I have been a patient of Dr. Fishers for about four years and I have now switched to a NEW DOCTOR.

From the get go I thought Dr. Fisher was cold and harsh. I never really minded though because she seemed competent and direct. I have a long line of medical issues pertaining to my neither region and I wanted a Dr. who knew what was going on and would address my questions and problems head on. I don??t need to be coddled and I appreciate honesty.

This week I went in for my annual check up and was first berated for being ??6 months late.? Fine whatever?. I then described to Dr. Fisher a new symptom I was experiencing every once in a while and explained to her where it was and what it felt like. She immediately told me I had herpes, before she even inspected ??the situation.? I told her that wasn??t possible I am married and have been in the same committed relationship for the four years since I have been her patient to which she replied, ??well things happen, and anything is possible.?

When I suggested to Dr. Fisher other alternatives for what the problem could be she was not interested in hearing what I had to say and kept telling me she was pretty sure it was herpes. End of story.

She then did her inspection told me ??there was something, that looked like it could be something? and ran a test ??to confirm? that it was herpes. Before I left I asked if she would call me with the results one way or another and she told me ??absolutely.? A few days after getting the test done I called the office to find out what the waiting time was for the results, seeing as I had been making myself crazy with worry all week, and the girl informed me the tests results had some in the day before and were NEGATIVE (I have since seen another doctor and they too said NEGATIVE).

I am not some 19-year-old college kid who needs to be scared into having safe s*x. I am an adult and a married woman who has been in a committed relationship for years. There was no need for the scare tactics, no sort of bed side manor and the woman was completely wrong. I understand that she is a ??medical professional? trained to recognize symptoms but you do not flat out tell someone they have herpes until you do some sort of inspection or test. The physiological damage that could do to someone is incredible.

In addition to being shocked and stunned by my doctor I have to say I was rather surprised by the treatment I received from the RN who took my bl00d sample. She was nasty and short tempered and left my arm bruised beyond belief, 4 days later I still had a major bruise. She was the same women who did my initial check up: weight, height etc. And she was just nasty.

I get the place probably had an overload in the patient department but that doesn??t mean you should treat people like sh** and dismiss their concerns and health history like they just don??t matter.

While the split had no impact on me or my insurance, I was surprised that I never received any sort of notice. But that was the least of the problems I had with the place as of late.

Pros: Convient local

Cons: rude staff, know it all doctors who don't know anything.

This place is an incredibly depressing place to be a pregnant woman. Expect to wait at least an hour in a crowded reception room with no water while the reception staff treat you like you're something subhuman, and yell out to you across the room. Unless they are ignoring you and gossiping in a group.

To give urine samples, there is a tiny, dirty bathroom with no soap, and you have to put yours next to a thousand others in clear view of everyone in the reception area, it's humiliating. Even when your name is called, you will sit in a cold room in your gown for an extremely long time before someone sees you. Twice my husband has gone out to find someone for me after I have been sitting there for 30 mins +.

You see a different Dr every time, and they are so busy, they will often cut you off before you finish asking your questions.

They do not call you with your test results as promised, ever. I urgently needed to know my bl00d type, so I could have a very important test on the baby, and they did not return my call for 3 days, despite it having been 2 weeks since they promised to call me with the results, and the alleged 24 hour call return policy.

Having a baby is supposed to be the happiest time of your life, but the dread of the treatment at this place hangs over me like a cloud. I am desperately trying to change centres at the moment.

Cons: Wait time, hygiene, reception staff, bedside manner, tests

Dr. Fischer has been my gyn for a number of years. She's a solid, conscientious, capable doctor.

It's true she's no handholder. She thinks like a surgeon: she's looking to solve problems rather than nurture people. But she always asks if you have questions, waits a few seconds, and answers fully. You have to have your questions in mind when you walk in, though, because she moves fast.

Dr. Fischer did surprise me once when I made an offhand remark and she thought I'd criticized her. It was suddenly clear to me that she can't really help it if she seems cold. I thought: It seems unfair to blame a doctor for being no more perfect than I am.

My gyn before I went to Dr. Fischer was a smiling knucklehead. Trust me, competence is better. She doesn't have to seem like a big sister to know what's she's doing.

The key to this practice is being direct about what you want. If I want to talk to Dr. Fischer, I ask for her. If I want more of an explanation or a dialogue, I ask for the NP. No one has tried to keep me from talking to Dr. Fischer or passed me off to the NP when I asked for her.

In response to another reviewer: I did get a letter saying the practice splitting in two. I think the office has improved since then. The receptionists are much more cooperative.

I do have some problems with little things at the office. The tiny bathrooms for urine samples are revolting. The waiting room tables are scattered with cheesy advertising brochures. There's a sign above the water fountain warning that if you push the button too hard the water will splash on the nearest chairs. A doctor's office shouldn't have booby traps. I say fix it or ditch it.

Finally, the cancellation policy is a disgrace. If you cancel less than 24 hours before, you pay $20! It's punitive. A $5 nuisance fee might be appropriate, but not more. Geez.

These little problems can be fixed. Even the bathrooms could LOOK better and be cleaned every half hour or so.

Dr. Archibald is cold, rude and judgmental. Based on other reviews, it looks like she's not an exception.

I HAVE BEEN GOING TO MURRAY HILL OBGYN FOR ABOUT 5-6 YEARS WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN TODAY I GO TO THE WEBSITE TO LOOK SOMETHING UP AND DISCOVER THAT THE PRACTICE IS NO LONGER THERE. THE DOCTORS, OR PARTNERS AS THEY PUT IT, SEPERATED INTO TWO DIFFERENT PRACTICES. I NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE, PHONE CALL, NOTHING. AND THEY DIDNT SEEM TOO UNDERSTANDING WHEN I CALLED LOOKING TO HAVE MY RECORDS SENT TO ME. THIS PLACE HAS BEEN A DISASTER SINCE I STARTED GOING AND NEVER REALLY GOT BETTER. LADIES, IF YOU NEED A DOCTOR, LOOK ELSEWHERE BECAUSE THIS PRACTICE IS A LIABILITY WAITING TO HAPPEN.

Giving this "medical office" one star is being generous. I went to Dr. Quinn a few years back (i see now that she's really a nurse that fills in for doctors) when I first moved to NY. My last visit with her I was in tears in her exam room, and she basically said I had to stop the nonesense b/c I was taking up valuable time from other patients. She should not be allowed to practice medicine in my opinion. The office is cold, the staff is rude and the wait before appointments is appalling. They should be ashamed of themselves of the fact that they consider themselves doctors. I don't have much experience of other doctors in this office, but if they are anything like Dr. Quinn... RUN!

THESE DOCTORS NEED TO GET IT TOGETHER OR THEY WILL HAVE NO PATIENTS LEFT!!!
RUDE STAFF, COLD OFFICE AND A WATER COOLER THAT IS BROKEN?? THE BATHROOM OFTEN HAS MISSING SOAP AND THE WAIT IS A KILLER. DR FISCHER IS A COLD, MEAN AND NASTY WOMAN. SHE HAS LONG AGO LOST THE COMPASSION FOR HER CHOICE OF PROFESSION. THE NURSE ( QUINN) IS OFTEN USED AS A REPLACEMENT FOR THE DOCTORS. MAKE SURE YOU ARE ALLRIGHT WITH IT. I ALWAYS SAY NO , AS THEY BILL ME FULL PRICES FOR A LESS TRAINED STAFF MEMBER....GUESS WHAT, NOT ON MY TAB !!!!!!!!!!!
I HAVE BEEN A PATIENT FOR 6 YEARS AND ALL THE GOOD DOCTORS HAVE GONE. MY YEARLY APPT IS COMING UP AND I WILL BE LOOKING ELSEWHERE. IT IS A SHAME BECAUSE I HAD MY 2 BOYS DELIVERED HERE AND SO HAVE MANY OF MY FRIENDS. IT USE TO BE A TOP PRACTICE AND THE CHANGE IS SHOCKING!

I am very, very grateful to Murray Hill OB/GYN for two healthy children, notwithstanding complications at birth. The second was delivered by Dr. Rosenberg and I thank her. I found her caring and attentive and I appreciated the fact that she worked with my doula. Also, I always got my questions answered without a problem.
Unfortunately, the office is not friendly and appointments never start on time. I am not a complainer by any stretch of the imagination. But just try getting someone on the phone. It's impossible. Which is too bad, because I found the medical care to be perfectly fine.

I had my baby delivered from DR. Rossenburg, so i need not say how frequent i have visited the place. It is thanks to Dr. Rosenburg, her experience and "patience" that I had a normal delivery and not a C section.

At times the wait was only 15 mins and at times 1 hr. This happens everywhere and with a place like NY i did not expect anything different. If you want 15 mins take the earlier or latest appointment. all the drs here are nice (nurse as well) except one. you cannot expect a five star personal service and i was fine with it - they are professional and i did nt expect any personal touch.

The only reason i gave it a 3 start and not a 5 star is becuase one of the Drs here - Dr. Archibald is nt that nice. She may be good doctor , but she doesnt give you a good feeling and i heard the same comments from another friend of mins , whose baby was actually deliverd by Dr. Archibald .. She seems to be in a hurry , doesnt bother much, will express emotions (frustrations) and is not at all patient.

all the best !

The doctors have no bedside manners or patience. They do not like to answer any questions or address any concerns whatsoever. I've tried all the doctors and Dr. Fischer is a robot, hates being bothered and is very cold. If you're used to that, then she would be perfect for you!
Dr. Rosenberg is so judgemental, I wouldn't be surprised if she starts giving you a lecture about celibacy.

It's no wonder they are being sued! Hence, I'm assuming that's why the medical group split into two, Kips Bay Obgyn and Cityscape Obgyn. The waiting is always packed and my appointments never ever start on time!! I usually wait an hour. I thought that was the norm, until my friends told me they usually wait 15 minutes tops.

Just about every experience I had there was unpleasant - the NP (Catherine Quinn) didn't listen, was rude, and seemed judgmental, hard to get anyone on the phone and when I did the medical advice was strange (suggested I was pregnant when I complained of slight nausea and a severe sore throat after getting the third Guardasil shot and when I asked if it could be a possible side effect of the shot, was dismissed with "side effects only happen to a very small number of people"). Also twice saw a staff member belittle the front desk staff in front of an entire waiting room - definitely gave the place a bad vibe. Everyone seemed unhappy. In early August, they split into two practices-Kips Bay Gynecology and Cityscape OB/GYN-but the location and most of the staff seems to be the same. Plus, I got the letter informing me of the split three weeks after the fact. Maybe the problems have been worked out, but I'm not going to risk it.

I have been with many different doctors in this practice over the years, and keep coming back mainly because I can usually get an appointment without waiting for three months. It can be a bit chaotic there, but it's not as bad as a lot of the reviews on this site. I had one not-so-pleasant experience but I realize the doctor was just trying to get a job done. Several years ago my company changed insurance plans to one not accepted at Murray Hill. I started seeing a new doctor at a major (highly rated NYC) hospital and it was far, far, worse. Although he came highly recommended, the waiting room was complete chaos, ran hours behind schedule, and he spent the absolute minimum amount of time with me. Fortunately my insurance changed again and I was able to return to Murray Hill ObGyn. I was most recently with Dr. Fischer and found her to be very professional but down to earth, and felt quite comfortable with the level of care provided. Murray Hill ObGyn recently split their practices into two separate business names but they are apparently still operating in the same offices. During the first week of the formal separation of business names, Dr. Fischer personally called me about a routine prescription that I needed. I was expecting to hear back from a staff member, and was very relieved that I wasn't falling through the cracks. I just felt that I really should come to her defense. Give them a break! Dr. Fischer is now at Kips Bay ObGyn.

I went to Murray Hill OBGYN so they can check if they accept my insurance. They said they do, and scheduled an appointment with Dr Gronau.
I came early for my appointment. I ended up waiting an hour and a half before they told that my insurance has a problem with Dr Gronau seeing me. Other doctor, Rosenberg, was not available so after waiting for an hour and a half, giving my urine and freezing in an extremely cold waiting room, I had to leave with another scheduled appointment.
When I came in to the other appointment with Dr Rosenberg, I waited for only 15 minutes, gave my urine again, and then I was shown into the exam room and waited for Dr Rosenberg for another 10 minutes. Then a Nurse Practitioner came in. I thought she came in just to ask me questions and fill out the form. She told me to get ready for the exam and left the room. I expected Dr Rosenberg to come in, but the same Nurse came in and examined me!I was stunned, speechless. I didn't even know that a Nurse Pract, can examine women?!
But I was already on the table.
Then the same Nurse Pract, who examined me called me a week later to tell me that the lab didn't have enough cells to perform the second test needed. She told me that she didn't know how many cells she's taking since they are invisible, and asked me to come again for another sample taking.
I opted not to.
I will never ever go to this office again. I am 32 years old, I've lived on several different continents and have never experienced such a bad medical service!
Please, don't go there.

Incredibly rude reception staff, rude/abrupt doctors who take no time to explain anything or give information, NO SOAP in the high traffic restroom where they make you urinate in a cup, doctors are not gentle or caring at all, you will be charged a HUNDRED DOLLAR cancellation fee if you have the audacity to have a work emergency, if you try to call them to ask about ANYTHING - your medical care, the fees you've been charged, the terrible treatment you've received, etc - you will undoubtedly be greeted with a long wait on hold, incredibly rude staff, including the office "director" Barbara Lee (you'd think the practice's director would have some people skills and/or management skills, but such is not the case - i was treated incredibly rudely by the reception staff, Dr. Quinn, the reception supervisor Tricia and Barbara Lee) - one of their doctors has an $11 million judgment for medical negligence against her, etc.

i will be writing a letter to every medical regulator i can find about this place.

if you're looking for rough, insensitive, uninformed "medical care" that leaves you uncertain as whether or not they may have harmed you, absurd fees and by far the MOST RUDE staff ever - then murray hill is for you. i would give zero stars, but the citysearch website wouldnt let me submit this review w/o choosing a star rating.

I had been going here for about 3 yrs from a recommendation from friends. We have all left one by one. Dr. Fischer was my provider she was capable but not pleasant. I was not looking for a friend so I did not mind. But her coupled with being nickel & dimed drove me away. There is a policy no credit cards under $25 ? guess what most insured people?s co-pays is? $20. But amazing to get my medical records released they will accept my $10 on Visa. It just fires me up because I had several procedures there so in some way I was a cash cow for them and they use and EMR and refuse email it. For me it not the money it is the principal. Medically I believe they are capable but for service, cost and general office attitude it is pretty awful. I switched to Spring Street OB GYN ? so far so GREAT!

I cannot imagine receiving worse service. I called the dr's office three days ago complaining of minor pain. In the three days it took them to ignore my phone calls my pain turned into severe pain and I spent all of yesterday doubled over in pain crying, including last night after I went into the office for a test that showed positive for a problem they were too lazy to call in a prescription for. I am sure that if you have a friend who is in with the dr. you might get treated like a decent human being, but I am shocked by how horrible and thoughtless this office is. There is no reason my condition should have gotten to this point.

Signed, still doubled over in pain

I live a block away from this office and after reading all the reviews I decided to go ahead and give it a try. DON'T DO IT. The office is absolutely maddening and although Tiffany was great she is not worth the suffering you have to endure just to see her. Nobody in the office is nice. It is a machine that just wants your money. Even calling back for results is frustrating. I was also surprised that they want you to write out your credit card information on a form so they can keep it in your file. When I refused, they charged me more and said they would refund my card when the insurance was processed. I'm still trying to get my test results and refund. Whatever happened to customer service? I wanted it to work out because it is so convenient. Too bad.

I recently moved to New York City and needed a gynecologist pretty fast for a prescritopn I was about to run out of. I called several offices that couldn't see me for weeks and when I called Murray hill ob/gyn and they gave me an appointment the same day. I saw a nurse pracitioner (i can't remember her name) but she was really nice. She even offered to do my complete exam even though my appointment was just for a prescription. She then made sure I had names and numbers of general doctors to pick from as I am new to the city. I think this place was very thorough and I'm glad I found it.

I am shocked by the reviews on this site. I was sent to this practice by a friend and the day before my appointment I looked up the reviews on the practice and got very nervous but my friend assured me it was a great practice. I am glad I trusted my friend because my experience was nothing like all these negative reviews. From the second I arrived the staff was friendly and helpful. I only waited for 20 minutes to see the nurse practitioner (I always see nurse practitioners, in my experience they spend more time with you) Kate and she was so nice. She was genuinely concerned about my health and spent 30 minutes talking with me about my issues. Her exam was the least painful I have ever had and I felt really listened too. Most of these reviews are about a Dr. Fischer which I cannot comment on but my visit with Kate was very pleasant and I have recommended her to all my friends.

I have never written a review on citysearch but was compelled to do so after my horrible and threatening experience. This place is an inefficient, negligent practice with an incapable staff. i am appalled that it remains as busy as it is with it's RUDE doctors, especially Heidi Rosenberg. I was meant to receive a simple bl**d test one afternoon after i found out i was 5 weeks pregnant. excited by my news, i was called in to Murray Hill to get my bl**d drawn. The place was so busy, people were upset and had been waiting for hours - a common experience I had noticed on my annual visits. My name was called, I was asked to sit down in a seat and then the needle came out - i looked away and before i could say anything i realized she was GIVING ME A SHOT instead of DRAWING MY BL**D. When i asked what was going on - she said aren't you Michelle and I said NO. Then she said "oops you just got the first shot to the vaccine Gardasil"

She left me there as I began to worry about the effects of a vaccine not recommended for pregnant women. They finally came back to kind of apologize and bring me into Dr. Rosenberg's office. Where she was incredibly rude and condescending - making it out to be no big deal and that it's "most likely" not going to effect anything"

I immediately left there and have not returned. I have found, since then, from several health practitioners and doctors that this was not ok and am now left to worrying and making appointments with genetic counseling. this is UNACCEPTABLE.
does anyone think it's weird that you can not use the word bl**d in a citysearch review??

Cons: too many to list. this is a terrible place

I have never before written a review for citysearch. My experiences with this practice compelled me to warn other women to STAY AWAY. This is the most unprofessional office I have ever encountered! Not only is their website inaccurate (hours are wrong, medical providers inaccurate), but their telephone number/answering service is nonsensical. I tried for THREE hours today to reach someone because of a UTI. I tried every option in their phone system with NO LUCK. I had my pharmacist try, no luck. Why I could not reach a nurse or receptionist, I'm not sure. At 4pm, I was somehow put through to their answering service, I explained my problem (pain) and finally got a call back from one of their receptionists who told me that I needed to come in to the office but then wouldn't give me a clear answer on their office hours today/tomorrow. When I was in tears because no one can see me or write a prescription tonight, I asked if I could go to the ER, she just stayed silent. This tops off the horrible experience I had with Kate, the nurse practioner. I was her first appointment of the day for my annual and she was already rushed and harried. Her exam made me feel violated. She was extremely judgmental and gave me no time to ask any questions (breast cancer is in my family). I have NO idea how this place stays in business. My only guess is that unsuspecting women try it because of its location and never go back. STAY AWAY! and spread the word. I am considering reporting them given their unprofessionalism.

I saw Dr. Fischer for the first time today, and she is horrible. I was crying within 5 minutes of being in her office. Upon arrival, I overheard the staff talking about how overbooked she was, and she obviously just wanted to get me in and get me out. I was coming to her for help with a recurrent yeast infection, which anyone can imagine is not a fun problem to have. But she cut me off repeatedly while I was trying to answer her questions and treated me in a completely rude and uncaring way. She didn't listen to me and scoffed at several things I said. Once I started crying she tried to act kind, but it felt completely fake. I didn't want to let her give me an exam, but I thought, well, I took off work for this, and I needed my yearly. It was the worst, most painful exam I have ever had, and 5 hours later, I am still hurting from it. Do not go to this woman.

I'm been going here for about 2 years now and I have finally reached my last straw with this place. While I was pregnant I was treated like a waste of there time. More than once I had to go to the emergency room and when the doctor would finally arrived she would be rude and just want to hurry up and leave. During one of my visits I had to take a test and when I saw the doctor a week later she had no clue what i was talking about and when she finally decided to call the lab she was told i had a very bad kidney infection! They don't keep on top of the Test they make you take! Then when my daughter was born I had the worst experience. Among other things that happened during my delivery Dr. Heidi Rosenberg SCREAMED AT MY HUSBAND FOR taking pictures of our daughter as soon as she was born. Finally today was the last Straw. I called before coming in to make sure I could just come in as a walk in for a UTI. When I got to Murray Hill the receptionist had an attitude and tried to turn me away saying they no longer saw walkins. Then after I told her I spoke to her a half hour ago she said oh and gave me a cup and walked away. When I got back she was busy on the phone then proceeded to tell me can I help you i said i just spoke to you and you told me to give this back to you. She said I don't recall that but ok thanks we will give you a call. I HAVE A UTI AND I AM IN PAIN HERE AND YOUR TELLING ME I HAVE TO GO HOME AND WAIT FOR YOUR CALL. I could not believe I ONE couldn't see a doctor ( I mean what if something else was really wrong with me, and TWO was told to go home and they would CALL ME! They didn't get the prescription into my pharmacy till 1 in afternoon meanwhile I was there at 8 in the morning. BUT HERE IS THE BEST PART I picked up my meds and there was only one BOTTLE the antibiotic no PAIN KILLER! Thank goodness I looked it up online and found one that you can get over the counter! But enough is enough they have now lost yet another patient!

WARNING!!!! Murray Hill OBGYN is a Nightmare Guitly of mal pract!ce

Husband: My wife was a patient of Murray Hill OBGYN while she was having our first child. Because I have a really hard time getting out of work to accompany here, I was not able to make it to her first couple of visits to Murray Hill OBGYN. After the first visit, my wife told me she was NOT happy. Being that it is only 2 blocks from our apartment, I kept insisting that she gives them a chance. MY BIGGEST MISTAKE. After 3 more visits, she said if I don't go with here she was changing. I accompanied here to a visit with Dr. Ilene Fischer and I felt so so sorry I never believed her. Try asking her ONE question. The woman flips out on you. She did not spend more that literally 5 minutes and rushed out. Absolutely NO NO NO consideration. Rude as can be. My wife IMMEDIATELY change to Downtown Women, who are also at NYU hospital and, let me say THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!! We couldn't have been happy with the incredibly sweet, caring, experience, and professional doctors in the practice!!!!! Even the secretaries and nurses are all WONDERFUL. If you are with Murray Hill OBGYN. I would urge you to change!!!!! Research the doctors. One or two have had law suites and were found guilty of mal pract!ce. See the article below. It is all about money money money to them and no consideration to the patient.

A Manhattan jury has awarded $11.8 million to the husband and children of a fashion-industry sales executive who died of cervical cancer that went undetected through several years of medical examinations with Murry Hill OBGYN.

I have been going to MHOBGYN for two years now and am shocked by the negative reviews. I have never had a bad experience yet. I see the nurse practioner Tiffany krajicek and would highly recommend her to anyone. Infact I have to several friends and they have all been happy so far. Tiffany is very professional but is also personable so that you feel comfortable with her. She is always patient when answering my questions and takes her time durring the visits. The nurses have also been very nice. I think the only slightly negative thing I could possibly say is that the reception staff can be a little short with people, but I over look it to have a practioner I trust.! I would suggest the people who are unhappy with Fischer to switch to Tiffany!

Thisa place went down the tubs fast! I used to see Dr. Rosenberg and I have to say that I never had any problem with her.She delivered my son in 2004 and was wonderful. HOWEVER most other doctors in that practice are rude, negilect and act as if you are wasting their precious time. If you have been a patient long enough you will see how often the doctors change - except for Rosenberg & Fischer, and the nurse practitioner. THe staff is a total joke. They will leave charts in the folder with the doctors sitting in empty examining rooms wondering where their patients are??? You always have to wait over an hour to be seen. They recently tried to charge me $100 for a now show when I called the appointment line and left a messge that I needed to cancel well in advance. You never get a real person on the phone and when they do return your call its days later! My niece ended up in the ER due to Rosenberg & Archabald's negligence. Many doctors have several mal practice cases against them - most recently Rosenberg for negligence! It seems to me that they "cattle" in more patients than they can handle fo rthe co-pays! I would never ever recommend to anyone and wish I would have found these reviews along time ago!!

My wife, who is now 7 months pregnant, has just switched doctors. We have had a few legitimate medical emergencies and they never answer the phone. All you get is a recording that tells you to call 911. You have to pretend to make an appointment to talk to someone in person who can't even put a doctor on the phone. When you do go in there, you have to wait a half hour after the scheduled appointment to see anyone. Perhaps they have way too many people but I'll never know why. 3 of the 4 doctors have absolutely no bedside manner and it's almost like they don't like people. I WOULD NOT GO HERE. AND DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND TRANSFER OUT IMMEDIATELY!!

Cons: Rude, incompetent and not available during emergencies

.

Practice is overcrowded with too many patients. Receptionists and nurses known to hang up on patients because they have too many calls waiting and/or are frustrated. Appointments are "lost". Doctors rarely grace patients with their presence instead sending others, mostly incompetent in their place. If a doctor does show up, 5 minutes at most is available, and manner is arrogant and abrupt. Would absolutely not recommend Murray Hill OBGYN.

Terrible terrible terrible...These are the worste doctors I've ever had to deal with. My wife is pregnant and this is supposed to be the happiest time of our lives and we should be looking forward to the gift of life that we are expecting in October. Unfortunately, my wife has be brought to tears three times by this doctors office...whether it's fouled up scheduling which she was blamed for (but wasn't her fault), or nurses yelling at my wife on the phone, it's always something. I really don't know why these people go into medicine if they dislike it and dislike people so much. What the hell is so hard about showing some compassion to your patients...let alone actually seeing them face to face for more than 5 minutes over the course of a 9 month pregnancy.
My wife stopped by the office 3 days after her last visit and complained that she was having sever asthma and was concerned about air getting to the baby. She was turned away and promised a call back!!!! She got the call back alright...an irate nurse that gruffly snipped at her "We can't help you, you need to find an internest". Point taken, but not exactly how I would have handled the situation...I would have been out of a job if i talked to a customer with that tone of voice.
So a WORD TO THE WISE: If you want to be terrified to ask questions, never see the doctor, be barked at by nurses, be treated with arrogance when you do actually see a doctor, then this is the place for you...Happy birthing!

Pros: Massages and Manicures

Cons: Treat patients with disdane

I am so relieved to see these reviews. I thought I was alone in receiving apalling care from this practice. The list of offences is so long as to seem a bit unbelievable, so i'll mention only a few;

1) Front Desk staff- I had an appt. for my glucose test, and went in carrying breakfast. I asked if I could eat before my test, and was told "Sure, go ahead. I won't be a problem". Wrong. I had to reschedule, and Fischer made them apologize to me in front of the rest of the waiting room.

2) I was 2 weeks away from due date, carrying an underweight baby. Dr Betancourt stripped my membranes aginst my specific wishes, and afteward said "I was only trying to hurry you along." !?!?

3) I discovered they had been pressuring me to induce early because they knew they were shorthanded the week I was due (one Dr had left, one had scheduled vacation), and they wanted to get as many deliveries done as possible, whether or not the mother wanted to do it early. I held off until my due date, and they were furious with me.

4) Rosenberg was angry during my entire labor, and said "You should have come in at 7:00 like I told you! Now we'll all be exhausted by midnight!" I managed to deliver long before midnight.

Etc, etc, etc.

Pros: Appear to be all licensed to practice medicine

Cons: Negligent, don't respond to questions, are are downright nasty

I didn't even make it through to my appointment, but I can tell that I made the right decision to cancel. Every time I have talked to the staff on the phone, they have been nothing but rude and unaccommodating. Because of their behavior, I had no choice but to cancel. I am SO happy that I made the choice to see another OBGYN. And based on the other reviews (the one person who had something nice to say, must have been drugged), it seems like an awful establishment.

I recently graduated from college and after moving to the city needed to find a new obgyn. I stumbled across Murray Hill Obgyn. as they are right in my neighborhood. It was easy to get an appointment that same week while other places couldn't take me for months. After reading the reviews I was nervous, but I went this morning and found that the staff was friendly and the doctors were particularly chatty and thoughtful. Maybe all of the negative comments have really made in impact in the office, but I would reccomend this place to anyone.

Pros: Chatty, Fast, Considerate

Reasons why I will never go back here:
1. They over charged me 2 times on my co-pay and refused to re-imburse even after I wrote letters and faxed them verifying insurance information
2. You will wait on average 1 hour to see someone
3. You will not meet or see a doctor on our annual visits unless something is "wrong"
4. They "accidentaly" put that I have a disease on my chart that I do not have and have never had!
5. When I did actually see a doctor and wanted to discuss a serious diagnosis in further detail, she said, " I'm sorry I have patients waiting, I need to go".
6. After inflicting bodily harm without warning, the nurse replied, "I'm surprised that hurt you"
7. They fine you 100$ if you cancel an appt. no matter what the excuss is.

As a physician myself, I know and understand how physicians should behave. I have been a patient at Murray Hill OB/GYN (Dr. Ilene Fischer specifically) and feel compelled to let others know to avoid this clinic. I have been extremely disappointed with Dr. Fischer and the generally rude/abrupt staff. Dr. Fischer needs some serious work on her bedside manner. She does not respond to questions in an appropriate manner, shows no compassion, and lacks in empathy. From personal experience, in medical school we are taught that patients most value kind doctors that answer questions and behave in a compassionate way. It is not always just pure knowledge that makes one a "good doctor". I do hope that someone in the practice takes note of this. And I do hope Ilene Fischer takes this into account-from one physician to another. Please change your attitude.

I have been a patient of Dr. Fisher's since before she joined 2 other doctors to open MHOBGYN. I have 3 children--all with this practice. I have seen the office staff go from a wonderful and caring group of women to what amounts to nothing more than your average civil servant attitudes. Uncaring, uncompassionate, and no brain activity whatsoever. After seeing Dr. Fisher for the past 14 years, I called in with a problem, only to be told I can have an appt. in a month! Now they are branching out into "aesthetics" (skin rejuvenation). I think their priorities are in the wrong place--for a medical practice. Sorry, doc--time for me to move on.

Pros: Competent doctors, Nice offices, in-house sonograms

Cons: Office Staff, Office Staff, Office Staff

On 11/16/05, I left a message with the administrator of the practice on a previous voice message for a prescription refill. She called me at 4:30 pm and said that I called the wrong line for a prescription and spoke non-stop and would not give me a chance to tell her why I called her line. When she finished, I asked her if she would listen to my explanation and she said that she didn't have time as she was in the midst of a meeting. I told her never mind. Shortly afterward, Marjorie, a refreshingly nice staff of the practice, called to apologize and took my prescription info and assured me that she would take care of it. I told Marjorie that CitySearch already had negative feedback on the staff of the practice and that they should take this into account.

Pros: Excellent doctors, Convenient location

Cons: Attitude of some staf

While the doctor's are good enough, the staff is horrible. THREE MAIN REASONS NOT TO GO HERE:
1) Recently when rescheduling an appt, the receptionist neglected to remind me of the $100 cancellation fee they'd penalize me with. When I complained later that I wasn't reminded of it, the gen. administrator complained about not making enough money, then rolled her eyes at me and insisted that they told me.
2) Staff ASSURED me my birth control perscription would be called in on a Friday. It wasn't, so I went the weekend without starting it.
3) Called the Nurse Hotline at 6pm one night with a UTI. My call was returned almost FOUR HOURS later. I was in so much pain by then I could hardly get to the pharmacy.

The attitude and practice of the staff is horrendous. Find another place!
