Ok. I have been a member for 5 YEARS. I know the owners, have for years. Unfortunately for this company they are ALL money hungry. Golds Gym is money money money. And that is what will kill their business. Cancelling is next to impossible. I got a membership somewhere else. Same size. Similar equipment. 24 hours. Nice people. Win win situation. Oh and if you're going to golds gym for personal training, think again. People have stated that they may know what they're talking about... LOL. I went to school for massage therapy, and not a single trainer at my golds in Marion knew a damn thing about the human body, let alone the simple concept of origins and insertions. Sorry, just basic things I feel a personal trainer should be aware of.. These guys never even heard of it. I am friends with about 8 employees/trainers and one thing I can tell you is golds gym has a horrible turnout with employees. No one ever wants to stay, and seek better employment other places so right when you get used to the staff. Boom. Gone. Another con is the fact that (atleast in my area, and YES I do know this will partially happen at any gym) golds gym attracts all the local juicers. At peak hours, sometime you will have a panoramic view of meatheads. I saw them get into a fight over weights a few months back lol. So if those are the type of people you want to be associated with then sign up. Well that's my bit, take it or not. Hopefully I can atleast help somebody out there.

Been there about 10 months and they do have a lot of different options for working out. You won't get bored. I will cancel my contract when it's up and go to the Y or just work out on my own. Employees look at you like your on crack when you ask a question or need something. The equipment has been in a state of disrepair lately as well.

Pros: Lots of different things to choose from

Cons: rude, snooty staff, with high turnover

.

I had been a member at this Gold's for years and recently decided to join the Y with a friend. The atmosphere there is so much more comfortable and friendly. The staff at tthe Gold's for the most part is not very welcoming and make you feel as if you are intruding on their space. There is always broken equipment at Gold's and the place is getting run down very quickly. And it is very hot in there in the summers! Also, they made it very difficult for me to quit. Think of any gimmick and they did it. The manager was busy and could I come back another time, leaving me att he front desk for 20 minutes waiting, telling me someone would call me back nut never did, etc. They are not in it for the return customer which is all you need to know. Once you sign the contract, they could care less about you. All I really have to say, is that the Y is fantastic and there is no comparison between the two.

Pros: Lots of cardio equipment, but.....

Cons: Broken equipment, staff

.

This was a good place but I don't think they had the January rush so now they have broken equipment that is unrepaired for weeks, a dirty locker room, sweat towels are rationed, they clean by spraying Lysol in the air. I have never the staff actually wipe anything off thing there but they sure watch a lot of TV. Front desk does not care (not their job), no management on site. this place is going downhill fast.

Pros: hours, large, never really crowded

Cons: dirty, broken equipment, staff (guess that explains the lack of crowds)

I think it is odd that some of the people on here have been with this gym for "years" as one person explains, but in the same review states how bad it is. I would have left a long time ago if it was so bad. I love it there. The place is great, clean, and the people are always friendly to me. The music is nice, the cardio cinema is even better and I can't get enough of the place.

Nice facility & equipment. Knowledgeable trainers. Horrible general management and membership policies. In it for the money.

You'd think in today's age of customer service, gyms like Gold's Gym in Raleigh, NC would get with the program and drop their antiquated and predatory practices of holding people in memberships they no longer can use!

I recently joined the Raleigh Golds Gym at North Hills and after joining was put in an assignment at work that will require significant travel and limited ability for me to go to the gym on a regular basis. I believe its in these type situations that you really see how strong a companies customer service is! Not only did it take well over a week and two e-mails for me to get a response from the General Manager of the gym, but they were completely unwilling to offer ANY solution!

I offered to pay a cancellation fee, only drop the personal fitness, or even freeze my membership for a few months until my schedule went back to normal. The General Manager was unwilling to consider any of these options and kept coming back to the fact that I'd signed a contract and now will have to pay it.

I encouarge everyone to think carefully before joining gyms like this! They are very focused on customer service when trying to get you in the door, but obviously don't care about it when you try to leave!

Pros: Nice Facility

Cons: Management NOT customer focused

This gym has literally every amenity available! It was super clean, super big and offered many different classes. Truly, the only thing missing from this gym, would have to be an oxygen bar! That is not an exaggeration - that's a fact! LOL! Very nice place, for sure.

What turned me off, big time, was the sales pitch. They are a "hard sell" and they push you, and push you, and push you. They can't simply talk with you, explain the price packages available and then politely leave it up to you. While I understand they are there to make money, there is a line that can be crossed, and unfortunately, they do tend to cross that line, when it comes to trying to sell a membership!

I would highly recommend this gym for anyone who wants a large facility, with many amenities, and classes. This seems to be a super nice place and if you don't mind getting hounded and cross-examined, for over an hour, then by all means, check out the facility!

In other words, if you plan to join, join. If you go there and aren't sure if you want to join, be prepared for the "hard sell."

Terrible customer service and attitude. Made me decide not to join the gym.

Be aware of their cancellation policy. They mishandled my account and treated me very poorly in how they dealt with the situation. Sarcastice and Rude. Very discriminating treatment to me as a woman. Would never join again.

So yeah, the gym is nice and the equipment is new blah blah, but these guys are fraud. I bought a training package, for a set amount of time and they continue to charge me well beyond the time...

They were very hard to deal with when I moved away, and needed to cancel. Their 30-day requirement for cancellation is bs. Eventually I was able to satisfy them with documentation, but I will be monitoring my credit card bills because I would not be surprised if I continue to get drafted by them. I've heard from other former members that these guys are worse than a psycho ex in "holding-on", mainly to your bank account.....so beware.

Pros: Nice facility

Cons: Trainers seem distracted from clients, staff doesn't explain contract terms well

I joined Gold's last year after my membership at another local chain expired. I was totally dissatisfied with the other chain (which has since gone out of business), but LOVE Gold's. The locker rooms are gorgeous, the pool is very well maintained, as is the rest of the gym. The staff is friendly and attentive and the class schedule is diverse. Definitely recommended

They've done a wonderful job when they built this gym. between the class offerings and the great machines there's no excuse for not being in shape

This is the best health club I have ever seen!!! This place is huge and they have tons of CLEAN, NEW equipment. When something breaks, they fix it almost immediately. A little pricey, but definetly worth it. Great classes, awesome trainers and the locker rooms look like a country club! No kids either. Lots of young professionals.
