Pros: Music, Food, Decor, Valet Parking, Staff

Cons: Downtown

Where do I begin? My uncle recommended this restaurant to me and told me about his wonderful experience. My husband called early Saturday afternoon to make a reservation. He was told by "Billy" the owner, that before 7:30, he didn't need to make a reservation because the restaurant would not be packed. Therefore we would be able to eat if we arrived before then. We arrived before 7pm, and witnessed some of the clientele entering the restaurant. Needless to say, I thought that I was entering a strip bar because several women were scantily dressed. We walk in, and notice that the restaurant is completely empty except for the one couple dining. "Billy" was sitting at the front and I asked him for a table. He then says that we could wait at the bar, until the other couple has finished eating because he had reservations. My husband then told him that when he called, he was told it wouldn't be a problem. "Billy" then became very rude, and replied in his best unprofessional voice, "Did you, or did you not understand what I said?" My husband then replied that the entire restaurant was empty and couldn't understand why we couldn't eat. Also if the restaurant was completely booked, why weren't we told when we called. Needless to say, "Billy" was so unprofessional and rude, that I will never return to this awful place. It seemed as though he felt "entitled" to treat us in this manner because he was the owner of the establishment. Please do not support this establishment. I refuse to pay money to be mistreated, especially by my own people.

Being an Entreprenuer and all around regular guy let me tell you of my experience at Harwood 609

I flew into to Dallas and stayed at one of the surrounding "Pricey Hotels" where they gave the usual spill of "Dining within walking distance" Riiiiiight. So the shuttle service took me a place that was known for it's steaks and delicious SeaFood. Not only was it overpriced but the food itself was not appealing.

Anyway after complaining to the one of the people at the hotel, they suggested I venture into the city and after a little coaxing and a shared cab ride we ended up at Harwood 609.

After entering the doors I was suddenly transported into Warm, Comfortable setting that included a Water Fall, Smooth Jazz "swirling" about with the look of a Cool Piano Bar that you would find in some of your more sophisticated Cocktail bars in a "Swanky Hotel".

While looking around a gentleman (Who happened to be standing near the piano using his phone) ended his call and shook our hands and my identified himself as the owner and welcomed us to his establishment. "I felt right at home"

I order, Turkey and Dressing , Rasberry Tea and a Salad and after eating, listened to the smooth jazz while my food digested. All of this for an affordable price of $5.41.....This is one of the best dining experiences I have had in a while.

Before you judge this restaurant on other Negative reviews.......check it out yourself!!!!!!!!!

I really don't know where to begin, this was the worst experience I have ever had in a quote "upscale" live jazz dinner club. First of all what is a dinner club, the valet was "complimentary" but then we had to pay 12.00 per person to get in the door....ok, we were not seated but rather pointed to a seat and told it was "over there" Then the waitress asked what we wanted to drink before presenting us with menus, after giving them to us she stated that they were out of certain drinks that we listed on the menu...it was 8 pm mind you, how are you already out of the drink choices? We continued the evening because we were there to for a friend's b-day party. The food was horrible, management had the worst attitudes of all and the music was horrible and they didn't play a bit of jazz to say the least, there was nothing "UPSCALE" about this place. As a matter of fact the manager asked a friend of mine to stand while he went to get a chair for another party. One of my friends asked for a different food choice and was told they were out of that, and we had to share two menus between 10 people. The menu only has about 4-5 entrees....that's if they don't run out of the ingredients...All in all this was a terrible experience, I can guarantee you this place will not be open long! Just wanted to warn everyone don't waste your time or money!

I was very disappointed with the customer service and the poor management in this establishment. A friend planned a dinner party for 10 people 2 weeks in advance. Unbeknownst to her there was a $12 cover charge of each of her guests, the table was only reserved for 8 near the fish tanks. We borrowed 2 women at a nearby table allowed us to borrow 2 of there 4 seats. The "unprofessional pinstripe suit, manager" confronted us for a chair and refused to accept that we had not taken chairs from a vacant table nearby. By this time we had already ordered drinks, and food (which is another complaint). Half of our party had finished their food before the others received theirs. The ceasar salad consisted of "iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and drenched with Cesar dressing like soup" obviously I returned it to the kitchen. The "carribean chicken, consisted of chicken breast, spaghetti sauce, over white rice, and cabbage."

It's very unfortunate that we tried to patronize a black establishment, and this was the treatment we received. What customer service handbook or management training course were you taught to confront a customer for a chair? The bus boys later brought the same type of chairs from the store room, and now the business risks loosing repeat business and future customers? due to overzealous management.

The only thing I did like was the mature crowd, live music, and pretty scenery but I can find that almost anywhere in DFW or in my travels. Needless to say, I will not return nor recommend Harwood 609 to anyone!!

I should have been wary when a place that boast good food drinks and live music make you pay to get in! They know they are going to be compin a lot of bad service. Everything was aweful I will never go back.

It is with great concern that I address service received on Saturday, February 14, 2009. Our reservations were made a week in advance, for a party of 10; upon arrival at 8:30 p.m. at your Restaurant we received a complimentary rose for the women and a glass of wine. Which, I saw as a nice touch for the evening. However, everything went down hill from there. We ordered a bottle of the complimentary wine,(thinking that we were receiving the same wine we were served), when we arrived, instead of the waitress informing us that the complimentary wine was a house wine and could not be purchased we received a bottle of Cooks wine. We informed the waitress this is not what we wanted and she was more concerned with charging us for the product than trying to accommodate us. We ordered our food around 8:50 p.m., at 10:30 there was food brought to the table for one couple in the party, two other couples received their food about fifteen minutes later (10:45) and the last two couples at 11:00 p.m. still had not received their food. The waitress came over shortly after 11:00 p.m. and stated, ?Oh yawl ain?t got yawl order? She came back a few minutes later after going to check on the order to inform us they were out of the food we ordered. She then stated that we can order something else, (this is after three hours of waiting). Why would I place another order and wait another two hours. We left at this time. Remind you this is after 11:00 p.m. and there?s nothing open this time of night to eat. We were not compensated for our $40.00 entry fee nor did we receive an apology for the inconvenience.

I am very disappointed because I attended your Grand Opening and have given great reviews about your establishment. After my encounter this past holiday, I will give no further reviews or recommend anyone to receive such horrible service. The restrooms were even filthy.

It is sad to say but the management and staff really do need better training. Yes the place looks wonderful, but the service is HORRIBLE. 1st I made reservations at 6, when I got there they were still cleaning the restaurant. they were still mopping, sweeping and vacuuming. I could not believe my eyes, but I kept going not wanting to ruin my aunts bday party. this was all going on as we arrived, they did not stop or anything, they kept right on cleaning. and NO,no one from management came over to say sorry that they were still cleaning. 2nd when we ordered our food and placed drink orders it did not go well. for example, several people ordered mashed potatoes..when our food came we received french fries. so of course,we let them know this was not our order. she then said they did not have mashed potatoes. so instead of our waitress letting us know they did not have it. the kitchen staff took it upon there selves to choose what we wanted instead. not sure if they were out of a lot of stuff but this happened with way too many plates at our party for this to be a restaurant. This also happened with a few drink orders. not sure why the waitress could not advise us that they didn't have the items. and still no management came over to assist us with the meals, cleaning, drink orders.

I have visited this establishment and agree that there are a number of absolute needed improvements, MOSTLY with management, somewhat with service and then yes, with the drinks (selection/orders) and with the food. I have read a number of the reviews on Harwood 609 and I agree and must also say 1) there needs to be immediate improvement with management; 2) each reviewer should comment on their own individual experience good or bad and not criticize those of others ? were you a part of the other people?s experience; 3) I also agree that most of the better ratings and in some instances it?s totally obvious that they come from friends of the owner, manager and or staff; and as mentioned in one other review ?STAGED?. Finally, to those who use your words to make other patrons of this place look bad, maybe you just can?t read; maybe you have personal relationships with the owner or manager and need to boost them my criticizing others ? get a life.

Bottom Line - Harwood 609 is a nice place, the parking is good, all else is down hill.

We attended a birthday party for one of our friends. The ambiance was awesome, the music was magnificent the valet was awesome and affordable. The service was impeccable and we had an excellent time. This is one of the best night clubs for a more mature crowd that we have ever been to in dallas. Te only thing missing was some reggae/dancehall music

I went to this place with a friend of mine. As soon as we walked in we noticed that we were almost the only people there other than the workers. Then we were rudely approached by the manager. There was no greeting, just stares which was weird. Maybe they were shocked to have customers and didnt know what to say. After the deliberate rudeness from the management we left and didnt bother staying. Also, this is supposed to be a jazz club, but for some odd reason they were playing Johnnie Taylor, who was a blues artist!!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PLACE!!!! The only good thing about this place was the appearance, but I have still seen better.....

My fiancee and I attended this establishment for the first time on New Year?s Eve and were seated at table 6 up front on the right hand side of the dance floor. We were both immediately impressed with the beautiful ambiance and spaciousness and want to say up front that we feel this club has tremendous potential. The initial greeting from the staff was only about average ? not particularly warm and welcoming and we were a little surprised that there was no coat check. Our waitress was very warm and friendly and seemed genuinely concerned that we have a great experience ? we both liked her a whole lot. We thought the food was great and enjoyed the music from the DJ and the evening?s entertainment, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. The staff operating valet parking was very good as well. We only had one major disappointment for the evening and that was from the bar. We first ordered a strawberry daiquiri and pina colada and when we received our drinks, we both immediately noted that the Strawberry Daiquiri was a deep red color and looked nothing like the traditional drink. Even worse was the taste?of both drinks. So, our gracious waitress replaced our two drinks with two glasses of wine ? the house merlot and a white zinfandel. After tasting both wines, it was immediately obvious that the quality/selection of the house wines is very low (cheap). Overall, our experience was good and we will recommend this place but we both feel that for this club to survive they need to improve the quality of drinks from the bar ? this will be a deal breaker for some. I wish this establishment all the best in 2009.

I came to Harwood 609's page to tell everyone what a great time I had last night and have to make an additional comment on one thing: Have you read the LONGGG reviews here where it seems one person is CLEARLY familiar with the owners and insists on taking out their personal rage on them? This whole bad review thing on this page all reads too familiar with a woman scorned. Someone needs to tell her to get some dignity and move on.
We went to Harwood 609 last night and had a fantastic time. The place is beautiful, the front desk very nice and the old club style is refreshing in this techno world. I HIGHLY reccommened ths dinner club .

The good part, great location, great ambiance, myself and friends were graciously greeted once we entered the club. Decor is appealing. Valet staff could be better informed.

We had been out all night so we did not have an opportunity for dining. The band was great; there was a private party going on but other than that attendance was meager.

Now the bad news. We were seated by a familiar face from the club scene (he was very nice) and then greeted by Mr. Billy G "the"owner" He asked what we were drinking. Since we had been out all night we all decided not to have alcohol and ordered cranberry juice with club soda and a lime. He was a bit reluctant, but took our request and complimented the drinks. My first sip tasted strange, I thought I tasted alcohol. My friend, who by the way DOES NOT DRINK ALCOHOL, immediately noticed the taste and had this very strange look on her face. I asked her if she tasted alcohol...she said YES! We asked the bartender and he said he made the drinks as he was told and yes, there was alcohol in the drinks?? Now why would the owner of a drinking establishment directly put his customers' in harms way by giving us alcohol when we all clearly asked for nonalcoholic beverages? When we spoke with Mr. Billy, his response was so vague and unconcerning...The bottom line is that in his mind he didn't "sell" us alcohol, he only promoted the service by comping us the drinks. Not very smart. I agree with some of the other reviews...Mr. Billy needs to take his behind to the back room and never come out until the place is ready to close, around 2:00 a.m.! Or better yet, work from home don't come at all, do virtual observation because he is the one that will be solely respnsible for the downfall of what potentially could be a cool place to hang out!

Pros: decor, location, ambiance

Cons: Mr. Billy seems so unhappy

This was our first time and very impress with the service. Robert was treated like a king for his 55th birthday and his guests were treated like the royal court. We enjoyed the food, drinks and the great customer service. The service, food, and the live band was wonderful. The staff was courteous and at our demand. Carmen asked us to come back and we will come back and tell others about this club. The club is classy and have a cozy atomsphere. Carmen was very graciuous and instrumental in making Robert's birthday a memorable time of his life. This is a nice place to be just for relaxing and drinks and also having the pleasure of socializing with the elite class. Keep up the good work. Like I said previously, we will be back and bringing plenty of guests.

First of this club is not going to make it! this club has many down falls to it. the staff is terrible, but it all starts with the owner, Maybe if the owner would stop sitting in there falling asleep he could see what his staff is doing which is nothing! i would appreciate if the chef would would stay in the kitchen instead of at the guess table when they come in. another thing this club/resturant is over prices $12 come on! for what bad service and you have to wait forever to get your order. they also make you pay for your drinks before they bring them to you. The dress code also needs to change. you also constantly see ladies in the owners face(ladys he is cheap) he seems to be a drunk himself who evidently could care less about his business, which is not a good look for a business man. So if you are the owner I hope you read this and stay at home and go to sleep because its seems to be what your business is doing to everybody, making them fall asleep! also the other guy who works there is always up in all the woman faces at all of there tables, flirting(unproffessional) the only ones that might like this place are friends of the owner and old! or women who think they are going to get something out of the tight wald owner. This place has alot of changing to do in order to make it.

Where Do I Begin? I think the ones on here who have given A+ reviews of this place are STAGED and must be part of the staff at Harwood 609. It cannot be real. I went to Harwood 609 Saturday, Nov 22, 2008 for the first time. This place has good intentions. The ambience is nice, the band was GREAT, Free Valet parking....but everything else was HORRIBLE!!! First off the greeting at the door left alot to be desired. Not friendly & welcoming...Secondly, having to PAY $12 at the door left me shaking my head. I was there attending a Birthday Party for a friend. I would have felt a little better about paying if everything was top notch, but it wasn't. The waitstaff does not have a clue. The place was not packed, but the way the service was provided you'd think it was super busy. VERY SLOW with the food coming out, then it didn't taste good at all. I had the fried chicken, french fries, and lemon cole slaw. You talking bout some nasty food!! And it tasted bland & blah....My chicken was not done all the way & it was lukewarm..The fries were cold. didn't even taste the lemon cole slaw...it had to be just as bad...I had to send it back and I did not re-order...No one at our table was pleased with the food. I saw several tables behind us sending food back to the kitchen. Our waiter was new and pulled out a beverage list typed out on white paper..*faints*....how unprofessional!! He had never heard of an Amaretto Sour drink...*faints again* We had to spell it out for him so he could go ask the bartender. Then there was this other guy apparently part of management. He half greeted us at the door and was floating around after that flirting with this one table, hanging all over the ladies there...Again, very unprofessional....I was dissapointed in Harwood 609 to say the least. If they were to actually hire PROFESSIONALS to run this place from management, waitstaff, and kitchen staff....their business would increase dramatically and they would not have such bad reviews.

I had the opportunity to visit Harwood 609 last Saturday November 3, 2008. I was blown away with this nice chic upscale bar as you know in recent years Dallas has no night life. The band was phenominal I don't even remember their names but they keep the bar jumping. The buffett food menu was one the best I have seen in a longtime. Now let me give the downer: Count your money. The waitstaff at least a few of them seem to have a variable rate on the drinks. My first drink cost me $6 I gave the waitress a $20 she (tried)to give meback $7, the amount looked wrong so I asked her to wait until I counted it. Yes, I was about $5 short she quickly apologized and stated it was a mistake she wasn't trying to cheat me but I never let anyone bring my change and leave without counting it first . Some of my friends made it and we all started buying each other around of drinks (only 3 people) (Rum/Coke, Tangueray no chaser & Domestic Beer) The first drink was $18 for 3 drinks, the guys keep drinks but only wanted 2 beers my friend (who told me on Monday) the price was $18 on the next order there was a beer and a mixed drink this time the guy told my friend it was $20. My friend who did not want to make a scene paid him but said at that price I will not be able to give you a tip. I told them they should have asked for a manager to come over and explain why the cost of the drinks keep changing. This is a great place to hangout but with this type of trust and honesty among the (few) waitstaff they may sink this Upscale Bar. This email was sent in good faith of what happen when we visit it and is no way to accuse the other great staff members on board but for the two that tried and did take advantage you will be informed should you be there upon our return. Please review the cost of your parties so you don't send them someone else

My review is from my Mailman. Seroiusly, he told me the other day that Harwood 609 was one of the best happy hour places he has been to. He said he got food and a drink for $5.00 and parking was free. I have been told by others that this place is pretty nice so I will give it a try on Monday for MY birthday with MY friends and tell y'all what I think, I will create a new username just for that under : wolfevideo1. Keep your fingers crossed my mailmain could not stop talking about this great jazz place with a fantastic happy hour! Looks like these other reviews may have come from one person, if you click on their name, they only went out of their way to write ONE bad review. Pretty scary that someone has THAT much time .

This is a place where you would expect to find the very best of service. Well, at first when you enter this very elegant place you go wow.......but after that, everything goes downhill. My girlfriend decided to have her birthday gathering there at Harwood 609 Jazz. The cost for just a small number of people was well over $300.00, she and her small number of guest was ask to pay an additional $12.00 door fee to attend her own birthday gathering. We all agreed that this was a bit much. The service was very poor. No one should have to pay at the door to come in to have dinner and drinks at a restaurant/Jazz club which they have already spent that kind of money. We have gone to other Jazz places many times and was never asked to pay at the door to come in and have dinner and drinks. We chose Harwood 609 Jazz because this was a new place that had lots of room. Note to the owner; never charge people to come in for dinner and drinks. All in all it is a great looking place, but until we hear about new changes in how the restaurant/Jazz Club is being operated, we will not be going back for drinks or dinner.

I visited Harwood 609 based on comments from a good friend. The place is very nice and parking is good (free valet). The staff was okay, but the food wasn?t very good, it tasted really burnt. At a point in the night, I went to the ladies room, and while in the ladies room one of the staff came in, the staff person was in the ladies room for a very short period of time when the manager Carmen, I believe happen come in. She addressed the young lady very rudely and abruptly about her ?visit? to the ladies room ?in my opinion she was totally out of line and completely disrespectful, degrading would be a better description; I was unable to see the warrant for the display and felt totally embarrassed for the young lady, I also felt disrespected for being placed in the situation. The club does have a very nice look, but my food was awful and the management display was appalling. My position at current, I don?t plan on going back

It's about time a "CLASSY, ELEGANT, MATURE" club has opened up. I was extremely impressed with the atmosphere, the live JAZZ music and the food quality. However, as with everything, there is always room for improvement. The WINE list was not that great. I asked for a glass of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay, and the female bartender gave me the house white wine as if I wouldn't know the difference. I told her that wasn't what I ordered and she replied we don't have Kendall Jackson, so I told her why didn't she just say so and not assume I'd take the house wine. So, I returned it as it wasn't too pleasant tasting and ask the same bartender if they had "La Creme" Chardonnay.. Then she said no, we only have the house Chardonnay which to me tasted like a Fruity, Tardy Beringer. So, I just settled for a Pinor white wine and called it a night. I told the bartender they most certainly needed to get a better selection of Wines. That was my only and I mean only comment of this fabulous new Venue.

I had been searching for Billy G's for a while now. I wasn't sure where they had moved to until I ran into a friend that told me about this wonderful place that had opened up about a month ago. I asked her where and what was the name of this wonderful place. When she told me Billy G's I was thrilled. Like I said, I had been searching for the place for a while. I would always go to the old Billy G's club and enjoyed the great service that I received. I never had to flag down a waiter for them to take my order or ask me if I needed a drink. I enjoyed the food, drinks, and the great customer service. Harwoood 609 is off the chain. I went last weekend and had a good time. The service, food, and the live band was wonderful. I will go back and tell others about this club. Best of all "NO SMOKING" !! You can really have fun and don't have to worry about coming out of the club smelling like smoke. I have been to other clubs in the metroplex and none of them can compare to this one. I won't go back to the other clubs due to the smoking and the crowding. Thanks Mr. Greer and Staff for making my experience at Harwood 609 a Great one. I will be coming back to celebrate my 40th birthday there and bring others to enjoy a classy club in downtown dallas.

Today was our 3rd time going to Harwood 609 for lunch. The first time was a really good experience. The food was brought out promptly and the waiter was good. The salad / dessert bar were also nice. The second time was good as well, but the dessert bar had disappeared. Today was really awful, it was over crowded and we were told to have a seat at the bar. Well no one ever came to the bar area to take our orders, so as other people walked out..... we took the liberty of seating ourselves at an empty table. Our waitress finally came and this time the salad bar did the disappearing act. Our waitress had to go to the back to get our salads after taking our orders and apologizing. As more people come in, more people got up and left. Finally....food arrives......... but it's too late, the people that order it already walked out. In order to save time, I took one of the plates with the fried chicken.... I shouldn't have!. I can't say I faired any better than my dinning companions who never got more than their salads. The chicken was over cooked/unseasoned, mashed potatos were bland and the spinach...horrible. Our waitress informed us that there were no black eyed peas or collard greens it really didn't matter because after an hour and 10 minutes we finally got a clue and left like some of the others. Numerous co-workers left after waiting for over an hour and never got more than a salad. I felt really bad for the staff because the problem was in the kitchen. We were told by others that arrived at 11:00AM, that the service and food were both good before noon. We were also told that 3 DPD officers went in the back (kitchen) and after that everything went down hill. I will give them another try in a few weeks, once the kitchen is back in working order, I mean where else can I get a full meal with dessert for $5 in walking distance. I will also be brave enough to give them a try for dinner and jazz.

Wow, there are really different opionions on this page. I came all the way from Frisco and have to disagree with the table that felt they should each write a review and try to hurt this establishment. I came for Happy hour to Downtown dallas all the way from Frisco to have a good time. What I found was a GREAT time! My husband and I started at the huge bar and then stayed for dinner and entertainment. ( side note ) The piano bar was a great touch to this fantastic jazz club. When the music got going it was all about the fantastic entertainment. I didn't speak to the manager, I guess because I had no need to complain, so I can't tell you one way or the other, but you know how some people are :) Anyway I say, give it a try. It is new so they do need to work on a few things, but hey, you can see how much work was put into this, it is going to be a fantastic place that will stay for a long time in the Downtown dallas Jazz choices. GREAT place for large groups, lots of sections to choose from in the restaurant.

Great job!

I come from Houston where Charles Bushs was the man in the club scene all the way back to Dallas. So that kinda give you my age group. I heard about Harwood 609 and traveled here from Houston to check it out. This was not what I was told nor does the pictures do any justice. THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE!!
I have seen and visited a lot of clubs in my life from Houston to Atlanta to Florida to Los Angeles and yes Harwood 609 has a lot to offer. Great food, great music, great atmosphere and I did speak to the General Manager Carmen only to tell her what a great time I did have. Often you find people that complain even if you hung them with a new rope. She was very gracious and ask me to continue to come back. She also said they will start booking major acts such as The Whispers, The Temptations, etc. I look forward to returning on those concert nights.

Thanks for every thing at Harwood 609 and Carmen!

P.S. The people that are writing very bad comments maybe it's you and not them...think about it. Sounds like there is something personal here because you are giving very personal attacks.

Pros: Atmosphere, live entertainment, FREE PARKING in downtown DALLAS?

I read reviews to track the success of a businesses, and when reading some of these reviews concerning Harwood609 they come across as being more personal then anything. These seem like they are personal attacks on certain individuals . It is sad to see a race of people attack there own race rather than to inspire them to do better and be a success. We rather tear them down before we even pat them on he back. The owner may be tried from working long hours to try to make this business work so that there is a place to go to enjoy yourself. One writer wrote that he was cheap and a tied wald, how would this person know this unless they have made a move on him themself. Come on now less address the real issues, what are the problems that needs to fix. You talked about the dress attire, what is wrong what is it that you want to wear. The dress attire is dresses casual , what is wrong with this? I can understand them wanted you to pay for your drinks before they bring them, because some people will order and walk out without paying. Less get real what is really the problem? It is so sad that we as a race can be so bitter and say ugly things. You talked more about the owner than the serves, have you every though that the man may just be tried from work and trying to provide a good product or may have a sleeping disorder. No one and nothing is perfect, I promise you if this same person when into a white club and was ask to dress a certain way they would have a problem with it nor with the cover charge. If this place was such a bad place then don't go back, but don't be so messy and put the people and place down. It's okay to have concerns but don't be so ugly life is to short to be this way. Maybe this is a place for older people who can appreciate a nice classy place to have fun, this may not be the place for everyone. But as a black race let learn how to do better about supposing each other. I have visit the club and found a nice place for both gender.

Pros: Ambience, Service, Great staff

Cons: No Cons

I decided to revisit Harwood 609 because a friend thought we should give this establishment another try. The crowd size was okay, not crowded but okay. Our food was delivered slowly and my main entree wasn?t cooked all the way through. The management, Carmen was again very unprofessional, just rude and unfriendly; the experience wasn?t very positive. I stand firm to my previous statement that this establishment needs an immediate management overhaul if they plan to succeed; also to add that some staff persons spend far too much time being flirtatious than customer serviceable or available. I guess experiences change based on when you go - I believe in giving the benefit of doubt, but don?t know if I?ll try them again ? this experience wasn?t very different than the first. The owner must care very little about his business and have no plans of success to have such bad management in place.

I have read some of the other reviews and agree that they MUST have family/friends write the truly great ones, especially those that reflect the graciousness of the manager Carmen, total deception.

Pros: Parking, Looks

Cons: None new

I believe in giving anyone a fair shake. At first glance the place seemed like it would be a place to go. The initial glance and setting are nice; some of the staff was nice, but most seemed to be unorganized and unseasoned. The manager (Carmen) very unpleasant - personality or people skills must not have been a job requirement ? she is the worst I?ve ever experienced or hope to ever experience. Based on her ?persona? alone, people from our entire party said they would NEVER go here again, neither will I.

Pros: Nice Setting, Parking

Cons: Various

.

Atmosphere is very nice. Service is horrible and the food was worse than awful!!! Terrible greeting at the door and the staff seemed to be otherwise occupied even though there were only a handful of customers. The GM, Carmen, I believe should take a crash course in personality and customer service 101. I have witnessed her unprofessionalism on numerous occasions; the owner(s) of this establishment obviously cares very little about their establishment. The management staff as a whole is very bad and unbelievably unorganized. In addition to all of this, we actually witnessed the GM verbally attack a customer without any level of provocation. Trust me, the ONLY thing this place has going for it are the looks.

Harwood 609 gives the impression that it will be a very pleasant experience but it doesn?t even come close.

The outward appearance of this place and the decor makes a good first impression. The flyer says said buffet, but only the salad and dessert were buffet style.

If you looking for someplace nice to look at, Harwood 609 is your place, but if you?re looking for anything additional RUN????.

Pros: Presentation

Cons: Every thing else

.

The look of this place is very deceptive. Service is repulsive and the food not much better. Worst greeting EVER at the door, the staff appears to be clueless, which explains small handful of customers. Head Manager is named Carmen, where could possible have found this terrible person, with an equally bad attitude. She?s rude and devastatingly disruptive; this chick must being doing huge favors to have such a role of responsibility. The entire management staff is significantly bad ? the entire staff not prepared or adjusted. When it comes to the look of the place, it?s nice, but what?s a nice place when the management and staff are the worse you can get. This place gives a good impression, past the impression don?t get your hopes up. First glance is good, but you know the saying, can?t judge a book by it?s cover ? definitely the case here.

Go to Harwood 609 - I go 2-3 times a week and it's like eating in grandma's kitchen! Homecooked food, great price, and now....good service. They have overcome their opening week jitters, the orders are quick, accurate, and the food is wonderful. No where can you get this quality and quantity of food for under $8 including tip.

Atmosphere is beautiful! Service is bad and the food was awful!!! We were greeted poorly at the door. The waitstaff seemed to be preoccupied even though there were only a handful of customers. Some friends and I came after a Kenny G concert. The concert was wonderful and we expected a lot from the dinner club because of the atmosphere but wow!!!!!! If they want to stay in business they must always be about business. The workers do not have a clue who I know and if I would recommend the restaurant. I am calling the manager/owner about the service and hope they improve. The macaroni and cheese one of my friends had on her plated tasted like "box" - I can make better. We could not cut into the side by side pork chops. Crab cakes were not good at all. Please don't use can green beans and call them Italian cut.

This could be a wonderful place but in order to win over the evening crowd, they must step it up on the food.

Wow, Have you been to ANY jazz club lately? The great jazz clubs I have heard about seemed like something only the ?old timers? could talk about until now. I live Downtown in Dallas and went to Harwood 609 Jazz & Dinner Club last night. It was so much fun! Fantastic from the very start, you walk into this amazing waterfall wall on either side of the entry, then through the front doors to the right is this BLUE piano bar with Palm trees and low comfortable lounging chairs. The piano bar (with a full grand piano)tells a story on it?s own. Venturing onward.. more HUGE palm trees and tiger carpet draws you in as the excitement rises and the music fills the room. Going deeper still the stage is to the left with an ample dance floor, a full DJ booth and a full stage, so live jazz music or top hits can be mixed up for swaying or jiving. Keep going because?.far back on the wall there is a FULL wall of fish in this HUGE fish tank! Simply the most amazing Jazz and night Club EVER! It can only compare to the stories of the ?good ole days? I am sure, because up till now I guess I have never been into a TRUE jazz and dinner club, I am convinced, because this is a must see! My hats off to this fantastic display of passion and dreams that can come true right here in the heart of Downtown Dallas. I am listening right now, Sunday morning to a cd from the headline singer Martha Burks. Her voice is smooth as silk! Love love love this new Jazz club! I wonder if they are going to have brunch as well anytime soon? Jazz brunch would be fantastic!

Cons: It first appeared that parking was going to be a problem , but they provided FREE Valet! so no cons at all

I had a great time at Harwood 609! I love the decor and the staff was really friendly. The Jazz band was fantastic. I had so much fun. Oh and the drinks were good too! I will definately be back. The food and deserts were really tasty as well.

I went in for dinner last nigh and it was fantastic. I have not been in harwood 609 for lunch but for a downtown jazz club it was supberb. The chicken was great and I can't tell you the last time I had butter beans like that. Real food, and real entertainment. This club will make it for the jazz alone. The fishtanks were entertaining enough, so I would reccommened that you give them a try at night. Maybe lunch was a afterthought???? Jazz downtown in a swanky way.

Cons: none

.

The restaurant is nice and beautiful. But the management is bad, it is very unorganized and the wait is terrible, do not go during your lunch hour. I wish I could have eaten but since they took too long it was time to go. We weren't the only ones several people left. Also the bar staff was waiting tables that is how short handed they where.

.

Harwood 609 gives you the impression that it will be a very nice experience but it was not close. The wait staff wasn't very accurate as to what there was to drink, he never mentioned the salad bar which was probably the size of a small table. The dish with the lettuce was very low and you had to wait a while before it was refilled. I asked if there was Ranch dressing and the wait staff said yes so I asked if he could bring me some. I left after waiting 45 minutes and never got Ranch dressing. We had to flag one of the staff down to ask who will take our order, she said that she's a bartender and doesn't know what she is doing but still took our order 30 minutes into our lunch time. As we are waiting for our food two other people on another table couldn't wait any longer so they left. They were there before us and they got there food about 35 minutes into the time we showed up, so no telling how long they actually waited. So after waiting for so long we decided to leave and our food was never brought to us. This was no buffet style restaurant like they mention on their flyer. They need to get a wait staff that actually knows what they are doing and hire more. Also this is not a Latin American cuisine just your average american food.

The outward apperance of the resturant and decor made a good first impression. My party was seated within a few minutes which led us to believe this was the "no waiting" claim that was posted on the a flyer for the resturant. We were offered drinks but had to coax the staff for more choices and were not advised on how the service works. The flyer said buffet, but only the salad and dessert were buffet style. As we were getting our salads we discovered the lettuce dish running very low. Not a staff person in sight to ask for more lettuce. The main dish had to be ordered, and it was extremely difficult to locate a waiter. After waiting for over 45 minutes we left never to return.

I was at Harwood 609 on Friday night and had a wonderful time. I got a chance to listen to Martha Burk again...which was wonderful because she has it going on. I had such a great time, I went back on Saturday and some of my friends came along with me. Mrs. Breggett Rideau was singing on that night. She said she will be back on this Friday...I will be there.

I don't understand the experience that some of the other people have posted on here because I met Carmen on my way in and gave her a compliment on my way out about the food and the music. She in no way seem to need "101's" from anyone. Maybe it was your attitude instead of her's. Some time you bring your bad experience on yourself.

See you at 609 on Friday for Mrs. Rideau's next performance!!!!
