Even with a challenging high end trade (Range rover sport), Garnett did the unthinkable and closed the deal!! He demonstrated perseverance and grace through it all, even after I changed my mind about which model car I wanted to purchase.

Shari was nice, friendly and helpful. The place is nice and the cars are nice. I wasn't so happy with leased cars being advertised online for one monthly price and then winding up costing much more. I'm sure all dealerships do this, but

I had a great sales experience with Shari at Martin Honda. She made the process easy and spent a lot of time going over all the features of the car. I'll definitely recommend all my friends to Martin and to Shari on their next purchase.

Ryan was my salesperson, he was great! Very thorough. I will buy from him again. He was very knowledgeable and not pushy, which was a huge green light for me!

The sales department is incompetent, they botched my financing paperwork twice, requiring me to reapply for the loan (thanks for the second credit check!) Since then their service department has been working hard to top their sales department's incompetence. They don't keep all the parts stocked and often take several days to order them. I have a repair on my car needed and, three weeks after having it looked at, they just called to let me know they have the part. I had to call to check up on things to figure out what was going on and no one returned calls.

Imagine buying a brand-new car, having it go dead FIVE times without warning in as many months, leaving your family stranded... and every time you take it in, they pass the buck? Nothing is fixed. It's always "someone else's department". And the general manager doesn't care. This is the Newark Martin dealership!!!

Bought a 2008 Fit from them brand-new. Got talked into a remote starter upgrade. It was installed improperly and the car had to go back to them FIVE times in as many months: it drained the battery. They refused to ever give me a loaner. They started trying to make excuses not to fix it. Service dept tried to say it wasn't covered under Honda's warranty, but Sales dept who sold it to us wouldn't do anything. My original salesman blew us off saying "he'd have them call us" (them being the same woman who refused to do anything).

When the automated Honda corporate survey called me for my impression of my salesman, I could not give him 100% ratings because of these stupid problems. You know what: he called me at home and got nasty with me. "How could I do this to him". And from that point on, he flat out refused to speak to us.

The upgraded part turned out to NOT be from Honda, approved by Honda, or installed by anyone with any Honda experience -- despite salesman's promises. And when he couldn't get it to work, he said it was THE CAR not his work that was faulty. So car goes back to service dept who won't do anything because they say the car tests out fine. At this point battery is totally ruined & won't hold a charged. Needed 5-6 jumpstarts by strangers because our brand new Honda kept leaving us stranded.

Talked to the service dept manager; he couldn't do anything. Finally got a hold of the manager for the dealership, Hammi (spelling?). He seemed concerned at first and would "look into it", but never called back. I called back several times and never heard back from him. At the very last visit, the woman who handled it just had the part yanked out without consulting us. She refused to speak to us to at least pretend to care. She left a credit slip on our credit card without so much as a note explaining or apologizing. Not a very professional woman -- beware of Betty Mahan.

I took my poor car to an after market garage up the road. The fixed the damage the Martin Honda subcontractor did, and they put in their own remote starter. Guess what? Never once had a single problem since, no dead batteries, no refusal to start, nothing. It ended up being half the price Martin tried to charge me. And now I have a reliable car.

Now Martin added my email address to their spam list, as if I'd ever go back there!? I contacted the sender and used the "remove" button. They keep sending me their ads. I tried again -- nothing. Today I got yet another piece of junk email in my box, despite 4 times writing them to tell them I'm not interested. I cannot get them to stop spamming me?!

Be careful of their sales dept! Promises were made and were never kept.

Be careful of their Martin upgrade dept! It's NOT Honda parts, and if there is a problem clearly it won't be covered by Honda service.

And be careful of the dealership as a whole. Because if you ever do have a problem, concern, or issue, they ignore you completely. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE.

I was so upset at one point I wanted to take this lemon of a Honda to the nearest Toyota dealership and get rid of it!!! Now I can never buy a Honda locally again because I know I'll never get an honest deal. I ended up begging my husband to take it, and I took his used 50,000 mile car as my own, because just being in the car reminded me of how I was treated like dirt.

Basically, Martins is to be avoided. Their staff is rude, and is unfamiliar with common Honda problems. They will insist on diagnosing everything at $100 a problem, even if the problem is a common source. I was quoted $650 for a problem without anyone looking at my car. Despite the service rep's insistence, all three problems were related and not "coincidence" as I was told. Said problem was correctly diagnosed for 10.50 at Pep Boys, and turned out to be relatively minor.
