We live in Frisco. In January (2010), I wanted to find a place where you could learn how to bowl. The closest location was Lakes Lanes with Coach Bill Lish. He offered a Sunday afternoon session where you could bowl for two hours and have a coach help you with your game. The price for two hours of coaching was very reasonable at just $14.00.

There are usually anywhere from 6 to 12 "students" attending with two to three coaches - so the ratio is very good. They are very knowledgeable and personable.

Since going there, I've improved my bowling from a 120 average to a 180. I just bowled a 250 game!

I've joined a league for the first time and enjoy the simplicity of the lanes ... no loud music, no MTV videos ... just an old fashioned bowling alley.

The lanes are new but the equipment was purchased as refurbished to keep the cost down. They oil the lanes regularly and have a strong youth league of over 60 kids.

If you are interested in a family atmosphere (family owned versus a chain) and like bowling that is fun, safe and enjoyable ... check out Lakes Lanes.
