The owner/server whatever needs to stay off the pipe. WAY too hyped, sarcastic, and freakin' out. I mean, if you too busy hire a kid to help. Too stressful and for no real reasons. Why bother. There are plenty of other laces to eat that might actually appreciate your business.
Pros: Decent Food
Cons: Prices, Service
I have been to Ro Ro BBQ many times, formerly the Rowdy Cowgirl, I have to say this BBQ is out of this world. The Brisket is the best I have ever had, the quality of meat is lean and the rub used was delicious. The ribs are super tender and fall off the bone tasty. I manage a company and went in to speak the owner who set up for a catering job for our Christmas party. Every one loved the food and we are very health aware as well. I personally seen the meat used and it was free range chicken and grass fed beef of the highest quality. My co workers were thrilled with the lunch all the way down to the amazing succotach. They make their own sauce in house and have a few differnt varieties. I would be here every day for the fries and specials to the ribs and pulled pork . The new owner is friendly and it is nice to see an owner who works side by side with his employees. 5 Stars for Ro Ro's Keep up the good work.
Pros: The food
Cons: I live to far to have it more often
Ro Ro BBQ, formerly known as Rowdy Cowgirl BBQ has built up a lot of its customer base under false pretenses. They claim to use grass-fed, hormone-free beef and pork; when using some of the cheapest meat around. They switched to cheap beef and pork under the new ownership, but didn't want to lose the following of committed health conscience consumers that came there for the hormone free meat. If looking for animal friendly products, go elsewhere. This stuff comes from a slaughterhouse.
Bottom line: Ro Ro = No No
Great use of the Valpak coupon. My roommate and I rode our bikes over for bbq and beer this evening. Food was great. I had a pulled pork sandwich, with vegetarian beans and coleslaw. The pulled pork and beans were sweet and the pepper-covered slaw had a slight tang. Fall hours open until 10 are not in effect yet, so make sure you get there before 8.
Pros: parking, picnic tables
Cons: beer seemed to cost slightly more than expected
My husband, son and I ate there last Friday for the first time. Our neighbor recommended it. It was EXCELLENT. The best BBQ I've had in Seattle. I'm from Texas. so I've had a ton of BBQ. Rowdy Cowgirl isn't Texas-style, but it's great. Between me, my husband and our son we had the trifecta: pulled pork, beef brisket and spare ribs. I tasted and loved them all. The ribs are the spiciest and are terrific. Tender but lean. The pulled pork is the best, sweet and tender. The beef was also tender (notice the pattern), and yet still flavorful. We also love Pecos Pit, but RC is our new favorite.
Pros: Tasty meat, homemade sides
Cons: Small, doesn't take long to fill up
We waited and waited even though we were the only ones there.
Watched the cook pull the ribs out of the MICROWAVE!. They were dry and chewy like you would expect nuked ribs.
The bill was steep, pretty pricey for what you get.
Pros: good location?
Cons: poor quality, expensive
My wife and I were hungry on a cold, rainy Friday night and quick tour through City Search turned up Rowdy Cowgirls. We both had the pulled pork sandwich which was excellent (moist, a little bit of kick, plenty of meat), cole slaw and beans. Fresh food served quickly by staff who obviously enjoyed what they were doing. Our only surprise was that more people weren't there.
We'll be back again and again to the Cowgirls.
Pros: Great food, reasonable prices, funny staff
A tasty sandwich and two homemade side dishes for $7.95? Hell yeah. Add a $2.25 Pabst tallboy and a view of the hot waitress and I'm in pig heaven. Three blocks from my house and a screamin deal. The pulled pork is piled high on the white bun and has a ton a flavor. I'm used to the man over in Bellevue, where you have to dodge the motor oil from the place next door, so Rowdy Cowgirl seems a little tooclean. But who cares, it tastes right and you can't beat the price.
Pros: Cheap, hot waitress
Cons: fill up fast
So here's the thing, while it's doing absolutely NOTHING for my figure, I go to the Rowdy Cowgirl probably two or three times a week. By Sunday evening I am absolutely CRAVING the potato salad (studded with onions and capers and creamy goodness)! I normally have the brisket sandwich and I have them put coleslaw on top of it (yummy) with a side of potato salad and a side of succotash (roasted corn and edamame oh lordy it's good) topped off with an orange soda (what can I say, I'm a kid at heart). The staff is awesome and I think the restaraunt itself is adorable. It is warm and inviting and clean. I totally reccommend this place! Rowdy for prez!
Pros: Potato salad, counter bar, liquor license, cute staff :-)
I went to a private party at Rowdy Cowgirl last month and it was wonderful! The atmosphere was amazing, very warm and intimate. The food was sooo good! I couldn?t stop eating! I have never had brisket like that before! I?m going to make up a reason to have a party there just so I can pig out for hours!
Pros: Ambience, food, service
Being from Georgia I'm always looking for decent smoked meats. I would smoke them myself like at home if I didn't live in an apartment. But Rowdy Cowgirl is a good substitute. The pulled pork is terrific - smoky and a little spicy (they have super-hot sauces too), and tender. It's seriously smoked goodness. The buns are as close to wonder bread (my preferred shovel for the meat) as you'll get around here. Haven't tried the other meats but I will once I get my fill of the pig.
Pros: pulled pork pork pork
Cons: no weekends
My girlfriend and I went into Rowdy Cowgirl for dinner because she heard from some dude at work that it was a good place for ribs. I am not a Texas rib kind of guy, I like the pork ribs - I like the Bacon- I am a pork guy. My girlfriend had the chicken ( thats not barbeque) And some green stuff, me I stuck to the baisics, I had the beans and the potato salad. I wasnt expecting much becasue the place is baisically pretty, like a girls version of barbeque. But the food was awesome -i mean really good. The ribs were meaty and not greasy and the smoke ( i may come from Denver but I went to school at Texas U so I know all about the smoke on the meat) the ribs were real good. The potato salad was not like any potato salad I have had before and it was kind of creamy and I liked that the potatoes were not too hard. The beans were good, could have had more meat in them. I have gone back there twice to pick up lunch and I am going to take a couple friends there who think BBQ has to be dirty to be good, yeah no - it doesnt
Pros: girls hot enough to make my girlfriend look - ribs were good
Cons: No beer ? at night i need a beer
My buddy and I went here yesterday and loved the place. I'm the blogger so I am the one who chose to write about it. My food was hot and fresh and tangy in that Carolina/Louisiana way. I am not so much into heavy sauce Texas style though I respect the guns of Texas. Sure the staff was good looking but that doesn't justify lunch. We overordered cause I planned to eat it for dinner too. I ate the ribs right away. They were thick and a bit caramelized on top and were good. I would have liked a side of sauce though. The chicken was smoked and herbed and good but that was mu buddy's so I don't have as much to report on that. The shedded pork was awesome the maybe 4 bites I got. That was what I took home for dinner and my gfriend ate it all along with the cornbread and collard greens I brought home.
I have to say this is easily the best BBQ I've had within walking distance in Fremont. Other places may have more rep but it is from amateurs. You can see on the wall that the owner is the real deal. There were some diss reviews here too. They have only reviewed one place in all of Seattle. So obviously their competitors. Lame. Give Rowdy a try. The food does not disappoint.
Pros: Very good meat, Sides that are worth it
Cons: Not much seating, Need sides of sauce.
I ordered the bbq chicken and received one piece (the thigh) so I only had about three good bites to try. It was not worth 8 dollars. I have never seen such a small portion of chicken. My boyfriend ordered the ribs which were chewy. The food was obviously not prepared to order. It tasted like it had been warmed up a few times. The sides were okay but came in small portions and tasted like they were prepared from a box or a can. We definitely will not be getting take-out there ever again.
Pros: cute theme
Cons: small portions
My co-workers and I just got back, and we were kind of disappointed. The pulled pork was tough as nails, beans were way too sweet, brisket was dry and uninteresting, and the cornbread tasted as if it came out a Jiffy box. In all fairness, the BBQ sundae was OK, but not enough to justify going back a second time.
Cons: Tastes cheap
The pork was tender and the sauce was tangy on the pulled pork sandwich. The brisket in the baked beans make them special. Their potato salad was unique. It had eggs and was very moist. They even have homemade lemonade and iced tea. The staff was very inviting and warm. Service was quick. What more can you ask for....good service, great food. Great deal for the price. $8 gets you a sandwich, 2 sides and a drink.
Pros: good food, good service, good price
My wife and I went to Rowdy Cowgirl for a quick lunch. She's not a red meat eater and wasn't very hungry so we split the smoked chicken. Some say smoked chicken's not real BBQ, but I've been "schooled" as the kids say today. It was DELICIOUS - smoky and tender and definitely BBQ. The sides were equally good - the succotash and cole slaw. But I couldn't resist the "real" BBQ sides on the menu and went back to try the beans and the potato salad. GREAT again. As my wife watched in mild surprise, I finished the sides and ended up getting the ribs and brisket to go. It was packed up perfectly to travel (according to my wife), and the greens and cornbread were, yep GREAT. We'll definitely be back. Esp. when there is beer and wine which they said was coming soon.
Pros: Great BBQ no matter the meat
Dang - what happened to the girls working the counter? I came in last week for dinner and there were a couple of big dudes there working. Ok so they were cool - but whatever. I miss the cute girls!
I found Rowdy Cowgirl during a lunch hour and was pretty happy when they said they would be open for dinner. It is great BBQ - the ribs are awesome and I really like the potato salad. But I wish they would change it up a bit for a dinner menue, maybe add some stuff you can't get at lunch? Like a beer? Some appetisers ? a special or two?
Even so - they serve really good BBQ, everything I have eaten there was super good and I am reccomending it to my friends , especially the ribs - good stuff man.
Pros: Cute girls at lunch - excellent ribs and the potato salad is good too
Cons: need to change the menue up at dinner and dude, where's the beer?
I love food, and I'm always looking for some place new and different to eat. This place is great! The food is amazing, the staff is very friendly and the place is very warm and inviting.
I've found my new BBQ spot! Thanks!
A beef brisket sandwich - when it's good it's a sign of a truly decent BBQ joint. And this brisket is amazing. Tender and tasty without gristle or too much fat. The counter people said that it's "no hormone, vegetarian beef." Whatever; it's smoked right and that's what matters to me. The sauce is great, not too sweet not too vinegary. Although it's too pretty for me, I love this place.
Pros: Dead-on smoked brisket
Cons: Where's the beer?
My husband and I can't stop raving about the RC. It brings such tasteful happiness to both my vegginess and his carnivorous ways.
I was prepared for only being able to have side dishes, but to my ultimate delight, I was presented with a pulled portobello option. It is by far the best mushroom sandwich Ive ever had.
If youre on the go, the service is fast, the food stays hot from Freemont to South Seattle, and you are blessed with a side of BBQ sauce. If you some how manage not to use up the extra sauce, it tastes swell over steamed sweet potatoes (hint hint).
Oh and youve just got to try the best lemonade in town!
Pros: Friendly Smiles, Fast & Considerate Service, Delightfully Unique
Cons: Not Available 24/7
My son is a vegetarian, even worse he is a vegan. This makes dining with him an occasionally excruciating experience as we negotiate between his need for guilt free dining and my need for savory, succulent meats. So, when friend recomended Rowdy Cowgirl as a restaurant tailor made to satisfy both of us; I dragged him right over. First impressions are important and Rowdy is not at all like her name, she is a warm and friendly little spot with cool art and warm woods and sunny walls. We were greeted by a very friendly "cowgirl" at the counter who patiently talked my son through the vegetarian options. He chose the Vegan BBQ Sunday - Vegan baked beans, smoked Portabello mushrooms, and crispy coleslaw all stacked in a cup - just like a sunday! Plus he ordered a side of Seattle succotash, which I had to poach a bite of- there was edemame and corn and cilantro and I need to see who I can bribe to get the recipe. My son finished it all in record time and declared it "hella good" his highest compliment... On my side, representing the carnivores, I was encouraged to try the brisket, I don't normally like brisket at all, but it was sooooo good, really great flavor, tender - no fat no gristle and chewable, yummmm! I also had the potato salad and the baked beans. The beans were okay, but the potato salad was absolutley out of this world, capers and creamy yummy I don't know what the dressing was - but it was good. The moral of the story, anyplace where my son and I can both dine and end up full and happy and feeling like we ate real food is cool - will we go back, oh heck yeah!
You really can't go wrong here. This is how BBQ should be in Seattle:
organic beef option;
flavorful, fresh sides;
If it's your first time and you find the options intimidating, you could try a brisket sandwich with
succotash and greens. People familiar with BBQ will probably know what they want. A meal is
Pros: As listed
Cons: Risk of BBQ addiction
I found out about this BBQ joint from my ex-girlfriend. I knew right away if I was hearing about a BBQ from my girlfriend who is a total foodie that it had to be special. I dropped by with a co-worker and was stoked to find some of the best cuts of meat I have had at a BBQ anywhere. Everything was smoked to perfection. We split the ribs and the pulled pork and both were so good we couldn't choose our favorite.
Usually when I get BBQ, the sides are throwaways. Not here though. The slaw was tangy and bit back, my greens were not over-cooked and my buddy kept making stupid smacking sounds when he ate his potato salad.
The place is awefully pretty inside to be a BBQ shack but I ain't complaining. The girls who run the place are beautiful and friendly. No wonder there were so many regulars.
Pros: Quality of Food, Vegetarian Options, Cute Staff
Cons: Complex menu, Closes too early.
