All the vets and techs at Maplewood have never been anything but compassionate, professional, helpful and reassuring whenever my husband and I bring either of our cats in. We've been to a lot of vets all over the country, and for us Maplewood is wonderful -- down to earth, affordable, and they obviously love animals. Our pets are getting very old, so I'm reassured knowing we've found a team that works hard to give the best care.

My dog died by suffocating in his own fluids on 4/30/2010. I took him to Christine Monroe on 4/29/2010 because he was having difficulty breathing. She did an x-ray and told me that she would give us a diuretic to give to him and he would be better than good. I was so excited that I gave her a hug. Over the next 10 hours I had to watch my dog drown. Why didn't I take him back to her? I trusted her when she said the pills would work and I thought maybe the pills would take a few hours to work. By the time I knew it was too late, it was 2am. I had to watch him drown for 2 more hours. When he finally drowned, he let out a yelp and collapsed. I picked him up and cried. Over the next 15 minutes he grasped for breath and I watched his fluids bubble out his nose. I rushed him to the emergency vet-no I wasn't stupid enough to think they could save him-I wanted them to euthanize him so he didn't suffer. My dog had a stage 4-5 heart murmur (the worst is 6). I have spoken with several medical experts who told me the doctor should have never let me take him home and she definitely shouldn't have told me everything would be okay. I am riddled with guilt because I didn't put him down peacefully. I would have put him down with her that day and asked her if I should (if his quality of life wasn't going to be good). She told me his quality of life would improve and we didn't need to think about putting him down. Due to her negligence, my dog suffered for hours...and I can never take that back.

I have had the misfortune to need lots of vet services for my two dogs over the years, and as a result have had to go see several different vets and vet offices. Dr. Rabkin and the Maplewood Animal Hospital staff are the very best I have ever had the pleasure to receive services from. Dr. Rabkin is the best vet I have ever known - anyone lucky enough to get their animal treated by him would likely agree. He is compassionate, professional and reasonable. The staff is caring and courteous as well as helpful. I would recommend this vet hospital to anyone looking for compassionate and professional care for their pet at a reasonable price.

Dr. David Rabkin is a fantastic veterinarian. He truly cares about the animals and humans in his care. I would recommend his animal hospital to anyone who cares about their pets as I do. Prices are very reasonable.

Friendly and accomodating staff offers knowledgeable and compassionate care. My dogs LOVE Dr. Rabkin!! This is actually a place they LIKE to go! :0)
