I purchased two Yorkshire Terriers from Marie in 2004 and 2005. I was told that they were born in Ireland and that her family members breed them there. I was also told that the dogs parents were in Ireland and they were winners in dog

In 2001 we bought our first lil girl Maggie from Marie. We had seen the likes of Michael Wolf's puppy mill in PA and were greatly impressed with Marie. This precious Maggie of mine has her issues which are all specific to the breed. Unfortunately. The next year we drove back to Marie from MD to pick up Benny. He's our live wire. Maggie & Benny had one liter of 4 beautiful pups before my husband passed. Benny has no health issues. When one purchases a Cavalier you must be prepared for the health issues specific to the breed. Research for possible health issues with ANY baby you want to purchase, then check out your breeder. Marie was excellent with us. Remember it's your responsibility to check out everything before making your purchase of a new family member.

I got my beloved wheaten terrier from Marie Larkin in 2001 and lost him almost six months ago. He brought me much joy and was the love of my life. However, I would discourage anyone from purchasing a dog from her. Christo was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 7, which may or may not be a result of puppy mill breeding. What is a result of bad breeding is the degenerative myelopathy he was diagnosed with. He carried both mutations of the gene as a result of breeding two parents who were carriers. Over the course of a year I watched him progressively lose the use of his back legs, ultimately dying of a blood clot related to the paralysis. This was truly heartbreaking, no wheaten deserves such a fate, and nobody should have to watch someone succumb to this disease.

We got a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel back in 2007 from Marie. We have had nothing but a healthy, loving member of our family. Before we bought Dacey, we ask several questions to Marie and she was more than willing to answer. She even called me when the plane left NY coming here so I would know he was on his way. I have nothing but good things to say about her. Dacey is almost 8 now and I am thinking about getting another one and I will use her again.

I bought a westie from her in 2000, she lived almost 10 years. She started out very aggressive, but never had any major health issues. She was such a beautiful dog. I was very happy with her but again she had temperament problems early on.

We bought our west highland white terrier from Marie Larkin 2 years ago. As other reviewers have said she said the puppies "came from family" in Ireland, she would not take a check to her or her business, , she did not register " her dogs" because of the poor reputation of the AKC registration practices., etc. We however fell in love with the puppy picture she sent (our puppy???) and without properly researching puppies imported from Ireland , we bought the pup. As our vet says, we were just plain lucky. ! We have no complaint about our dog except she has no papers or pedigree, but we Cannot condone the practice of brokering "family raised " Irish puppies.

My husband and I have wanted a Wheaten for years. We had looked and looked, and they were not easy to find. I finally learned about Celtic Irish Puppies. I quickly learned that I could trust Marie Larkin's company from her prompt service. Every question that I had, she responded to right away. Marie made the whole process so easy so I could just await my puppy. We love our Percy! Thank you!

Celtic Irish Puppies has the best and cleanest facilities I have ever seen. They take such great care of all of their dogs/puppies and you can really tell the level of care by the setup they have. I would recommend Celtic Irish Puppies to anyone considering a yorkie or wheaten. Marie Larkin is dedicated to the breeds and educating owners/potential owners about the breeds. She is always willing to take the time to make sure everything necessary is known before purchasing a puppy/dog. Furthermore, she always is willing to help yorkies/wheatens in need and their owners whether they were one of his puppies or not. Any good breeder will care about the dog for the life of the pet, and I have seen Marie show this level of care. Highly recommend!

Our Wheaton Lola is almost one year old and is the love of our life. We're so thankful for Marie Larkin of Celtic Irsih Puppies! She was so kind and a great person!
I have had Wheaton's for years, Lola is our third and is the best dog I've ever owned. She's not just perfect in looks and coat, her personality is outstanding - literally. She is happy, joyful, friendly and outgoing. I take her everywhere with me and people are astounded by her nature. Happy, happy, joy, joy.

8 years ago we picked up our wonderful little Maggie, who is an Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. Marie came highly recommended by our vet who has two of her Westies.
Maggie has been such a wonderful addition to our family. She loves everyone and everything and has been healthy from day one. Our vet told us he had several of Marie??s puppies in his practiced so he was not been surprised that she is such a healthy specimen of her breed.
The highlight of our visit to Ireland in 07 was visiting the family where she was raised and meeting her parents.
When we decided she needed a little brother, we contacted Marie again and now have Riley who is almost 8 months and he is just as wonderful.
I highly recommend Marie. Over the years we have met several people in town who have purchased Cavaliers and Wheatens from her with the same positive results.

I bought a west highland terrier from marie 2 years ago. My last name is omalley so she used her celtic background and brogue to beguile me. she also spun a tale of my puppies origin and birthplace to be at a farm in ireland with her son. A crib in her living room is where i first fell in love with what would become my childrens heartache and my devote loyalty to a very sick puppy. she is a scam artist and a very crafty liar in disguise as an old irish grandmother. after more than 2000 dollars in bills for kennel cough parasites and a breeding disorder called lions jaw, we are just as much in love with our baby as day one.. shame on you marie,a marauder, a sheep in lambs clothes for an extra penny. how do you sleep at night? It is my belief that one day, what you call your living, will come back to haunt you....in hopefully the cruelest way possible.P.S. Dr weinstein for you to back up this heartless villain makes you equally as guilty to get your business from perpetuating ill puppies to exist. you are both despicable.

Pros: a loyal loving sweetheart of a dog

Cons: years of heartache to get to this point

I live in NYC and was looking for a wheaten puppy last year. I ran into several wheaten owners randomly on the street and at dog parks who had purchased Wheatens from Marie Larkin. She is not a breeder, she breeds dogs simply to profit, and unfortunately, most of the time sells innocent families a puppy who ends up having health problems. I've heard every story that these Wheatens have stomach cancer, allergies, several gastrointestinal problems, and need to be on permanent medications for digestion. These dogs are NOT from Ireland and clearly do not even have an Irish coat, compared to my wheaten who I got from a reputable breeder from the SCWTCA website, the OFFICIAL wheaten website. Yes, they are more money, but yes, they were raised humanely, are healthy, and are the breed standard. A reputable breeder would never "mail" a puppy either. Please do RESEARCH. Would you adopt a child from a random website on the internet without doing research first?

When I arrived at Marie's I felt at ease as it was obvious to me she cared a lot about the puppies and their health. She introduced me to Blondie, who was the most adorable little dog. I asked about her personality and Marie said she seemed to be very playful but would calm down and fall asleep in your arms instantly once you picked her up. Well, that's pretty much Blondie!! She is a year and a half old now. We never had any health issues. Blondie is a perfect companion being by my side 24 hours a day. She even sleeps with me. She loves being babied and held and cuddled and has so much faith in her surroundings. It is obvious Blondie has never experienced anything negative and just thinks the whole world is there for her to love. She also adores kids. I don't know why I waited so long to get my puppy! In a few years I will go back to Celtic Irish Puppies for another one. Also, a friend of mine is a dog trainer and has trained hundreds of dogs. She says, based on Blondie's superb temperament and health, she is worth every single penny I paid for her.

I find these reviews rather suspicious. "Virtually impossible" to import puppies from Europe, particularly ireland? Obviously written by someone with a sinister agenda. It is far from impossible to import puppies from Ireland. The statement doesn't even make sense.

Our puppies, 2 of them from Marie, are the model of good health and disposition. Our 2 are not the only pups from Marie that we know. All seem to have the same beautiful qualities.

I have heard that breeding is a cut throat business with rival breeders tarnishing one another's names. I have now seen for myself.

My husband and I bought our Yorkshire Terrier from Marie Larkin three and a half years ago. When Colby was a year old he was diagnosed with a kidney disorder in which his kidneys never formed correctly from birth. Because of this, he is not allowed to eat anything with protein and is on a special prescription diet. Last night, we found out that he has a genetic disorder that happens to dogs that are not bred well called luxating patella. This is a progressive problem that can lead to arthritis and surgery. It is treated with anti-inflamatoryies but because of his kidney disorder, Colby cannot take the medication.
I am writing this to warn you about buying a puppy from Marie Larkin. She is a scammer and claims that she gets her dogs from Ireland. After doing some research, I understand that this is virtually impossible and that she has been taken to court several times for selling unhealthy dogs. I would not trade my dog for the world as I love him dearly but please do not make the same mistake we did by purchasing a puppy from Marie Larkin. She buys her dogs from puppy mills and should be ashamed of what she does. She is a terrible person whose business deserves to be shut down as she is promoting cruelty to dogs. Please, please be advised and warned.

We searched online for a Westie breeder in the area and came across Marie Larkin of Celtic Irish Puppies. I emailed her with some questions and set up a time to visit with the pups. We purchased the puppy on the second visit. We decided to get the male puppy and we named him Wexford.

That very night Wexford had this dry, hacking cough. I immediately called the breeder with questions and she said to give him some Children's Robitussin. She also as part of the health guarantee arranged to have discounted veterinary care provided by her vet, Dr. Weinstein. He claimed that Wexford was in perfect health and it was just a cold, "as kindergarten children often get" and prescribed an antibiotic. But after about 7 days on the antibiotic, Wexford was not improving, his condition was actually worsening. We went back to the vet a second time and he prescribed another round of antibiotics. By this time things seemed really shady.

We decided to get a second opinion. It turns out Wexford had Kennel Cough and an Upper Respiratory Infection. He was put on antibiotics and a decongestant. He was also receiving nebulization treatments with Albuterol up to 4 times in one week. At 10 weeks old, he spent long days at the vet's office. After diligent care and several more rounds of antibiotics, including one of the strongest, Baytril, Wexford finally showed signs of improvement.

Under the New York State Pet Lemon Law, you have 14 business days from the date of purchase to have the animal deemed unfit for sale and either return the animal or get reimbursed for veterinary expenses.

Wexford was deemed unfit for sale and Marie was ordered by the Small Claims Court of Hempstead, NY to provide reimbursement for veterinary expenses totaling $773.25.

I would not recommend purchasing a puppy from Marie. Research your local breed club for a reputable breeder through an organization like the Westie Club of America

We - my husband, 2 daughters and a son - have purchased 2 yorkies (Kate and Corky) and a westie (Paddy) from Marie over the years. We were initially drawn to her due to the connection with Ireland, we being of Irish descent ourselves. But we returned to her as our canine family grew because we were so VERY SATISFIED with the health and disposition of our previous puppies. Sure, our pups had coughs etc over the years (as have our children), but frankly these episodes only proved Marie?s worth. She was always there to counsel and advise by phone or email, even long after the sale.

In addition, we have recommended Marie to countless friends, relatives, business associates and even strangers over the years. At least 6 ended up purchasing pups from her and all have thanked us for the recommendation. 2 of them were repeat buyers like ourselves.

I would be happy to discuss my experience further with anyone considering a new puppy.

We bought a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel from Marie in 2005. You visit her home and see this nice, grandmotherly Irish woman with a nice home and a puppy sitting in a baby's crib. We went home and did hours of internet research and couldn't find a negative comment about her (Marie Larkin) or her business (Puppies by Marie or Celtic Irish Puppies).

After we got home, our puppy got sick - she had digestional problems for probably 2 months. We called Marie but she was no help, and finally took our puppy to a second vet (NOT the vet Marie recommended) and numerous treatments later, they finally figured out the problem - something called giardia - a common ailment for puppies kept squalid conditions.

After a couple of weeks, we stopped telling other Cavalier owners that we would meet on the street where we got her because every time we did, they would tell us Marie was a problem broker (she is not a breeder) and that she sources her pups from puppy mills, not from her sister in Ireland as she claims. The key point here is - current owners of the breed you want are an incredibly important resource that you should talk to before making a decision of what breeder to use.

PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THIS BROKER! Avoid our mistake. You can contact your local club for whatever breed you want and they will be able to recommend quality and reputable breeders who will work with you to help you get the perfect puppy.
