This company is the worse. Great sales staff but if you don't keep a service contract with them, you will be treated like dirt. They installed 2 complete systems in my home at over $10k each. Within 2 years both systems had to be re-built. Out of warranty at 4 years the gas system need to be rebuilt at $2k, it had to be done so we paid, they were in my home making repairs everyday for 2 weeks... because they had the wrong parts. I was latter told that they installed the original system improperly and that's the only reason it burned out in 2 years. Now we have a gas leak, I called to get them to check it out, after all they installed it, they serviced it, they rebuilt it. You'd think they'd send someone right away, NO! They want to charge a $165 service fee for the 1st 30 min. This place sucks!!!

I would like to express my satisfaction and gratitude for the service and professionalism of two of your staff members, John Maksanty and his security install Eric. Aside from doing an excellent job in explaining CroppMetcalfe's security services and installation procedures, both John and Eric insisted that there was a strange smell of gas coming from my basement service room and that I call for immediate emergency service.
I delayed calling until the installer Eric arrived yesterday, and while he was there, the Washington Gas emergency responder arrived and found a very large gas leak coming from a pipe to my gas furnace. There has always been a strange odor in my basement, and had it not been for John and Eric's good sense for me to call for help, the problem would have continued for months/years to come. They both deserve to be commended for going above and beyond their normal sales and installation duties, showing a true sense of concern for your customers safety and security. My family and I thank you for hiring and training such an elite team.

Just spent five hours waiting for them to show (with a window from 12:00 - 5 PM). They finally called at 5:45PM to say they were running late and did I still want them to come. What do you think I told them? Did it just occur to them some 45-minutes after the scheduled appointment to call? Didn't somewhere in the 5-hours they realize they weren't going to make it? If I ran my business they why they do theirs I wouldn't last a day! I'm taking my business elsewhere.

I called them to check out my furnace before winter set-in. Serviceman came and within 15 minutes, turned off my furnace and slapped a label on it saying that it should not be started!

Then he told me I needed a whole new furnace -- mine was too old and had issues! Told me the company would work with me on a replacement furnace.

I told him I wanted him to turn the system back on, that I would decide this matter in the near future. He refused!!

Next day I had a service guy out from a different company. Said my furnace was old, but still functional. Turned it back on and showed me what I should watch for that might indicate issues.

Furnace worked fine in the winter!

Cropp Metcalfe just wanted to sell me a new system!!

3 weeks ago the furnace in my home failed. Within 3 hours of calling CroppMetcalfe, a service technician was here and quickly and efficiently found the problem. Being an older model furnace, he didn't have the necessary part on the truck to repair it, but he was able to perform a temporary repair so that at least we'd have heat until the part arrived.

Worst service EVER received...guy was late, then rescheduled later in day which threw my wifes schedule all out of wack. The guy that did finally come was incompetent and had an attitude the second time he had to come to the house. On top of all that HE NEVER FIXED the problem. Why did he come to the house two times you ask? This is where is gets REALLY bad. Our 2 year old son put a hard plastic ball in our main level toilet. Itwas about 80% the size of the hole in the toilet. The service guy shows up and trys snaking it for about 2 min's and tells my wife that there is something stuck in the toilet and we need to buy a BRAND NEW toilet for $500!! There was NOTHING broke on the toilet so why in world would we need a whole new one...beyond me! She calls me at work and tells me what this idiot did and said so I called Metcalf office to tell them that there is no way in heck I am paying $130 for some guy to come out and poke at it for 2 min's and then tell us what we already told them..."there's something stuck in our toilet"!! I told the manager that Joe idiot didn't even unbolt the toilet off the floor to try and get the toy out and he still aurgued with me and finally reluctantly sent the guy back to the house to unbolt the toilet and actually try to FIX it. So when he came back he unbolted it and half heartly tried to get it out. Of which he never even turned the toilet upside down to try and roll it out. He failed to get the ball out and said we need a NEW toilet!! The ball was just rattling around inside the toilet. I know all this because when I got home there was still some water in the tank, which means he NEVER turned it upside down at all. This is how hard it was to fix: I put OUR video scope into the top of the toilet to watch the ball and then stuck OUR cheap snake into the bottom of the toilet and jiggled the snake against the ball for about 30 seconds and then it fell into the front of the toilet where the camera scope was...I pulled the video scope camera out and the ball just fell into the bowl right behind it...wow that was REALLY hard. ANY REVIEW YOU SEE WHERE THEY INSTALLED A NEW SYSTEM BEWARE BECAUSE THESE PEOPLE ARE JUST TRYING TO SELL NEW EQUIPMENT. Get a second opinion before forking over your hard earned cash to these bandits!!

I called CroppMetcalfe due to some extremely high water bills. We knew we had a leak somewhere, and a decent idea of where it was, but a tech was able to find two additional leaks that we didn't know about, and fixed them both in the same visit. Our water bill is back to normal now. Thanks!

Cropp Metcalfe's service is absolutely dreadful. They sent a technician over two weeks ago to look at a heat pump that they themselves installed several years ago. The technician was obviously not up to speed on the unit, and called back to the office several times to get instructions over the phone. He at first insisted that the fact that the compressor had shut down was "normal", then when reminded that an upstairs units was still working under the same cold-weather circumstances, called back again to his boss for more instructions. He finally reset a switch, charged us $185 and left. The unit worked for about ten minutes and then shut down again. We tried getting an appointment for them to look at the unit again and Robert at CM told us that they would come on February 4. They were a no-show that day (Robert told us that one technician was sick) and we rescheduled for February 9 and Robert promised a technician would be here between 9am and noon. It's past noon right now, and no technician has come, and not even a phone call advising us when they will arrive. Calls to Robert go straight to his answering machine and I've gotten no response.

Sent company to my 80 year old fathers house to find out why Gas Boiler was Not working, Father had 15 year old Sears system with Honeywell Control on it. They said they would show up today but Co$T would be 115.00 for first hour + 35.00 each additional hour +parts. THey told my father that Honeywell control was bad & they could replace it with control that would cost 550.00 dollars!! That is 3 times the cost of the same part from SEARS! WTF? Sears part is a genuine Honeywell switch, Cropp & Metcaffe sold him a White Rodgers switch (lesser brand) for 3 times the cost. Plus they charged him 70.00 in additional time while their tech had a personal phone call & a Bathroom break why we were paying the bill.?? I could see paying 350 for the part but 545.00 for the part alone then paying exorbitant 150 an hour labor charges to put it on? This is OUTRAGEOUS.
My fathers bill was 735.00 tech was there one hour and half only screwed in a 4 bolt switch on side of unit & cleaned the Ignitor. HIGHWAY RIPOFF of elderly people.

Cropp-Metcalfe is FANTASTIC!!!!! They are the best!!!!

I used Cropp-Metcalfe in my old house for MANY years. They replaced my old equipment with a high efficiency system which saved me all sort of money on my utility bills. When I moved to a new house I had them come out and check the existing system which had recently been installed by another company. They found a number of problems (air leakage, dirty filter, and some others) which they quickly corrected. I have a service agreement and they come out twice a year to make sure my equipment is running right. I have also had them make numerous plumbing upgrades in my home and have also had them install a security system. Like I said...Cropp-Metcalfe is the best and I highly recommend them.

I used CroppMetcalfe for a plumbing problem I had a few weeks ago where the pressure valve in the basement was leaking. They were very responsive and the technician was able solve the problem very quickly the same day I called. I would say that I am a very satisfied customer and will continue to use them.

Very poor. Stay away from these greedy people. They told me my service job would cost $600 (just for labor) whereas I checked with another company who would order the exact same parts and they quoted a by the hour labor price which would amount to $172 total! Needless to say, I canceled my order with Cropp Metcalfe. I am still steaming that they would have the audacity to charge this overinflated price for 30 minutes work! The technician told me that's all the time it would take. I wish I could earn $1200/hr!

Stay away from Cropp Metcalf. They clearly saw our emergency as a way to gouge us. The letter O in Cropp should be an A.

Oh, one more thing: the good guys, who saved the day, were Davis & Davis in Maryland.

I had my heat pump unit act up in the middle of a cold streak after a snow earlier this winter. I had to turn off the heat in the morning on a business day. I called Cropp Metcalfe and asked for someone to come out that day/evening to look at it and they informed me I had to wait more than 24 hours to get a service call! Why have a service contract which states "Priority Emergency Service: We service our policy customers FIRST!" if that is not true? I called another company who I had no relationship with and they showed up within 5 hours and got my heat running again. So long Cropp! You are Crapp!

Cropp Metcalfe was extremely quick to help us out. Our AC broke on us a few days ago. We sweated it out for a day in the 90 degree temperatures, then called them up. We scheduled an appointment for a few days later, and then got a call saying someone else cancelled. They came to our house on the 4th of July and told us what was wrong. The next day, an estimator quoted us a price, and now we are scheduled for a new unit to be put in a week from now. That timeframe is great considering it is a very hot summer and the demand for working AC is extremely high right now. They are not always the cheapest but they are quick and efficient.

I recently used Cropp Metcalfe Air Conditioning Heating Plumbing Security Systems to install a security system in my house. They have a ton of options for security systems for any budget. I was very comfortable with there knowledge and was happy with the install. Ive had no problems since. It was a very worthwhile experience.

Cropp Security Systems has a variety of high tech laser devices to protect your home from potential intruders. I love their keypad punch system, which gives you a five digit code to enter your garage and secures the house. I like knowing the police will be alerted immediately if there is a break in, without us having to dial them, in case we aren't home to call ourselves. Reasonably priced, nice selection, timely and professional installation.

We have used Cropp Metcalfe for heating and air conditioning work and have been extremely happy with the work. They do residential plumbing, AC, and heating. They are a bit pricey, but worth the service, as compared to others I have used over the years.
