Best meal I have had in a long time. The fish was amazing, the shrimp and grits were the best I ever had and the desserts were incredible.

My husband and I recently visited Toast after receiving a recommendation we trusted. The ambience was lovely and we were off to a good start with the spinach salad, but then came the entrees. We both ordered fish and still regret the decision. To start, you could smell the fish when it was yards away - not a good sign - that soon became a reality. The amberjack in particular had been out of the sea for quite a while. To add insult to injury, it was terribly overcooked - tough, dry, and unpalatable. When the server asked how things were we responded that the fish was past its prime and overcooked. He shrugged and turned away witihout comment or question. (Overall the staff seemed much more interested in visiting with old friends than acquiring new ones.) The meal was quite expensive given both the lack of quality and portion size. It really isn't that hard to cook fish, or to provide good service. Too bad really - they could have provided a lovely even - they just didn't really seem to care to do so.

Pros: Lovely atmostphere Good wine selection

Cons: Food disappoints

The food was amazing, the service is top notch! You may find some things on the menu that you wouldn't typically see in Pittsburgh and the menu is constantly changing! Go in with an open mind and try anything, you'll probably love it! We ate in the "wine cellar" room, it has a very relaxed and intimate feel, also the sink in the bathroom was neat. I don't even know what to say about the food, everything I ate was even more delicious than the last. When you eat just the bread and butter at the table and you're amazed you know it's going to be good.

Pros: Even the butter on the table was the most delicious thing!!
