I like the atmosphere of this place. I like the corner. I loved the "manage a trois" (three mini burgers with three different sauces). The only problem is that this place is unpredictable. The owners closed and reopened this place a couple of times already. I hope they remain in business. It is a charming place.

We ate dinner here last night and found it to be great. The prices were reasonable and the menu, while not large, had some interesting choices. The Steak Frites were the highlight. The owner was on hand talking to each table and was helpful with wine recommendations too. The space is nice with a long bar which provides an appealing atmosphere. The building itself is the oldest building in the country to house an African-American owned business -- pre-civil war. We could also see the waterfalls under the Brooklin Bridge from the outdoor tables. This restaurant is a nice addition to the neighborhood now that it is under new management and we will be back.

Pros: Great Value, cool space, good food, attentive staff

Cons: One block further than the other Front Street Restaurants -- but worth the walk

The food is delicious; i encourage readers to try Belle de Jour.
We've been to this restaurant 3 times, twice under its first management and again this week under the sole management of the chef. The food was delicious all times - very light, fresh bistro cooking, simple and fresh.
We really enjoy the atmosphere - good jazz music, a neat old bar.
I see complaints on service; we've observed nothing more than perhaps some side effects of a restaurant just getting off the ground, but never rudeness or cluelessness. We had great recommendations from our waitress this recent visit.
The chocolate souffle with cognac was delicious. The pate was some of the best i've had in the city.
It is often rather empty but the atmosphere isn't diminished by this, surprisingly. i encourage readers to give it a try.

The service is pretty bad... if they are ever open. I had made several attempts to go there because I was just seeking a new spot to dine in around the area. I went there when it opened in the fall and I love the food then. I guess they changed the menu? new owner?
The waiter are clueless of their own menu. I hope that it will turn around because I love the location and I love french cuisine.

Not recommended. At all. There's a very good reason why this restaurant is always empty.

Let's start from the top and end with the kicker. 1) They had "just sold out" of everything at 8 pm on a Saturday--our first and second choice of wine as well as my companion's first choice for her entree. 2) Service was just plain odd. The waiter appeared to know nothing about the wines or entrees.

But here's the kicker. Ready? Mold in the water. Yes, mold. My companion realized that there was mold in the water when she took a sip, discovered a jello-like substance in her mouth, and found a lovely green ball of mold. We then looked at my glass. Yep. Slimy mold. I guess it could have been algae. Not that that makes it any better.

No apologies from the staff or the owner, nor did they offer not to charge us for the meal.

This place is disgusting. Avoid at all costs. Unless, of course, you enjoy mold. I feel ill, and it ruined my night.

Pros: Sorry--I'm normally not a negative person but there are no pros here

Cons: Dirty, unsanitary, inattentive staff
