providers.

I strongly recommend that anyone desiring excellent healthcare and professionalism for their pet, visit the Central Animial Hospital. If you have to wait for your appointment, it's because they care about each pet.

Thanks so much for your kind review. The veterinarians at Central Animal Hospital truly love caring for pets!

My first time there was to board my animals. I had been going to another vet but felt Central was closer and I had asked around and they were well recommended. While I was making arrangements to board my dog the receptionist asked me the oddest question. "Are you the type that would get upset if your dog were to get "Kennel Cough"?? I thought this was odd but chalked it up to being a new client...I have borded my dog various times for ten years, he is vaccinated for bordatella, he has NEVER gotten sick. I said I was aware there exists a risk, but what I didnt realize was she was telling me...WE KNOW WE HAVE KENNEL COUGH HERE - YOUR DOG WILL MOST LIKELY GET IT - JUST WANT TO GUAGE YOUR FUTURE REACTION
Suer enough, when I pick him up he is very sick, hacking coughing with spasms, vomitting from coughing...I confront the vet and say "you knew you had a contagious disease here - instead of closing your boarding fascility, disinfecting and airing for a few days, you continued to take animals knowing infectional risk!". They even tried to bill me for the anti biotics they put him on! Two weeks my dog was coughing, gasping and vomiting. I had to take him to another vet because I didnt trust anything they told me. Outrageous, irresponsible and malicious - guess making a buck is their REAL priority. Perhaps OSHA would be interested in their unsafe practices...
Do yourself a favor, find another vet

Practice Manager We do our best to resolve any problems with clients in a personal and caring manner. Kennel cough is a very contagious, but mostly benign, infection, and usually resolves itself within 3 days to 2 weeks. Though Bordetella vaccination can prevent some of the kennel cough strains, it cannot protect against all the strains, similar to the human influenza vaccination. Unfortunately, there is no way to predict a contagious pet until symptoms appear. Dogs can become infected any time they come in contact with other dogs -- at the groomer, the playground, or the kennel. Our goal is to provide the best possible care for our cients and their pets.

I have been a client for over 20 years,& Dr. Sills and the rest of the staff has seen me through a long illness and passing of my beloved Bichon Frise, Gigi, being compassionate and as competent as possible. They have cared for my present pet for the past 5 yrs & their boarding service is the only place I would ever leave my pet besides with family. The facility is spotlessly clean & at times may be crowded, but the staff seems to handle the patient flow pretty well. I have been to other vets before this one and believe me, I would never go anywhere else. As far as being overpriced, they are about the same as other vets in Scarsdale/upper Westchester county. When we finally had to put our dog down, Dr. Sills was kind enough to send me a condolence card.

I feel compelled to write this after reading some of the negative reviews here. I have been a faithful client at Central Animal Hospital for over 10 years. After moving to Connecticut I still continue to make the 1 hour trip because of my complete confidence in the staff. They are some of the most compassionate, skilled and knowledgeable vets I know. It was Dr. Gross who helped keep my dog alive, comfortable and happy for 5 years following her cancer treatments. Dr. Sills is the only one who can handle my dog that is terribly anxious when he needs medical care, is not afraid to do so, and does it with understanding and patience.

Practice Manager Any client who experiences an unsafisfying experience at our hospital is encouraged to talk with us directly so we can clear up the issue as soon as possible. We are proud of our caring and knowledgeable health care team, including our receptionists, animal handlers, licensed veterinary technicians, and six full time veterinarians. Your pet's health is our primary concern, and our health care team treats each pet as if it were their own.

I have been bringing my dogs here for over 5 years. The girls at the front desk are very sweet and know me whenever I call or go in. I use Dr. Ben Adi, who is absolutely the best!! Is very caring with my elderly dog. I have also had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Gross and personally think she is a real sweetie. As a dog groomer myself, I know how difficult and demanding some people can be sometimes, and they twist stories around, not willing to realize that maybe it was no ones fault in particular. But some people have to blame someone. I highly recommend this vet as a pet care professional. They have also been open for over 20 years! That in and of itself says something.

The care at Central Animal Hospital is mediocre at best. When my pug was a puppy, she had a limp so we took her in and had her x-rayed. I was told by Dr. Sills that she might need a 3,000 surgery and that I should go to another consultation at Village Animal Hospital to make sure. At this consultation I was told that my dog was just fine. Dr. Sills' colleague even said that he was being alarmist and I shouldn't have needed this consultation. The dog will grow out of it. And she did. I continued doing my check-ups there but now they seem to have a problem with their billing. I received a bill for an extra $35 dollars this summer after my dog's annual check-up. When I called, I mentioned that I pay everything in full when I have an appointment and I had no idea where this extra money came from. The office staff member told me "Sorry, we left it off the bill." Well then, sorry I shouldn't have to pay it. I recently received a bill for $100 with a "Sorry this was left off the bill." Again it was their mistake and again I had to pay. I'm sick of thinking that I've paid for the dog's vet bills and then received an extra charge in the mail (and $100 after the holidays is just not cool). I don't use Central Animal Hospital anymore. They are overpriced to begin with and now their incompetence is just costing me too much money. The care is okay but in Westchester County, there are plenty of good vets.

I called in advance to schedule the free vet check-up that I was promised when I adopted my dog from the Yonkers Animal Shelter. When I registered at the front desk - I told them I was here for my free vet check-up for my newly adopted dog. There was no misunderstanding, and I showed my adoption papers to the staff.
The check-up was OK, and I thanked everyone on my way out.
I have received a bill for $144.99 every month for over a year now. There are now interest and penalty charges being added. The words "free vet check-up" seem to translate differently here.
I've since adopted another dog from a shelter - and unfortunately did not feel comfortable taking advantage of the "free vet check-up" offer - specifically because of this incident.

Business Response:

Practice Manager We do our best to resolve any misunderstandings with clients. We are proud to provide veterinary care at no charge to the Canine Units serving the Greenburgh, Eastchester, and Pleasantville Police Departments and the Greenburgh Fire Department. We also provide free medical care for the animals at the Greenburgh Nature Center, treat avian wildlife, and injured wild animals, such as deer. In addition, we work closely with area shelters and rescue groups, providing medical care at reduced costs, including free examinations for adopted pets from certain local shelters.

I was very unimpressed and quite traumatized by the treatment that both my family and my beloved cat received from this hospital. The front desk was disrespectful to me when it was an emergency situation with my sweet baby. They were told A HEAD of time that we were on our way, and that we needed immediate help, but when we got there the staff was clueless, and they mistreated my cat. They gave the wrong I.V. and it was way too big for a frail, 3 1/2 pound cat who needed to be treated gently. My cat died that day, and I believe it is because of the incompetence of Dr. Gross and the horrible staff [especially some of the vet techs] along with the clueless front desk. The place was NOT clean, and it was crazy to deal with. Stay away from this terrible, wrongful practice who have no problem with using brutality.

Practice Manager Our veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians are here 7 days a week and are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Emergencies can be things such as poisoning, trouble breathing, difficulty walking, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. When we are not availble, we recommend The Veterinary Emergency Group, located at 193 Tarrytown Road (Rte. 119), in White Plains. The facility is located across from the Greenburgh Police Station. They are a 7-day, 24-hour emergency facility,

My dog was sick and my vet was "to busy" to see him. So a friend recommenced this place. I NOW HAVE A NEW VET. I got an appointment that day , the front desk is friendly caring and professional. I then meet Dr. Cheryl Gross what a breath of fresh air. She was caring and understanding. She called me for 2 days to make sure my dog was on his way to a good recovery. This place is spacious, warm and doesn't smell of a vet office at all, they have the sweet smell of scented candles. The wait time was also great the 3 times I have been there I waited no more than 10 minutes. I also had to call Dr. Gross a few times and she always returned my calls. I highly recommend this place. They are an all around caring practice. Price wise I have to say an office visit was very reasonable at 58.00. So I have to give them 5 stars for friendliness, caring, cleanliness, waiting time and price. My Boston Terrier Rockie has found a new Doctor.

I take both of my dogs to Central Animal Hospital. Dr. Grossman, one of the few doctors there, is super nice and a great vet. The place is very clean and a friendly atmosphere. They also board.
