Great studio, great people! Don't let the other reviewers scare you: the business side of the fitness world is tough, and the GISFW Westford studio has had a change in management in the past 6 months. But if you're looking for help to find good health and fitness, this is the place! I joined GISFW in Westford about a year ago. Though small in size, I had high cholesterol, insomnia, and post-baby pudge creeping up on me, and I knew it was time to make a lifestyle change. Neil, Scott and the other great trainers in Westford welcomed me and put an exercise program together tailored to my ultra-beginner skills. They taught me about nutrition to support the physical transformation, not a "diet" in the usual sense. In a month my triceps were visibly developed, and in 3 months my abs were toned and beautiful! My self-confidence soared, my cholesterol dropped to healthy levels without medication, and I was sleeping peacefully despite a new, demanding job. The weight-training, cardio, nutrition, weekly accountability and constant support was a powerful, transformational combination. If you need some help getting started like I did, the GISFW Westford team is the best!

I believe that GIS4W is a good investment and you probably get out what you put into it. I would suggest going to another location though. The owner of the Westford gym will tell you 10 times in the 2hour "consultation" that they don't just take anyone. I find that very hard to believe. She is very passionate about what she does, but turns into a she-devil if you decide not to sign up the first time meeting her. She insulted me and she said she had NEVER heard of anyone wanting to take a day or two to think it over. I wasted 2 hours of my busy life with her and wanted to sign up, but just couldn't give my business to this woman. I was ready to join, up until the last 10 minutes of the meeting.
That sales play definetly doesn't work and she lost my business right then. I'm going to join another GIS4W at a different location.

Avoid this cookie-cutter business like the plague...it's like fast-food training. You will be told a million lies to get you to join. Trust me, they take EVERYBODY who is willing to pay...they just pretend to be selective to make you feel special. The problem is, they take so many people that regardless of what "Hope the Dope" tells you, there are very very limited time slots available during peak times. If your schedule at work changes or your schedule at home changes, you can pretty much kiss your money goodbye as you helplessly wait for time slots to open. After my schedule changed, I was reduced to going once a week until I finally quit and joined another gym.

The training is very short 25 minutes, then you are sent to the treadmills for another 25 minutes. The equipment is so limited that it gets horribly boring very quickly and entire areas of your body are skipped...core training is pretty much non-existant. ( I didn't realize how much I was missing until I joined a different gym.) There are no classes to break up the monotony and no showers so you have to run straight home when you're done. I joined Best Fitness and couldn't be happier. For what I was paying at GISFW, I meet with a PRIVATE trainer twice a week for half an hour, then after she absolutely busts my hump with a totally personalized program I use the wide variety of other machines there for another hour. There are several styles of cardio machines, so even the cardio has variety. On my days without the trainer, I do the rotating selection of exercises she has taught me along with fun classes and whatever additional machines I want to hit. Oh, and when I'm done I can SHOWER so I can run directly to work or wherever I need to go. The flexibility of hours makes it possible to exercise more and with a more relaxed attitude.

Just like the decline and death of "Curves", this too shall pass. It's a miserable replacement for personal training.
