I have been a client for over 6 years but no more! The level of care has gone down while the prices are through the roof! They charge outrageous amounts of money for their services that I have now found are very much out of line with other clinics in the area. That would be tolerable if I thought that my dogs were receiving the best of care. My experience has been that they are more interested in 'churning' billable procedures than they are in giving the best care, and I agree that their staff is disinterested, rude, and evasive when you try to get someone to give you a straight answer on a charge on a bill. I took my dog for an annual check up where additional tests were recommended to diagnose a new heart murmur. After looking more closely at my huge bill later when I got home, I found a $40 charge TO CHECK A BLOOD PRESSURE! When I called back to the clinic for an explanation, all I got was 'so-and-so will call you back'. After playing phone tag for over a week to speak with someone with the authority to tell me why they were charging me that, I finally gave up. ( which I think was their plan in the first place!) DONT TAKE YOUR PETS NEAR THIS PLACE!

Took our dog black lab to see Dr. Hutmaker!.. Our dog was experiencing a serious imbalance problem, the poor girl kept literally flipping over. As medical situations go, this is not an easy one to cure because it basically has to settle itself out. HOWEVER Dr. H and the team at Steele Creek suggested accupunture. The results were amazing and the dog really liked the experience....I'm not kidding. We had to wheel the poor girl in because she could not come in on her own power............she walked out after the treatment (OK, like a drunk but walking). We did two additional treatments with great results. Today she is doing great. It is true what is listed in the other post as it relates to the cost for care here. That is why they did not recieve 5 stars.

We have been going to Steele Creek animal Hospital for 8 years and have always gotten the best care for my cat and dog. It is so convenient that you can drop the animals off and pick them up at a time convenient for you.

I agree with the previous review except for the fact that each time I take my dog, the bill seems to be conveniently over $300.00. Last fall I asked that two presriptions be refilled, the medice had worked and I had run out. I was told the doctor couldn't re-prescribe without another examination...quite probably another $300.00. I came away with the impression that this place is in it for only the money. By the way, the medicine was not a critical one, in other words, no harm would have been done had it been incorrect. I would never take my dog back.

My fiance and I just moved here and Steele Creek Animal Hospital is right down the street from our new home. I took my than 5 month old Boston to Dr. Jo and was very unhappy. She used medical terms that I didn't understand and I felt that she did unecessary tests on him to pump up my bill. Every time I see her my bill is over $250. I will never take him back to her again!

Message from Steele Creek Animal Hospital

Located in beautiful Southwest NC, Steele Creek Animal Hospital was founded by Charlotte native Dr. Patricia Young in 1985. Our facility has been committed to providing pets in the Charlotte, Fort Mill, Clover, Lake Wylie, Gastonia, and York County, South Carolina communities with the finest in veterinary care since the day we opened. We provide care for dogs and cats, as well as rabbits, ferrets, and pocket pets. Our Companion Animal Rehabilitation Center provides specialized care for pets recovering from neurologic or orthopedic injuries and/or surgery. This innovative care is also helpful for pets dealing with age-related mobility concerns. This service is available for pets outside our practice through referral from their primary care veterinarian or specialist. Because of our continued commitment to quality pet care, pet owners have come to rely on us as a compassionate, skilled and cost-conscious partner in the care of their beloved companions. When your pet receives proper veterinary care, he or she has the best chance of living a long and happy life. We are also diligent about promoting client education and responsible pet ownership. We work closely with you to understand your pet's unique health needs and to develop a preventive care plan that best meets those needs. Providing the highest-quality veterinary care means keeping you, our clients, at the center of all we do. After all, we are pet owners ourselves and understand how important it is to be received and treated by a staff that is knowledgeable, welcoming, and courteous. It is our goal not just to ensure the health and well-being of your pet but to be your partner in strengthening the bond you both share.
