Pebblecreek Montessori is an amazing school. First off, it is a true Montessori, and that is a rare find in Dallas, where Montessori is just a buzz word that schools are putting on their glorified day cares. The next thing you should know is that the quality of the class leads is outstanding. All of the teachers at the school are caring, patient, respectful, and passionate about their jobs. They have literally taught me to be a better parent. My daughter has been there for three years and has reading, communication, and math skills beyond her age level. But more important than that, she is able to think through and solve problems. Where we have been truly blown away is in her character development. At Pebblecreek she has learned to be disciplined without losing individuality, initiative, or confidence. I have made and will continue to make unreserved recommendations to my friends and family for Pebblecreek.

I have read some of the negative reviews here and I am floored! I really don't know how to respond to the utterly ridiculous claims of clothing denial (WHAT???), too many vegetables in the lunches (really?), and too many requests for parent involvement... my only response is that this is definitely not the school for you, because I do not want your child in the same class as mine!

If you are a prospect parent looking to offer your child the best educational and growth environment in the North Dallas area, I would highly recommend Pebblecreek Montessori. It offers a true Montessori educational approach with emphasis not just on academics but on the whole childs development including critical life skills such as emotional intelligence, independence, confidence, respect for self and others, social and communications skills required to cultivate early in life.

We went through a rigorous selection process of researching, observing , visiting and interviewing many schools in the area and what we found was that many of them simply market themselves as Montessori and may have the right tools, lessons and materials in place but lack the real Montessori experience, spirit and practice. What good do those bells and whistles or theories on the shelves do if ultimately, the teachers and staff are not trained or experienced to put them to effective use? So parents, beware.

Our older child has attended Pebblecreek since 2008 and the younger one since Jan of 2013 and they both continue to thrive and grow as strong and independent little individuals. One of the major strengths of Pebblecreek is its staff and teachers and they have had a significant positive impact on our kids overall development. They serve not only as your childs excellent role model but also as your trusted advisors who collaborate with you to help develop your child. They will openly and proactively reach out to you if there are areas of concern or opportunities for improvement and are accessible and easy to communicate with. If there is ever a special needs situation, are willing to accommodate those needs within reason.

Education is a partnership and Pebblecreek offers parents the option to volunteer throughout the school year for many different events or activities that allow you to take a direct part, whether it is a gardening project, cultural awareness project or sharing a special talent. It is a wonderful opportunity for parents to get first-hand look and feel for what the kids environment is really like. This welcoming transparency has been a valuable and illuminating experience for us. It has also helped foster a strong community among the parents, teachers, staff and children which has been wonderful.

Our children are growing to become very independent, mature, compassionate and confident human beings. They love to go to school every day and when given a choice, they would rather not be picked up early. Our younger one who recently turned three and started Pebblecreek only a few months earlier, has picked up much new vocabulary, is becoming a confident communicator and considers every classmate a friend, even the 6 year olds! One of the key characteristics to survival in todays world is the childs thirst for continuous learning and at Pebblecreek, we have found an environment that offers exactly that!

Pebblecreek brings out the confidence and independence in our children wed hoped it would. Our kindergarten daughter happily walks our toddler daughter to her classroom every day. The teachers are excellent and willing to talk with parents any time, even after hours. The students are welcoming and respectful. Our older daughter considers every classmate a friend for the first time in 5 schools shes attended. The students experience Spanish immersion - our daughter's pronunciation is superb. She also has the opportunity interact with 1st-3rd graders daily. It has brought a confidence and maturity in her. In the classroom shes engaged in every subject. She is proud to show us her work and explain what shes accomplished. Our toddler has become independent and self-sufficient and her vocabulary has grown immensely. The new head teacher is firm, patient, encouraging and an expert potty trainer. The assistant teacher is wonderful with the kids our daughter considers her a best friend.

I absolutely love Pebblecreek Montessori. If you are looking for a school that really believes in the Montessori philosophy, this is one of the few excellent options. While a lot of schools call themselves Montessori (I know from experience), this one lives and breathes it. My daughter has loved her Kindergarten year at PCM. They make it so special for the kids and a real transition year for the 5 & 6 year olds who will be moving on to Elementary. They focus on the whole child--academic, social and emotional growth are all equally important here. We left a school that did a great job with academics using Montessori materials, but did not follow the 3 year cycle or implement other Montessori staples (like peace curriculum). I found that my child's social and emotional growth was not a priority at the school we left and she was so unhappy every day. She may have done well academically, but she lost her confidence when she was put in an environment she was not ready for (rows of desks at age 4.5) My child is so excited for school now and confident in who she is. She practically jumps out of the car at drop-off and I credit the teachers and school for much of this.

There are a lot of Montessori mills in the DFW area and only a handful really practice true Montessori philosophy as Maria Montessori designed. Pebblecreek is one of the few schools that stays true to the mission. If you are looking for this philosophy, ask the schools you are looking at if they have a peace table, if the kids sit at desks all day facing front, and what they do to work on the social and emotional growth of the children. I wish I had known to ask about these things a few years ago. Some kids are just fine in that kind of environment, but it did not work well for our child. Don't be fooled by seeing the name "Montessori" at a school--dig deep to find out if they just use the materials and don't follow the rest of the philosophy.

I have found the teachers at PCM to be extremely approachable--you can email or set up conferences as often as you would like. I appreciate the ease with which we can communicate with the school.

The uniforms are simple and cute--no complaints from me or my child here.

The school has a program called Time, Talent and Treasure that encourages parents to get involved with the school. You can attend parent training sessions, coffee with the director, and volunteer for school events as part of this program. I love this because it helped me meet other parents and feel like part of a community. This is definitely a school where staff members know you and your child.

Coming to PCM was one of the best decisions for our family. I feel like they are really preparing children to be citizens of the world and good stewards to their communities. It is exactly what I was looking for in a school and I'm glad I found it. Highly recommend.

My children have attended PCM since 2008. My husband and I have been thrilled with the care, nurturing, education and learning experience they have received at the school. The telltale sign for us is how much my children have absolutely loved their teachers. Since coming to the school, I have seen the school change, grow and make improvements. The school is constantly pushing itself to be the best and is open to feedback. Some examples: education and training for parents, communications - email blasts and website improvements, fine arts programs, et al. We looked at over 6 schools before we made the choice to come to PCM. We have never regretted our decision.

This school is terrific. We are incredibly picky about Montessori programs and I toured/researched over 8 schools before coming across Pebblecreek. This one passed all of our tests with flying colors. The staff is truly wonderful, very caring and excellent educators. We have 3 children attending there. Our 3 children are in 3 separate classes, and we have met a number of the other teachers - so I feel we have a good overall impression of the staff in total. In response to the allegations below , I have to say this: First, for anyone to believe your stories about not letting the parents congregate is ludicrous. We are encouraged to congregate. The school even provides numerous events for that purpose! The school is very much interested in creating a loving community involving both parents and children. And for the allegations that there are too many vegetables in the lunches - is that a joke? You really don't want your child to eat vegetables??? I am questioning your parenting skills more than anything after that review. The school provides wonderful lunches (you're invited to see anytime you want, as a parent) and they are both nutritious and delicious (according to all 3 of our kids!). If someone wants their child to eat chicken nuggets everyday, then public school is an option for them. ;)

This is the second year for my 3 children, now all of them are on the elementary program but last year I spent a lot of time on both the primary and the elementary areas. As part of my previous job I visited many preschools, montessori and traditional and got a pretty good idea of what I wanted for my kids. I can honestly say I have found what I wanted here at Pebblecreek. My kids are incredibly interested in learning very different things, they do not have limits to what they want to do and the three of them are very different. One of them loves math and he is doing 5th grade math in 3rd grade. My oldest has learned time management and leadership and gained so much confidence in herself. I love to hear my little one negotiate in a respectful way with us and others. They are happy and feel very comfortable at the school so this allows them to focus on learning and exploring. The spanish program makes a lot of sense, after the first year my oldest is reading, writting and speaking it with good pronunciation.
I believe staff and administration are pretty open to dialogue when something is not going well. I have no problem addressing it directly. I would encourage parents to take their time touring, interviewing and observing this school.

Pebblecreek Montessori is THE BEST school around! My son has been attending Pebblecreek since the age of 3, he is now 7 and still LOVES to learn!
I have read the other reviews and find it amazing how extremely different they are. The only thing I can say is go and see for yourself. I am truly glad that I did!!

Before I address the criticism of the school, I want to address what my family's personal experience has been. My sons were born premature and spent 3 and 4 weeks respectively in the NICU. I was so careful with my boys that I kept them home for their first two years. To say that I am anal about their care is an understatement. My boys started Pebblecreek on their 2nd birthday and both have absolutely thrived. Thier Spanish vocabulary is superb. Their knowledge of geography is outstanding. Their friendships are long-term and special. My boys aren't perfect and neither is the school but I know my children are loved, respected and happy at Pebblecreek. My youngest started school at 18 months. She would cry when her brothers would leave her behind. At 3 she's already blending, she completed a world map on her own (she did have 2 Antarcticas but she's 3!). Children have their own special gifts. This school allows them to learn at their own pace.

The criticism of this school is void of any examples and frankly is over the top bitter. Worse still, they contain flat out lies. I am a constant presence in this school. One of the things I love most about this school is its open door policy with parents. Education is a partnership. Tour the school. Speak to current and former families. Talk to the teachers. Make an informed decision and don't let the bitterness of others influence your opinion. Demand proof. If you plan to drop your kids off and make their education someone else's responsibility, you'll be disappointed every where you go.

I give the toddler program a thumbs down. What astounds me is how many parents believe the story that the school tells them about what they do inside the classes. What they actually do and what they tell you are 2 different things. Maybe they are telling you is what they "want" to do. Not what actually happens. If I wasnt so vigilant, I would not have known this. Stay away if you care about value for money and your toddler's physical all-around care.

This is one of the worst schools in the area. My kid has been going there for 6 moths.... any I am looking for a new school. Pebble Creek is a glorified expensive day care. The kids don't learn any thing!!!! The techers and the owners very unfriendly and snoby.... everytime I see the teacher of my child's class I feel like asking WHO PAYS for YOUR SALARY!!!! They don;t have the time to talk to you and feel like they are doing you a favor my being in your child's class room. I can get this treatment from my teenager w/o having to pat an arm and leg. The food is low quality food and the parents are not kept up to date - no communciation on how your child is doing!!! Do me a favor and register your child in a free public school... you will get a better service... the plano ISD food menu is posted before the month starts... the so called credited school where you pay more than 1000 a month takes two weeks to post the lunch menu on line.!!!! Who cares how many certificates you have on your wall... it is all about how well the childen and parents are treated. Very very disappointing experience!!!

Pebblecreek Montessori is one of only 4 Dallas area Montessori schools to be accredited next year (there are 54 within a 25 mile radius) . The school employs top notch teachers and is recognized by AMS (American Montessori Society) and IMC (International Montessori Council) as a school qualified to train Montessori teacher interns. Not only are the teachers trained, they are trainers and the most educated and experienced around. Some of the faculty members are on accreditation boards. Working with children requires a special gift and it is exhausting, but the allegation that the staff is underpaid is unfounded; if they were underpaid, they would leave . Many new schools in the area actively and unethically recruit our staff members because they are the best. The sad reality is, the overall quality of Montessori eduction is this area is poor and PCM employees would not want to associatted with many of the schools seeking them out. Many former employees of Pebblecreek have opened their own schools and try to model what they have learned during their employment . PCM is one of the only schools offering a Montessori elementary program; most of the daycares calling themselves "Montessori" could never and would never be able to offer a full service program. Pebblecreek is a value for the money employing specialists in language therapy, music, art , spanish and physical education. A wise consumer is looking for value, not the lowest tuition fees. The uniform policy has been embraced by the parents and their is nothing in any accredidation standards that would discourage the implementation of such a policy. BEST Montessori practice does require freedom of expression and we can effectively accomplish this through our quality fine arts program. PCM does not t have a fully converted Montessori infant program as of yet and will not claim to have one until school is fully accredited as some of the Montessori requirements contradict those required by the State of Texas. However, once the school is accredited, they will be under the IMC requirements not the state. The school offers a hot lunch program and the menu is published on the school's website. The menu is well balanced and the food is prepared on-site. The toddlers have a fresh fruit and produce program and routinely prepare their own snacks in class. I find it very disappointing that anyone would anonymously write such a negative review of such a good school . The tone of the review indicates some self serving purpose and a far stretch from reality. If a child is being fed stale snacks, it is the obligation of the parent to voice concerns and this has never come to our attention. We invite you to come and see best Montessori practice and speak with some of our current familes and some of our alunmi who have gone on the some of the best private schools in the area including Hockaday, Jesuit Prep , Trinity Christian Academy, St. Alcuins, and Westwood Montessori.See what these schools have to say about Pebblecreek. I would also encourage parents who are looking for quality Montessori to contact Tim Seldin at the IMC or the home office of AMS in New York to see what they have to say about PCM.

On a final note, just because a teacher is trained, does not mean it is quality. If you want "TRUE Montessori" make sure the teacher has been trained by a MACTE accredited program and completed an internship in an accredited school . Most of the programs offered online and in local colleges are not approved by Montessori organizations and would not be recognized in accredited schools. As you look for Montessori schools also ask how many years the teachers have been teaching and where they got their teaching experience, Come visit is at our beautiful 5 acre campus and judge for yourself! Pebblecreek Montessori is a school of excellence and woud not be so successful if they offered anything less.

Pros: Best value in the area

Cons: None

.

Where does one begin...

This school is beyond disappointing. I'm going to bullet point:
-Not all Lead Teachers are Montessori certified.
-You are badgered constantly to donate money; to pay for a brand new elementary school.
-Extreme lack of communication between administration and parents, as well as administration and teachers.
-Outrageous fees for enrollment.
-Requirement of uniforms (which is not TRUE Montessori)
-I have witnessed a student not permitted to eat lunch with their peers and then required to eat on the floor.
-Claim to have a Infant Montessori Program but couldn't be further from the truth.
-Teachers seems underpaid an exhausted.
-My student is routinely fed stale hard pretzels for snack
-Quality of food served for meals is close to that found at McDonalds or worse.

Overall this school is a joke. Please do your research and educate yourself what a TRUE Montessori school should be. Unfortunately, I'm out thousands of dollars but hopefully this will save you the heartache and money.
