Nicholas is my Dashound, my buddy and my pet. Actually, I've been his human, ever since we met. My kids are grown and gone, and my wife now lives with god. So, it's a very real blessing for me to have this dog. I found him in the dog pound, where he was left to stay. How could anyone resist from taking him away. They brought him from a storeroom, which was underneath. He had a small stuffed bear, held tightly in his teeth. The toy was from his prior home, and it was all he had. He was scared and lonesome, and his eyes were very sad. I brought him home and loved him, and joined his life with mine. A pair of "bonded buddies" who get along just fine.

We would like to thank you for the expert care you gave "Sophie" our brown lab, after she ate slug bait this past weekend. We appreciate your quick and responsive attention.

We'd like to thank the compassionate and caring staff at Emerald City for taking care of our elderly cat, Norman, and of us, during the traumatic event of having to put him to sleep due to multiple organ failure. Our normal vet is the Cat Clinic of Seattle, but they were closed when Norman was taking a turn for the worse. They had recommended Emerald City. The staff took the time to explain the procedure, let us have as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes before and after the procedure. The vet even consoled us because we were feeling guilty that we weren't sure if we waited too long.
This was one of the hardest days of our lives, but it could have been made worse by another staff. Thankfully, we had the Emerald City staff to help us through this horrible day. Thank you so much.

Thank you so, so much to the caring staff at Emerald City for taking care of my kitty, Boss Tweed, on Christmas Day.

When they saw all the blood in his carrier they took him back right away and made sure he was stable. It turns out a little bit of blood goes a very long way. Whew.

The receptionist gave me my space as I cried my eyes out, yet was very reassuring that Boss was going to be okay. The vet was upbeat and supplied just the right amount of levity to the situation, putting me at ease.

I left Tweedie there for two days, and when I phoned each day they always knew exactly who I was, who Boss Tweed was, and had news to report on his condition. They gave me a copy of his medical records for my regular vet, and I was impressed with the charting and the amount of information contained there. They kept a very good eye on Boss.

When I picked Boss Tweed up they were concerned that the carrier was too small for him, so they gave me a dented but still fully functional and larger carrier for my 17-pound boy. I asked if they wanted me to return the carrier and they said no. Now THAT'S customer service!

Then again, Ella was not on her death bed. I might have felt very differently about the "parents not allowed in the back room" policy or the 30-minute wait, if my cat's reason for being there had been different.

4 stars because I think there could be some improvements made ... the waiting room needs aesthetic work and more stimulating reading material! Maybe some plants? It may be one of the most boring waiting rooms in the Pacific Northwest. Would also appreciate relaxing music as opposed to the hum of fluorescent lights...

I adopted a dog from a legit rescue on Tuesday, and it was horribly sick by Thursday. When I took it into a ""regular"" vet, they tentatively diagnosed her as having pain from her spay stitches. Wrong. By early Saturday morning, I knew my dog was worse than ever, and I took her to EC Emergency Clinic. It turns out that my dog has parvo (she must have gotten it a day or two before she was vaccinated by the rescue's vet). She's currently in her second day of treatment at the clinic, and is already doing significantly better. The vets understand that I have gone over my annual ""dog budget"" in a week, but I am OK with that since she's receiving 24-hour veterinary care, unlike regular clinics where the vets go home in the evening and return in the morning.

The first time I spoke with the vet, she listed 3 possible reasons for my cat's ailment, and listed the two she thought were most important to test right now. And, by the way, she did not recommend the most expensive test, unless the other two were inconclusive. She asked me if I was OK with the first two tests after I was able to look at the cost, and I agreed to have them done. This helped me get a feel (and a bit of a say) for how much I was going to have to pay for the intake, diagnosis, and preliminary treatment (hydration), which I appreciated. When I went in I wasn't sure whether I'd be paying $500 or $5,000, but now I could safely assume it would be in the $500 range.

The receptionist/assistant was friendly and warm but mostly down to business, especially during intake; the doctor was not really one for small talk or warm fuzzies. This did not bother me and I didn't feel like I was rudely treated. I really don't care about my (or my pet's) doctor's work personality as long as s/he is intelligent, conscientious, and technically competent, and I don't understand why some of the reviewers are upset that the doctor didn't act like Oprah or their best friend. This is an emergency clinic, not a day spa...

After my cat was diagnosed, and given a prescription for medication (thank god she didn't need surgery), the assistant showed me how to "pill" my cat and answered all of my (very tired three-in-the-morning) questions about how much bland diet to feed her, what times of day, etc. etc. etc.

Dogs and cats are expensive, and when they get sick on the weekend, it's going to be even more costly. Pet owners who don't understand this are likely to be frustrated with E.C. Emergency Clinic. The assistant was so thoughtful and caring. Yes, they took my dog to the back to be examined, but that's partially because they had to hook her up to an IV immediately. The vet (I forget her name) came out within a few minutes to tell me what tests they'd like to run, and all the possible outcomes. She was honest yet positive and supportive. When I call for an update on the dog, they patiently and warmly give me answers. They call when any treatment plans change. They let me know what to expect in the next day or two. They helped me get an interest-free payment plan so I can afford to save and rehabilitate my pup. Most importantly, they genuinely care about both the dog and me, and it shows. During regular hours, go to another vet to save money. On a night or a weekend, however, don't hesitate to bring your pet to EC.

I took my dog to other clinics trying to find out why in the world he was acting like he was 90.

He wouldn't eat and was loosing weight fast.

The other doctors said the end was near but Dr Corrigan figured out that he had Addisons disease.

It is incurable but a cheap pill you can get anywhere solved the problem.

Why didn't the others figure this out?

If I had gone to Emerald City first, I would have saved my self a ton of money and allot of sleepless

nights.

My Boy and I were treated like we were important. I'd recommend these folks to anyone.

My golden retriever recently had an emergency surgery. I was nothing but impressed with the staff. They were amazing with my dog and were so kind to me during the process. Every single person I dealt with at the clinic was wonderful. Thank you Emerald City for the excellent care for my dog and the kindness you showed me during this difficult time.

I was neither shocked nor bothered by the price tag, which was around $415. Heck, a routine visit to the gynecologist costs me $200 (or would, if I didn't have health insurance) - why should I expect emergency services for my cat to be in any way cheap? When I think "emergency room" I think possibly $1,000's spent...

It seems like everyone either loves this place or hates it. While this is not my favorite place in the world (who loves the emergency room?!?), I feel I need to defend it a little. A lot of the negative reviews seem to come from people who are unwilling to accept that emergency medical care is expensive, period - whether the patient has two legs or four. I didn't think there was anything wrong with the way my cat (and I) were treated. The receptionist went through a list of questions for me and listened to my answers carefully. I know she was paying attention because the diagnosis/treatment papers that I was later given listed every detail that I described, even the somewhat irrelevant details that I was babbling at one in the morning. I didn't mind that I couldn't accompany my cat to the examination room, and I do think that this is a 100% professional policy for an emergency clinic. My immediate emotional reaction was an ache to be with Ella during the ordeal, but I got over it. Let the professionals do their job.

I feel a need to further my positive shout out to this place. The staff very lovingly took care of my beloved dog during her final hours. In the process, they also took care of me.

I thank them for their compassion toward me and my puppy. Their understanding helped me through one of the worst evenings I've ever experienced.

Should you ever need urgent care for your pet, I highly recommend this clinic.

The day I lost my best friend and personal assistant Brutto was the absolute worst day of my life. I credit Emerald City Emergency Clinic for not only being open during the snowstorm, but also the patience and understanding and sympathy of everyone who works there.

When I went in to pick up his ashes and paw print a few days later, the vet assistant made a point to tell me how sorry they were for my loss. Thank you for helping me say goodbye to my wonderful boy. I'll never forget him, and I'll never forget your kindness in his darkest hour.

"My dog had bloat and the Doctors had him on the table in minutes.

They saved my dog and guess what, I didn't have to take out a loan to pay for it.

They worked out a payment schedule.

My dog is still doing great thanks to the fantastic service I got at Emerald City.

I'd go back in a heartbeat."

Last Tuesday you took care of our dear dog Jackson. Thank you for all your kindness, calls to our daughter in Dallas, and your words, "we'll close his eyes". Thank you so much for your kind and caring treatment of Betty last Tuesday. I cannot tell you how nice it was to have you be so throrough and focused on Betty. She is such a sweet dog and you took such good care of her that she is recovering nicely and will be back at it(minus a few teeth!) because of nice, skilled and attentive folks like you. I hope we don't see you at the hospital again but maybe on a nice long walk!!
Thanks so much, I hope you know what a difference you make and how professionally and empathetically you make it.

Best regards-Sincerely

We can't begin to thank you for the care you gave our dog Levi after his chest was cut up by a kitchen knife last Tuesday night. My Newfoundland decided to help clean up the antifreeze that leaked from my Husbands car last week. At first, I didn't know what the problem was until that night when a new puddle appeared from under the car. I rushed our boy to the clinic and they examined him and gave me a quote for treatment. By this time, He was having awfully bad convulsions.
I wait tables and Gregg is in between jobs, so, I was up front and told them I didn't have any money. I was getting prepared for the only solution left, but the Doctor asks, "well, what do we have to work with"? Turns out that they accepted half down and then we worked out a payment schedule. I've had dogs all my life and been to the Vet more times than I can count and this is the first one that seemed to care about how a large bill would impact our family. I'm going back there for all my animal care from now on. Thanks Guys (and Gals), that big furry Bozo is back to his obnoxious self. Barb

Last night my husband and I brought in our 17-yr-old white cat in distress. He was put down after exam.

I want to thank you and the staff for being so kind and gentle in handling the situation. We buried him under a tree this afternoon.

Thank you for being there when we needed you.

Dogs and cats are expensive, and when they get sick on the weekend, it's going to be even more costly. Pet owners who don't understand this are likely to be frustrated with E.C. Emergency Clinic.

I adopted a dog from a legit rescue on Tuesday, and it was horribly sick by Thursday. When I took it into a "regular" vet, they tentatively diagnosed her as having pain from her spay stitches. Wrong. By early Saturday morning, I knew my dog was worse than ever, and I took her to EC Emergency Clinic.

The assistant was so thoughtful and caring. Yes, they took my dogger to the back to be examined, but that's partially because they had to hook her up to an IV immediately. The vet (I forget her name) came out within a few minutes to tell me what tests they'd like to run, and all the possible outcomes. She was honest yet positive and supportive.

It turns out that my dog has parvo (she must have gotten it a day or two before she was vaccinated by the rescue's vet). She's currently in her second day of treatment at the clinic, and is already doing significantly better. The vets understand that I have gone over my annual "dog budget" in a week, but I am OK with that since she's receiving 24-hour veterinary care, unlike regular clinics where the vets go home in the evening and return in the morning.

Our one year old Border terrier decided to chase a cat under the wheels of a car - the cat escaped but dog was rolled over by a car wheel. We went to Emerald City as the dog began deteriorating (wheezing, glassy eyed, incontinent). Over the next couple of days they took care of the dog through the critical period when it was not clear whether or not she would live or die. She lived, and in the end my impression was that although they were not coddling, they were honest, competent, professional, and communicative.??
