I was looking for high quality Indian food and haven't been pleased with what the area offers until I went to Kadhai. First I'd recommend the perfectly seasoned pakora appetizer. For a main dish try the tandoori kabob which was served

This indian style buffet was a tremendous experience for my taste buds! Usually, I'm not too much of a fan of spicy foods, but the chefs mixture of spice and flavor made my mouth water. This is an amazing restaurant with a quality service staff and a great environment. I tip my hat to this chef for a wonderful meal.

I just enjoyed the buffet at Kadhai for the second time. Both times have been absolutely delicious! Chef Gomes prepares excellent foods and there is so much to choose from on the menu. We were treated to a carving demonstration as well and were able to watch Chef Gomes carve beautiful art from fruit and vegetables. He is very talented and we very much enjoyed our visit.

We found this gem of a restaurant with a simple Google search. You would never find it if you needed a large, overstated presence. It is tucked away in a shopping mall. We have loved it every time we have visited, which is three times in the last 6 weeks. We brought different sets of friends for each visit and all enjoyed it even though it was a first time for this type of cuisine.
The food is delicious. The staff is attentive and helpful in sorting through the large menu. They are all proud of what they offer and really want you to enjoy your experience.
Again, the food is delicious and I can hardly wait to get to last night's leftovers waiting in the refrigerator!

My family of 6 had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant the other night and I must say - what a pleasant experience. My 9 yr old kept saying it was such a great place to eat because the kids meals were delicious, the mango "smoothie" was awesome and the music was so relaxing. The attention to detail could be seen throughout the entire meal. From the attentive wait staff that made sure our glass kept full to the vegetable art work that came with each course. Our dinner was served in a copper pot with a votive candle underneath to make sure our dinner didn't get cold. Even the head chef came out to make sure our dinner was to our liking. There was more than enough food, and what we couldn't eat, we brought home for lunch the next day. If you are ever in the Glenwood Ave area, I would highly recommend this restaurant. We will be back again!

My husband and I were excited to find Kadhai this weekend. The staff was very personable and helpful and we enjoyed the Kadhai Paneer (excellent) and the Chicken Korma which was also very good. The vegetable samosas and bread basket were great alongside dinner (our favorite was the onion bread). We don't often go out for Indian with our kids because they don't like it but we will definitely be taking them to Kadhai. Not only do they have a kids menu (which we were pleasantly surprised by) but they also have some Indian dishes we thinks the kids might be willing to try. We are looking forward to going back!

Folks you need to treat yourself to the fantastic food at Kadhai, especially the lunch buffet. No kidding...its very very good and a bargin at 7.95, with lots of selections hot and cold, veg or meat. The owner chef is personable and talented and does care about his craft and the service is friendly and generally very good.
You do get a sense of community from these folks and they seem greatful to be in business and glad to have you with them and happy with your experience.
The decor is agreeably done not over blown gaudy, or overblown contemporary, and is comfortable-simple.

As with every Indian resturant I' ve been to; the dinner menu is ala carte' which is always problematic and expensive unless you dinner-dine with multiple people "family-style" which works out ok if with agreeable company.
A brief note on the reference of not being "authentic/spicy/hot" enough...have to call BS on that...its close as anyone should expect on a buffet, after all too hot is not going to appeal to the greater numbers of people whatever their culture. I would also like to point out (even to Indian natives, most who know already) Indian food is not always HOT and spicy doesnt always mean HOT....and of course ala carte meals are available any time they are open and can be made to order at any level of spice or heat...I know because I asked about this myself the first time I ate there... because I like both extra spicy, and hot myself. The folks/chef were quick to offer custom dish of any kind I wanted when inquired about....simple manners, kind response....nice people, great food...
JUST GO you'll see....

I stopped in to try the lunch buffet and was glad I did. i tried everything on the buffet and all of it was wonderful.
I also tried the desserts and found the rice pudding to be the best I ever had. I also tried the carrot pudding and found that good too. The fruit was fresh and delicious. So good I got take out for dinner.
The place was clean and service was very good also!

We had the good fortune to enjoy a wonderful meal at Kadhai while visiting family in the Raleigh area. We often eat in Indian restaurants in New York City where we are from and we all agreed that our meal far surpassed any we have eaten at home. We asked that our food be prepared "spicy" and we were impressed by the nuanced flavors and high quality of the ingredients. We ordered lassi, appetizers, spinach, butter chicken, a shrimp dish, a bread basket that had 4 different types of bread, etc. We were served very generous portions and ate until we couldn't eat another bite! The service was friendly and efficient.

I would have rated this restaurant 5 star if I decided to write a review a month back.

When I visited this restaurant month back, the food was really authentic South Indian with correct level of spice/hot.

Today's visit really disappointing when I took my family to this Restaurant. It was watered down..uhm rather I should milked/creamed down version of Indian ? cooking ? Not sure what to call this.

But when I decided to give feedback to the cashier, he plainly said that they can no longer make spicy because they have to please white customers !>>@>@?? And plainly said they don't care about Indian customers as they were only few who visits them...Have they forgotten that Indians are wait and try kind of people ? Only they believe in word of mouth marketing.. So that is why I decided to write this review.

If there is not authenticity then who cares. I would surely see this restaurant going down ..

The cashier didn't even show remorse when I said this will be my last visit...Nice !

It is upto you to experiment and find out yourself if you are one of the brave soul which is willing to take risks ;-)

I'm always on the hunt for good vegetarian cuisine so through a bizarre twist of fate I found myself at Kadhai. Sometimes being lost works out just fine. Unlike my hometown, I find it rare to find an establishment with great food, service and the attention to detail that a family run business can offer. Being vegetarian limits my options but my dining experience was flavorful and aromatic. My wife with simpler carnivorous tastes loved her meal. I had huge concerns regarding her satisfaction but when her dinner got the "two thumbs up" I knew we'd be back. Next trip I plan to bring the kids to see if Kadhai can really pass the test.

If you live in Raleigh and love Indian food, you know how limited our options are. Kadhai was formerly Royal India Express. Ownership has shifted twice and now lies in the very competent hands of the original CHEF! Although they are not very savvy from a marketing standpoint, the food is just fabulous. We take out every week, and are always thrilled with the depth of spices and luxe sauces. The butter chicken ordered hot is always right without too much heat spoiling the balance and the the Chicken Pasanda not available elsewhere in the Triangle is just superb. My husband and I actually fight over the Chana Peshawari ordered medium. It is just so nice! Breads are their specialty!! Garlic naan is better "just out" eating in, but good enough as take out as they package everything with such care. We always order extra rice because it is so fragrant and we eat it for two days! They are very family friendly!! My 3 and 8 year olds split the reshmi kabob and mango lassies and are always treated like princes and princesses! Go...enjoy a meal! They need the support of cultured Indian food critics like yourself!! Be sure to write them up after your lovely meal!! Raleigh needs more places like this!!!

The Chicken Tikka Masala I had from this place tonight was maybe the best I've ever had. Smooth, rich, and very flavorful. The chicken was all white meat and obviously good quality. The sauce was very tasty, and spiced exactly as I asked (medium). The naan and mango lassi were also excellent.

This is the first time I have eaten here since before when it was Royal India. If anything, it was better than before. Very important, I got a much better impression of the people running the place. Tonight, they were very open and friendly. Before, they were very impersonal.

Prices were reasonable given today's market.

Did not see too many options for vegetarians here.

I was really impressed with the first visit. Lamb Biryani (Non-Vegetarian) was amazing and I took with super hot. I felt nostalgic with the memories back in India. Place is neat and tidy. I haven't tried the vegetarian yet. Hope that should be fine too. Overall its good place to have dinner.

I went here for couple of time. Previously it was called as Royal India Palace. The foods are really very good here. There are lot of varieties for Non-vegetarians available at this place and the foods are very tasty as well. Food comes in time and the ambience is good too. Highly recommended for a dinner place..
