Don't be fooled by all these people claiming it's a scam. It all boils down to whether or not you have about $450, and are willing to spend that to have a nice time in the Bahamas. Just read the fine print and enjoy your trip!

I want to help clarify, for anyone looking into this company after receiving the infamous phone call, that NOBODY ever says ANYTHING about WINNING anything!

The call is a not a "you won" phone call at all. They DO say "congratulations", but when's the last time you saw that one in the thesaurus under "win"? I know for a fact that they never say the words "win" or any form of it, or "free", and wouldn't say it even if you poked them with a sharp stick... because that would be lying, and bad business. They just won't do it. Call and try to make them say "you won". Just try.

The idea of going to the Bahamas is exciting, so when you get that phone call with some chipper young girl or guy on the other end saying that you have an opportunity to go, your brain jumps the gun and puts the fact that you filled out a card and the word "congratulations" together, and BOOM! - you act shocked when they tell you that there are taxes, port fees and service charges. Had you read the card you filled out, you'd already know about those, and the whole experience would be that much more pleasant, wouldn't it?

So just pretend you did pay attention to that and you'll sound a lot smarter to the cute girl who books your trip.

I used to work for them, and I know exactly how it works, and I know it's easy to feel like you've been scammed when you don't listen to or read the details or just plain don't understand what someone is saying to you. Thousands upon thousands of people willingly fill out these cards, just as you did, so OF COURSE there's a pre-written/recorded message! You can read the message for yourself by clicking the "fact" tab on their website if it went in one ear and out the other when you heard it. But Danny O'Brian certainly can't talk to everyone who fills out a card, so he decided to be fair and talk to NO ONE. I know him personally, and he's not such a bad guy. You may have gathered that he's actually pretty smart, charismatic, and a hard worker. He built this company with his wife from the ground up, and does quite well with it.

Try to find a comparable cruise and hotel stay in the Bahamas for this cheap, and I'll call you a "winner" if you succeed.

You owe it to yourself to go on a little get-away. Just don't be too grumpy about it, people.

Cons: The majority of people in the world just aren't too bright

Buyer Pleas Beware, Security Travel USA is a rip-off. They take your money and when their ship fails to sail because of mechanical breakdown, they don't want to give your money back. Danny Obrien is getting rich off of scamming innocent customers, but Danny it will all coming crashing down. We booked a cruise through Security Travel USA (supposely you won this), the ship broke down so they wanted us to reschedule. We didn't and cancelled the whole trip, now I am consulting with a lawyer to get my money back. SECURITY TRAVEL USA-BAD BUSINESS

My wife "won" this cruise a few months ago. We are scheduled to leave on April 18th and stay till the 21st at the Bell Channel Hotel. So far we have paid $99.00 per person for Port tax and $87.50 per person for registration fees. Today I was told that we still owed $27.50 a piece for "departure fees and $10.00 a piece for "homeland security fees".

The reservation specialist is now trying to get us to "upgrade" to a different hotel.

I remember when my wife won this thing I thought, it was too good to be true. Well I have to much invested not to take the stupid Cruise now.....

So like the other person I will just have to wait and see what happens. I will not upgrade the hotel....

I have sent a letter to the reservation specialist asking if there are anyother fees that i need to be made aware of that I still owe and that I want a phone number to verify our reservation at the Bell channel hotel.

So lets see so far how much this "free" trip really is:

Port taxes $198.00, registration fees $175.00, departure fees $55.00, and homeland security fee $20.00 so far that totals out to $448.00!!!!!!!

The question is not whether or not it is a scam or not, the question I now ask myself is whether or not the cruise even exists.

I will be checkng on it.

Seriously, use your instincts if you lack common sense here.
Like you have heard before "IF ITS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT PROBABLY IS"
And more importantly FINE PRINT is there for you to miss, and it holds the key info to make or break the deal. Me and my fiance recieved the call on same day, luckily she isnt impulsive and im paranoid, so they never had a prayer.
first thing i did for fun was check better business burea and they had no rating
I believe they were incorperated in 2007 spent about 100-150 dollars on that then $200 on a clean looking website and THATS A BUSINESS, the ONLY good reveiw on HERE! said trip was a few years ago, hmmmm. and it costed about or around xx.xx for registration, then..... it was $99.99 for port tax, mmmmhmm... read the only good review twice it completley sounds like a suit playing customer. SORRY
but money is even harder to come by now more than ever and a FREE trip should be FREE, port tax is understandable.
i wish everybody would read this first before pulling out the VISA.
I like everybody elses reviews as well.

I signed up for this free cruise at a little gas station in an out of the way little hick town. Within days I found out that I had won a free cruise. Yippie! I thought. Anyway I went through calling the the scoundrel that calls himself Danny O'Brian and listened to his very vague, very long pre recorded message. By the way did you notice how he is long winded on his explanation of why he doesn't talk directly with customers? I found it suspicious & laughable! So I decided to do some research and sure as you know what- I found not only this site full of complaints. I don't count the 2 raving reviews because it is very obvious that the criminals behind this scam are trying to do damage control- but the proof of this scamming "company" lies with the Better BB. This company rated as unsatisfactory! Also, I don't know about you but when I go on a cruise- I want to stay in my own cabin. A free cruise should include this and be Up Front that there will be no personal space to do your private & personal business such as changing your clothes etc. I don't care to have to stand for the duration of this boat ride with all of my belongings on my back for any amount of time. The one thing that really stands out in my mind from listening to Mr. O'Brian's prerecorded nonsense is this; he states, My wife and I put more into planning this vacation than we have ever put into our own. They must travel like gypsies. I feel like taking the trip just for entertainment value to laugh at the gypsies that have all of their belongings on their backs like a bunch of camels. ha ha ha lol. Anyway I look forward to reading the next damage control comment after this one, because I know that Mr. O'Brian and his supposid wife if he even has one will be writing soon, so Stay Tunned, and until then just say no. Don't be scammed & don't be a victim of this type of fraud. Love, One Smart Cookie

Cons: Everything associated to this low quality boat ride

I won!!!! Paying money for a "free" vacation. Don't fall for it, its totally missleading. I looked it up online and its a scam, you end up paying money for most of it. You don't even stay on the cruise ship or have any private place to keep your stuff.
When I called up the company I straight out said to the lady I was speaking to. "So basically your running a scam." She told me...to listen carefully to the recording and read the fine print....which translates into, Im scamming you into believing that this is not a scam.

I received my phone call today (on a Thursday) like others have described and have only until Tuesday the 26th to pick up the vacation package or have it mailed to me. I checked out their website, it makes them look legit, but thinking about the information and seeing how low rent of a place Bell Channel Inn... I'm deciding not to pay ANYTHING for this "free" vacation. They claim you have 18 mo. to take the trip and you have to pay 87.50 per person to have it put in your name, etc. Just sounds like a scam to me, so beware and don't fall for it!

I won this trip a couple years ago and actually really enjoyed it. Yes, they did make me pay a registration fee to hold my tickets. I dont recall how much that was, maybe $50 per person. I had to pay a port tax of $99 per person, this was back when you could travel without a pass port. Then they gave me the option of which hotel I would like to stay at, I think it was $12, $24, or $48 per person per night.
Now I know the whole gimic says its free but just think how much you really would have spent for a 5 day, 4 night cruise to the Bahamas compared to what I spend for this trip. I have actually been looking around for another trip just like this. Where you take the cruise ship to the island and they drop you off. No worries about getting back to the ship each day at a certain time.
It was a fun little get away for cheap!!

I got a call yesterday about winning this trip. My boyfriend and I looked into pricing and figured out that what we were going to pay for plane tickets, "registration fees", and port fees would have us spending at least $500, not including the spending we would do once we actually got to the bahamas. Looking at the price of the "cruise" and the "hotel" room also confirmed out suspicion that this "free" cruise is a scam because the "registration fee" could cover the cruise and then some. My boyfriend got a call today saying that he had won a free cruise as well (we entered at the same place at the same time). When he told Cindy, the travel agency rep., that he knew it was a scam, she tried to speak fast and save herself, but when he told her that he didn't believe her, she hung up on him. I am warning anyone who gets this call, tell the rep. that you know it is a scam and save yourself a lot of money and trouble!

i got a phone call saturday on "winning" a free cruise to the Bahamas. But i only was given until this Tuesday to respond. I would be required to pay a "registration fee" of $175 for 2 people. Since when does a "winner" pay for relgistration?? I can understand the port charges, but definitely not the "required" payment of $175, plus whatever else is hidden.
i will be checking with florida A.G. come monday and find out how this company can charge for registration on a free cruise.
maybe if all of us nit-wits were to keep their phone lines busy....

When my 7 year old son entered this "Earn a FREE Cruise" Sweepstakes at a local Maryland Fried Chicken in Melbourne, Florida, we were excited because we had actually gone on a totally FREE real cruise on Carnival that we won from a local car dealership two years prior. He and I had a blast and we didn't have to pay anything! No taxes, no fees, even our meals were included! We thought this was the same type of contest but IT ISN'T! We won (everyone gets that winning phone call) and we paid the $87.50 times 2 for a total of $175.00. Luckily, I researched this company (Security Travel USA) prior to paying anymore money and having a crappy time at the "low end" hotel in the Bahamas. So, I never made reservations or paid any more money but I did give the company a piece of my mind on the phone (which made me feel good). It certainly is FALSE ADVERTISING! The company should be ashamed of itself and their employees should quit when they find out the company is hurting so many families! I'm a single mom and now I'm out $175.00 for wanting to take my son on a fun trip every few years. Oh well... life is a learning experience. I do want to suggest that people start reporting this company to the company that this site won't let me mention (like I will do) because there are NO REPORTS on this company! How can that be? There's nothing FREE about this cruise!! Don't do it!! I'm spending the $600.00 to $700.00 and take my son on a real cruise!! Thank you to all the other people who wrote reviews.

I was so excited when they called me yesterday and told me I won a free cruise from Security Travel! They said I only have till Tuesday DEC 18th to get the packet. But they didn't call me till late on DEC. the 13th on a Thursday. I would either have to drive all the way to St. Petersburg or they could mail it to me. I would have to pay right then to have it mailed to me. I'm glad I hesitated!! Turns out it's not really free. Thank goodness I read the reviews on Citysearch and confirmed my suspicions. First they asked for 87.50 just to send me a packet of brochures and the reservation in our name. Plus another 87.50 for the passenger your bring with you. Then 99.00 for port taxes and then 15.00 dollars for hotel fees and taxes. I looked at there website and looked at the hotel they wanted to put us in the Belle Channel. It looks like a low-end hotel that had a tiny pool. No luxury there. Why wouldn't we stay on the cruise thats taking us there if its a FREE CRUISE? Because then they couldn't get us with all those little fees. The man on the recording sounded so honest when he was detailing all of the activities. He said it took alot of time to put together this amazing cruise but I say at best maybe an hour of his time!! THIS IS DEFINITELY A SCAM! PLEASE DON'T FALL FOR IT! YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING AT ALL " NO FEES" IF ITS REALLY FREE!!

THANKS TO THE COMMENTS LEFT BY OTHER PEOPLE, I REALLY DO APPRECIATE THE INTERNET AT TIMES LIKE THIS. I RECEIVED THE PHONE CALL FROM SECURITY TRAVEL TODAY AND CALLED BACK AND LEFT MY NAME AND NUMBER. THEY WILL PROBABLY GET BACK TO ME TOMORROW, AND I WILL TELL THEM NOT TO EVER CALL ME AGAIN, THAT I HAVE READ THE CITY SEARCH COMMENTS.

I DO AGREE IT SOUNDS SO FISHY FOR A FREE CRUISE BUT THEN THEY SET YOU UP IN A HOTEL WHY NOT STAY IN THE CRUISE?

ALSO THE FEES OF 87.50 PER A PERSON THATS RIDICULOUS, FREE WENT OUT THE WINDOW RIGHT THERE.

WELL THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE COMMENTS I WILL DEFFINETLEY STICK WITH THE CRUISE LINES IT SELF.

After reading the reviews for Security Travel, I knew this was a scam. There is no such thing as a "free" cruise. I hesitated after receiving the phone call from Security Travel, but went ahead and called the number and listened to a speech for about 30 min on the details of the cruise and how much it will cost initially. After paying $87.50 per person for administrative expenses, and $99.00 per person for the duty-free expenses, this does not add up to a "free" cruise. The hotel (Belle Channel) is an economy hotel and does not offer too much. I have not received my information package yet, but when I do, I am going to cancel.

Pros: None

Cons: Almost fell for a scam again

.

I received a call from this company that informed me that I 'won' a 'free' cruise to Bahamas. I had to pay $ 87.50 administrative fees per person, $ 99 port fees per person, $ 27 dollar per person some other fees + $ 15 per day per person 'hotel taxes'. This came up to just as much as a normal trip to Bahamas would be. This is A SCAM! DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY SELL THEIR PACKAGES BY FOOLING PEOPLE.

PS: IF you did already pay the administrative fees, read the reservation voucher - you have 30 days to cancel it. If it's been longer than 30 days you can still dispute credit card charge within 90 days after you paid the fees. Good luck!!!

I wouldn't suggest ANYONE falling for this so called "FREE" vacation. They scam you into thinking you "WON" a free cruise to the Bahamas when in fact it actually will cost you approximately $87.50 per person just to RECEIVE the vacation package (2 travelers is $87.50 X 2 = $175.00). Once you PAY your first $87.50 (NO LONGER A FREE TRIP)you get the package. PLEASE READ THE PACKAGE CAREFULLY! If you don't cancel, in writing, before the 30 days, YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR INITIAL $87.50 BACK! If you continue, then you will pay the 2nd $87.50 for your passenger (NOW adding up to $175.00). This so called "Cruise", which you don't stay on but is a 6-7 hour ferry ride, departs fromFt. Lauderdale. You need to be there EARLY, 6:30 AM & you return to Ft. Lauderdale LATE 10:30-11 PM. You will probably need to stay in Ft. Laud the night before & after! They offer you hotels that will include a free shuttle to & from the port, but you WILL PAY for your room/taxes. This can cost you $70-$180.00 PER NIGHT just to lay your head down for a few hours WOW ! ! ! You will also have to pay the port/ service fees of approx $99.00 PER PERSON. They put you in a VERY "BASIC" hotel for 3 nights. This hotel is NOT ON THE BEACH! You also have to pay for hotel taxes which are approx $15.00 per person/ per night. Let's add this all up: $87.50 PER PASSENGER REG FEE = $175.00, $99.00 PER PASSENGER FOR PORT/SERVICE FEES = $198.00, $15.00 PER PERSON/PER NIGHT HOTEL TAXES FOR 3 NIGHTS = $90.00 HOTELS IN FT. LAUD NIGHT PRIOR = $70.00 + TAX (this is on the low side), NIGHT AFTER = $70.00 + TAX TOTAL = $140.00+ hotels in Ft. Lauderdale.YOU NOW HAVE SPENT $603.00 ON THIS SO CALLED "FREE VACATION" & this does not include meals, drinks, gifts, activities, etc..My only suggestion would be to take your $603.00 and plan your OWN VACATION! ! !

Don't fall for this "contest" promotion advertised by security travel. In all, you could end up paying upwards of 400-500 dollars for a "cruise" that isn't really a cruise. You're better off booking a cruise on the internet or through a trusted travel agent on your own. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY and DO NOT PUT DOWN ANY MONEY if you "WIN" a cruise. you don't really win anything - except the chance to lose out on your hard-earned cash.
