We ate here on a Saturday evening and without question, enjoyed the evening. A quaint atmosphere with a real hint of small town French. The restaurant is an old refurbished house which lends itself perfectly to this type of restaurant. The

My wife and I have been regulars at this place since the brother and sister team from the Basque country of France opened. It is consistent. The portions are sensible size (which is pretty much unheard of in Houston) and prices for both

Okay, this place is now in my list. The lamb osso was superb,I had the salmon with the white wine and butter sauce yum-yum must try, duck in grapefruit sauce , the pate plate is the best deal in town and the crucnh french bread from F*rench Rivierra bakery is addictive. Their desserts were staring at me so I couldn't resist and neither could the others. We had the mousse, the basque and the apple tart for desert. The basque is so delicious that it deserves a moment of silence at the table when you take your fist bite. Can't wait to go back and try more dishes & the crepes. Go!

Bistro des Amis features freshly-prepared, classic Paris bistro cuisine in a charming, casual setting. Prices are moderate, too. This middle-range French restaurant is a good choice for all gourmets, or for those who would like to exercise their gourmet muscles-- without breaking their wallets.

The Lowdown

Pros:
?Delicious, simple French bistro dishes with modern flair
?Excellent service and friendly wait staff
?Basque dcor transports you to Biarritz
?Terrace offers outdoor dining option

Owner Matthew Brice and his staff offer up freshly-prepared market ingredients in elegantly-presented traditional dishes, adding just a zest of the eclectic and modern to old favorites.

Because seasonal ingredients are favored by the kitchen, there are always daily menu specials. You can order a la carte, but I recommend the fixed menu for a first visit.

In short, Bistro des Amis is worth reserving an evening to enjoy and experience.
