If you know what you are getting in to the 49.99 repair is a good deal. You need to be savvy enough to avoid the VGA antivirus up-sell. They install the free version on your system and charge you $50 for it so say NO. Hold yourself accountable if you have no knowledge, research before you buy! This is the information age so there is no one to blame for getting ripped off except yourself.

If it was possible to enter no stars, that is what I would rate this company. This place is the worst rip off place I have ever been to. Not only do they not do as they say, they are rude and incompetent. They told me my computer would be done on a certain day and it wasn't which was fine. But when I asked when it would be done, all I got was this jerk yelling and me and saying things like 'everyone wants there computers done now, blah blah' get the idea? Anyway after listening to him yell at me for a good 5 minutes I told him I wanted my computer back and would go somewhere else. Needless to say, since I had to prepay for the part, I lost out. He charged all kinds of fees and I spent $80 for nothing. Abosolutely nothing. Lesson learned. Please people, do not go to this company. They are totally rip offs.

I bought a 480w power supply from this company on a saturday afternoon I paid 69.99 + tax and when I got home and opened the box the power supply felt really cheap, so I started to research it on line and I found it for 15.00 on newegg, started reading reviews about that particular power supply and most people advised to stay away from it. I didn't install it, waited until Monday to take it back for a refund and there was a guy at the counter with a customer, I waited for a little while before I said anything and when he asked if I needed help, I told him I needed a refund . He said he couldn't refund my money because they have a no refund policy and I looked around the store for a sign and couldn't find one, so I asked him, where does it say that? he said "it's here on the receipt" I told him that that was not right because you only get to look at the receipt after you pay for the part and than is too late, he said "well, it's here in the work order too",so I told him that I had never taken anything in for repair how was I to know. "well that's our policy" he said, so I told him that the problem was that this was a 15 dollar part and I didn't think it was fair for them to sell it for 70 and he said that's how they make money and that all the other companies mark them up that much.
I ask if they could exchange it for a better known brand and I would pay the difference and he called the owner on the phone and explained what the problem was and he was told that since I took the part out of the store they had no way of knowing if I had installed the part and burned it or something and the best they could do was buy the psu from me for $20.00 of give me a $40.00 discount if I bought a more expensive one.
That really insulted me and pissed me off, I told him I knew it wasn't his fault cause he was just an employee, but to tell his m******f***ing boss to put a sign on the wall with his policies and walked out. This is the last time I ever buy anything from computer bytes and you want to buy anything from them research the parts they are selling you or you might be getting a cheap part when you could buy a much better part for the same price

I have a laptop that had a problem picking up a wireless network.. Took it into computer bytes to have it repaired. I took my computer to the store on 3500 South and 300 west in Salt lake city. I was promissed that the computer would be repaired for $49 plus tax. My computer was never fixed, but, I had to pay to get my computer back. I eventually sent the laptop back to HP to be repaired because it was no longer under waranty. HP contacted me as soon as they got my computer to tell me that My Wireles PCI card was incompatible with my computer. I could not believe it. Someone at Computer Bytes took a perfectly good wireless PCI card out of my computer and replaced it with a incompatible wireless card. Returned to the store and they all lied. they were covering for each others lies. I was never able to speak to the owner. They were all confused about who the actual owner was. To this day I have not been reimbursed for them stealing something from me. I have been bitten. Very shy now. I hope someone will read this before taking their computer to computer bytes.

My laptop was turned over and I paid the advertised $49 for service. Then the jackass rendered a service I did not request (systems recovery, something any moron can do with 4 spare minute's time), and specifically mentioned I had planned to do myself, for the additional cost of $84.

Well I shrug and figure, "This guy is holding my machine hostage, and I would've paid only $20 less for the repairs I did request". I pay the additional cost for the service I did not request despite the ridiculous charge only to discover that the repair I did request was not performed.

My laptop has a DC power issue. Rather than attempting to diagnose or repair the problem Steve, the proprietor, simply tells me to purchase new batteries and AC adapters (things which I had already excluded as probably causes as I HAD purchased a new battery and tried another more suitable adapter). In addition the clown installed the incorrect version of my OS, so I have to do the systems restore myself after all.

Of course Steve refused to perform additional diagnosis and/or repair, balked on a partial refund for at least the 'system restore' I did not request, and shrugged when I pointed out that he had loaded the improper OS. Essentially I paid $140+ despite an advertised $50 and all I got was a retarded ad banner as my desktop wallpaper.

Lesson learned. Next time I'll check the Better Business Bureau before hitting one of these PC 'repair' shops; this firm has had five complaints lodged in the past 2 years. Mine makes 6.
