De Santos

★★★★☆
A unique experiment in marrying a dance club to a restaurant, De Santos is fueled by the musical passions of the Cuban-Colombian drummer who's partly responsible for its existence, but the menu is extensively Italian.

This horrific "so called" restaurant deserves a negative star. Never before in NYC have I ever seen a rat in the back yard garden of a establishment that serves food.!!!! We were sitting outside and another patron was so drunk and loud

In all the years Ive been living in New York, Ive never been so disrespected and experienced so much lack of professionalism from an establishment like this. Despite having a reservation, we were made to wait almost an hour, ignored,

The food at this restaurant is passable at best. Steak was overcooked, pasta was overcooked. A waiter spilled wine on us and we didn't get so much as an apology. After complaining to management, we were basically told that nothing would be done. They wouldn't even reimburse us for dry cleaning. Unbelievable. They'll soon realize that treating customers this poorly is not a good idea. Save your money and go elsewhere. They basically ruined what would have been a great night. With so many amazing restaurants in nyc, no point in wasting money on this one.

How do you make a pleasant evening not so pleasant? Let me tell you how. I met with a few of my closest friends to celebrate our six month pregnant friends birthday on Saturday, March 6th.

I was very impressed with the decor and even the service up until we were leaving. The meal good but not memorable but I was there to celebrate a birthday and it wouldn't have mattered where we went.

The birthday girl requested a chocolate cake with dulce de leche. Of course not to deny pregnant women her cravings, I got up early on Saturday and made her a cake w/dulce de leche, coconut and almond filling and a chocolate ganache frosting w.toasted coconut...Yeah!! It sounds good and tasted even better.

We drank and eat and had a great time. After our meal, the cake came out we sang and our server took the cake to kitchen and served us about half the cake.

After paying the huge bill which I'm not complaining about because we dined and drank... I asked the server for the rest of the cake to give to the b.day girl...and I was told that "the kitchen had closed about an hour ago and we don't know where the cake is"...

WTF!!!..You don't know where the cake is? "Well we usually don't wrap pastries up to go when a customer brings there own"....WHAT KIND OF ANSWER IS THAT!!!!...I was furious....Tell me that you guys ate it because it was so good...or even that you threw it out...but to tell me that you have no idea where the cake is...NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!...I made sure that our server and the manager who also couldn't give me a straight answer apologized to the b.day girl who was pregnant!

Suffice to say we will not be returning to De Santos!!

A good friend of mine had a wedding at De Santos and it was one of the best weddings I've ever gone to!! There were about 100 people and we had all access to the main dining room and garden area. The appetizers were amazing and the staff was super friendly. The restaurant looked amazing and they even cleared a space for everyone to dance! De Santos is the perfect place for a small wedding and I am definitely coming in to try dinner. Oh! And an extra 5 stars to the bartenders for making sure our glasses were never empty!

My girlfriend and I came to De Santos on Friday night. We were walking around the west village looking for something to eat and stumbled upon this gem! The outside looks just like an old brownstone apartment building and we weren't expecting how cute it would be inside. We showed up around 9:30 and the hostess sat us immediately. The dining room was packed and it was so energetic. We loved everything. The baked asparagus was perfectly cooked and the swordfish with cajun corn was amazing. Our waitress reccommended perfect wine pairings for everything! After dinner they started playing such amazing music that we ended up staying for drinks till 1am!! This truly is a gem in the west village!

I came to De Santos on a Friday night with my husband and 2 other couples. It was very crowded and we hadn't made a reservation so we were hoping for the best when we walked in. The hostess asked us kindly to wait 5-10 minutes to see if a table cancelled or she would let us know how long it would take to get a table. We gladly waited at the bar and before we could even order the hostess came and let us know she could squeeze us in in 15 minutes. We were thrilled to say the least! We found a cozy corner at the bar and had a glass of wine and the hostess checked in with us every 5 minutes to keep us updated on when we would be seated. We were half-way through our wine when she came up and told us our table was being set and we would be able to sit down in 2 minutes. I was honestly amazed that she actually had a table ready for us in 15 minutes. She did let us know that our table was in the garden patio and even though it was closed off and heated it would be a little chillier than sitting inside. We didn't care because we were so thankful we actually got a table!
We sat down in the garden and it was beautiful. Yes, it was a little chilly, but the ambiance was great. Dimmed lights, candles, trees in every corner with twinkly lights and a view of outside. Our waiter was very attentive as well and he had an extensive knowledge of the wine list and gave excellent reccommendations. We quickly ordered, as we were hungry, and I must say the food was amazing. I had the tuna tartare and the basil crusted swordfish. Everything tasted spectacular and I was so full that I couldn't even order dessert!
We had an amazing time at De Santos and they were so accomodating and so wonderful to us that we will for sure be back. Next time, with a reservation!

I love stumbling upon restaurants in the city that remind me how a proper restaurant should work. De Santos is without a doubt one of those places and is my new favorite Italian restaurant in the city. This West Village gem has a stylishly rustic ambience with its exposed brick, and walnut tables and chairs. They have a wine bar speacializing in unique Italian wines as well as a full bar that will please even the fussiest drinker. The food is spectacular and ranges from unique appetizers and fresh seafood to artful pasta dishes and bovinial masterpeices. They have a private space for parties, an outdoor patio, and they even deliver. What more can I say - if you like amazing Italian food, an incredible bar and a great atmosphere, this retsaurant is definitely worth checking out.

I came to De Santos last year and wasn't very happy. My friends thought we should try it again and I was suprised to see they had done a 180! The hostess was alot nicer this time and kept us updated on when our table would be ready. They dropped the prices a little and the food was great! Looks like I'll be coming back!
