I was in there last year for yearly check up for my 12 year old dog. This Vet is so corse, nasty to my children, robotic and n bedside manner. Nor a stranger to charging what ever top $ for your animals health. Over all we sent over $7,000, between the checkup, shots and having my dogs teeth cleaned, a fat desposit removed which could turn into cancer and eye ducts flushed they were clogged. The quote $1,500. - $2,000. According to Dr. Valese my dog had infections under the gum line hence the need for teeth cleaning. He had him for 2 hours. I called to check on my dog and she actually put the dr on the phone when my dog was under. When I came in minutes after the surgery was over to pick up my dog they handed us a bill of 1800. Confused we wanted to speak to the Vet about it - he took his time and they kenneled my dog during "recovery" while we were waiting which they charged extra for. and he wasn't able to remove the fat depposit cause he was under too long. The teeth cleaning took longer then he thought (But he's an expert right?) and now he will need to put him under again to extract 4 teeth which will cost another $2,500.00. while disputing the cost they would not give us our dog. my son crying in the waiting room once we payed they handed him over. I WOULD NEVER GO TO THIS VET AGAIN!!!!

The clinic is state of the art - because all they care about is money. I foster cats with leukemia and have spent, literally, thousands of dollars over the years at this clinic. While Dr. Valese has always been a cold and distant person, his care of the pets was adequate (nearly all my visits were to put ill cats to sleep and only twice to obtain medicine for well-er kittens) and he was the nearest to my home.My suspicions and distrust began when I brought a very ill kitten to him and he refused to allow the nurse to bring the kitten in to be seen until my credit card had gone through. Despite the fact that the kitten was piteously crying in pain. Keep in mind that he had before held a check for me which I immediately honored as agreed and that I have also several times donated money to the emergency care fund jar kept on the front desk. The last straw has come this week as I begged him to see my very ill, elderly cat who has been my longest and dearest family companion, not a foster. For a lousy $200 fee, he refused to see us, nor would he hold a check for me a scant THREE DAYS until I got paid on that coming Friday. Instead, the nurse blamed me for not bringing in the cat when he became ill very suddenly two days prior (a Sunday - I called him on Monday and they got back to me on Tuesday).I am now calling around for another vet as a friend has come to our aid after hearing my poor cat crying as we spoke on the phone. He has been suffering for three full days now. There are other vets in the Pocono area, but my definite recommendation is NEVER go to Dr. Valese unless you have the money up front and he is the VERY last resort. I've now got another cause to fight for: A law demanding that, like people, vets MUST see critically ill pets regardless of the current situation. Sadly, though my money crunch is only temporary until Friday, my beautiful and loving cat has had to pay the painful price of Dr. Valese's greed.
