The other reviewer is right, its HORRIBLE! I went yesterday and aside from the bar being really a small service bar only, the service there is AWFUL! They treat you very badly there, like they are doing you a favor by letting you go in!

If you want to go somewhere where you can have a nice drink, thats not served in a test tube, then go somewhere else!

This place is absolutely HORRIBLE! I have been here several times now, but last night was the final straw.

First off, there are so many better lounges to go (I personally think ROOF at theWit hotel is infinitely better), but I ended up here because a friend of mine had chosen it as the venue of her going away party.

So, last night, I arrive at Vertigo with a group of 4 friends at approximately 11:00 pm. We find a line outside the Dana Hotel and decide, since it's a nice enough night, to wait in line. Bad move! We spend about an hour waiting before we finally reach the front of the line, only to have the bouncer inform us (ever so nicely) that our particular event had magically reached capacity and that we would have to "wait awhile" before we could go in. Our other option, which this bouncer had no qualms about freely conveying, was to give him $20/head.

As we stood there mulling this decision, we saw group after group approach this bouncer and be ushered in without question. It was actually quite humiliating to have waited in line so long, to be told that to our face, and then have basically everyone and their sister approach the bouncer, out of line, and be let in without hesitation.

Now I am the last one to play the race card, but I strongly suspect that part of the reason that this particular "party" had somehow reached capacity was because we did not fit the core white demographic that this establishment was trying to attract.

Regardless of whether this was race-related or not, I was disgusted with the treatment I received at Vertigo and would not suggest it to my worst enemy.

Having been to place before, I can say that it really isn't worth going even if you don't have to wait in line. It is really quite dark -- to the point of being severely off-putting -- and not conducive to walking around and mingling freely. The music leaves a lot to be desired, and service is especially slow.

Pros: None

Cons: Long Wait, Terrible Service, Crowded, Dark

The lounge is on top of the dana hotel and spa and is in the center of the city. The entrance is not thru the hotel but to the side. Once I got upstairs the outdoor patio was open and it was nice to be standing outside in the city. A waitress served me right away and even offered food but I just came from dinner so didnt eat. The Kobe sliders looked good and she said they served them all night till 3am. Ill store that in the memory books in my head. I drank my drink and enjoyed the view while breathing fresh air. it was nice.
I mentioned its too bad the patio is only open in the summer and the server smiled and told me they have robes and blankets for the winter and even install an outdoor Ice Bar for a winter wonderland type feel. AS I left the manager said goodnight and welcomed us back which was refreshing since so many places forget that part and you know what?...I will be back. Great job vertigo.
