We had an incident with this company back in 2006, when illegal towing was the newest scam.

It was at the parking lot behind Albano's pizza on Melrose/Poinsettia (WeHo, I believe). Took them to small claims court, asked by the judge to show your proof/paperwork to each other before the trial and the tow guy FAKED the timestamp on HIS paperwork to make it look like the tow was called in, so we lost.

However more lawsuits came after that (in Sta. Monica) and they had to pay, so I'm satisfied with that, though I wish I can kick them in the balls.

***If this happens to you, immediately SIT IN YOUR VEHICLE, LOCK DOORS and CALL THE POLICE. Competition Tow guys are the scum of the earth.

I'll admit, I had left my car in a lot in Hollywood past closing time, and when I got back, my car was gone. I called the tow service posted on the sign and they said my car was there, but if I didn't come get it in 30 minutes, they'd charge me a full day of storage, even though by LAW, they can't do that unless my car has been there more than 24 hours. So I rushed over to Santa Monica and when I got there, they said they only accepted cash, another law they broke, because by law, all tow services are required to accept credit cards. I didn't have the cash so they pointed me to the conveniently located ATM by the front desk. So I pulled out their insanely overpriced fee and was charged an extra $6.00 by their ATM, and got my car out. Lo and behold, when I got my car, the front bumper was scratched and nearly torn off. They refused to do anything about it of course, saying I had done it, so I took them to court and won. Twice.

My wife and I locked our keys out of our car and we saw a sign in the parking lot of where we were at for Competition Tow and it said they did lockouts. So I called the number and asked for an estimate and they said $65 dollars to come unlock the car. That didn't sound too bad to me so we said ok and asked them to come. They said that they'd be there in 10-15 minutes. A half hour rolls by and I call them again and ask them nicely if they were almost here and they asked me who I was again and I told them and they asked me what the address was AGAIN and I told them and they said, ok we'll be there in 10-15 minutes. Another half hour rolls by again so I call back AGAIN!!! It was getting late and my wife, who is 7 months pregnant, is sitting out in the cold and we're still waiting for these guys to come unlock our car. I call back again and this time I had had it. I yelled at them and asked them if they were coming or not. I told them the situation with my wife and they said yea yea we'll be right there. They didn't apologize or anything. They were complete jerks about the whole situation. So they said yea, we'll be there in 10-15 minutes. I stopped them and yelled, "Are you sure?!!! Because you've said that 3 times now and it's been almost 2 hours!!!!!" I'm a really nice guy and I never lose my cool but these guys brought me to it. Another half hour passed of course so I called 411 and got a bunch of numbers for different locksmiths and such. It took me another half hour to finally get ahold someone else to come out and unlock our car and funny enough, it only took them 5 minutes to get there. Competition Towing have the worst service, manners, and etiquette I've ever seen.

Pros: There are no pros

Cons: rude and don't come when they say they will. I would not recommend them to anyone
