Santa Monica Pet Medical Center

I love this place! The main people, both doctors and staff, have been there for the entire 12 years I've been coming here. The treatment I receive is top notch - people are polite, efficient and remember pets that have long since passed away. The doctors are excellent and dedicated.

I have been a client of Santa Monica Pet Medical Center for over 15 years. The quality of their doctors is unmatched! Their management staff have all worked there for over 12 years. They have treated all 5 of my dogs, all 5 of my cats, my rabbit and my pet rats. The caring and compassion the doctors and staff have for animals is the best I have ever seen (whether in the Midwest where I'm from or the Valley where I used to live). They recently renovated their whole building (which was hard to live through), but the results are amazing! The hospital is clean and open and they bought a bunch of new equipment to better take care of my remaining 2 dogs and rabbit. I have and will continue to recommend them to all of my friends!

Dr. Mary Isaacs is the best veterinarian in the world. She knows everything about animals. She really cares about my dogs.

Thrilled I found these guys hidden on a side street. Discovered them while getting my brakes done nearby. Busy place, very clean and modern, I guess it has been there for 40 years or something. 5 doctors. Definitely not a corporate outfit, family owned and operated. Just what I have been looking for. Great staff with a sense of humour. They actually enjoy their jobs from what I saw. My dog was very comfortable there and had fun? He is normally not good in such a setting. Good karma I guess.

We have recieved excellent care for our dog Cyrus and eight-year old Lab-Rottie mix, from Dr. Holtan. Even though he is mostly retired now, we still wait for him to come. In a pinch, we like to see Dr. Yuan, who has such an easy going manner.

Recently Cyrus has benn in for a drippy eye and for an upset stomach. he also is now on medication for his thyroid.

Dr. Holtan and Dr. Yuan always explain the diagnosis clearly and make sure we understand things in order to make clear decisions. Although Cyrus growls at any other animal in sight, it doesn't bother the doctors or staff, they gently give him a muzzle and he is ok then.

The staff is so wonderful. They always know our names and they are so busy and efficient. Even though it seems like the are ignoring you, they aren't, it is just very busy and we are used to seeing the same staff for so many years, it just puts us at ease.

I was very impressed with the whole process. I have two pitbulls, one of which has had chronic rash under the arm pits, stomach and face. There is a tendency for this breed to have skin problems. The went with an inexpensive antibiotic cephalexin first, but they ordered a skin culture. Dr. Hernandez spent the full 30 minute appointment giving me a very complete explanation, treatment plan options. Even though my dog Justice was on Frontline, he still had a few fleas, which could contribute to the skin problem. It can also be allergies, and also immune, etc.etc. Like the doctor said, start with the simple stuff first, if it doesn't clear up, then we dig deeper. A woman after my own heart to be pragamatic.

The facility was seriously awesome. They just completed a remodel and it has to be the nicest vet clinic I have ever been in. Everyone was great, I can't say enough how nice the experience was. Thanks everyone at Santa Monica Pet Medical.

WOW. I came here from my old vet who had a dirty, dingy facility that smelled of cat pee. I brought with my records and a couple of invoice copies from procedures that I had performed at my old vet, whited out the prices, and asked them what they would've done. To my surprise the hospital manager gave a quick analysis and volunteered that they charge a little differently, but that their charges would've been less mainly because for the procedure that was done, they would not have recommended a two week course of antibiotics, and certainly not pain medications. Their surgical charges were a bit higher, but the net would have been about $125 less. I got a tour of the facility and it is clean, modern, airy and bright. I talked to staff and one doctor and am happy to say my pets have found a new home.

I am a new client referred to Dr. Yuan from a cat owning friend. My cat has a chronic problem with her gi tract that has been missed by vets in other hospitals at other nearby big-buck corporate hospitals. I can't tell you how much I spent on tests at other hospitals except for I'm not driving a new car as a result...

After a few simple questions and a bit of research on my part my cat was eating toxic plants from my garden. Elemination of certain plants and my cat is fine. Who would've thought - Dr. Yuan I guess. It only cost me an exam fee.

These guys are great and I highly, highly recommend to anyone!

I love these people!!! We have been coming here for more than 15 years and we always feel welcome, like we're part of a family. They are very good at helping us make sensible pet care decisions. I love the fact that it is always the same people, year in and year out that treat my pets. I strongly recommend them.

I don't think the person who says they refer to themselves as the "Nordstrom" of pet care was talking about PMC. I've been going here, driving from the San Fernando Valley actually, for 20 years and have never heard them or anyone else call them that. I adore Drs. George and Hernandez. They have helped my animals so many times over the years I can't count. They actually *talk* to you about your pet, and they genuinely care. They are busy and the front staff can seem a bit rushed at times, but once you get to know them you see they are all nice people. The parking sucks but they are more than worth it. You just double park & tell them which car is yours in case it needs to be moved. I truly don't know what I'd do without them.

I have been taking my cats to Pet Medical Center for the last three years. The veterinarians and technicians are great with the animals and are good about taking time to answer any questions that I have.
