Dr. Sawyer should've lost his license along time ago. I can't believe he's still practicing. He's lucky I was to young & couldn't afford an attorney at the time he mis-diagnosed my toy poodle. Went to him b/c she had stopped eating, drinking alot & her stomach felt hot. Dr. Sawyer being her vet for 10 years should've known she was never spayed instead he extracted all her teeth saying it was a gum infection. My dog collapsed 2 days after her surgery with Dr. Sawyer & was rushed to Angell. She had Pyometra, uterus infection..it burst! She passed away, Dr.'s at Angell said he should've known better. All people with good reviews, I liked him too until he eventually killed my dog. Called to speak with him & all he said was thats to bad. Adding insultto injury, I still kept receiving postcards for overdue visits!! He doesnt care about you or your pet, he just wants your money! Go to Revere Animal Clinic instead !!!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr Sawyers and his entire staff at EBAH. We've been to them for regular check ups as well as emergencies. They've always been kind, informative and generally concerned for our cats. The most recent visit brought us in with our cat Rico who had developed some coughing and wheezing. I called in the morning to make a visit and they offered a time in the afternoon (and earlier if it seemed like an emergency). My husband took Rico in that afternoon. Dr Sawyers took one look in Rico's mouth and snapped into action so quickly my husband was amazed. It turns out my darling cat (who likes to eat anything and everything) had tried to eat a threaded needle which had lodged in his throat. Dr Sawyers removed the needle that minute under anesthesia (I am so grateful that EBAH has an OR right at their facility). My husband called and told me what had happened after it was obvious that Rico was safe. It didn't even occur to me to ask what the visit had cost. I was just so happy to know Rico was safe. When I got home that night I asked the cost of the visit (fearing it would be crazy knowing anesthesia was used). It was so reasonable I had to ask my husband to repeat himself. I'm really surprised to hear people say EBAH is after people's money. I suspect they may have an unrealistic idea of what a visit should cost. Either way, I'm so very happy with the level of care and the cost. We're so lucky to have found them.

I have been going to the East Boston Animal Hospital for years. The staff is always pleasant. Other animal hospitals that I have been to seem to be annoyed with my presence... not like that here. Dr. Sawyers is very direct, and I appreciate that quality. When my cat was sick I felt very secure with the care that was being given. I will continue to use their services and will continue to recommend this hospital to my friends and family.

I love Dr. Sawyers! I have been going to the East Boston Animal Hospital for years. The staff is friendly and I truly feel that my cats get great care. When one of my cats was sick "Doc" was very clear and direct with me in every aspect. I appreciated this because I wanted to know exactly what was going on. I will continue to recommend Doc to my friends and family.

I have been using the East Boston Animal Hospital for several years and I have received nothing but kind attentive service. The staff answers my questions and helps me when I need it.\r
I was nervous when I moved to the area because I know my cat can be.... difficult. Dr. Sawyers knew what to do and everything was fine. I do and have recommended Dr. Sawyers to my friends and family.

Dr Bollen from East Boston Animal Hospital seems to be really cold and uncaring. She tells me she has to look in my dogs mouth but he scream, she did it again he scream again, so she said I need to put him to sleep so that she can open his mouth, and also told because he is so old he may not make it, we had to find out what was wrong he couldn??t eat or drink anything. We had to put over 100.00 dollars down. She said she would call us and let us know what was going on, well she did call she said he had a broken jaw on one side and etc. she suggested we put him down unless we want to watch him starve to death. So we are upset and they wanted the rest of the money up front before they put him down. People are supposed to be able to trust doctors, human and animal. How do they know about the jaw I wasn??t charge for x-rays on my written bill because no x-rays were taken Ridiculous.
I've heard a lot worse about this place then I've actually experienced, but I definitely wouldn't go back to see what else could happen. I'm actually surprised that place is still in business with the prices he charges,

Dr. Sawyer has been wonderful to my 2 beagle mixes and I find his prices very reasonable, especially after our recent experience in an emergency at Angell. I have never had any issues with his staff either - infact, it's been quite the opposite. The staff I've encountered have been great with the patients and quick to respond to requests. The Doc is often running behind but that's just indicative of his concern for and attention to the more needy patients. Besides, the wait just makes me more excited for my next stop - Milano's for a meatball sub! Thumbs up to the EBAH and Dr. Sawyer.

I am upset to see bad reviews about this Vet! I have been taking my cats here for over 20 years because I trust him. I enjoy his staff, they are hard working and compassionate and very professional. When ever one of my cats hads a problem, I feel part of the healing team because Doc lets me know exactly what is going on whether it's good news or bad news so I don't have to wonder what the next step will be. He has called me at home to check on the progress of my cats, touching base before their follow up appt. I trust him and respect him and his staff, that is why I have gone to him all these years! People who are well informed about their animals go to this clinic and I highly recommend it!

Besides the lack of parking and the rude staff, Dr. Sawyer has an awful bedside manner and wants your money!! I don't mind spending money on my babies but he wants to perform unnecessary surgeries and give them vaccinations that they don't need.
And isn't it a little creepy that he offers cloning?! Evil scientist!! I will never, ever, ever bring my animals there again!

i took my cat to this hospital in an emergency situation because it was the closest vet that had an emergency appointment available. the staff was incredibly rude on the phone--i got lost on my way and was having a panic attack because my cat was near death, and the receptionist/vet tech actually said: well, we close at five. ""we close at five""?! my child was about to die, and she didnt even offer to give me directions!\r
so, the no parking thing freaked me out as well. i had to carry my sick baby across a bridge in my arms with a train roaring underneath. only one vet tech was actually human and acknowledged my presence.\r
the only redeeming part of this is the vet: DOC SAWYERS IS AWESOME. i dont know if he is the doc mentioned in the other review who offered cloning (he is a bit eccentric), but he was kind, gentle, comforting, and stayed late on a friday night/holiday weekend (and went in on new year's) to do emergency surgery on my cat, check in on him, perform follow-up care, and keep me informed by phone the entire weekend of my cat's status.\r
he is the only reason i would return here. if i am able to find out whether he works at another clinic, i would go there instead of east boston, but for now i'll stick with him because he is my baby's savior.\r
suggestion: ignore the other staff, ask for doc sawyers, and give him the benefit of the doubt.

I'm not even going to mention the fact that this man offers pet CLONING. Oops, too late. But even besides that atrocity against nature, this is still just a terrible, terrible place. The staff is really cold and uncaring. I just get the feeling that they try to extort all the money they can out of every single person who walks through their doors.\r
People are supposed to be able to trust doctors, human and animal. How do they know if their cat needs a feline leukemia shot or not? Mine doesn't. He's tested negative, doesn't go outside and has no exposure whatsoever to any other cat. Don't put unnecessary poisons into my cat while CHARGING me for it. Ridiculous.\r
I've heard a lot worse about this place then I've actually experienced, but I definitely wouldn't go back to see what else could happen. I'm actually surprised that place is still in business with the prices he charges, the attitudes of everyone who works there and the general vibe of the place. It feels like a monster hospital. Creepy.

My Siamese *adores* Doc, and with good reason. He saved her life. Adopted from Siamese Rescue with serious health issues, Doc more than competently identified the problem (a perforated diaphragm/diaphragmatic hernia) and performed the repair (a very delicate surgery with a known high mortality rate) at about half the cost that Angell Memorial quoted. And she had a stellar recovery. He also receives many kudos for being on top of the pets' general care, particularly the needs of geriatric animals. He detected my other Siamese's kidney problems where my other vet did not and promptly put him on the appropriate maintenance care that extended his life by three years. He stays abreast of new treatments, and truly cares for his patients.
