This place is a disaster. We went here hoping to get one photo for my one year old's first birthday. We went on her actual birthday, and we made it very clear that we only wanted one pose to remember the occasion. We had dinner plans, and we were on a strict schedule. But... our photographer stated that she had to do several poses irregardless of what we wanted. After doing several backgrounds and poses in two different rooms, she invited us to view our photos.
The total started at $1250. After I told her that was ridiculous, she said we needed to eliminate photos to make our total go down. So, we patiently eliminated photos. Soon our total was down to $600. I again told her this was unacceptable and mentioned that I had recently called and was told that I could purchase a cd of all my photos if I purchased $100 worth of product. The photographer then told me that I would receive my cd with $100 worth of product, but I wouldn't get all the picture I wanted. She also ONLY THEN told me that even if I got the cd, I would not receive the copyright permission along with it. Thus, I could only print 4 by 6 prints or less from my home photo printer (which I do not own) or I could post my pictures to facebook or myspace. Any other photos of larger sizes or reprints from reputable stores like Walgreens, Walmart, or Targert would not be allowed due to copyright infringement. This was not mentioned until after we took our photos even though I had mentioned that I was interested in the disc of photos when we arrived at the store. After I mentioned that I was interested in spending only $100 on the prints, the photographer became irritated and kept reiterating to me that I would receive a better deal the more prints I bought. Previously I had my daughter's 3, 6, and 9 month pictures taken through Olan Mills, and for around $150, I received numerous prints and also the CD WITH FULL COPYRIGHT PRIVILEDGES!!!!! I only tried out Portrait Innovations because I wanted some pictures on my daughters actual first birthday, and I felt like this was the place from the advertised specials. Little did I know that these specials are misleading and falsely advertised. After wasting over two hours of our time, I left without purchasing any pictures because I was pressured to purchase over $200 worth of pictures when all I wanted was the ADVERTISED $9.95 special or the CD with what I assumed would include copyright privileges. Unfortunately, I wasted precious hours of my daughter's first birthday getting her picture taken with unsatisfactory results. I have learned my lesson. For her second birthday, I will go somewhere like Sears, Target, or Meijer where I know I will get the pictures I want in addition to the rights to reproduce them on my own terms through a CD with full copyrights. DO NOT GIVE PORTRAIT INNOVATIONS YOUR BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!
