Do not be fooled by the reviews underneath this one...the only thing good at this salad bar is the soups and the mac and cheese...so if you are 8 yrs old you are set. the salad bar options are WEAK and the TUNA SURPRISE leaves your stomach feeling extremely awkward and unsatisfied. The only thing that I returned to the buffet bar for was the STRAWBERRY LEMONADE....yum...but other than that I lost my appetite. The name of this restaurant should be changed to "Unripe Tomatoes". thats just my two cents

When I first saw Sweet Tomatoes I didn't know really what to expect, so I decided to go in and try it out. Mind you I was a big fan of Souper Salad at the time. Well, on my first dining experience there was someone at the door to greet me and tell how the whole process worked (this was impressive). Once I started fixing my salad, I realized that they have signs to let you know what the benefits are of eating the different ingredients used to make a salad (also a good thing). Lastly, Everything is spread out and continually replenished so that it is always fresh.

I have taken many friends to eat here and they loved it. So I would recommend this any day whether you just want a salad or in the mood for something different. If you check their website on the day you are going you can also get a copy of the menu for the day (it changes everyday). Don't forget to buy you some of their chocolate chip cookies they are baked fresh everyday and are just delicious.

I love this restaurant. I have introduced tons of people and they all love it too. Make sure you get their early or you will not find parking and if you park in the empty lot behind them you will be towed.

Sweet Tomatoes allows me to eat all the greens and veggies I want and lets my family have their loaded potatoes, breads, and soups. Everyone finds a way to get the veggies into their meal. Best of all -- I don't have to clear the dishes every time someone jumps up for more!

When I lived in San Diego I used to go to Souplantation. This was back in the eighties. I always had hoped that they would move east because of the quality of food I would always get there. Come to find out that they did move east and are now in several locations within the DFW area. They go by Sweet Tomatoes in this area, but it is indeed the same company. When I first found out about this my wife and I drove 40 miles one way to go to the one in Addison. It was just as good as I remembered. Obviously prices have changed since the eighties so I was surprised to be paying nearly $25 for two salads and two drinks, but it is all you can eat. I would reccommend getting on their email list and they send 2 for 1 deals that you can use throughout the week. The one place that comes close to this is SouperSalad. The price is less there, but the quality is not as good. If anyone knows a better place I would like to know.

great salad bar, soup selection and bakery items. staff is friendly and location is spotless.

they need to build more in the north dallas suburbs as it is always packed!

A tip for first-timers---pace yourself! Don't be tempted to load up on all those gorgeous greens and tantalizing tidbits as you walk the entry salad bar. You can always go back for more.
Besides, there are those scrumptous soups---a whole soup bar full of 'em and they change and rotate the kinds of soups served all the time---so much so that my all-time favorite, the cream of tomato soup, isn't available as often as I would like to enjoy it. Pace yourself there, too, taking smaller portions so you can sample two or three at a time.
Be creative! mix 'n match the different bars. I enjoy mixing the hot, sauteed veggies (a daily offering at the hot bar) with nuts, cheeses (the cheese gets all melty) and olive oil from the salad bar.
But that's not all! The selection of tempting teas is unmatched at any other lunch spot I've visited and as an added bonus they actually offer caffeine-free diet cola (really!), an impossible dream at most eateries around town.
But now for the dark side of this fair and balanced review. The dessert bar is a bit ho-hum (thank goodness). Oh sure, they have fresh fruit---but I consider that part of a well-structured salad, not dessert---and, um, that tasty tapioca---but if you've wisely and systematically sampled the all the real food, you can shun that and the ubiquitous frozen custard, cookie crumbles, multi-colored sprinkles, gooey toppings...uh they do have larger bowls (use the soup bowls!).
Oh, and as a previous reviewer mentioned, the parking lot tends to fill up at the peak lunch hour, but just a short walk to the north is an open parking lot---at least until they build something there---just don't park in the immediate neighbors' lots.

By the time you reach the end of the l-o-n-g salad bar, your plate is piled so high with an array of fresh and crisp salad fixin's it's about to topple over! Then you realize there are more delectible selections awaiting. Oh the choices! And all for one very reasonable price. Can't wait to return.

Have the best fresh fruits and vegetables for salads anywhere! Started going to the parent company in Pasadena, Ca. 18 years ago and it is still the best in the USA! Staff is very helpful, on their toes and pleasant at all times. All items are replaced when getting low--not when they have run out. Everything is cold and well iced for freshness. Sometimes hot chocolate chip cookies are passed around!! A yum-yum treat! It is a bargain when baked potato bar, breads, desserts are included and you can go back!! Just can't say anything I'd change except children spilling on the floor and running back for more--but that's the parents' fault, not theirs!
A+++++++++++++++++

I go there 2-3 times a week and have introduced it to my friends, family, and co-workers. They were all amazed at how fresh and tasty their salads are always prepared. They now go very often and are dedicated Sweet Tomatoe goers. Word-of-mouth is the best recommendation any restaurant can inspire.

Their menus are always changing and fun to look forward too.
I hear they're going to add more organic and healthier foods to differentiate themselves more from SouperSalad.

They are great!

Best salad bar around! The service is beyond satisfactory. The strawberry lemonade is to die for. I love the coupons, too! It is nice to get a "deal" on lunch!! The bar is always fresh and packed with everything you need to build the best salad in town! The brownie muffins are the best....I think they even might be good for you. The soups are wonderful. The pasta and the potato bar are great! I can't quit going to the SWEET TOMATOES......I try, but I always end up there for lunch. It's too good!!!

With a name like Sweet Tomatoes one would expect tomatoes to be in everything, however tomatoes are only a small fraction of their foods. Sweet Tomatoes is like Souper Salads except it's cleaner, fresher, and has a slight hippie atmosphere. For $13 you can get access to their giant array of buffet-style veggies, protiens and carbohydrates. The salad bar is the largest of their tables, offering the old salad standbys such as spinach, carrots, onions, and broccoli. However they have several other uncommon salad additions such as beets, radishes, beans, corn, and fried noodles. If you don't feel like making your own salad there are several prepared salads. I liked Joan's Broccoli Madness and the wild rice & chicken. They also have three kinds of pasta, four kinds of soups, six kinds of breads, and a do-it-yourself baked potato. All of that was good except the macaroni & cheese, which was mediocre. For dessert there are fruits, multiple chocolate treats, and soft-serve frozen yogurt. Unlike many other buffet soft-serve treats, this is actually real frozen yogurt. The bathrooms are kept clean, and 80's popular music is pumped into the speakers. There's a greeter at the entrance. They're friendly. The cashiers are friendly. There are people there who look over groups of tables, refilling drinks, and clearing dirty plates. They're friendly too. So I think whatever your tastes are, you will find something you like here.
