Samson Management is a terrible, mismanaged, inept company that does not care one iota about it renters. When we first arrived in our Samson Management building in Manhattan, we were initially pleased as the unit had been recently updated; nothing special, but freshly painted and new (regular) appliances. Overall the building is quiet, very family friendly. Fast forward three years, in the past three months (Nov-Jan) have suffered over 3 weeks worth of days with no heat and no hot water (some days no water at all), a leak in one of the elevators, and at least 5 major pipe bursts that damaged the ceilings, walls, and floors as well as residents personal property. Repairs are still pending 2 months later, including in our bathroom. In the past 6 months, there has been a bedbug infestation across 4 floors and affecting countless units and costing resident significant financial and personal hardship. The building is poorly maintained, management is non-existent, and Samson refuses to make the necessary expenditures to find more permanent solutions to building-wide problems.

I will, however, note that I really like and appreciate the wonderful people who live in this building. Our collective struggles to deal with Samsom Management have brought us together.

I live in Inwood in an Art Deco pre-war building that is managed by Samson Management. I love the Art Deco design of it and am very happy they kept the integrity of the building. The building is maintained very well. The laundry area is always kept very clean, which is generally a pretty good sign of how things are run in general. I give Samson Management two thumbs up!

My roommate and I live in one of their buildings in Manhattan. The building is kept up quite well and our super has helped us a handful of occasions. I feel bad for a couple of the reviewers on this website because I just haven't had their experiences at all.

I live in one their Brooklyn buildings and can't wait to get out. The apartment itself is beautiful but if you need help from management, expect none. My previous next door neighbor began harrassing me in January. He wanted my help in getting his upstairs neighbor evicted. When I refused his turned his instability on me. After documenting numerous events, going to the police 3 times, who told me my neighbor was guilty of "aggravated harrassment", the building manager continued to do nothing. 4 weeks later, that neighbor absconded on his lease. The new neighbor makes loud noise at 1:30AM during the week then complained that I knocked on her wall at that time? The management company called "stupid whose parents got an apartment for her" but did nothing other than tell me to call the police on her and let them know. This after I went through a month in hell just a few short weeks ago. The super does zero and is biased against women, trying to bully me. My neighborhood cop friends are keeping an eye on him now and I just can't wait to move into the place I bought. ZERO HELP from this company when previous neighbor was tweeting about rape and "smacking a b*tch up". Samson = totally rude and checkout out of caring about their tenants.

I just recently moved into a new apartment on the UES. It has been a great experience, for moving that is. I had moved from a nightmare situation with a different management company. They were awful to deal with and I couldn't wait to get out. Luckily a friend told me about an opening in his building. Within a few days I had a new apartment. The application process was quick and easy. I think it was a really good move for me.

I have been in the same apartment for over 12 years now. Overall I have been very happy with Samson Management. I have had few issues and really none that weren't taken care of in a reasonable amount of time. I have a number of friends who live elsewhere and are not able to same thing. Eventually they will listen to me and move to my building. This has been a great place to call home. I would recommend a Samson building to anyone.

I have noticed some of the other reviews under Samson Management and just cannot understand what they are talking about. I haven??t had any problems with them. All dealings I have had with them ie. my move in, my problem with smoke coming from my neighbor??s apartment, requesting documentation for work, have all proven to be pleasant ones.

When I had first called about my neighbor regarding the smoke smell they offered a number of suggestions to help eliminate the smell. They also suggested where I might pick up an air purifier. I took their suggestions and followed them. Everyone is much happier now.

When I called to request a letter of residency the woman I spoke with, and I feel terrible for forgetting her name, was lovely and very efficient. I had what I needed in no time.

I am just sorry everyone hasn??t had the same experiences I have.

I live on Liberty Street. We have been here for about 6 months and have not had any problems with Samson Management thus far. Honestly it has been one of the most drama free experiences I have had in Manhattan. The apartment is large and I really enjoy the renovated kitchen. No complaints here. So far, so good!

She tried to arrange visual exit inspection of the apartment jointly with the super, but he advises that inspections are conducted after the keys are dropped off. I just want to memorialize this on the net because I expect to be going to small claims with her after their inspection.

If it wasn't for the fact that we live on the boardwalk in Long Beach & pay a very reasonable rent, we would get out from under Samson Mgmt. immediately. They hire loser supers or keep the losers on from previous management. Their bldg managers are obviously taught to ignore you, twist info, dance around issues, and turn noise complaints around so they become your fault. They do not respond to complaints until you are forced to contact Dept of Housing. It took till the ceiling over my bathtub to come down in a huge piece (staring up at my neighbors bathtub) after constatly asking for repairs from a water leak that never gets fixed. Samson sands & varnishes wood floors & then doesn't enforce the carpet rulings above the first floor. This ended up a nightmare as tenants above us made extreme noise & when we complained, we were told to carpet our apt to eliminate the noise. We are on the first floor above the lobby, with parquet over cement floors. If it weren't for location & price, samson would have another lousy apt to find some hapless tenant to rent to. BEWARE & KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!!!

The walls were moldy and the apartment was generally in need of several repairs. Walls had to be washed with bleach twice a year. Samson refused to even look at it. I emailed pictures of the mold and called many times. The only time I could get a call back was when I moved out 2 months early.
This is not a good company to do business with. They have no ethics at all.

I have lived in a samson-managed apartment compex in tarrytown called sleepy hollow gardens for over 25 years. Why am i still here you ask: rent control. Anyways first as the other reviewers have mentioned if you want any help don't bother calling them because they are rude and obnoxious. Also, just like the other reviewer said, if something is broken, dont think it will be fixed. I also had a leak and hole in my ceiling - 3 TIMES!! It came down to us gettin the building inspector for it to get fixed, and the process has taken YEARS. Another thing is the parking. There are not enough spots, so if you park after 7 PM, you will have to find a spot in a parking lot down the road ( and also risk getting towed). I thought this issue was about to be resolved , as we have gotten several letters saying they were about to build 60 new spots. I get a letter from Samson saying that they are "considering adding sixty additional outdoor parking spaces to Sleepy Hollow Gardens. The new spaces would be made available on a RENTAL BASIS and reserved for your exclusive use." How much you ask? well $65 a month plus tax. The letter is asking us to check yes or no whether we would consider renting a spot!! And dont think that people who rent those spots wont take a free spot that is closer to their apt if its free. So this solves nothing except gives more money to this terrible, greedy corporation. I can honestly go on for pages and pages on the problems with these people and this company, so if you are truly interested and want to know more you can email me.

Samson is a large management company, and acts like it. Their customer service is non-existent. Our experience (my wife and me) is if we ever had to call the offices, they were rude, loud and not helpful.
They do not maintain their buildings, at least the one we live in and the 3 others we know of, which friends live there and tell us. As with many bad management companies; they care about one thing: cash.

We are moving from our apartment, which we like a lot (due to location and size) because we refuse to pay them any longer for the non-existent service. Avoid this management company, if at all possible!

They do not maintain their buildings, at least the one we live in and the 3 others we know of, which friends live there and tell us. As with many bad management companies; they care about one thing: cash.

We are moving from our apartment, which we like a lot (due to location and size) because we refuse to pay them any longer for the non-existent service. Avoid this management company, if at all possible!

Pros: Good building locations

Cons: poor service and management
