came here w/ a friend after work and was thinking trying out the R/week menu. the experience started off rocky but got progressively better. first when my friend and i got to remi, the maitre d ignored us for a good 2 min trying to organize her menu stack and did not even greet us or anything. after she finally got her area organized then turned to us. i told her we made a resv. and we were seated. she did NOT give us the r/week menu but ONLY the regular one. Only after i inquired about it from the waiter did he bring us the R/w menus (not his fault, it's the maitre d's). the waiter was pretty attentive thru out the dining experience but i did ha ve to ask for water a few times... the food was excellent (had the beet salad and salmon - cooked perfectly). the dessert was nothing to rave about but nothing terrible either. all in all my friend and i had a good time...

One thing that truly stands out about Remi is the restaurant itself. It's very spacious with high ceilings and a huge floor to ceiling window that adds a touch of elegance and awe to the place. The food is equally as exceptional and everyone at my table easily cleared their plate - we had gnocchi, risotto, fish and a veal dish and absolutely everything was top notch. This is a great place to get the family together or celebrate something special.

Convenient to Radio City and the theatre district, it is neither disappointing nor memorable. The atmosphere is quite nice, service okay, food acceptable, wine list good- all satisfactory, but nothing really special to bring one back.

My family is Italian (di Roma) on my mom's side, so suffice to say I'm a little picky when it comes to Italian Food. The service was immaculate (Alessandro and the rest of the staff were fantastic), warm, welcoming and very attentive (but not excessively so). They have a full bar, an admirably extensive wine list, and soda. The bread was delicious, the olive oil tasted earthy, and the food. My goodness the food.
We had the Polenta with melted Fontina, Tuna Tartare and the Scallops for appetizers. All to die for.
For the main courses, we had the Spinach Gnocci in a pink sauce (they were so fluffy and delicate that they just melted in your mouth), the Pumpkin Ravioli in a Sage Butter sauce (also light and wonderful as the pasta is made in house fresh daily), and the Filet Mignon (dear lord that green peppercorn sauce knocked all our socks off in a wonderful way).
We were so pleasantly stuffed from the meal that we sadly didn't have room to try any of the incredibly enticing desserts.
I highly recommend Remi for a romantic evening out, family celebrations, a classy dinner, work lunches/dinners/events or even just to satiate a foodie's longing for wonderful food, deliciously prepared, immaculately presented and wholeheartedly enjoyed through and through.

I rediscovered Remi 7 years after it fell of my radar. Wow, I didn't know that pasta could taste this good! I'm not kidding you when I say that I was delightfully surprised with every bite. From the apps to the main course to dessert: everything I tried was STELLAR! It's a rare & welcome occassion that I leave a restaurant in NYC thinking, "wow, that was worth every penny!" Perhaps more refreshing was the range of dishes. There are no complicated flavor combinations or frilly garnishes or overly structured presentations at Remi--just phenomenal food made with fresh ingredients. A great wine list to accompany the meal. And the staff if excellent. You guys should open one in Connecticut.

Cons: we drove here...a no no in manhattan.

Remi restaurant combines the rich traditions of Venetian This charming restaurant in Midtown West is a great place to take clients or friends--specially if you want to impress them. The Venetian cuisine is excellent--try the homemade pastas and risottos--and the decor and design of the place is first-rate, not to mention the service. But bring your boss--it's expensive.

I travel between Italy quite often and the US and I stumbled into Remi Restaurant by accident. Wonderful experience and therefore the best "accident" that has ever hppened to me. Food was great and I particularly fell in love with the "Vitello Tonnato" and the classic "Ossobuco". Service was outrstanding and the GM, a nice gentlman from Milan, personally took care of us by offering suggestions, despalying a great knowledge of the wine list. The atmoshere was also quite intriguing and I felt I was back into my hometown in Italy for a while but with the addition of glamor and professionalism which we find in italy quite rearly.
Great 'cioccolatissimo" a warm chocolate souffle' interpreted Italian style. Highly reccomended...

The service here was excellent. I really enjoyed the seafood and the bread. It's not cheap, so make someone else pay.

Just walked in (party of 3), no reservations, no hassle. Seating available after a brief wait which gave us a chance to grab drinks at the conveniently located bar as soon as you enter to the right. Happy hour specials available...martinis were delicious. The food portions are large - so mind what you order for appetizers. We had the rare tuna app, buffalo mozz/tomato app, portobello ravioli, lasagna, salmon and risotto special. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. No room for desert.

We were not from the area but were going into the city and needed to find somewhere to eat after the christmas show at Radio City. I was skeptical selecting a restaurant over the internet, but was pleasantly pleased with the results. Based on the reviews, location, prices, and menu I chose Remi's. Christmas in NY can be a crowd frenzie and I was nervous that the restraunt experience would not measure up during this caotic time of year. Not only did it measure up, it exceded my expectations. We were warmly greeted and seated promtly to a lovely table for four. Our wait staff were very helpful, attentive, and unobtrusive. They were readily present, attending to our immediate needs. You hardly knew they were there. Not once did we feel the need to request someting, they seemed to know what we wanted or needed (even before we did), there was no having to ask for service here. What more could you want? Our head waiter was excellent. We wanted a nice meal at a reasonable price and he senced that. He was very warm and friendly, he made you feel as though you were invited into his own home for dinner. He assissted us with wine selections, and menu choices and he was dead on with his recommendations.
Being a wine lover I was pleased with the extensively wonderful and very tempting wine list, but we chose a reasonable price selection and it was fine for our dinning purpose. Each of us ordered one of the pasta dishes. The pasta was light, just the right size proportion, served piping hot, and cooked to perfection. We all sampled each others and each was more delicious than the next.
I would definately go back without question! No worries here, good food, good people, good atmosphere, clean, efficient service....a great dining experience. Great job to the staff and chefs at Remi's.
The only FYI I have is that the menu on their web site is not exactly the same as in the restaurant, but it was very similar (food/prices) and all good just the same.

Food was good, decor fine. Lived in NY most of my life and was trying to make a show. Everything was fine until I tried to get my coat for 10 minutes before asking the maitre 'd to assist me, which he seemed to ignore my request. Waited 10 more minutes until my showtime to ask the maitre 'd once more if there was something he could do. His reply was "Areverderchi this is NY get used to it". I dine thoughout the city on a regular basis and have never incountered this rude attitude at any restaurant that I have dined. I would have to say I will never return.

Having read the reviews we were expecting an excellent dinner. The ambiance was fine, the service was fine but the food was a disappointment. The caprese salad was good but the pasta was heavy and salty and the gnocci was bland and coarse. Food prices were way above average for food of this quality. The nero d'avola was also mediocre. With many restaurant choices offering much more nuanced and flavorful fare at a better price we will not be returning to Remi.

With my family we were on a Saturday July 28, in Ew York City and our Concierge Steven Bagley from Four Season Hotel recommended to visit Remi, for an Italian experince.
First time eating at Remi. Charming and elegant Venetian Atmosphere: enhanced by elegant and professional service. I was truly impress for the food at Remi.
We party of four and we order to share eggplant alla parmigiana was delizioso, tuna tartar fresh and flavored with avocado and a plate of fresh Bufala Mozzarella and beef ripe tomato and beet salad withgoat cheese, all delizioso to start.
We choice thre pastas to share; cavatelli with sausage and broccoli rabe, strozzapreti with sicilian black olives and sun dried tomato pesto, gnocchi with chicken ragout and aldente schiaffoni with mozzarella cheese. Pasta was aldente and the sauce was great. We enjoy our main course my wife order Mediterranean Sea Bass , Veal MIlanese myself, my my other guest veal scaloppine with Mushroom and Veal Shank with saffron risotto. I do suggest Veal Shank - was cooked perfect. I do love Veal Shank. Many Italian restaurant they have in the menu, Remi is my favorite.
For dessert my rasberry chocolate mousse cake was great. The panna cotta perfectly made, the Tiramisu and Venetian Cookies.....what a great flavor.
Our sommelier was great for the peter Gary Farrell Chardonnay - Russian River Valley Sonoma and great red Cabernet Sauvignon Pine Ridge Rutherford Napa Valley.
Good Wine List with a lot of choice of Italian and California Winerys.
An elegant Italian host welcome us to the table and at Our server Ben from beautiful city of Udine, providing and attentive service.
I will certainly be coming back and thank you for the amazing ambience, exceptional flavors and attentive staff.

Visited on a Saturday night. Chose this resaurant based on reviews from this sight. Food was bland, nothing special. Nothing to rave about. Atmosphere quiet and boring, not elegant. Good service, but pushy sommlier. In general the food was just okay. Not what we were expecting, especially for the price.

We were very late for our 6:15 reservation, but no problem. We called and the host said not to worry they would hold our table for us. When we did arrive at 7:00 (due to traffic) we were concerned that we wouldn't have time to eat before the 8:00 show began. This restaurant was incredibly accomodating. We had dinner and dessert in less than an hour and didn't feel rushed. The food was wonderful and the service was lovely. We would come back here frequently.

Last Night I visited Remi for the second time.
I was in NYC for pleasure and work .I was truly impressed with service and the food at Remi.
From a great Handsome and attractive Host to the table service, the food and the ambiance. Our Server was a young men Philippe from Montecarlo. The service was perfect and our meal wonderful. Tuna Tartare for my wife and Bufala Mozzarella with Florida sliced ripe Tomato, half pasta Cavatelli with broccoli rabe an sausage, my wife eat bucatini matriciana. The succulent roasted Rabbit the best in town and my dear wife "La mia Dolce Vita" eat Mediterranean Branzino both perfectly and rightly cooked!.
For Dessert we select Cioccolatissimo and Mixed Berries with Delicate Vanilla Italian Beans Ice Cream. and a plate of assorted Venetian Cookies.
The Wine List is well priced match with The Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards 2006 with extensive variety of Italian and California Wine.
The beautiful mural of Venice Grand Canal and the staff operates like a well-rehearsed professional Broadway troupe.
Remi is one of the best Italian Restaurant in Midtown NYC.!
We Reccomended Remi for the true Italian Food and Service!

Remi is a very nice place to eat in Midtown. The restaurant is visually appealing with its beautiful mural of Venice spanning the length of the restaurant. The restaurant has a very nice selection of reasonably priced wines. The restaurant is straightforward and unpretentious. The proscuitto w/ melon was excellent as a first course place. The various entrees that we ordered in our party of 8 all received positive comments. The selection of gelatos is very good. We would definitely go here again.

First time eating at Remi. Charming Venetian Atmosphere; enhanced by efficient and professional service. The menu offered unlimited choices of Italian Cuisine starting with well assorted appetizers (we loved the beet salad with goat cheese), followed by a large selection of homemade pastas (must try the pumpkin ravioli and the incredible lasagna!!!!!!!!). Our selections of red snapper and the veal scaloppine in lemon sauce enhanced what continued to be a wonderful evening experience. Fortunately we left room for tiramisu' and white chocolate hazelnut semifreddo!!!!!!! It was a great experience.

I dined here alone during restaurant week, for lunch. Host was friendly. My meals came out pretty quickly, since there wasn't a huge crowd at 1pm. My salad was pretty good, salmon was excellent, but the vegetables that accompanied it (broccoli and spinach i believe) were very bitter...I had to add salt and lemon to make it decent. Waiters were pretty slow, didnt refill my glass of water until I was about to leave, and I had to ask several times to get the check and the slices of lemon. In the end, I guess it was okay, because my rasberry chocolate mousse cake was great!

The New York restaurant Week or Prix Fix meal at approx $ 25.00 was a terrific value.

The hazelnut ice cream, tiramisu and the plate of Biscotti, mamma mia!!! what a great flavor.
We will return to remi with many, many friends.

If restaurant week menus are supposed to intice you to come back to a place later, then these guys have it all wrong. Ravioli and lasagna with sauces that were bland and uninspired. I've honestly had better out of a can. One of our party ordered appetizers off of the regular menu that were a little better, but generally unimpressive, given this restaurant's high ratings. The service was very good and the ambiance was nice, but neither could make up for the short comings of the kitchen.

My husband and I have been to Remi many times and will go back. Most of the times you don't need a reservation but for larger parties it's helpful. They are very helpful with picking wines that go well with your food and will even give you a tasting if they have a bottle open.
The prices are reasonable for midtown and the food is always a good choice. Ask to sit in Bennies section, he's great.

Remi is a great place for a business lunch, but it's pretty average on the scale of italian food. A best bet would be to go to Remi To-Go, which offers decent take-out food at lowered prices past 2pm during the workweek.

Remi is a great place for a business lunch, but it's pretty average on the scale of italian food. A best bet would be to go to Remi To-Go, which offers decent take-out food at lowered prices past 2pm during the workweek.

Excellent!!
Excellent!
We were a table of 6 for restaurant week. the meal was exceptional, and all my guest gretly enjoyed the atmosphere and service.
The food was excellent, and the staff was friendly and professional. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone living or visiting NYC. Thank you for being a role-model restaurant.

I have read so many rave reviews about this place, I couldn't wait to try it! A friend and I went over restaurant week, so maybe they down-graded their dishes, but even the dessert was bad!! Everything was so tasteless! The best part of the meal was the complementary goat cheese and sauce for the bread! I would never take a chance and try again, it was that bad. On the plus side, the service was good...

My wife, associate and I enjoyed dinner at Remi on Saturday night, and from welcome to good night it was an exceptional experience. We were greeted promptly and shown to a wonderful table in the main dining room, a place of beauty, with modern archetecture and elaborate murals. The service was perfect and our meal was wonderful. I had perhaps the finest buffalo mozerella and tomato salad - the cheese seemed to melt in my mouth, and the tomatos were red, ripe and sweet. My entree was the osso buco, which was fork tender and tasty, served over safron risotto. Desert included a fantastic cheesecake served with a poached pear half which had been sprinkled with sugar and put to the torch ala creme brulle. When in the area, this is a restaurant not to be missed!

This place was a dream come true!! Outstanding food with a charming ambience. Great range on the menu, too. From less expensive selections to "Baby, it's my birthday!" Very accomodating for our kids as well.

Last night (7/6/04) I visited Remi for the first time. I was in NYC for work & pleasure. I was truly impressed with the service, the food and the ambiance. I really appreciate good food and good service. Remi was recommended by others and I agree that it is a restaurant I would recommend. Keep up the good work! Thank you for providing an inviting atmosphere and good food (especially the rabbit).

I am in LOVE with Remi! I have never in my life had such magnificent service. The food was delicious. I ambiance was delightful, but nothing holds a candle to Remi when it comes to kind, courteous, and efficient waitstaff.

We ordered off the restaurant week menu, which at other establishments means automatic second-rate service, but not here. They even sent over an additional dessert so we could try a wider sampling free of charge. I will certainly be coming back, restaurant week or no.

Pros: Great service, Great food, Beautiful atmosphere

.

The service here was particularly excellent and the atmosphere was very intimate, even as the restaurant started to fill up while we were there. The food was delicious, although the risotto was slightly hard for my taste. The veal carpellini (sp?)is also really rich in flavor. The panna cotta topped off my meal perfectly, especially because it wasn't too sweet.

If you are going to go see a show on Broadway you should really consider going to Remi afterwards. The food is genuinely Italian and wonderfully New York. Plus, the decor is out of this world. You really feel as though you are dining among the stars at this mega modern restaurant. I recommend everything on the menu -you cannot go wrong.

ade reservations during Restaurant Week for Friday, called to confirm, but the reservation had been lost. The host, however, was extremely apologetic and was able to accommodate us that evening. He also was able to arrange for a vegetarian entree, which was not on the RW menu, and informed the waitress prior to our being seated. Our waitress seemed less than happy about the prix fixe dinner choices and at one point said, Do you really need to hear the specials? As if her brusque attitude combined with her complete disinterest in our table wasnt enough, the vegetarian in our party was horrified when he bit into a seafood filled ravioli. Without and apology from our mirthless server, the plate was quickly whisked away. The food here was mediocre at best, however, I can highly recommend the Roasted Red Beet Salad as well as any of the desserts we sampled.

You won't have a bad experience at Remi but you aren't going to be swept off your feet and recommending it to everyone you meet on the street. Remi was nicely decorated, clean, and staff was friendly. Staff had very little knowledge about wine, food was nicely prepared but flavor was average for this level of restaurant. The special that night was Venison with a Raspberry sauce which I do recommend and the Planeta wine from Sicily ($76) was delicious. I would give it 7 out of 10 stars overall. If you can't get in at one of the more popular restaurants I would give Remi a try, otherwise if you walk on by you won't be missing anything unique.

Cons: unknowledgeable staff, tasty but avg. food, food selection

Remi has great food minus the bass. The warm goat cheese beet salad was out of the world! The creme brulee is extra thick and the tuna cavaoli was great! The ambience is superb for a date; soft lighting, pretty linen, spacious layout. The waitress was very nice as well! The wine guy had a bit of an attitude, but overall it was very good. The foood is pretty pricey, but is def. worth a visit. The chef also takes extra care into presenting the dish in a pretty manner. I will definitely go back again!

i went on my birthday with a party of 6 and was seated promptly when my party arrived. given the wine list almost immediately, we picked out a very nice livio felluga merlot and ordered from the prix-fix menu. it had a nice varied selection and one of us ordered an additional crab cakes. the food was above average to very good, depending on varied tastes. one complained the beef filet had a bit too much cheese. the entrees were very good and tasted great. the deserts were good as well, having the creme brulee. overall, a nice place to dine and most were satisfied. if you have picky tastes, this might not be the best place, but for most, a good choice for a night out.

This is a great place, especially so during Restaurant Week. The food was excellent, yet a few problems marred our experience: we received the wrong appetizers and felt rushed at the beginning of the meal in ordering drinks and wine; the prix-fixe desserts were added accidentally as a la carte choices. Both were remedied fairly quickly, but I expected better from what was usually careful suervice. Also, if I had not asked for the prix-fixe menu, it would not have been offered. These minor issues were more than offset by the fine food.

MUCH RESEARCH FOR THE PERFECT SETTING FOR OUR CELEBRATION. CHOSE REMI'S BASED ON USER & EDITORIAL RATINGS ON MANY SITES. 8 OF 9 IN OUR PARTY WERE DISAPPOINTED. APPETIZERS WERE TASTELESS. FOOD, ON THE WHOLE, WAS FAIR TO AVERAGE. MY ENTREE WAS OUTSTANDING, OTHERS IN OUR PARTY WERE NOT IMPRESSED. MOST DISAPPOINTING WAS THE SERVICE. OUR WAITRESS HAD THE PERSONALITY OF A STOP SIGN, AND SEEMED QUITE ANNOYED TO BE WORKING THAT NIGHT. WE PURPOSLY ORDERED THE WINE WELL BEFORE DINNER TO ALLOW FOR BREATH TIME. SHE NEGLECTED TO UNCORK, AND WE ACTUALLY HAD TO REMIND HER TO GET GOING ON THE WINE! WE HAD TO PLEAD TO ORDER OUR AFTER DINNER DRINKS AND COFFEE TO ARRIVE WITH OUR DESSERT. I COULD GO ON. THE BOTTOM LINE IS IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A PLACE WITH SOME CLASS FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION, DON'T CHOOSE REMI'S. IT'S REALLY JUST AVERAGE.

We were a party of 10 women who made reservations well in advance of our date. We were early and could not be seated so we went across the street to th Sheraton Hotel . When we were seated we were escorted to the rear of the restaurant to a table by a serving station and the kitchen doors. The restaurant was very cold as was the temperature outside. The pre -fixed menue was interesting with many choses in each category . The food was excellent and the portions werefairly generous. The service was very good and the value was excellent considering the quality of the food .

The menu sounds better than the food tasted. It was nothing to brag about. The desserts weren't worth the calories. The architecture of the restaurant itself was beautiful though.

For a casually elegant midtown meal, Remi is on the short list of stellar options. The beautiful, Adam Tihany-designed space is warm and inviting, and the staff operates like a well-rehearsed Broadway troupe--professional, seamless, efficient. One notable member, the charming sommelier, will treat you exceedingly well, whether you splurge on a pricey vintage, or limit yourself to one glass. And the Venetian food is consistently superb: any seafood risotto special is a must-try; it's even better than any I've ever had in Venice itself. All pastas and risotti can be ordered as 1/2 portions--which means you'll still have room for the delectable entrees, such as a succulent roast chicken and the best rabbit in town. If you're a regular, you might even get a complimentary cookie platter the size of a gondola.

Good food, prompt service. Perfect setting for a relaxing evening. Try the scallops, you won't be disappointed. The best part was the fact that they don't rush you through your meal, even when they are packed.

Honestly, I am not a big fan of dining in Midtown. The restaurants always have mediocre food and the atmosphere, well, is very blah. Remi is a great place for italian food before or after a show. The placed is not filled with tourists and buisness men. Try the risotto.

We loved the service and food at Remi. They have a great $30 prix fixe dinner with a good number of choices. However, both times we went there for dinner, they failed to include the prix fixe menu. We had to ask for it. We think they do not want you to order from it because it is a very good deal. The wait staff does not even mention the possibility to any of the diners. This was our only complaint about this great restaurant.
