My Bulldog had a ear infection, which was obvious. I call Banfield and they told me that my dog would only cost $35 to be seen plus additional for medications. Upon arrival they told me my dog would have to be checked in and woould cost $150 just to have checked in not including medications. When I told them I was leaving to go to a diff vet who could treat my dog on the spot like they had promised they said I would still have to pay the $35 for walking in the door. They did nothing for my pet didn't even tell what kind of ear infection it was but still wanted $35 for doing absolutely nothing. After screaming at the front desk they took my dog back and treated her right away. Total cost for an ear infection (one ear) at Banfield is $220. I advise not to bring your pets here!

We have had the Banfield health plan for all of our animals for several years and have liked it. We used to go to the Banfield in the town we used to live in and had a great experience, perhaps that's why this is such a disappointment. \n\nBesides the long wait times and unfriendly staff, the latest error committed by the folks at this Banfield could cost the life of our precious kitty. \n\nHe had blood work done 3 weeks ago that showed high kidney enzymes and even though they said they'd call if the results were not normal they didn't and therefore our cat is very sick. This is AFTER our other cat had a Urinary Tract Infection and we suspected that this cat did as well. I told them that and they said they couldn't test his urine until they put him asleep on his next appt 6 weeks after the initial appt. where they did the blood work. \n\nNow the cat has to be on fluids via IV for 3 days in a row and antibiotics in hopes that his kidneys will start to work properly again. \n\nNeedless to say, we'll never go back to this vet!!\n\n

This was the absolute worst experience my family and I have ever had at a vet appt. My daughter and I brought my daughters cats toThe Banfield Pet Hospital on Ponce De Leon at their Atlanta GA location. We had a 9 am appointment, but weren't seen at 12:15.\r\nTo start off the appt we were greeted by the reception folks who tried to sell me and my daughter their extremely expensive Pet insurance that they carry. We declined, but they weren't taking NO for an answer we were bullied by the staff and vet at least four more times during our hellish experience there. They tried pushing vaccinations and test that I KNOW were not necessary. And on top of that, the vet that we FINALLY got to see three hours late, was extremely rude.\r\nHow a place like this stays in business I'll never know. So believe all these negative reviews! STAY AWAY.

Pros: Location

Cons: they don't care about pets - just money

.

Believe everything you read about how bad this place is. If you care about your pet, never take them to this place!\r\n\r\nThe pet insurance is a fraud. The clinic will try to bill you for services that are included in the plan. If you try to cancel, they will charge you either a $200 fee or try to make you pay for services at 3 times the going rates. \r\n\r\nThe doctors will perform exams by ESP and NEVER see your animal, perscribe medications without examinations and will try to bill you for vacines that are included. \r\n\r\nAgain, stay away! You will be sorry if you don't. I was!

They act like you are saving so much money on their wellness plan. This plan and company is a complete disaster. They are unprofessional, rude, ignorant, and thieves. They charge extra for everything that is ""covered on your wellness plan"" and there is ALWAYS some kind of fee. Every time you come in, you are talked down to by rude ignorant people who do not know proper English (MIDTOWN ATLANTA). \n\nThe wellness plan covers ONLY 2 free visits for a year. 2!!!! and I am paying 20$ a month!!! The first time we took our dog was when his eyes swelled up and Banfield said he had to stay over the night. WHICH COSTS EVEN MORE! In the end they gave him a regular type of asprin... they charged us 20$$$ to get ONE asprin to give to him at home. \n\nThey continued the wellness plan without notifying me at all, and I was unable to cancel it.\nI read many comments about people having trouble canceling and Banfield continuing to charge the card. \n\nPLUS- my husband and I are on the plan. They said that only his name is on it. WHEN THE CREDIT CARD IS IN MY NAME. and they did not want to speak to me at all.\n\nCOMPLETE BS. I am so upset right now bc I am having to deal with this... as we speak.\n\nI would NEVER recommend Banfield in any state anywhere. Save yourself the trouble and look for your pets health care elsewhere.

Bought the pet insurance, shots included. Brought my dog in and they tryied to charge me for the shots that are included. Additionally, Dr. Freshwater, wrote orders on my dog without even seeing the animal. \r\n\r\nOnce confronted, they are backing down and offering to pay for the shots. TRUST ME! Don't go to this vet if you love your dog!\r\n\r\n

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the previous two reviews. I have tried to go to Banfield for about 5 years now because the location is convenient for me.\tI have been severely dissapointed many, many times, and I have finally had it.\tI would rather drive half an hour to another vet than deal with their horrific customer service and lack of customer care again. I brought my dog in recently for shots and possible spaying.\tThe front desk women were incredibly rude and actually condescending. I never saw an actual veterinarian and didn't get to ask a vet the questions I had about my dog. You will only see a ""pet nurse"" if you go here. Also, after waiting about an hour and a half for my dog to get some simple shots, I was told I had to wait another half an hour to be checked out because the doctor hadn't written up some notes yet. The whole horrible ordeal lasted about 2 hours and I NEVER SAW THE VET. This is only one of many, many horrible customer service experiences I have had there. I have finally decided to go elsewhere despite the inconvenience.\tThey definitely do not put pets or customers first. If you want someone to be really rude and condescending to you, with below par vet care, then this is the place for you -- otherwise, save your time and money and go elsewhere.

I called to make an appointment for my cat to get tested for a UTI. When I asked how much the office visit and test were gonna be I got a RUDE lecture about how I shouldn't be concerned with money because if I dont bring my cat in to get tested it may lead to worse problems. REALLY!!! She treated me like if the test were too expensive, then I was just going to let my poor kitty suffer. \r\n\r\nFirst of all I am worried about my cat and to get treated in such a way where I am made to feel like I am the worst possible pet owner in the world for asking how much a test was going to cost really upset me and then after that, I get transfered to the receptionist who sounded as though I was bothering her by trying to make an appointment. Needless to say I will not be taking my cat there to get testing at Banfield on Ponce. awful awful place to take your pets!

This place is the pits. The vet-tech's are nice enough, but I've been going there on an overpriced ""wellness plan"" for months and have yet to meet the actual veterinarian. The staff is slow, appointments are useless, and they try to nickle and dime me every time I come in. They have an excuse for everything and are just plain unreasonable. Animals cost money, but come on ~ they don't cost THAT much. It shouldn't be a terrible expense going to the vet, but they've figured out how to ruin the experience. It's worth it to go to a smaller, personal vet if you're going to pay as much as this place to get absolutely nothing in return.

I am at something of a loss. Don't we all want to get along and have a good experience and healthy animals? Apparently the Banfield is more of a money grubbing conglomerate than a good local vet.

We have taken our cats to Banfield twice. Both were among the worst veterinary and clinic experiences I have ever had. The facility smells bad. Staff are not educated or informed about the issues and services, yet the vet is never around to answer questions or have discussion about decisions. The staff is very autocratic, insisting on unnecessary tests and vaccinations, which they spring on you mid day, after you (and your) pet have gone through the trauma of merely getting there (and staying there). Recently they informed us that our pet may have contracted FIV from being at their facility.

Let me begin by saying Dr. Freshwater is Great. Let me continue to say that the rest of the staff is NOT! Appointments mean nothing. You NEVER see the vet only techs (impersonal and rude at that). The front staff is rude and uncaring. Every time you try to get in they want you to drop your pet off instead of seeing the Doctor with your pet so that you have some level of confidence that something was done. The last three visits a Doctor never so much as appeared to me, much less spoke to me. The final straw was when I ordered heartguard for my dog from 1-800 pet meds, Banfield refused to release the information unless I paid a Prescription Holding Fee...SERIOUSLY! When I asked why I was not given an answer, when I called to have all of my records transferred to another vet they were indifferent. I do not recommend them to anyone, the wait times are unreal, with the exception of Freshwater the staff is rude and uncaring and mostly because the DO NOT PUT PETS FIRST!

The PROS of this DMV are that the doctors are fantastic! They listen very well and are always very thorough! They are always nice and have a great bedside manner! I've never had a problem with the vet techs either! \r\n\r\nThe CONS are that the people who run the front desk always provide poor service!\r\nIt could be attributed to the high volume of people who go to this vet. However, that is no excuse for the mistakes they've made with my pets' records, the utter rudeness that I've experienced on the phone, and the stupid mistakes they've made while putting together my pets' prescriptions!!!!\r\n\r\nWhen you visit this office, make sure you carefully look over your records and know exactly what you are paying for. I am no fool, and I pay attention, but this office seems to have random fees and regulations (i.e. prescription holding fees, drop-off fees) that they ""forget""to tell you about and show nowhere in writing!!!!\r\n\r\nIf you want great doctor's, but want to feel like you are just another number in your vet's records, then this vet is for you!!!

This place is horrible. Wait times in excess of 2 hours even with appointment, but more bothersome is the lack of knowledge by the staff. Rarely ever get to see the actual vet, though I had questions;told they are too busy. Kitten had a reaction to a vaccination, but not explained properly. Asked to see the vet to ask further questions and she was rude and rushed. When picking up my kitten from being neutered, an assistant said bring him back in 10 days to remove his sutures. I questioned that the cat had sutures since my own research revealed male cats do not require sutures. Also mentioned there was an antibiotic for a virus. I asked for explanation about the virus and he said he didn't know. I demanded answers. I waited around and finally asked an office assistant when someone might help me. She was alarmed I had not seen the vet and said someone would be with me. Vet never talked with me, but another assistant said the kitten would come back in 10 days for the virus. I asked about the sutures and he said the cat does not have sutures. He then proceded to try and open the cage to the cat carrier with a dog right beside us. I asked can we please go into an exam room as the cat is agitated from the procedure. We go inside and he looked to see if the cat had sutures, which he did not. A vet finally shows up and I told her that I was dissatisfied with the service that I have received over the past 5 months. She didn't care. She was rude, calloused and would not listen to my concerns, shouting at me. She said she didn't care what had happened in the past and what could they do for me now. I told her that I was done here and would never come back. I have always had to beg for information. Twice, the heartworm medicine was expired. Never have information on meds and how to administer; was told there was no literature and they couldn't help me. The front staff is incompetent and rude. But what I can't ignore is the rudeness and behavior of the actual veterinarian.

Excellent doctor. Very loving to my pets. I have visited several veterinarians in the atlanta midtown area, this is the only doctor that talks to me on a level that I can understand. Very intelligent and very concerned about animal well-being. Very caring attitude overall and sees to it that on each visit I am informed of all of the options that I have available. I have recommended her to several friends, all of which have been pleased. Dr. Freshwater has always been available for questions and concerns as well. Highly recommended by someone that had a hard time finding a good doctor.

Staff and receptionists were rude and assuming. Since staff changes it is hard to establish a good relationship with one or two people. Not a great value either. I'll go to another vet in the future where I am listened to and treated like an individual, not a nuisance.\n
