In the review below Richmond Larney goes by the nickname "Chief". His aunt asked my company to help sell her items because she moved to Austin, Texas to live with her son. Chief was fixing up the house to sell it.
I signed a contract with his aunt and my company started setting up the sale moving the stuff out of the garage, cleaning out the rafters and the closets. We set up the tables and got the sale ready. Chief asked us to wait a week later so his aunt could come back to Long Beach to go through the stuff and see if she wanted to pick a few things out to keep. Our agreement with his aunt stated she would need to provide us with a list of items she was taking and sign the list. We came back and 70% of the sellable items were gone but the list we received from her had only four items on it. Then after we kept working on the stuff Chief and a young woman he was with picked through some more and removed more stuff out of the sale. The contract we signed with his aunt has a clause that stated that any items taken out of the sale after the signing of the contract that were not signed for would be treated as merchandise sold and we would earn commission for.
Soon about 80% of the profits were taken out and the sale was nearly worthless. After the estate sale started Chief was selling items around the side of the house and keeping the money as we were working. After the sale I spoke to his aunt's son and he spoke to his mother and I told them that Chief took all the profits out of the sale. Chief even took the cousin's guns and sold them which became a further problem because the guns were not registered and was illegal for him to handle since he is an ex-convict. After Chief and his cousin talked about this issue Chief told me he always intended to take the items and blame my company for all the theft and loss. Chief told me he stole the items because he was afraid that after his aunt's death the family would take everything and he would not get his cut. After we spoke with the aunt's son and Chief spoke to him, the son didn't believe it was my company's fault. Then Chief left a voicemail for me threatening to kill me, then a threatening text and now he's leaving us negative reviews also. Chief was never a client or a customer.
Since our dealing with Chief we've had to make a report with the Long Beach Police Department, the ATF, and the FBI due to the threats he's made to me and my company.

My family had the most terrible experience with the oldekirk estate sales, for one they are very messy and have no respect for the property. Second not producing the customer service they were suppose to provide. Third taking advadage of the eldery and not marking down product that was sold. Fourth not paying the client there money, plain and clear these people are just legal thieves taken advantage of people. I suggest not to use these people, they will take full advantage of you behind your back.

The Odekirk's Estate Sale business is the best company in Southern California for selling household items. They are courteous, kind, professional, and efficient. They are very well known and have been in business for many years. Paul's parents started the business over 40 years ago and Paul has taken over the business 15 years ago. They are a wonderful family. I've been a customer of theirs for years. Kathy Anderson

The Odekirk family conducted a sale for my husband and I about a week ago and we were very happy with the results. The sale was professionally and successfully done, brought in a sufficient amount of income and the place was left clean in the end. We would recommend Odekirk's to anyone in need of their services. I'm very impressed with everything the Odekirk's do for our community. The work with the Save Our Chinatown group and the skill in acquiring the items for the Riverside Historical Society. The donations from his family to the Sherman Indian Institute and the Museum of Photography, and Paul's donations to the Museum of Tolerance. This family are true members and fighters for our community! I've only known these people for a short time but I'm glad to be a customer and a client!

I'm very pleased with the professional work Odekirk's did on my sale and the nice way the crew worked with my mother on the sale of our items. Every one of the crew were very kind and considerate and the sale went very well and we were quite happy with the results. Thanks so much for all the help.

I was very upset to get the notice about this company's worker's death. Especially in the middle of our estate sale. I know it must have taken a lot of strength for these people to follow through with the job since I have gone through a similar situation recently. These people worked quite hard and came through it all with flying colors. I want to thank them for the great effort and outstanding accomplishment they've achieved in the end. Odekirk's is 100%!

Odekirk's has the best sales. They just finished the greatest sale the Inland Empire ever saw at the six million dollar mansion. The place was packed with awesome furniture and artwork. I went there just to see the house and take photos of the view of the city from the living room windows but left with some cool stuff. I returned on the last day of the sale and nearly everything was cleaned out. These people really know how to run a business. The crew is as calm and polite even under the stress of thousands of people coming and going all day. I really don't know how they do it.

We had to place a loved one in a care facility and needed help in clearing out a household of items. There were many years of furniture, glassware, and clothing. It was very difficult for a family to deal with due to all the memories and internal struggles. We called three companies to help us liquidate the contents of the home. Odekirk's turned out to be the best pick of the lot. Paul was fast, understanding, and thorough. In the end the house was empty and we were satisfied.

We recently had Odekirks to handle an estate sale. Paul and his colleagues were unfailngly helpful and flexible. I felt totally comfortable with them handling our possessions At the end everything was removed from the house and left clean and tidy. It was a huge bonus not to even have to clear out the garage! I would recommend their company to friends without hesitation. Thank you Paul.

Paul and his team are some of the most professional people I have ever worked with in my 50+ years in business. In our situation, I was working with Paul from over 2000 miles away and one of the most important qualities I needed was trust. Paul not only was trustworthy in our business transaction, but he became more trustworthy than some family members that were local to our sale. Even with some issues that came up, Paul was flexible and easy to work with, always looked out for our best interest and was more concerned with making sure things were done right then he was about making money. I highly recommend Paul and his team and told Paul that I would be a phone reference for anyone that wanted to speak with a customer of his. Thank You Paul and Team!

My wife and I were a little unsure about leaving people to tend to our family's belongings but things worked out very well. The staff of Odekirk's are honest, kind and trustworthy. I'm not the type of person to write glowing reviews but these people were worth it so I thought I'd post a good comment across the board.

I've been a customer of Odekirk's Estate Sales for about 8 years and I've loved every sale they've had. I only go to their sales. They are by far the most organized and best priced of any of them. The crew is the nicest and most professional. The other sales have crews that are way too much like a bunch of ex-gang members for my taste....former drug addicts, tattoos, old bikers, shifty types...Not the type of people I'd trust my valuables with. Just one customer's personal opinion out of thousands.

Paul Odekirk and his crew worked wonders for my family. We put all our trust in him and his crew and asked our Realtor to give him the keys to the house and he handled everything. We didn't even have to fly into the city. I can't even express how much of a blessing Odekirk's was to my family. Paul surprised us with more money than we expected and a clean house in the end. I recommend Odekirk's and his crew for any job big or small.

My girlfriend and I started going to Odekirk's sales when they donated the organ to our church and fought to preserve the church's historical status. We've always found great deals with them. We just moved away to Chicago and asked them to do our sale and ended up very happy with the job they did. They're good friends.

I've been shopping with Odekirk's for more than 30 years. I've been very happy with their estate sales. These people are friendly and I've always found good deals. I've never been unhappy with them. I've know many people who have used their services over the years and have been very satisfied.

Paul has an amazing amount of experience. I was going through a difficult period, and needed someone to get the job done right. Odekirk's was recommened by a friend, and I'm so glad I called. There is only one company I would trust to handle an estate sale, and that would be Odekirk's.

When my husband passed away Paul and Odekirk's Estate Sales did wonders to help me through a difficult time. God bless them for all their help and understanding. I was able to move and be with my grandchildren and enjoy my time without any more worries.

I love their sales!! Its my favorite past time, I look forward to each new sale and what ever treasure I uncover. Thats the fun of it, never knowing what you'll discover. I like they provide the community with a great service, and I know they treat the families they deal with fairly. Their team is both professional and warm. The labor they put into each sale is amazing. I don't know how they do it at times. All I can say is - try it - you'll like it!

I've been going to estate sales done by Odekirk's for years. Paul is friendly and very knowledgeable about the antiques and the history that goes with them. The folks on his staff are helpful and make it fun to go to his sales!
Some sales are huge; some are smaller. But I've always been amazed by the magic they perform in a short amount of time, and they always get a good crowd. They're got it down to a science! Highly recommended.
