OK TO THE FIRST PERSON WHO COMMENTED ABOUT HOW BOTH HAD TO BE OWNED BY THE SAME PERSON ... THEY WEREN'T... THE PEOPLE WERE IN THE SAME FAMILY... BUT UNCLE GIO IS REALLY UNCLE GIO (REAL PERSON) HIS NEPHEWS ON THE OTHER HAND CAME UP WITH THE MONEY AND RAN THE HARDING PLACE RESTAURANT... TECHNICALLY THEY OWNED IT. AND UNCLE GIO HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT... BUT UNCLE GIO WAS SUCH A GOOD PERSON THAT HE OFTEN WAS TOO NICE TO HIS FAMILY AND COME TO FIND OUT ... HIS BAD NEPHEWS HAD BEEN STEALING MONEY FROM CUSTOMERS AT THE HARDING PLACE RESTAURANT ... AND THEREFORE UNCLE GIO LOST BUSINESS AND HAD TO SHUT DOWN ... AND IN LEUI OF RISKING THAT HIS CUSTOMERS WOULD FIND OUT AND PUT HIM UNDER. THE OLD UNCLE GIO'S WILL NOW BE THIS DELI PLACE. I HOPE THIS HASN'T CHANGED YOUR OPINION B/C THEY WERE ALL HOME MADE RECIPES AND UNCLE GIO IS A STAND UP MAN!

When they had the place at Nolensville and Harding where the old Shoney's used to be. They did have some problems there, but I never could understand why they shut the doors. Several of us ate there at least 3 times a week. The spagetti was sometimes over cooked but not always, and when they got the hand made pizza it was out of this world. The servers we always had were great and would apologize if something wasn't out or right.

We tried the one further out on Nolensville Rd a couple of times and would have gone back but several weeks ago we happened to stop in only to find that they were under rentavation or so we thought. So we went back by only to find that the phone had been cut off and noone seems to know what happened to them. Being Italian and also being from up North I found it to be very good. I guess if they don't reopen I'll have to start going back over to Ceasar's on White Bridge Rd, which isn't to close this was very close for me since I live in the South Nashville area. I hate they went out of business but wish someone would open up another Italian Resturant somewhere on Nolensville Rd there are too many Mexican Resturants in the South Nashville area. We need a little more to choose from. Hope they open up somewhere else cause I will return. Deborah

Pros: Best Italian sauce

Cons: not enough ample parking at the one close to Nolensville, Tn

terrible food.........maybe in New York Hungry but not Nashville. The worst service, the poorest quality food, bad advertising, misleading....resturant is now shut under the premise of renovation yet is less than 2 years old...my guess is their bad rep caught up with them....food is overpriced, over cooked, tasteless, too salty, bad tomato sauce........if there were a lower score than one star, they would deserve it.......

I visited Uncle Gio's for the first time last week on a Wed night. The waiter was very friendly. Complimetary bread was served and the food wait was average. We got the Sicillian Pizza and thought it was huge and delicious. There was plenty leftover after we were done too. The price was great for the amount of food we got and the taste. I would definitely go back again.

Thinking this would be authentic pizza and a fun new place to try, my husband and I took our kids for Friday night pizza. After looking over the menu and deciding on the pizza we wanted, the waiter kindly (couldn't he have told us before we sat down??) that pizza would take over one hour to be served. Wasn't this a pizza place? He said that due to delivery orders and people already in the restaurant, there was no way they could get the pizza to us any sooner. Imagine explaining that to our two hungry kids! We left and will not go back. If they can't handle the pizza orders, either hire some more cooks or install some more ovens! Or at least advertise correctly...we won't go back. Sorry Gio.

I believe the comments by unclegiosmgmt on 1/3/08 are a bit misleading. He refers to the other location as having different management and a different location. However, the two entities are obviously owned by
the same family. A Tennessean article on 10/24/07 is headlined "Uncle Gio's opens second location", and makes it clear that they are owned by the same family. They may have built a corporate firewall between the two restaurants to protect themselves, but it is dishonest to pretend that they have no connection whatsoever with the second location. I also just noticed a fraudulent charge on my statement. It would be smart for "unclegiosmgmt" to do the right thing before their name is permanently ruined. I would have considered going to their remaining location, but not now.

Statement from Uncle Gio's Management: The Uncle Gio's location at 6448 Nolensville Road is not the same Uncle Gio's that was at 401 Harding Place and called Uncle's Gio's Italian Buffet. That location is closed and was under different management and was a separate corporation from Uncle Gio's at 6448 Nolensville Road. We have a few calls in regards to credit card charges from that business and have explained this to the callers, and as per credit card company regulations referred them back to their credit card companies to seek further action. We have never turned away a customer from our location at 6448 Nolensville Road that has been overcharged or double charged. We believe the comment posted by Hankhound is not only inaccurate, but slanderous towards our business as we have not had ANY recent credit card issues at the 6448 Nolensville Road location. Additionally, we have not turned anyone away for credit card issues at this location. We encourage anyone to always ask for a manager if you have any questions or concerns and we will be happy to assist.

Nashville has some great restaurants! My friend told me about this place right before Nolensville, called Uncle Gio's....I went and all I can say is unbelievable! The food was incredible and the service was on point. The manager stopped by my table, and I talked to him for a little bit. Uncle Gio and his family run the place, so they make sure that everything is up to thier familys standards! I had the baked penne and sauteed calamari. It was the best calamari I have ever had! I told my mom about this place and she went on my dad's birthday. The server made a beautiful desert and they even sang Happy Birthday in Italian! Great job guys! I hope you stick around for a long long time!

Cons: parking

Coming here from Atlanta (originally from NY) we had tried several Italian restaurants in Nashville including Amerigo's, Demos, Mafioso's...pretty mediocre.

We've eaten at Uncle Gio's several times in the last few months.....the food is always great (it's all about the sauce) and the pizza and calzones are the best in town. Vibe wise, it has that family Little Italy charm - there really is an Uncle Gio
.
We know fresh cooked food takes time......it's true when it's busy it may take a while, but have a glass of vino and relax....it will be worth the wait. We'll be regulars.

I don't get it. The place was busy, yet everybody was complaining. The pastas we had were very expensive, not very good and slower coming than the next ice age. The staff is more into over selling booze and wine than taking care of us poor pasta eaters. The management didn't visit us, we just got apathetic lip service from our server. For the prices I?ll go downtown and eat at Amerigo?s or Valentino?s or anywhere that puts it on the plate not just in their pockets. Gas isn?t so expensive that we have to deal with this.

We have been customers of Uncle Gio's since they first opened. Service and wait times were definitely an issue when they first opened the doors -- at one point, the service was so slow we vowed never to return. However, the pizza simply cannot be matched and so we toughed it out. I'm happy to say that over the past six months or so, the service has vastly improved, as has the speed of the kitchen. Be sure to try the sangria.

I ate at Uncle Gio's tonight and it was really awesome! I was in no mood to cook because of the storm and just wanted to get out! I walked in to Uncle Gio's and was immediatly greeted with a smile and welcomed into the establishment. i sat in the corner booth and was helped by an awesome waitress! She susggested the Chicken Marsala and it was awesome! The restaurant has a heart and a family feel to it! Not only will I be back, I will tell all of my friends and family that this is the place to eat in Nashville! Great Job Guys!

As with many many of these reviews, I must attest that the service at Uncle Gio's is truly terrible. I do not believe the food is worth being treated the way in which we were treated. Restaurants must learn the hard way that both the quality of the food and the professionalism of the staff translate to a successful dining experience. Uncle Gio's is severely lacking on the latter. I will never return. Furthermore, I will recommend that my friends and family avoid this business.

My wife and I have been regulars nearly every week since they opened two years ago. Ungle Gio (YES, there really is an Uncle Gio) is one of the best!! HIs nephews are the ones running the place. They're young and had their struggles adapting to the responsibilities but HEY! Gio saw some trouble areas and has fixed them. He hired more family and took them out of the restaurant business in Las Vegas who know how to run a tight ship. So, now, we enjoy the greatest Italian food in Tennessee with a fun, family atmosphere. I'm in the music businees and I bring my clients thereall the time. Now, they bring their friends and family, as well. The food is as close to Italy as we could find, especially the Margherita Pizza, which is as close to what we had in Italy than anywhere! It's a place that is not interested in "flipping tables". We've enjoyed our meals, sat and visited with the staff, drank a bit, enjoyed a cigar on their outdoor patio and visited some more, never feeling like we need to leave so that they could have the table. This is also just like Italy. Over thepast two years, two of my kids have worked there and his family has become an extension of our family. We are so glad that they are here!!!

Why can't this place get it together?? It's been 2 years and we have yet to have good service! I really hope they do, because the food really is good and I would hate to see it fail because of the service. Sorry.

You know, I am a regular at Uncle Gio's and I come to this website all the
time and I am starting to get ticked off at some of the comments that these
people are leaving. I go in there at least 2 times a week, and have seen HUGE
changes over the past couple month. Uncle Gio is doing an awesome job and by the way
the service keeps getting better and better, so are his employees! i have always
had great service! If the resturaunt is full, what makes you think that you are going to get homemade
food in 20 minutes? For the great food that Uncle Gio's is putting out there, I
think it is worth the wait. Not only do I feel that way, it also says so at the
bottom of the menu :) If I wanted quick "italian" food, I would go to the Olive Garden, lol.

All in All...I think that people are just looking for an excuse to complain.
This resturaunt has the best italian food in Nashville, it is in a great spot
and it is owned an operated by people who care!

We are from the northeast and have parents who own an Italian restaurant up there. Uncle Gio has a REAL Italian menu! We have given this restaurant many, many chances to get their service right but for some reason they can't. And it's really too bad because he's gotten the food perfect and the setting ideally located (for us) in Brentwood and from Nolensville. The servers and the staff answering the phone don't know how to wait on people, what their menu includes, and have no idea how to take reservations for big parties and get them in on time. When they first opened they had trouble with the air conditioning, but ever since it's been a staff problem. Our neighbors and our friends and everyone we know has said this same thing................We LOVE the food......please GET YOUR STAFF RIGHT!!!! Your business could be doing so much better. Please don't make us talk my in-laws into moving down here to open up their restaurant! You and your nephews seem to be nice, hard working businessmen.......GET EMPLOYEES WHO AREN'T IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!

They serve very generous servings with enough to take home. Atmosphere is set with upscale music, yet a fine dining restaurant with a casual atmosphere. Oh yes, the patio, a great place for all kinds of gatherings. By the way, Uncle Gio doesn't believe in that chafing dish assembly, but wants to cook all his food fresh and to the table. The herbs and spices used in the bolognase sauce is delightful--not too spicy, but yet just right. You can tell he makes the real authentic tomato sauce this is think and hearty and wonderfully homemade. What more could anyone ask for, even live music on the weekends. I have been so impressed that I am taking a large group of single adults there for dinner and music under the stars.
What is even better, should your event get rained out, he now has a second location not too far away and using the banquet room there is definitely an alternative to now cancel an event. You definitely feel like you stepped right into an authentic Italian village where the restaurants are so quaint. You know this place is in good hands with a number of his 14 nephews who have their hands tossing those pizzas. What more can you ask for in a restaurant but the family run business who takes pride in what they do.

Uncle Gio's was recommended to us by our best friends. My wife and I head to Nolensville from Nashville in search of the great Italian food that was described to us by our friends. We were told to ask for Antonio and make sure he was cooking. Antonio was off that evening and should never take off again. The food was horrible. Nothing particular stood out, but it was no good. It was luke warm and soggy. The sauce was a little watery and the meatballs were bland. Also our bartender was very arrogant and was to busy oggling at my wife and several other female patrons to get our drink order right while we waited to be sat. Not usually one to write reviews, expecially negative ones. ATTN: Uncle Gio your restaurant has tremendous potential!!!! Fix it. We told our friends about our experience and lack of Antonio and they advised us to try it again and to be certain Antonio was there next time. WE'll consider it and write another review if we chose to try again.

Very Disapointed,

This was my second outing to Uncle Gio's and boy was I impressed! This restaurant as made hug changes and it shows! The last time that I was there, the restaurant was still new and still learning and growing. Tonight, it was awesome! The service was excellent and so was the food! My husband and I were blown away by how great everything was! Now, don?t get me wrong, there is always a way to make yourself and your business better, but way to go Uncle Gio for stepping up to the plate and hitting one out of the park! I will definitely be back and have already called our friends to encourage them to try it to! I am going to go back on Saturday for some food and entertainment, hope to see you all there! CIAO!

Normally I am not one to sit in front of my computer and write a review on a place....but I have to after my visit to Uncle Gio's. My girl and I couldn?t figure out a place to eat, so we looked up Italian restaurants in Nashville and we found Uncle Gio's. We were debating the drive since we live in La Vergne, but thought hey, what the heck. We went on Saturday night and had an awesome experience. The food was great, the service was awesome and the Manager was way helpful. He checked on us numerous times and so did the servers! We love Italian food and we not disappointed by Uncle Gio's! We had the special of the day which was a medley of veggies in some marinara sauce over pasta and it was to die for! The manager said that the chef's create new specials every weekend and I can?t wait to try the next one! Two thumbs up...WAY UP for Uncle Gio's! Go....Eat.....Have fun!

What a great little place! My husband and I have lived in the Nashville area for about 4 years now and have searched all over for a restaurant like Uncle Gio?s. We went in on a Friday night, and the place was packed! We were immediately greeted by one of the hostesses and about 10 minutes later, we had a table and were ready to eat! Our waiter was really from Italy!!! He recommended some dishes to us, and we went with his choices. Usually, I only get chicken parm because I don?t like to experiment, but I did lol. My husband and I went with the Fruti Di Mare for two and boy was it good! The sauce was perfect and the seafood was awesome! We ended our evening with a piece of cheesecake that was better than my mothers! Uncle Gio?s brought Italy to Tennessee and thank God for that! The next time we go I hope I get to meet Uncle Gio and tell him how wonderful his establishment is!

My husband and I visited Uncle Gio's on a Friday night and only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. However, we then had to wait about 40 minutes to get our food. And it wasn't that great. Our server said they have 5 cooks in the kitchen, and they make everything fresh. I say hire a few more cooks and prepare some things in advance...it would've tasted the same, in my opinion.

Pros: Convenient location, nice interior

Cons: Not a lot of waiting room, long wait on food

Uncle Gio's in right where Brentwood, Antioch, Cane Ridge, Nashville and Nolesnville all come together. They offer a large menu, a friendly and helpful wait staff and some of the best food you will ever eat. The prices on the pasta dishes may seem a bit high, but you will take leftovers home! The pizza is hi t or miss. When they are busy, sometimes the pizza can get on the soupy side, but the flavor...oh the flavor! They are a small restaurant, so on a busy night you can expect to wait at least 40 minutes to be seated. The food takes a while, but everyhing is hand made when it was ordered..and oo la la it is perfection! Uncle Gio's will also shut their doors for private parties...which you can enjoy birthdays or weddings family style and if there is dancing....you better believe it that Uncle Gio and his family will be out there dancing with you too!

THE BEST ITALIAN FOOD IN TOWN!

We were in the area performing our new single for a wedding a couple saturday's ago and Uncle Gio's was the first Italian Place in sight. We thought we were just going to stop in but we sat down, had a Perone beer and some of the house wine (red). It was the best tasting alcohal around to start with- (I call it the feel good happy wine). The entertainment was of a "record contract waiting to happen" caliber and the food is the real deal. These italian's know what they are doing with food! If you haven't visited Uncle Gio's on a Saturday night you are missing out.

We took a good friend of ours there for their birthday and I wish we would not have... It was the WORST service ever. The table beside us had came and gone before we ever got our food... They even noticed how bad our service was and offered us some bread that was giving to them. Our waiter did not even offer us bread and we kept asking for our food, drinks, and checks!!! Uncle Gios would be disappointed if he knew how that place was being ran... The staff that walks around wearing there sunglasses because they think it is cool when it looks very trashy...

This was by far the worst experience of my life. I have never seen a more unprofessional environment. The "manager" Reid pranced around the restaurant as if he was 10 years old. The servers had better things to do than serve us; they were all communing in front of the soda machine. If the manager had been doing his job, in a professional manner, his employees would have been working in his presence, rather than having him join them in childish games. The chef's looked as if they hadn?t showered in weeks and the hostess was more concerned with how she looked than how hungry we were. It was a half hour to get seated, and by the time we got service, it was an hour. The waiter proceeded to tell us how unorganized the restaurant was and began to laugh. How is this place still open?

How can a place like this operate? I will tell you. There is no competition for them. So they have us all by the zappos. I will never go there again. I have placed complaints with the Better Business Bure@u and the health district about this place. They assured me that they are checking into it and if there is a God, they will go out of business!

We shouldn?t award them with our hard earned money, when they are hardly working to deserve it!

DO NOT EAT HERE! TELL EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY!

I had a suprise party for my husband's 30th birthday in Uncle Gio's reserved room & it was fabulous!! We had 20 people & Uncle Gio's took great care of us. It was dimly lit with candles & the bar was the perfect touch. The pizzas were great--sicilan is our favorite. The bartender was wonderful with the guest s& the server was the best. I would recommend Uncle Gio's for a small, intimate party anytime!!! Fantastic job!!

I'm not one to write online reviews normally, but I felt compelled to write one due to a few reviews that I heard about on this website for this restaurant. In my opinion, they are completely unfair and inaccurate. It's easy for someone who obviously has something against either a restaurant, or someone who works there to create a faceless identity(ies) on here and bash a really good place. And I know people are way too smart to believe everything they read. But, there is probably a small percentage of people who actually base their decision on whether to try out a restaurant on the layman reviews that appear on websites. So, I just wanted to let anyone that might be reading this know that I have no more credentials as a food critic than anyone else who has posted on here. I am just an average Joe who has eaten at this restaurant and enjoyed my food. I'm not naive enough to think that I never will have a problem at a restaurant or won't get a bad server or slow service, these things happen anywhere. However, I feel that I am responsible enough to let a manager know when it happens, instead of writing anonymous reviews to try and deter business from a good place. I also know that Uncle Gio's will continue to get my business and I will continue to recommend them to my friends and family.

Normally, I wouldn?t intentionally subject myself to a repeat of the kind of experience I had at Uncle Gio?s but their proximity to my home and the absence of other decent restaurants in the area prompted my boyfriend and I to give them a second chance. The second time was just as bad, if not worse than the first. Both times, the service was horrible. The servers complained about each other to us, failed to refill our drinks, and left us waiting about 15 minutes after we finished eating to bring the check. Even still, I could overlook bad service for decent food but we had no such luck. On both occasions the crust on our pizza was beyond soggy. The ?roasted? peppers were mushy as well and it was clear there wasn?t a fresh ingredient to be found in the place. To say it was a disappointment would be an understatement. The food was just plain bad.

I am not one who generally complains to management about issues like this, I just prefer not to bring my business back the establishment. Besides, since the manager was out in the dining room talking with guests and drinking, I wouldn?t have wanted to interrupt his good time.

Cons: bad service, horrible food, waste of a great location

Living on the outskirts of Brentwood we were delighted to hear of a family-run pizza place. However, after several attempts with Uncle Gio's we will no longer even consider this place again. We ordered pizza from them 2 times for pick-up. Both times we were unsatisfied with the pizza (soggy, undercooked, and not ready when we got there). We gave them one last try tonight since we are desperate for good pizza out here on Concord road. Here's what happened:
Called at 5:00 to order using their new advertised "delivery" service. At 6:10, no pizza yet so called to check. Hmmm, the "sweet" hostess said the guy was just leaving and it should be there soon. We were not happy. Gave another 1/2 hour, no pizza. Called and asked to speak to a manager and the hostess claimed he was not there. Hard to believe that could be true on a busy Friday night! Then the unapologetic hostess said the guy left and our pizza was still there!! This was an hour and 45 minutes after ordering!!!! We told her we would not be back and to cancel. She actually said, "Well, it's here, you can come get it". Ha. We are now waiting for our Papa John's pizza. Do not waste your time or money at Uncle Gio's. Even though it looks nice, it's not worth it.

Cons: everything (service, service, service, food, parking and price)

My husband and I have been living in Brentwood 6 months having moved from northern New Jersey. We have been missing "real" Italian food and were extremely excited when we saw Uncle Gio's. Please... everyone...don't make the mistake of letting the full parking lot fool you...the food is the worst and expense to boot. The quality of the ingredients is poor and no one in that kitchen is a chef....We also waited over 30 minutes to receive our horrible meal.
My husband had spaghetti and meatballs and I had eggplant parm....Well, the pasta was mushy and overcooked and the meatballs were very bland. The eggplant parm. was thin slices of eggplant that were deep fried and 5 of these strips of shoes leather were placed on top of a cold plate of spagetti. I told the waitress she made a mistake with my order and she went back to the kitchen. About 5 minutes later she return and told me that the kichen staff said that was the way they made their eggplant parm. I said to the waitress I never saw this entree made like this in my life...
"Where is the tomato sauce layered with ricotta cheese and mozzerella cheese?". The waitress said she never saw it made the Uncle Gio's way either.
There are other resturants that have recently opened in this area of town that you can go to and have a very good meal. Don't get yourself aggravated by going to Uncle Gio's.

My wife and I ate at Uncle Gio's last Saturday night. I must tell you that I was a little hesitant though. I'm Italian from New York, and finding a good Italian restaurant in Tennessee is like looking for Yankees fans at the Grand Ole Opry.

We were very surprised however to find this restaurant just outside of Nashville. They were very busy when we arrived and parking was a little scarce, but we waited patiently and got seated in a reasonable amount of time. The ambiance was very nice and romantic. We chatted over some garlic bread, mozzerella wedges and wine. The waiter was very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in making sure we had a good experience. We had the feeling that the restaurant was very homelike and family run. The menu had pretty much everything we would expect to see. I ended up ordering the Linguini w/ clam sauce and my wife ordered Veal Parmagian. The food was cooked perfectly and the portions were enormous! We could only get through about half of our dinners and had to take home the rest. Normally we do dessert but we were too full this time. We will pace ourselves better next time. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to be enjoying their evening and we certainly did too.

I read that Uncle Gio's is fairly new and read some mixed reviews. It seems to me though that anyone that gave them an unfavorable review probably wouldn't have been satisfied unless they got a free meal. I would've scored them a 10, but I always feel there is room for improvement. With time, I think they will improve like the fine wines they serve. We honestly didn't see anything that would keep us from coming back. In fact, when my family comes in town from New York I'm bringing them here! They will feel right at home.

Grazie Uncle Gio!!!

Pros: Great service, very friendly. Food is terrific. Great location.

Cons: Gets very busy during the weekends. Would like to see a bar or liquor menu.

My family & I went there on a Sunday evening. We were one of the first at the restaurant and waited over an hour for our food. I ordered the stromboli, which was still doughy and undercooked on the inside. The sauce provided to me for dipping my stromboli in was straight tomato sauce from a can. My husband ordered the veal parmsean and the veal was paper thin. To top it all off, the parmasean cheese on the table contained in a glass shaker was molded at the bottom, which really turned me off. After I brought it to the waitress's attention she instructed an employee to pull all of the shakers from the tables and check for mold. Our bill was over around $50.00 for all three of us. They even charged us for butter used on my child's pasta. I could have gotten a much better quality meal at Fazoli's and paid half the price. Warning - do not waste your time at this restaurant, you would be better off eating Chef Boy Ardee SpaghettiO's from a can.

We had a wonderful experience last night and we had 6 of us and we all loved the food. The key to this restaurant is to go early so you don't mind the wait . If you go late on a thurs, friday or saturday there will be a wait so I would not recommend you go at that time with children. We met Uncle Gio and his nephew and they were very nice and wanted to make sure we enjoyed everything. It was a wonderful experience, the food is cook when you order so don't be alarmed when you have to wait because it's really worth it.

After months of anticipation for a restaurant to come to this location, I found my expectations completely destroyed through the experience of eating at Uncle Gio?s.

To start, poor parking and long wait. Yes, it was on a Friday night, so I?ll flex on this point. I?ll wait for an hour for good food, however there is really no good waiting area. This is especially true as customers come to pick up to-go items.

Once seated, the staff seamed very amateur. The atmosphere ? well there really wasn?t one. However, still hoping to have a great Italian meal, my wife and I began to gaze at the menu. We continued to look, make our choices and wait. After about 10 minutes, a waitress finally came to get our drink order. We asked only for sodas (no liquer and few wines) and they said our water classes would be quickly filled. It took about 5 minutes and me asking about our drinks for them to arrive and the water never even came.

After ordering, it still took very long to get our food. The portions were medium ? not too little, but not generous. We began eating. Both my wife and I were very hungry at this point from waiting two hours from having our names taken until we received our plates. As we ?dug in,? it was quite humorous as we both looked up after about three bites only to see the eyes of the other. We both had the same comment, ?we could have made better than this at home.?

Granted, Italian is our favorite food of choice, we have eaten it around the US and Italy. This tasted as if someone opened a can of store bought and pored over basic pasta. The price point for the food caused me to infer there would be a much higher quality.

We thought this was just our bad experience and planned to give them another try. However, after talking to many of our friends, they all have had similar experiences. Two have filed complaints and one requested their money back.

Don?t let you expectation get too high if you plan to eat here.

I absolutely love this place! I'm greeted with a warm smile, hug and kiss on the cheek everytime I go in. The staff is friendly and personable. Everything is cooked to perfection and the guy who makes the pizza--does it just like the places I went to when I was a kid--brings back so many memories. Service is a bit slow but no different than say going to the Palm, The Trace, or other Fufu places out on West End or Down Town. Knowing what true ethnic food is supposed to taste like--I truly enjoy this place--it's not commercialized like Buco de Bepo or to "poched-up" like Valentino's. This is good old family style Italian food. The wine selection is a bit small but then again--if you went to a family member's house--would you really have a large list to choose from? Uncle Gio and crew took the guess work out of what wine goes best with the meal. You can't go wrong with any one of them with any one of the meals. No liquor license but hard liquor or margarita's wouldn't go with the taste of the food--it's a wine place. The wine they do have is incredible. A bit pricey but if you think about it--you'll always go home with leftovers...so not too bad. It's definately a mom and pop place and they are still new to the business (at a year and a half). I've only been there once where they ran out of items but that was at no fault of theirs--delivery didn't make it in. I feel like family every time I go in--and being from up north--this place is a slice of home--now only if they could do Chicago-style deep dish--I'll know I'll went to heaven--either that or I might ask the pizza guy to marry me!

I absolutely love this place! I'm greeted with a warm smile, hug and kiss on the cheek everytime I go in. The staff is friendly and personable. Everything is cooked to perfection and the guy who makes the pizza--does it just like the places I went to when I was a kid--brings back so many memories. Pros: Service, quality of food, atmosphere, no reservations needed--unless on Fri or Sat from say 5-7pm

Cons: There can be tables open and no parking. Also people come in and pick up and there's no place for them so they wait up front, giving the illusion that the place is packed.

My boyfriend and I met my neighbor's there on multiple occasions, each time the service was very good and the food quality was excellent. They did run out of certain items and wine both times were were there. Uncle Gio's allows BYOB for only $10.00 corkage fee. I ordered spagetti with meat sauce it was great, my boyfriend had veal and it was cooked to prefection. Everyone enjoyed the food the owner is on site and is very friendly, they have a small courtyard that kinda gives a New orleans type feel to the restaurant. Great location in Nolensville to grab dinner and some wine. No liquor license
