Wow, I'm shocked to see bad reviews! We ate at the poolside cafe recently and it was by far the best meal I've EVER eaten. I won't claim to know if Ramsay has anything to do with this restaurant or the food served, but his name is indeed

It was my birthday and that was the biggest restaurant disappointment in my life. \r
First I must say the London hotel, the restaurant location, is very beautiful. The restaurant decor is cold and elegant, like the rest of the hotel.

They "claim" they are so booked, but you end up going to a 1/2 empty restaurant.\r
The service is horrible.\r
The portions are an embarrassment. (beyond small).\r
The food is horrible.\r
I would never go back, and would not recommend

I had a very good lunch here that was not as expensive as I feared. Very good salads and nice carpaccio.

Parking is bad, but what can you do? Must valet. Sophisticated vibe and bright and airy. Never a wait for a table.

There is nothing more regrettable than paying good money for a bad meal especially in these financial times, but there was not a single regrettable moment in my experience Ramsay's restaurant last night, and honestly...I went in expecting one. The wait staff was outstanding from the moment I stepped in, to say nothing of the beautiful ambiance throughout this hotel. My friends and I selected the "wine & dine" option from the dinner menu which allows you select four items from several delectable options and includes a wine selection recommended by the sommelier. The portions initially seemed small but at the conclusion of the wine and dine we were all full and elated. Every single item was perfection, from the aromatic starter salad with divine truffles and parmesan shavings to the perfectly cooked sea bass with just a dollop of caviar. Do not even get me started on the caramelized banana dessert that just melted in my mouth. I came into Ramsay's a cynic, but my experience was proof positive that there are a few occasions in life when you can believe the hype.

Being a fan of Gordon's successful television shows I was truly excited when friends invited me to his restaurant to celebrate my birthday. The hotel makeover is beautiful and the hotel staff were friendly, efficient and engaging. Arriving at the restaurant the hostesses were very sweet. Then we entered the bar and all goes down hill from there. The bar staff was present but aloof, they seemed bothered that they had to actually take drink orders (chardonnay at 19 a glass). We then ordered appetizers; the braised short rib croquette with sauce gribiche and the okonomiyaki dumplings, they seemed intriguing on the menu, then they arrived at the table...we asked the waiter what it was and he said it is what we ordered, we then asked what was in the sauce, he had to ask. Falls short of the standards of the television show. We took pictures of the food to have our friends later guess what it was, even looking at the menu it was hard to tell. The croquettes were overcooked and tasted like hushpuppies, and the dumplings lacking in flavor and high on cost. We ended up cancelling dinner since we could barely stomach what we had just had. Would never return and would never recommend.

I tried the Sunday afternoon tea service, and it was awesome! We went with a group of girls and had tons of little appetizers and desserts to nibble on while drinking tea. With T+T it was only $40 a person. Totally worth it!

My expectations going into this restaurant were high, which was my first mistake. I must say that the Hotel staff is VERY friendly and helpful. The restaurant hostesses the same....our wait staff not so much. They all seemed as if they had better things to do then get us our food. I waited ridiculously long for my drink and finally had to flag someone down to get it for me. Our waitress was knowledgeable but never seemed to be around when we needed her. I think she secretly watched us and only came over when we had food in our mouths so we would not be able to ask for anything. The food was good, but I wasn't blown away. Overpriced? Yes, but were expecting that so no surprise there. Overall it was and average experience, with good food and below average service.

I don?t usually review restaurants ? but I felt that people should know that this place is overrated. For the price you are paying, you should expect to be full and to have been inspired by the food and surroundings. I found the food ?GOOD?, but hardly exceptional ? especially when you consider the portion size is borderline comical.
I was asked if I wanted water, and a yes to ?still? water I got charged $12! More than the glass of wine (that had sediments in it).
After being told that there were no available reservations for 8pm, we arrived at 7pm and saw many vacant seats. To our request to find a seat not shared by strangers, we were told the only other seat was next to other customers ? (even in full view of empty tables in the center). Those multiple seats remained vacant well after 8, 9 and 10pm.
That kind of service makes you feel as if they're waiting for someone "more special" to fill them because our special occasion wasn't good enough.
I found the decor to be comparable to any nice hotel ? but nothing special, nor nothing reminiscent of London, or even England. The food, while good, was again, nothing special ? other than the portion size and price.
In the end we left let down? not just by the astronomical prices for the average food and ambiance, but also paying $10 for valet parking (AFTER validation from the restaurant).
I felt embarrassed for Gordon?s restaurant, as I really wanted to be impressed. He talks a good game, but sadly misses the point.

We are huge Gordon Ramsay fans and looked forward to trying his new place in LA but were sorely disappointed in the service. The atmosphere is pleasant and the menu is interesting, but the service was spotty and sort of strange. Our server was very nice though sort of a bit breezy and casual, and she seemed to forget about us periodically - like after bringing us some water, we sat for about 15 minutes waiting for her to come take our dinner order, and she only arrived after we asked the bus boy to send her over. Throughout the evening, we kept having to ask other servers to send her back to us. This was kind of annoying. I don't like when waiters hover, but I do like when they show their faces once in a while.

When we managed to order and the courses started to arrive, they made a big production of placing all the dishes down at the same time, which is a formal touch, but this formality did not extend to the rest of the service - water glasses being refilled constantly and awkwardly, plates whisked away either too quickly or not quickly enough.

Most of the food was decent, though we expected better. The bread tasted refrigerated. Our server sold us hard on a special dessert, a tarte tatin, only to return 10 minutes later to tell us they'd sold out (by 10pm!).

And then the final cardinal sin - our server brought the check before we'd asked for it, and then failed to come back to collect our credit cards. One of our dining companions wondered why we hadn't just gone to Pinkberry.

Overall, I'd recommend this place if you want to enjoy some pretty good food and you don't require impeccable service.

I was not impressed by this place at all. We started at the bar with a drink. The bartender didn't smile, didn't say hello, she looked miserable. We were seated promptly and ordered after what seemed like forever. The food was ok. Nothing really stood out to me. Everyone that worked there seemed miserable. Maybe Chef Ramsay had just yelled at everyone in the back. Oh I should also mention that the waitress confirmed that there were no clams in the seafood casserole, but there def was as my allergic reaction kicked into high gear. She even checked with the chef! Needless to say I'm not going back, there are so many better unpretentious places in that area where the wait staff doesn't look suicidal and you can actually enjoy your meal.

Just to say, I was very excited to eat at Gordon Ramsay. I had convinced my friend to come with me based on my experience a couple of years earlier in London. I had told her how wonderful it had been and worth every penny. Basically for me, food should be like a taste bud explosion every bite of the way. But the experience was far from what I had in London. The food was so ordinary. The "amuse bouche" was over-powered by a taste of bacon that dominated completely the foie gras or any other flavor for that matter.
In between every course I was hoping for the next one to be better. In vain. Also, there was no palette cleanser of any sort. The progression from course to course wasn't consistent and the whole thing lacked originality and flavor. It was simply average. How disappointing... I know Gordon Ramsey is capable of grandiose food creations. What I had experienced in London was sublime. But maybe he has lowered his standard for the Americans?? Or simply gotten lazy? I don't know if he has eaten there, but seriously there are many restaurants in LA that surpass his, and for a more affordable price. To me it's simply a scam. The service was good. Not extraordinary but good, very respectable. The sommelier was OK, he did pick good wines for the "chef tasting menu". But still the whole place was really amateur and I was not impressed. Please upgrade the menu to something more unique and less "Californian". There are already many restaurants in California that do the same thing and they do it better.
Go back to the source of your success Gordon!! Give me taste bud joy!

I recently went to The London and it was WONDERFUL! The service was great and the food was even better. I highly recommend this restaurant. I had the Chef's tasting menu and it took me on a exciting culinary adventure. Gordon Ramsay deserves his title, I can't wait to go back.

I've been here for lunch and dinner. Both times, I noticed that they were still having to work out issues with the service. The first time, they seemed to be nervous, and the second time, they were just harried. Also, the water/bread/coffee staff did not know how to serve properly. *However*, the food made it all worth it. I was amazed by how flavorful the food was and how wowed I was by the smell alone when they served it. One of the dishes has crab beignets -- which you will be disappointed with in terms of the size, but the flavor packed into this pea-sized beignet is amazing. The 7-course tasting menu is highly recommended to get a range of the dishes. They are small courses, but you will be very full at the end. I'd been to the Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's in London, and that location was head and shoulders better than this location particularly in terms of the service. However, for a restaurant in LA, this location did have much better food and on par service with restaurants locally. If Gordon is hoping to get another Michelin star from this place, he'll have to get his staff working better in terms of service, but I don't think he'll have to worry about the food!

Something is certainly amiss at particular Gordon Ramsay establishment. A friend and I dined here on opening weekend and expected a few glitches; however, with a reputation like Gordon Ramsay, I would expect nothing but the best. Having dined at his pub the Narrows in London, I had high expectations because that place rocked in every which way possible.

Since it was opening weekend, there was not a lot of information released which I found odd, it's Gordon Ramsay and he's opening an establishment in L.A. but I knew we were in for a rough night when the hostess lost my reservation, although another hostess called twice to confirm my reservation, and I returned the call both times. We get seated, the restaurant is practically empty, and we wait... and wait... and wait! We flag down a water for some water and a menu; however, no wine list so I flag another waiter down for a wine list. We wait... and wait and my friend flags another waiter so I can order a glass of wine. The wine comes and the waiter disappears, nobody is coming to take our order but that should have been a clue. Listen, I love tapas and I've traveled to Barcelona and have had lovely tapas. Well, the tapas here mean small plates and it's not for sharing; too darn small. Also, the menu is just not that good. The small scallops (three) were okay, the pig's cheeks were okay but too salty, you don't need to put extra salt on an already salty dish. The food was not only disappointing we were starving and we had already spent $150 dollars. We didn't bother with dessert - we were starving, so we went to McDonalds.

There are just way too many restaurants, good restaurants, in L.A. for this thing to survive. I suggest a major rehaul starting with the inexperienced staff and menu. Otherwise, gorgeous space... possibly the most gorgeous restaurant, asthetic wise, I've ever been seen.

I called the Restaurant.....figuring, after seeing Ramsey on TV.. this would be a night to remember (little did I know!!).Got a clone voice mail.Gave up after 20 minutes on hold without a live person picking up. (Yes, I have a timer that shows on my phone). Called the main line for the Hotel. Guess what? Another voice mail.. no live operator. I only waited 5 minutes for a live person this time. Asked for a Manager....she was gone for the day. Voiced my concerns..really not interested.
Luckily, there are many other Restaurants in town for me to go to. Comme Ca fed the 6 of us that night... WHAT A TREAT!
Good luck Gordon Ramsey... you'll need it!!!

We don't know what the hell that one reviewer was talking about! Valet as a Con? Get a grip!! First of all, you should've been validated at the restaurant so you wouldn't have to pay. Second, we'd pay $20 valet to eat there again. The service was impeccable. They were always there to refill the water. They were very knowledgable about all the items we were interested in. And there was no air of snottiness that normally accompanies such fine dining establishments. The food was light, but flavorful as the seasonal summer fare should be. The standouts were the pork belly, the beef fillet and short rib, the scallops, and the risotto. One criticism we have is the decor. Some walls were wallpapered while others were painted in an unfinished fashion. The floors were grainy in appearance which seems to conflict with the Victorian air that the shuttered windows with lamp shades suggests. As the day turned into evening, these became minor quibbles, but the techno music never changed and was quite irksome - it unsettles the ambiance of the restaurant. The women's restroom was "a small cafe onto itself!" Our muscato wine selection was poured fine and we enjoyed it with our lovely desserts, the sticky chocolate pudding, the panna cotta and the pineapple souffle. A return is without question. Thanks, Gordon!

We first got seated at a terrible table under an air conditioning vent...when we were moved we were ignored for 25 mins. The food was fine but nothing felt special about this experience. They had "managers" in suits walking the floor every 3 minutes, yet, I had to ask for my water to be refilled every time. How is this possible? We were over it and didn't stay for dessert. I was so excited to try this place but it truly underdelivered.

The menu, presentation, food, decor , ambience, the wine list and just about everything at Gordon Ramsay at the London WH was SUPERB. I appreciate fine dining & have to say Gordon Ramsay & Josh Emmet do a great job here!! I would have awarded 5 stars, but the service needs to improve a bit before one can compare it with other 5 star?s. While I found the wait staff friendly, knowledgeable and trying their best, the service was a bit disjointed and awkward. This will be less an issue as the staff becomes more confident. We dined here a week ago with my family and it was an exceptionally enjoyable evening for us all. Our party of 8 was seated very promptly. In terms of food, both the imagination and quality behind the food were outstanding and we tried just about every dish on the menu. Regarding complaints about the portions being too small, I offer this "KNOW BEFORE YOU GO": THE MENU IS DESIGNED AND ENCOURAGES SHARING, ALLOWING DINERS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SAMPLE THE EXTENSIVE VARIETY OF TASTES, FLAVORS AND TEXTURES. 4 - 5 plates for two people should be enough, as the foods can be rich. IF YOU ARE SEEKING OVERSIZED OR HEARTY PORTIONS, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. Favorites included the Risotto, Seared Scallops, the Kobe Steak & Short ribs, and I especially liked the Duck accompanied with seared foie gras. The menu offers Sashimi and universally appealing dishes such as Buratta Mozzarella with Heirloom Tomato. If a large group, pass on the tasting menu and go with the a la carte option for variety. Small groups, I would recommend a chefs tasting at least. The restaurant is not inexpensive, but it is reasonable; plan on spending $80-$100 a person (w/ tip) if you drink moderately (2 drinks). The wine list offers a fantastic selection of reasonably priced wines so pairings are made easy. In conclusion, the meal was as good as expected and I am very happy we went and definitely will be there again.

Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Location, Wine List

Cons: Service Staff still getting up to speed

There is nothing entirely wrong with this WeHo addtion but so far there is not enough right with it to make me return. To begin with, there are far too many twenty-something waiters in matching light grey suits bumping into each other for a guest to be able to relax while dining. The first thing our waiter wanted us to know is that the GR fare is Tapas-styled; code for SMALL PORTIONS but in this case, REALLY small. The chilled almond soup with shrimp and mixed vegetables was intriguing on the menu but bland in the tureen.

During this course, my date and I ordered two glasses of white wine. While it was silly that it took two waiters, carrying already opened bottles, to present and serve our wine-by-the-glass, what REALLY fell short was the pour. My glass looked like it had been filled by a Swiss waiter on a budget! It was 3 1/2 ounces maximum! My date faired slightly better at four ounces. Look Gordon, guests willing to spend $200 or more on dinner aren't cheap so don't embarrass yourself appearing to skimp on wine that at five glasses per bottle is returning a 400% profit!

The evening was so skimpy that it became the topic of conversation with the couples to our left and right. We all agreed that this Emperor needs new clothes. If this restaurant can calm down a little, increase its little portions and add a little more flavor to its dishes, it stands a chance. But for now, it's trading on name and notoriety; neither of which tastes good to anyone but Ramsay.
