I was thinking of a place to take friends from out of town and a associate of my recommended I try the Kress. I was embarrassed and not happy with anything that night.

I asked for a manager and it took 32 minutes for him to arrive at my table and he said sorry about the service but we are quite busy tonight and walked away. I will never go back.

The WORST club in Los Angeles!!! This is my second time to Kress and AGAIN it left a bad taste in my mouth!!! The first time I went was when it first opened and the chef gave me a personal tour and we walked into the VIP areas without any hassle. However, I noticed Name celebrities having trouble gaining entry. What? you would think they would want real celbs in thier establishment. The service was soooo bad ranging from the nasty staff to the rude security and rude doorman. Fastforward over a year later friends suggested I join them for a fun Saturday night. The same experience except we were limited to the basement which was a cess pool of sweat and bad service. Then this woman with a clip board come charging arounf forcing us to write our name and email address. She was like its for the VIP list and U MUST sign it. She was VERY nasty and was like this is my job!! What club forces people to be on their mailing list? Secondly, when we attempted to go to other floors we were told u needed a stamp and that we needed to exiti the club and talk to some guy to get a stamp. WTF we had already bought bottles and all ( 6 people) On top of all this drama it took the waitress over 30 minutes to bring the Vodka to the table. This is the worst place on earth to go I would rather saw my fingers off with a dull butter knife than to ever return for treament that is not even fit for your worst enemy!!!

FORTUNATELY I DID! there are always those promoters who will promise you endless things in a night and never EVER deliver! I finally found a promoter who keeps her word and actually follows through with what she says she's going to do. her name's brooke. when we got to kress, my friends and i were expecting a bunch of BS like always but it was the complete opposite. she got us right in and then let us sit at her table and give us a ton of free drinks. it was amazing! i always go back now...save yourself the aggravation and go through her... brookeytp@gmail com

I was having a decent evening on April 17th/18th until 1:50 AM rolled around and it was time to leave. I went to the male Hispanic bartender with short, spiky hair on the ground (not basement) floor to close my roughly $200 tab. He was talking to a girl. I waved to him to get my ID and credit card and he actually had the nerve to flick me off. I think he was trying to impress the girl. I had to go to the back of the building and get one of the bouncers, who seemed very professional, and have them take me to get back my id and credit card. This place has no hope of long term success (read the other reviews) as long as the owners allows his employees to treat customers in this manner. I will never return and encourage others not to learn the hard way that this is not an establishment to frequent as I did.

My husband and I went to kress it was cool, getting in was a breeze, the door guy was pretty pleasant to my surprise after reading what was written about him, I was prepared to go somewhere else if it turned unpleasant. The place has a nice appearance but everything is overstated it's not the coolest spot in LA with all of the beautiful people and actors, if so they must be the ones you only know if your a groupie. All and all it was a decent spot. However the parking was rediculous. My car was parked about five feet away from me and we paid them twenty bucks for me to walk by my car upon entering and exiting.

alright so let's talk about the kress... the place is vegas in hollywood. an ultra lounge that boasts a promising experience. at street level you have a restaurant with an expiremental menu. one floor up a sushi spot for sushi aficionados, one floor below is an underground dance club and at the very top an ultra exclusive rooftop lounge. w/ many celeb sightings there is no doubt that right now in hollywood this is the "it" place to be. This is les deux and area a year and a half ago...well actually it's KRESS ... now! The decor is vegas glamour, the cocktails are always made with fresh juices, and the crowd is good-looking and unintimidating. Want to see what the everybody is talking about? I do guest list for this club on saturday night. If you'd like guestlist consideration or to book a table send me an email with "kress guest list" in the subject line, how many people in the party (girls and guys), a myspace/ facebook link and your contact info. my email is cjatThedoor@gmail com

Kress - First thing don't be mistaken by entering the front as supposed to the back. If you entered the front and thought you went to Kress, you didn't you just ended up a different type of Kress Party. The entire point of going to Kress is getting to the roof which requires a stamp, which gives you access to the first, second, and fourth floor. Just like any club the club crowd is made up by the promoters and the best promoting team resides on Saturday bringing the most exclusive hottest crowd.
Kress is the place to have one of the greatest Hollywood Experiences that you could ever imagine. It is the closest thing youll get to Vegas. It has all of the exclusiveness of a small club, with all of the party atmosphere of a large club. Show up with your group and youll never forget the experience. If you show up to late you could be greeted by a mob waiting outside. To make sure you enjoy the night and don't get caught up in the hassel, get on the list.

I decided to take my team for a xmas dinner at this place thinking that we were going to have great food and service...I was so wrong! First of all, we were a group of 11 people and no one took the time to welcome us to the table and I had reservations. We ordered our food and our main dish came before our appetizers. The server did not who ordered what, our drinks were served incorrectly or never served at all, the food was nasty and just when I had it with the restaurant, I ask to speak with the manager and she took 20 minutes to get to the table. She never empathized with me, she even told us that everything is served as appetizers so it doesn't matter if you drink soup after your main dish. She did nothing at all for us but she made sure our bill for close to 600 was perfectly ran. I don't mind paying for great food and service but it hurts when you pay so much and you don't get what you expect. If you are thinking of going there, you might as well burn your cash! Not worth it!

The staff is very rude and inexperienced! I am banning this place and encouraging everyone I know to do the same! There are so many better places, with better drinks, food, price and service. Not worth the money and time!!

I went to the Kress for a our monthly Guys night out. We went to Kress with the objective of having a nice dinner and clubbing afterwards.

Food - I must say the food ranged from bland to slightly above average. I would not recommend this restaurant the food is overpriced and taste is not that great. The plates are way to small as well. It feels like dinner is really the price of admission to the club.

Atmosphere - Very Nice decor nice ambiance but it was empty on a Saturday night at 8pm. It started filling in around 9 and finally got crowded around 10.

Club - This was our primary reason for coming here. I was worried before coming here because I've heard rumors of racism and no guys being let in. However my group of 4 black guys, 1 mexican guy and 1 columbian guy were able to get in without much issue since we had had a meal there. All we had to do was have our server tell the bouncer we ate there and we were let in like that. I must say the club is really nice, and felt like a mini toned down Vegas club. The guy girl ratio was perfect for guys being about 70/30 girls to guys.

Celeb Spotting - Didn't see anyone to special, just saw Maurice Green in the club and that was it.

I would say if your gonna come here come for the club not the restaurant. And also to note don't park valet its $20 park across the street for $10 instead.

This place was my favorite of the bars I visited off Hollywood Blvd. I saw the dining area so me and a friend decided to pop in for a quick drink. We commented that for such a beautiful place, it wasn't very busy (maybe only 10 guests). I then noticed that people where going downstairs so I asked the verrrrry nice bouncer what was up and he said there was a club down there so we decided to check it out. No cover charge. When we walked downstairs all I can say is WOW! it was PACKED and they were playing the BEST house music I heard in all of L.A.! The drinks were a great price and strong. The sound system there was fabulous! We checked out the upstairs 'ultra lounge' but it was a bit boring and the music wasn't as good. Although it's a great place if you just want to sit down and chit chat with friends. My only complaints? Cheesy go-go dancers and the outdoor smoking area (no drinks outside)...but the doorman did say we could have gone upstairs to smoke on the upper terrace. Which probably would have been nicer. ALL of the bouncers here are SUPER nice :) I loved it!

I've definitely seen better night clubs in LA. Didn't try the food, so can't speak to that, but the dance floor was awful. The rooftop vip area is the best part, and even that is just ok.

The music was god awful. I'm not sure they could pay me to go back.

I wanted to like this place. Really I did. I live blocks away and always admired the former Frederick's of Hollywood building. Now, not so much. With the tacky Kress sign and garish purple lighting on the facade it looks like a brothel. I have to agree with the other reviewer that mentioned the cheap furnishings. I was sitting at the bar and literally kicked in some tacky decoration on the bar front...it was plastic! Eww.

The best thing about this place are the drinks. The cocktails are made with fresh juices and are amazing. If you get anything here get a cocktail. The food was soo forgettable. 3 of us looked at the menu for 15 minutes and couldn't decide what to order because nothing sounded appetizing. We ended up getting 2 fish and 1 pork entree. Completely bland and forgettable. I had to pour sea salt and wasabi seaweed all over my fish the get any flavor. Add to that the pounding bass from the downstairs club and you've got the worst fine dining experience ever. Also, did we need another sushi restaurant in the neighborhood? Katsuya and Geisha House have much better food, ambiance and decor. It's like the owners didn't do any research. The servers were all so nice, but why do the men have to wear those red bowling shirts??

For a Friday evening the restaurant was dead. The upstairs sushi bar was empty, downstairs was half full and they were filming a reality show at the table next to us to give you an idea of the "celebrities" that come here. And the tragic women at the bar...holy moly...I think the dress code was spandex tube dress. I only went there for dinner so I can't vouch for the club or roof but judging from the crowd I saw I have no interest. Do yourself a favor and eat at Katsuya instead and go to another bar or club.

Pros: cocktails, service

Cons: food, decor, clientele, pounding bass

For what seems to be a complex and sophisticated venue, that states that it is Asian-inspired from the design to the restaurant menu, they do quite an amazing job. Their distinguished bento box, which changes daily with at least 6 items to share, is AMAZING priced at a reasonable $25. They claim to mill their own rice, and use the best imported short grain rice. From what the servers told our party, the chefs source out the best produce, fish, and meat. Their food presentation in every aspect is detailed, interactive, and clearly made with the highest quality and prep technique. If you want to try something out of the box, then definitely check out the Kress.

Pros: Sake list, beautiful people on weekends

Cons: exclusivity

this place is the next studio 54 many people write bad reviews because many of these people don't understand club etiquette (having 2 hot girls to every guy) ... groups of guys buying bottles... not being rude to the doormen... being ok with waiting 5 minutes because the club wouldn't have any value...etc

Pros: something new to the "hollywood nightlife scene", the kress girls <3

Cons: parking (arrive early and find some on hollywood blvd), strict door (makes for quality)

the exterior of the building is very telling of the old Los Angeles era and very 20's. Nice building, that is cheaply decorated and not managed well at all. The decoration is made up of cheap materials but good talent that made it look presentable. It looks like a cheap all you can eat chinese restaurant with cheap, over played tacky spay can painted Budda and dragons all over the place. They tell you they spent millions to remodel it,... it sure doesnt look like it. Aside from the cheap interior, the service all the way from the poor stuck up greeting at the door to the unknowledgeable hosts and all the way up the management of the night club, they are all rude and abnoxious. the security acts like they are running a jail house rather than being at your service. Other than the drinks, it is one of the worst restaurants ever. If you want attitude up the a.. and bad food and like to be treated like a nobody then this is your place.

Pros: the roof top is a 3 out of 10, the worst restaurant i have ever been to

Cons: Service, Price, Food, attitude, it is the worst restaurant i have ever been to

SENSATIONAL is the best way to describe my night this past weekend. My friends and I have been dying to check out The Kress after we heard Macy Gray, Justin Timberlake, and P. Diddy have frequented the spot..we all fell in love. Being the hot spot "regulars" that we are...we were expecting the same vibe, different location thing, but definitely didn't get that at all. The Restaurant was so Grand in size, but very personable in service. The menu was ridiculously good (delicious calamari!!) and wasn't overpriced at all. I've spent 3 times more at Geisha House across the street and have gotten worse service and less variety than what I got at The Kress. The crowd at the Nightclub and the Lounge was refreshing compared to the normal stuck-up crowds at Goa and Les Deux. The cocktail servers are hot, the bartenders give you JUST the right amount in your drinks (and actually take a minute to say hello and look you in the eye), and the music gets your body moving. My group and I didn't want the night to end..but we know we will be heading back for more very soon!

My date was a foodie and wanted to try the Kress since he was raving about who the chef was. We had no reservations so we sat at the sushi bar. The place is a bit apprehensive due to the Hollywood madness at first but you've really got to check it out. On one side you have the restaurant which has a crazy spectacular menu. They also have a second level for the sushi aficionados which is where we were. Then you've got the nightclub side that was fun to witness them rejecting people, but apparently they know what they're doing if Justin Timberlake was supposedly there.
I thought the sushi was very good. This place is like Sushi Gen with glamour -and the sushi chefs were very knowledgeable and recommended some great specialty items. We went a bit crazy with the bill, but they comped us these mini creme brulees in exchange for spreading the word.

Good date place, it's not a PF Changs, which is probably why they have beefed up security to keep kids from going to the restaurant and sneaking into the club.

I saw one of the cocktailers from another floor on my way out adjusting her lingerie uniform, which gave me a mental note to book reservations for some male clients coming in next month if you know what I mean.

I have dine all over the city , and i usually don't visit a restaurant too early after opening, but i could wait to dine here . Ive herd so much Buzz and decided to go on the reputation of the chef alone . All of it was incredible. The place is remarkable , the old and the new , the colors , sound and energy were so cool. The food was creative , tasty, and the presentations was over the top.I can tell this is not a typical Hollywood restaurant , this has substance . The Asian inspired food has a unique twist. My partner and i had the most incredible time .Heirloom salad was perfect, Bentoboxes with li'l croquettes sliders were hot and delicious , Kobe carpaccio ,and the sushi was the right portion and perfect for sharing, fresh tofu, and the fish of the day was fresh and creative.desserts were something not to miss either. five stars if they can keep it up i will make the kress my favorite place to dine.

Pros: food and service ,music, changing menus , specials , unbelievable chef

Cons: valet only in the back,

I had nothing but high hopes for this landmark building in the heart of Hollywood. It boasts stunning views from the rooftop bar in addition to the Asian fusion restaurant and underground club. Unfortunately, my expectations were anything but met. The executive chef attempts to be creative by constantly changing the menu but falls short every time. There was no single item on the menu that was remotely enticing and when I decided to be brave and sample a dish here or there it was utterly inedible. While some staff were required to wear uniforms, others dressed according to their own misguided discretion. Overall, it seems like a lot of unfounded hype. This establishment is completely classless considering the fact that my meal was accompanied by the vibrations of the club below.

P.S. The sushi and sake were good but I'll hold off on the award ceremony.

I went there last night with one of my girlfriends and everything was a 10+!!! Even the valet parker was so accommodating! The hotesses were adorable and so nice, they gave us the VIP booth just because...the service was I think the best I've ever had in LA. From the bus boys to our server, they were right on top of everything and SO nice! The manager even stopped by out table to see how everything was...I know they just opened and are trying to make a good impression but it's working! The food was spectacular!! At first you might think it's a bit pricey because they call them "small plates" but the portions were perfect size! The lobster lettuce wraps and spicy calamari...YUMMY!!!! Finally a hip space with great food, great service and a great atmosphere...I will DEFINITELY go back!!
