Overland Veterinary Clinic is reliable, thoughtful, convenient
by ruth f.
I have taken my dogs to Dr Shwartz for about 18 years and felt that he understood us and our animals and tried to keep expenses to a minimum wherever possible.

Good vets: explain thoroughly what is going on and don't try to run up the bill
by louiscabeza
I took our cat to them after being very dissatisfied with our previous vet. The cat was quite ill at this point. Both vets who I saw took a lot of time in examining the animal and did a fantastic job of describing exactly what was happening, what they were doing and what we needed to watch for. Unfortunately, the cat was too sick and ended up being put to sleep to prevent him from unnecessarily suffering. They were extremely sensitive about this process, and even lit a candle at the reception. Also, they did not try to run up the bills. My experience with them was extremely positive.

Save your dog. Stay away from this place
by dogsbestfriend1
They were supposed to spay my dog. Instead they accidentally tied off her bowels. This caused her to die a slow and horrible death. Fortunately, I took her to another vet just before she died. This other vet did the autopsy and found what this vet from Overland had done. Overland didn't even apologize. They were horrible.
Stay away.
Pros: nothing
Cons: incompetent

Avoid it! An immoral owner vet out there.
by asdfg1
I have a diabetic cat and been treated at this clinic for about a year. Every visit I made, I asked the owner vet, Dr. Schwartz, if I should change my cat's diet. But he always gave me the same answer saying " Not necessary, just stick with dry food." So, I have fed my diabetic cat the same dry food and continued to five 5 unites of insulin, which is a very high dose by the way. But I felt something was so wrong about Dr. Schwartz. Thanks to my instinct, I took my sick cat to some clinic in Santa Monica, and new vet suggested me to feed canned food instead of dry food. After visiting to new vet in Santa Monica only 3 times, I was told that my cat no longer need insulin! All my cat needed was to switch diet! which the new vet told me that canned food diet treatment was a very common approach for a feline diabetes!!! Well, now I know why the vet at overland clinic never wanted me to switch my cat's diet. That would be the end of my expensive vet visit! The vet at this clinic was waiting for my cat to get a kidney disease, which is a common complication of diabetes. Latter, I asked Dr. Schwartz to call me on this, but he never returned my call. AVOID IT AT ANY COST!
Pros: convenient hours,
Cons: An immoral vet

Worst Service-Rude Office Staff-
by kokoru
I have visited several times at this clinic. People at the front desk are so rude. Every time I call in to make an appointment over the phone, I get very shabby treatment. What is worse, they do not keep patient's medical record right. Wrong contact info, Wrong numbers on test result, and etc. Even I asked to update and correct my info, they never didi.
Pros: convenient hours, clean office,
Cons: Rude Office staff, Poor managements on patient's medical records

terrible experience with ZERO customer service
by prbound
I made an appointment for my cat, who is 16, and is suffering from a problem that makes her back legs lock up and it is very frightening to witness...I made an appointment...on the books !!! I arrived and was taken at my time--this happens, but I waiting in the lobby why others, who seemed like repeat clients, simply walked in and were seen--THEY DID NOT HAVE APPOINTMENTS. I continued to wait while my 16 year old cat stayed in her box next me FOR 45 MINUTES. I witness the dr. talk over and over again about the same thing to one of his "repeat" clients, while I had to wait and observe...I told the receptionist that they had five minutes before they lost my business...I called friends to ask who they take their pets to, and I found several within 10 minutes who were willing to take me because of the condition of my cat--and remember, I HAD AN APPOINTMENT !!! Needless to say, I was not going to leave my cat in her box any longer than neccessary--THEY LOST MY BUSINESS AND YOU SHOULD NOT GIVE THEM YOURS !!!
Pros: LOCAL
Cons: zero service and care for this pet owner in need
